The winter 2006 issue of “Living It Up” features stories centered on one of our Camden Values, Leading by Example. You’ll
read about coworkers who have demonstrated leadership in their work – people just like you. You’ll learn about local charitable
entities that our colleagues have supported with their time, their talent and their money. With the holiday season underway,
there is no better way to demonstrate leadership than to act as good corporate and individual citizens by giving to those in
need. You’ll also find updates and reports on regional and department news as well as information about Camden graduates
and promotions.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to submit stories and articles for this issue – your contributions make “Living It Up”
a success. We welcome story ideas for upcoming issues. Please submit those to Carla Basha at cbasha@camdenliving.com.
over 20 years as a Regional Manager with
worked in markets across the country, including:
leading by example
Whether you take the time to chat with new employees in the kitchen,
help out with an on-site promotion, or are the fi rst to ask the hard
questions, you alone are responsible for setting company standards and
expectations.
At Camden, we call this “Lead by Example,” and it’s one of our core
values. By living the Camden values, we create value for our company
and greater success for all of us. In this issue of Living It Up, we take
a look at “Lead by Example” and see how people at all levels of the
company, and all across the country, are putting this value into action.
“When it comes to our Camden values, we all practice what we preach,”
says Tom Sloan, AROC Regional Vice President, who helped guide his
4 Living It Up Volume 2, Issue 2
LEADING BY
EXAMPLE
To be a leader in the multifamily industry, we must
make conscious choices to set the right examples
– to lead in directions we want people to follow.
team through the Summit merger. “And that’s especially true of Lead by
Example,” he adds. “It’s a promise to ensure that your actions, and the
respect and appreciation you show your coworkers, are refl ective of
the standards of the entire organization, and in our case, a combined
organization.”
Jennifer Zadell, Leasing Consultant at Camden Trace and a Camden
Mentor, agrees. “We are professionals that walk the talk and turn words
into committed actions and committed actions into results. As a Camden
Mentor, leading by example involves true dedication and passion every
day, all day. I communicate to be understood, listen in order to learn,
manage my motivation, utilize positive behaviors and avoid negative
ones.”

To Eddie Howe, Community Service Supervisor at Camden Commons
and also a Camden Mentor, “Lead by Example” works in tandem with
another core value: “Always do the Right Thing.” A mentor for four years
and a Camden employee for seven, Howe believes that as long as things
are being done the right way, and results are successful, others will follow
your lead. “They want to emulate what you do because they want to be
successful, too. So they follow suit and it works.”
“Lead by Example” also is a key strategy in the larger communities where
we live and work. Camden frequently partners with local charitable
organizations to raise funds and awareness for great causes. In the Tampa
region, Camden employees, led by Brooke Middleton, TROC Marketing
Director, coordinate and produce an annual golf tournament which raises
money for Easter Seals and a variety of other causes. In the past seven
years, Camden TROC has netted more than $120,000 for charity!
Why has it been so successful? “It’s a result of staying focused on our
values and believing in being the best we can be,” says Middleton. “It’s
important to keep that positive attitude at work, socially and at home,”
she adds. “Attitude is contagious whether it’s positive or negative, so
the more people that can lead by example with a positive attitude, the
better!”
“WE ARE PROFESSIONALS THAT WALK
THE TALK AND TURN WORDS INTO
COMMITTED ACTIONS AND COMMITTED
ACTIONS INTO RESULTS.”
Sometimes our actions extend beyond our communities. That was the
case during the Hurricane Rita and Katrina evacuations, when Camden
reached out and supported the City of Houston by donating the time and
expertise of one of our own to serve in the Mayor’s Offi ce. Evelyn Bartish,
HROC District Manager – Houston, reported directly to the city’s Deputy
Chief of Staff, John Walsh, and worked 12-14 hours a day, seven days a
week (more than 660 hours!), which was underwritten by Camden. She
facilitated a myriad of activities to address the housing needs of evacuees
specifi c to the city and across the nation – everything from creating a
business plan for the city to provide temporary housing to volunteering at
the Disaster Center where she oversaw the housing referral program.
“I am proud to work for a company that is recognized in our markets
and within our industry as one that leads by example,” says Sloan.
“People think of Camden and they think of great people that can be
trusted to consistently achieve great results.” Adds Jennifer Zadell, “It
is empowering to further your own self-development through everyday
experiences of positive leadership, and using this strategy benefi ts
professional and personal growth. Whether you are at work or in your
community, excellence starts with you and inspires others.”
Heroic Efforts
Crocodile Rafael
Leads by Example in Extreme Situations
Rafael Martinez, a Service Technician at Camden Renaissance, is
being called a “Good Samaritan” by Local 6 News; credited with saving
the lives of two teens on September 18, 2006.
Police said Larry Mitchell, 17, and his girlfriend, Elizabeth Crowe, 19,
crashed into a retention pond near Camden Renaissance and were
surrounded by alligators. Rafael Martinez saw the crash and jumped
into the pond. Elizabeth Crowe said “He had a stick and he was trying
to get us out but he was trying to move the alligators, so the alligators
wouldn’t get him, you know. I was scared. I was too nervous to roll down
the window and I couldn’t open the door.” The teens, who were not
seriously injured, were trapped in the sinking car. Larry Mitchell opened
the window and Rafael helped the pair to shore.
“Those teens are lucky to be alive,” Local 6’s Jessica D’Onofrio said.
“There are several gators inside the pond.”
Prior to the rescue on September 18, Rafael never had any experience in
fi ghting alligators. In fact, he says he is scared of them. But, as the father
of six children and three grandchildren, he did not hesitate to dive into
the pond. “When you see an emergency, you don’t think,” Rafael said.
“I saw the alligators, but I also saw the people.” Then, happily he said
“estamos vivos” or “we are alive”. When asked if he would do it again,
Rafael said, “Yes, I would save anyone’s life without hesitation.”
Rafael has been with Camden since August 2003. Prior to that, he worked
as a Police Offi cer in the Dominican Republic.
“YES, I WOULD
SAVE ANYONE’S
LIFE WITHOUT
HESITATION.”
CAMDEN BIRDS LEAD
THE FLOCK
ORIGINALLY FORMED AS A CORPORATE EMPLOYEE
BAND IN 2001 TO PERFORM AT CAMDEN EVENTS, THE
CAMDEN BIRDS IS NOW ON THE BRINK OF BECOMING
A CITYWIDE SENSATION.
After performing at a Downtown Houston YMCA event in August, the
Camden Birds was selected to be the only entertainment at the YMCA’s
Jingle Bell Run on December 10.
Over the years, the Camden Birds has performed at Camden’s Corporate
Picnic, occasional Spring Fling events, and most notably at Camden’s
Management Conference, when the band invites vocalists from across
our regions to join them on “Bird Night.”
Now, this talented group did not form overnight; since 2001, the band
has evolved into the following four key performers:
Greg McDonald (Electric Bass) – Original band member and leader
of the group. Greg’s span of performances over the last 30 years include
playing bass guitar in a jazz band in college, recording in Nashville
in the ‘80’s, regionally touring on and off for years with individuals
such as Kevin Black (Clint Black’s brother), and opening for acts such
as Tracy Byrd, Mark Chesnutt, and Diamond Rio. Although Greg whiles
away at his computer keyboard during the day as Camden’s Director of
Telecommunications, on the weekends he still fi nds time to devote to his
current band.
6 Living It Up Volume 2, Issue 2
Toby Mills (Drummer) – Member since 2002. At the mere age of
seven, Toby began playing drums and has continued fi ne-tuning his talent
ever since. Over the years, he performed with the high school band,
garnering All Region honors three times, and various garage bands
before practicing some informal sessions in college with members of the
Gin Blossoms and Rain Convention. His inspiration stems from the works
of John Bonham, John Blackwell, Thomas Lang, and Carter Beauford. By
day, Toby works to the beat of a different drum as Project Manager for
Camden Builders, Inc.
Geoff King (Guitar) – Original band member. After only 2 ½ years
of lessons, Geoff began playing in many garage sessions with friends,
focusing mainly on rock and the blues. He credits his inspiration to Mike
McCready & Stone Gossard, Son Volt, Wilco, and Trey Anastasio. He
strums away the day as a Project Manager for Camden Builders, Inc.
Rusty Stone (Lead Vocals, Lead Guitar) – Member since 2004.
Rusty performed in his fi rst pro gig at age 13 and started his road career
at age 19. Rusty’s musical biography includes playing the club circuit
in Florida and Alabama from ’74 - ’76, touring the U.S. with top Show
Bands from ’77 - ’80, playing with top club acts in L.A. from ’80 - ’81,
recording projects in L.A. in ’81, playing in a top Texas dance hall band
and top Austin rock band from ’82 - ’88, and most recently, playing
in Houston pop country acts from ’90 - present. During the day, Rusty
performs as Camden’s Telecommunications Project Manager.

Operations
departmental news
Launching a New Look for 20-40-5
Camden’s 20-40-5 focus is taking-off with a new retro-aeronautical
look. The theme captures the spirit of a time when daring aviators were
using the day’s latest technology and pushing themselves to shatter
performance barriers previously thought impossible to break. Operations
is bidding a fond farewell to teamCamden’s Traffi c Generator, Closing
Comet and Vacancy Blaster. They’ve served well over the past two
years to help communities stomp out the nefarious Dr. Deal and improve
outreach marketing practices and results.
Since its initial rollout in 2003, 20-40-5 has become the battle-cry and
benchmark for success at Camden communities. With the launch of its
new packaging, 20-40-5 is ready to fl y even higher. Though a new image
has emerged, the basics of the initiative remain the same.
The fundamentals of reaching 20-40-5 continue as a compass for achieving
top community performance. Exactly how does this work? A community
that can generate suffi cient traffi c (20% of its total apartments each
month) and close 40% of this traffi c, is typically able to maintain vacancy
at 5% or lower. A community that adheres to the 20-40-5 fundamentals
is in a great position to produce outstanding results regardless of market
conditions. Combined with a focus on excellence and execution, 20-40-5
has enabled communities to maximize income through high occupancy
rates, steady traffi c and consistent closing.
The relationship of these fi gures runs even deeper. More than a
measurement, 20-40-5 is a tool that enables community team members
to easily focus on the factors that help contribute to their overall success.
Once a community team
knows where it needs to be,
it can concentrate on how to
accomplish the steps required
to reach these goals. Through
consistent focus, evaluation and
a desire to constantly improve the
fi ve P’s, communities can soar to
their destination at 20-40-5.
Real Estate Investments
Long Beach, Phase III Sold
to Intergulf and Lennar for the
Proposed 216-unit Condominium Tower
The Real Estate Investments team recently announced the closing and
disposition of Long Beach Phase III, Camden’s remaining land holding in
Long Beach, CA. Intergulf and Lennar created a joint venture, purchased
the land and will move forward on the 216-unit condominium tower
that Camden entitled, obtained approvals for, and originally had an
architectural fi rm design. Construction is anticipated to begin in eight to
twelve months.
Rick Holcomb, Director of Real Estate Investments in California, oversaw
this land development operation resulting in tremendous value creation
and total gross sales far exceeding Camden’s cost basis of the original
purchase price. Phase III, which comprises 1.7 acres of the 13 acres
purchased by Camden, sold for more than the original purchase price of
the 13 acres. In addition, the 1.7 acres sold for 3 times the amount it was
previously under contract for as a hotel site.
This sale virtually completes Camden’s seven-year land development
operation in Long Beach which has proved to be a signifi cantly lucrative
endeavor for the company. Many thanks to all involved for their support
and contributions.
Mentor Program Update:
Sustaining a Mentoring Culture
A Camden Mentor is like a farmer. A farmer plants seeds which grow
into blossoms, the blossoms grow into fruit. Just as a farmer provides
nourishment and takes time to cultivate crops, a mentor devotes time
to new employees to cultivate a relationship of trust, rapport and open
communication from which a learning environment can develop.
The Camden Mentor Program has grown and evolved over the past
fi ve years. Since its inception, over 1,400 on-site employees have been
mentored, either as a new employee or a newly promoted employee.
In July 2005, the Mentor Program added the role of Community Manager
mentor and over 40 new community managers have been mentored in
their new role. Of the forty, twenty-three were promoted from within the
company into the role as Community Manager. Of the twenty-three, ten
were Camden Mentors. New employees who are mentored, are now
mentors. New community managers who were promoted and mentored,
were mentors. Camden’s seeds of mentoring have produced a new crop
of knowledgeable employees.
Mentors give their time, they share their knowledge and in turn are given
the opportunity to develop their own team. What better reward than
to give unselfi shly of your time and talents and reap the opportunity to
grow your own team? Camden is a rich, fertile soil that allows us, as
employees to grow, develop and achieve our aspirations if we are willing
to become farmers.
Human Resources
Start Now and Save for Your Future
Don’t fool yourself into thinking you can’t save for your future. The fact
is, the Camden 401(k) Savings Plan helps make it easy, convenient, and
affordable to accumulate the money you need for retirement. Having
trouble getting started? Here are some facts that can help you overcome
two of the most common excuses.
Excuse #1: I don’t understand investing.
You don’t need to be an expert to save for your future, you just need
to know a few fundamentals. Fidelity and Camden can provide the
guidance, education, tools and ongoing support you need to become
comfortable with investing.
Excuse #2: I have plenty of time.
Being young is the perfect reason to start saving, and not to put it off.
Thanks to the potential of compounded earnings, the money you save
can multiply many times over in the years between now and retirement. In
fact, if you start saving early in the 401(k) Plan and then stop, you could
actually accumulate more for retirement than a coworker who starts later,
saves longer, and puts more money in.
A tale of two savers
By starting early, you could potentially generate a bigger balance at
retirement, while investing less along the way.
Starting Ending Total Years Potential Value at
Age Age Contributed Contributed Age 65
Tracy 21 30 $10,000 10 $214,189
Rob 35 64 $30,000 30 $122,346
In the example, it assumes $1,000 pretax annual contributions to a
tax-deferred plan for the years indicated above and an 8% annual rate of
return compounded annually. While Tracy and Rob stopped contributing
to the plan at the ages shown, assets remained invested in the plan until
age 65.
Best Practices to consider:
The impact of an early start to saving.
Contribute as much as you can.
Invest more in your plan and pay less in taxes.
Don’t miss out on the Camden matching contributions to your
account.
Next ESPP Enrollment
Begins in December
Remember, the Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) enrollment for
the next purchase period will be in December 2006. Look for email
reminders and payroll stuffers for more information about the enrollment
dates.
ESPP Trivia
Did you know the June 2006 ESPP enrollment was the largest in
Camden’s history? Three hundred people contributed $1.3M by
purchasing approximately 26,000 shares. The employee price with
the 15% discount was $49.64 for this period.
Recent growth in Camden’s stock price has created a tremendous
value for Camden employees who participate in the ESPP. Since
January 2006, Camden’s stock price has increased from $58 - 75.
In some cases, there has been approximately 50% increase in value.
As with any investment, the value may fl uctuate, but the ESPP remains
one of the best investments. In saving for your future, consider
participating in both the ESPP and the 401(K) as part of a balanced
strategy.
If you participate in any of Camden’s stock programs you may view
your information on line at www.ubs.com/onesource/cpt. If you have
any questions, please contact Blake Beyer, Employee Investor
Relations Coordinator, at 713-354-2629.
activities or violations of Camden’s fi nancial-related policies. Our goal
is to provide an easy reporting method so these issues can be quickly
identifi ed and corrected. We encourage you to use the hotline to share
Fed Ex Passkey Saves Money
The all-company roll out of Fed Ex Passkey is now complete. All Camden
offi ces and communities can now process package shipments on-line
using Fed-ex.com. Company-wide use of the Fed Ex Passkey system for
shipping and tracking packages saves the company money through
volume discounts, provides an effi cient means of coding and tracking
packages, and even reduces time spent processing invoices.
“I really like the global address book in the Fed Ex Passkey system,” said
Martina Hulse, Human Resources Project Coordinator. “Every Camden
address is listed there making it convenient to process a shipment
online.”
Fed Ex invoices and coded spreadsheets are available for review on
public folders. Remember to process shipments online using the Fed Ex
Passkey system and to discard all paper shipping labels.
“Using the Fed Ex Passkey system allows us to print out a manifest every
morning so that we are prepared for the day’s shipments and we don’t
have to hand-write every tracking number,” said Philip Malone, Offi ce
Services Clerk. “Last Friday we received 150 packages from Fed Ex
alone.”
Please contact Kathy Cade, HR Project Manager, 713-354-2699
or Cesar Velazquez, Office Services Coordinator,
Risk Management
The Risk Management Department at Camden is growing! Earlier this
year, Shawn Cox joined us as the new Director of Risk Management.
Shawn focuses on recovery under the ongoing construction defect litigation
and the related insurance claims (where his previous experience as an
insurance defense attorney and architect are very helpful). Additionally,
he is also taking on the complex task of placing our annual insurance
program. His offbeat sense of humor often enlivens these tasks.
In September, Beverly Garza joined Camden and will be supporting
Risk Management and Internal Audit. Prior to Camden, she worked as a
legal secretary at a law fi rm. We are excited that she chose us, and look
forward to being more organized and effi cient than we ever dreamed.
She certainly helped our table at the Management Conference and we
welcome her to the team.
Of course Amy Nicolai is still in the department as well. Now that the
department has grown, she can focus more time on her favorite subjects:
claims and reporting! Community and District Managers can look forward
to getting more information about claims trends on their properties.
Some things in the Risk Management development pipeline include a
Safety Committee, a revised and updated Safety Manual, and a Risk
Management dashboard on OWL.
For Risk Management questions, please call Shawn Cox at
713-354-2883, Amy Nicolai at 713-354-2564 and Beverly Garza
at 713-354-3846.
Information Technology
Movers and Shakers in the
Information Technology Department
The Information Technology department proudly welcomes two new team
members: Victor Meighan as the new Technical Support Specialist
in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Offi ce and Kate Carruth as the Security
Administrator. Victor will be responsible for community and regional
desktop support and Kate will manage system user IDs and other securityrelated
tasks.
Margaret Middlehede, Information Technology’s former Security
Administrator, is now a Server/Network Administrator. She has accepted
the challenge of working in the data center with other IT team members.
David Henry was recently promoted to Director, Voice & Wiring
Technology. David has been with Camden for over 3 years and has
played a major part in the creation and support of wiring and voice
needs for Camden.
As the year draws to a close, remember the 2007 IT calendar to begin
scheduling next year’s events. And, be sure and watch for the OWL –
it will be fl ying your way soon!
Surveys, Honors and Awards
Camden’s 2006 Employee Opinion Survey
Begins in November
Camden values your feedback! This November, Camden will conduct the
2006 Employee Opinion Survey. This is a great opportunity to share your
thoughts and opinions about matters that are important to you. Based on
your feedback in past years, Camden made signifi cant changes, such as
creating an adoption benefi t, increasing our tuition reimbursement plan,
improving our holiday policy and creating the Management Advisory
Committee. Last year, 62% of us participated in the survey. This year,
let’s go for 100%!
The survey will be distributed by mail and email. If you have a Camden
email address, look for an email from Ric and Keith that will contain a
link to the survey. All other surveys will be mailed directly to your home
address. The survey will take about 15 minutes to complete. Let your
voice be heard!
to her hard work and the insight and efforts of Julie Keel, eMarketing
exists and continuously evolves. Now, every region has been trained
on eMarketing and may benefi t from its ease of use and specialized
Camden’s 2005 Annual Report
Receives Multiple Awards
For the second year in a row, Camden’s Annual Report receives high
honors from The International ARC Awards, the “Academy Awards of
Annual Reports.” This year, our 2005 Annual Report received two Grand
Awards, one for the cover and one for the content. And, for the fi rst time, it
will be included in the AR100, a collection of the top 100 annual reports
worldwide -- the highest honor in the annual report design arena.
Due to our inclusion in the AR100, Camden’s book will go on tour and be
displayed in every major European museum over the next twelve months.
Next time you’re in a bookstore, sneak a peek at the AR100 21st edition,
which showcases all of 2005’s winners.
AROC Hosts Leadership Conference
On August 8, the new AROC Leadership converged onto Washington
DC for the fi rst conference with the newly confi gured region of Charlotte,
Raleigh and the Mid-Atlantic. District Managers, Facilities, Landscape
and Coordinators all broke bread under the leadership of Regional
Vice President, Tom Sloan. For two days, there were discussions on
new initiatives and best practices, development of each discipline’s own
mission statement to Camden and to AROC, and mostly, great team
building and fun. The culmination of this amazing Leadership Conference
was a challenging and fun Nation’s Capital Polaroid Scavenger Hunt
Contest whereby our four teams had to go out and take creative Polaroids
from an eccentric list of landmarks and monuments. Our special guests
were Janice Potter from Education Services and Regin Noel from Business
Employees Jingle Their Way
to Raise Money for Houston’s YMCA
Camden Houston communities and employees are feeling the holiday
spirit as they train and prepare for the annual YMCA Jingle Bell Run &
Walk. Camden is a Silver Sponsor this year for the big event on Sunday,
December 10. Over 5,000 runners and volunteers including Camden
employees and residents are expected to make their way through the
streets of downtown Houston.
HROC’s leasing consultants and community managers will help
coordinate registration and provide ice cold Camden bottled water at
Camden’s booth. In addition, the Camden Birds will perform as the only
live entertainment selected for this citywide event. All proceeds from the
2006 Chevron Downtown YMCA Jingle Bell Run & Walk benefi t the
Downtown YMCA’s Partner’s Campaign, which provides scholarships for
YMCA programs to those in need. For more information or to show your
support, contact Laurie Escamilla at 713-354-2673.
HROC operations would like to thank everyone who came out to support
the Camden Birds and our Houston communities. The Jingle Bell Run Kick-off
party was a huge success thanks to the hard work and dedication of:
Geoff King, Rusty Stone, Greg McDonald and Toby Mills, Jennifer Moreno,
Shannon Soderstrom, Iris Gonzalez, Gabe Bisogni and Laurie Escamilla.
Houston Employees Race for the Cure
On Saturday, September 30, Houston department and community
employees participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, a 5k
run and walk that raises money for breast cancer. Camden’s team of 30
sported their new Camden dry-fi t running shirts and pink hats as they
took to the streets of downtown Houston. Travis Oden had the fastest time
of the Camden team, fi nishing the race in 22:27. Dad Keith was not far
behind with a time of 24:14.
The team raised over $4,500 for this event, far beyond their original
goal of $500. Kristin Gandy was the top fundraiser for the group raising
$1,028, and Laurie Escamilla was right behind raising $1,025. Way
to go Kristin and Laurie – your fundraising accounted for nearly half
of the team’s total! Within the team, there was also a contest to see
who exercised the most days in September. Elizabeth Bryson won that
award, exercising a total of 18 days during the month. For their efforts,
Travis, Kristin, and Elizabeth each received a gift certifi cate to Amy’s Ice
Cream.
A big thank-you to everyone who participated or donated – the turnout
was far more than anyone expected. Keep an eye out for communications
regarding future races, as this team needs to get some good use out of
their Camden running shirts. Also, start gearing up for next year – when
the goal will be $10,000 (according to Mr. Oden). Congratulations
again to all the participants on a job very well done!
Camden Austin Sponsors a
Resident’s Classroom
Camden Austin communities sponsored a resident/school teacher’s
classroom for the 2006/2007 year as a way to continue to build
community ties and share information about Camden. The communities
partnered with teachers to host teacher in-service days and parent/
teacher nights with Camden refreshment stations. Austin communities also
helped teachers buy school supplies for children and provided Camden
bottled water for fi eldtrips. Since the start of the school year several of the
relationships have evolved to outreach marketing to the entire school.
“Camden Huntingdon sponsored two elementary school teachers who
are residents at our community. When we contacted both to explain the
program they were almost in a state of shock they were so excited. We’ve
had a great response. I believe this is an awesome outreach marketing
program that will benefi t Camden and the community greatly,” said
Oasis Gateway Is Going to the Dogs
It was a hot August night in Las Vegas and the rumor was that Oasis
Gateway was going to the dogs – literally! Well the rumor was true! On
Wednesday, August 30, the famous pet-friendly property in Northwest
Las Vegas held a “Puppy Pool Party” for all the residents’ furry friends.
The property is well known as one of the very few in the area that will
allow large dogs – and staff members make it known that they love them
as much as their owners do.
philanthropic and
community events
LVROC Welcomes Teachers, Students, and
Potential Employees
LVROC had a very busy outreach month in August. Three major events
– the Clark County School District New Teacher Welcome Day on August
15, the Community College of Southern Nevada New Student Day on
August 15, and a city wide Job Fair at Palace Station on August 18
– enabled Camden & Oasis communities to get the word out to hundreds
of potential new residents about our apartments and our company.
Over 200 new teachers attended the Welcome Day event and visited the
Camden tables where they received some school tools (pencils, erasers
& note pads) as well as information about our PEP Program for teachers.
They also drew tickets for prizes such as the Camden beach ball (a big
hit with our Physical Education teachers), the fl ipper bottle with the belt
clip, photo mouse pads, or the tape measure. At the luncheon raffl e,
Camden also presented the grand prize, a check for $1,000. Camden
has donated the grand prize for four years, and our relationship with the
school district continues to strengthen. Many teachers are happy residents
at Camden & Oasis communities throughout Las Vegas.
CCSD New Teacher Welcome Day – August 15, 2006
Front row, left to right: Cindy Arnowitz, Jennifer King,
Back row: Jared Smith
On August 15, our busy managers attended the New Student Welcome
Day at the Community College of Southern Nevada to help these students
fi nd a place to live. Since the community college doesn’t have any
on-campus housing available, we offer affordable studio & one bedroom
options as well as two bedrooms in the area for those who prefer having
a roommate.
At the Job Fair at Palace Station on August 18, we secured applications
to fi ll our open positions and we distributed the new Las Vegas regional
Resident Update newsletter and our Camden magazine promoting our
Las Vegas communities.
