Their explorations have<br />
resulted in 94 new species<br />
descriptions, adding to the<br />
family tree <strong>of</strong> life on Earth.<br />
And joining the international community in<br />
tackling one <strong>of</strong> the most urgent issues <strong>of</strong> our<br />
time, the <strong>Academy</strong> participated in CoP15,<br />
the United nations Climate Conference in<br />
Copenhagen, where it presented research<br />
about the impacts <strong>of</strong> climate change on<br />
biodiversity. These diligent efforts do not<br />
go unnoticed by the scientific community:<br />
<strong>Academy</strong> researchers published more<br />
than 70 papers and received at least seven<br />
new, federal grants in 2009.<br />
