RON STENBERG was horn in Auckland in 1919. He studied

im School of Art in Auckland. Stenberg is interested mainly

in figure and portrait painting and drawing- He has worked in

Scotland, Sv. i] the Continent. He has exhibited in

London and Edinburgh as well as in Auckland and is represented

in collections in England and Scotland and in the Melbourne

nal Gallery, the National Gallerr, Wellington, and the

Auckland Citv Art Gallery.

f Arts. He has exhibited with them and elsewhere in

Auckland. One of Thompson's other interests is puppetry. Hr

JOHN 1 WFFKS • in Devonshire, England, in 1888, but

came with his parents to New Zealand a; early age. In

•wenties he studied nt the Elam School of Art, Auckland,

and in the succee ' , rs lived in both England and Australia,

where he studied at the Sydney Technical School. In 1923 he

left New Zealami i' >r Edinburgh and studied there at

the Edinburgh f Art and the Royal Scottish Academy

School of Painting He went in 1925 to Paris, where he studied

the following vr.ir at Andre IJiote's Academy. Weeks triTeUed

widelv in Europe during the late nineteen-rwenties — through

rco, Tunisia and Algeria, Italy and Corsica — working

in most of these countries. Tn 1929 he returned to Ner»

md and in 1930 commenced teaching at Elam School of
