IDENTIFICATION
Performa APP + Plus Plain is intended for use a cap
sheet in a bituminous built-up roofing system. The
material consists of a polyester fleece coated with
APP bitumen to both sides and surfaced with fine
sand.
STANDARD
At the present time there is no British Standard for
Performa APP + Plus.
DESCRIPTION
The core of Performa APP + Plus Plain is formed
from a continuous polyester carrier weighing
150g/m². The carrier is fed through tanks containing
stabilized APP liquid bitumen which coats it to an
approximate thickness of 4.0mm in one continuous
operation. As the material emerges from the tank it
is coated with a top surface finish of sand.
Thermofusible torchable film is applied the
underside.

This product is not sold by weight. The indicated weight is
only given for calculation of loading and handling purposes.
Structural & Mechanical
When tested using the methods described in BS 747
(amendment for polyester based felts), Performa
APP + Plus Plain complies with the stated
requirements. Samples of the material are regularly
tested as part of quality assurance procedures.
Tension
Load at failure : 600N (Longitudinal)
350N (Transverse)
Elongation at rupture: MD 40%
Elongation at rupture: CD 30%
Bending
At -5ºC the material can be bent through 180
degrees around at 20mm diameter bar without
rupture (EN 1109).
Tearing
Tear resistance is 120N longitudinal 120N
transverse when tested in accordance with method
(EN 12310-1).
Fire
When incorporated in a built-up roofing system with
one of the surface finishes described in Part iii of
Table A5 of Appendix A of Approved Document B of
the Building Regulations (England and Wales) the
roof is deemed EXT F.A.A.
Surface Finishes:
(a) Bitumen-bedded stone chippings covering
the whole surface to a depth of not less than
12.5mm.
(b) Bitumen-bedded tiles of a non combustible
material.
(c) Sand and cement screed.
(d) Macadam.
Liquids
The material is impervious to water.
Biological
The material is not susceptible to insect attack or
pest damage and is unaffected by fungi, moss,
lichen, moulds or bacteria.
Compatibility
The material is compatible with all materials normally
used in roofing structures and finishes and may be
cut and formed using techniques described in
BS8217: 2004. There are no harmful side effects
associated with this material. Hydrocarbon solvent
based products, such as naptha, paraffin and
creosote will have a harmful effect and should
not be allowed to come into contact with the
material.
Durability
Correctly installed and maintained, systems
incorporating Performa APP + Plus may be expected
to last 20 years.

QUALITY ASSURANCE
Performa APP + Plus is manufactured under a
Quality Management System approved to ISO 9001:
2000 by BSI Quality Assurance.
Certificate No: Q5556
DELIVERY AND STORAGE
Performa APP + Plus roofing membranes are
delivered on a pallet in a strong weatherproof shrink
wrapped bag. These materials should, when
removed from pallets, be stored upright on a firm flat
surface, kept dry and protected from mechanical
damage and heat sources.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Health and safety data sheets are available for all
materials. Please contact Icopal Technical
Services Department for further information.
TECHNICAL SERVICES
Icopal will advise on the most suitable use of
material for specific applications. Test data and
samples may be obtained from Icopal on request.
