informal evening that features
food, drinks, our annual
awards presentations, a familyoriented
comedy program and plenty of socializing. Business casual
dress is recommended.
Saturday night entertainment will feature the Crazy Norwegians
from Lake Wobegon, MN (wherever the heck that is). Sven and Ole
will entertain us with stories of their lives and travels. Olga had to
stay home to take care of the cows. The Crazy Norwegians have
been at this for 15 years or so. They’ve been all over the world. Well,
all over Buffalo County anyhow. Seems like the world traveling in
Ole’s 1974 Ford Pinto. They get many requests, but they keep doing
it anyway. Wife and kids gotta eat, ya know. Ya sure, ya betcha.
Changes to Nebraska Optometry Continuing
Education Requirements Pending
For the license renewal period that began August 2, 2012 new
regulations are pending that would change the CE requirements
for optometrists who will be seeking re-licensure in Nebraska in
2014. The pending changes will increase the requirement to 44
hours of approved CE credits for the two-year period. However,
along with the increase in the number of hours, doctors will
have additional options for meeting the requirements. The
pending regulations will allow up to 4 hours of approved practice
management education during the two-year period and will allow
as many as 8 of the 44 hours to be 'home study'. Nebraska licensees
should be receiving additional details of these pending changes
soon from the Board of Optometry.
When structuring their budgets, many business owners might
companies who continue to market during economic slow times are
usually those that emerge first when the tide turns. This course will
help attendees make wise and effective marketing choices without
The Nebraska Foundation for Children’s Vision (NFCV) works to
ensure that every child entering school in Nebraska is visually ready
Nebraska Optometric Association Political Action
Committee (NOA PAC) (NOA Superbooth)
402.474.7716 |http://nebraska.aoa.org/x11902.xml
The NOA Political Action Committee (PAC) is the only legal way for the
association to contribute money to help elect candidates, and support
lawmakers who understand and share our views. (The association itself
cannot contribute, using dues or other funds. The only way we can
do it is to form and register a PAC and use funds that are voluntarily
donated to the PAC by our members.)
People can contribute to candidates individually, but candidates don’t
necessarily know why……they don’t know what specific issues are
important to you. When PACs contribute on behalf of your profession,
the candidates know exactly what issues are important to the people
Exhibitors
who gave the PAC funds. There is an ‘issue message’ that is inherently
part of every PAC contribution.
PAC contributions in Nebraska go to candidates in virtually every
legislative race. We are conveying issue messages to ALL the
lawmakers who determine your future. There are 49 lawmakers
in Nebraska who make the rules we practice under, but individuals
typically only contribute to a few candidates at best. Without the PAC,
you have influence with only a couple of legislators.
Part of your NOA PAC contribution goes automatically to AOA PAC to
be used to support candidates in the U.S. Congress. More and more
issues affecting health care and the optometric profession, including
patient access issues, are going to be decided in Washington D.C., so
AOA PAC’s ability to provide meaningful financial support to as many
candidates as possible is absolutely critical.
