O Destroying plants / greenery in the campus.<br />
O Internet surfing in the classroom other than the<br />
time slot allotted, specifically for the purpose.<br />
Any act not mentioned above, but undesirable in<br />
the academic field.<br />
Library Facility<br />
The <strong>Institute</strong> has a well-equipped library with over<br />
7,500 <strong>Indian</strong> as well as foreign books, in addition to<br />
reference books, journals, standards etc.<br />
Dissertation / Library Reference Work<br />
The student is expected to submit a typed report at<br />
the end <strong>of</strong> each semester as dissertation on library<br />
reference work, for evaluation. The subject for<br />
dissertation would be prescribed by the <strong>Institute</strong>.<br />
Industrial Visits<br />
Number <strong>of</strong> industrial visits are organised for the<br />
students during Semester I, II and III with a view to<br />
expose them to actual industrial processes and give<br />
an opportunity to acquire practical experience on<br />
packaging and non-packaging related subjects.<br />
Additional Topics<br />
To improve the skill <strong>of</strong> the students, new topics and<br />
additional lectures will be introduced.<br />
Practical Examination<br />
The methodology <strong>of</strong> practical examinations is detailed<br />
by the faculty. Normally, students will be required to<br />
plan work, perform experiments, report results and<br />
give interpretation <strong>of</strong> the same.<br />
During practical examinations, emphasis is laid on the<br />
methods <strong>of</strong> working and accuracy <strong>of</strong> results, rather<br />
than on information that is asked during the theory<br />
examinations.<br />
The practical examinations are held in <strong>Packaging</strong><br />
Technology and other related subjects only.<br />
Industrial Training and Project Work<br />
During the 4th semester, candidates are assigned to<br />
industries for 5 months. Each candidate is required<br />
to submit a typed report (2 copies) as ‘Project Work’<br />
providing methodology, findings etc. in detail as a<br />
part <strong>of</strong> industrial training.<br />
Performance during industrial exposure, provided in<br />
the industrial unit, is evaluated based on the report<br />
to be submitted by each candidate and necessary<br />
assessment / certificate as may be obtained by the<br />
<strong>Institute</strong> from the concerned unit. 300 marks are<br />
assigned for industrial training and project work and<br />
300 marks for overall performance <strong>of</strong> the candidate<br />
in all four semesters.<br />
Marks are based on regularity in attendance (minimum<br />
75%), conduct and progress as reported by the<br />
industrial supervisor, quality <strong>of</strong> report and viva-voce<br />
examination, besides behaviour etc.<br />
