Great NorthernAuction Lori Fehrman Memorial Scholarship A scholarship has been established in the name of Lori Fehrman who was a long time friend and leader in the Minnesota Red Angus Association. This Scholarship is awarded annually to a Red Angus youth with the goal of providing youth with Red Angus opportunities. One Minnesota Red Angus Junior member will be awarded a $500 certificate toward the purchase of a female at the Great Northern Sale. Junior members can only receive this award once. Lori enjoyed watching junior Red Angus members develop and grow their leadership and cattle. Hopefully, this annual award will continue to help build leaders for the Red Angus breed. November 19, 2011 • Noon • Red Horse Ranch Arena, Fergus Falls, MN Welcome to the 2011 Great Northern Auction Schedule of Events… Sale Day Lunch: Lunch will be served starting at 11 a.m. Auction Who would have thought that in 1995 when the Minnesota Red Angus Association organized their first Great Northern Sale that 16 years later it would still be going strong ? In fact four of the breeders selling cattle in the 2011 Great Northern have been involved in every single one ! Longevity in the purebred cattle business is a rare thing and I tip my hat to Arlan Dahlke, the Paul Fehrman Family, Mark Nelson and the Sonstegard Cattle Co., LLC programs that have stood the test of time and helped make the Great Northern what it is today. Last year, the Great Northern made the move to Fergus Falls, Minnesota and Red Horse Ranch Arena. I am not sure any of us were ready for such an enormous and spectacular facility. We have made a few changes to the sale ring and cattle handling from last year and you owe it to yourself to come and just see the facility if nothing else. Once there, I can assure you that the quality of the Red Angus cattle will grab your attention and you will find some that you must have. The cattle from the “North Country” are hardy and adaptable to any region of the North American continent. If you don’t have what it takes to come to Minnesota in late November, we have made it easy for you to participate through the internet and DVAuction. Please tune in, watch, and be prepared to bid. I will have an 8’ X 30’ trailer headed back down I-35 to southeast Iowa for anyone that can meet me – let’s load ‘er up ! I also will be going through the cattle on Friday afternoon and would be glad to visit with you about any lots you find interesting. Historically, the top-end of the cattle in this sale has been exceptional, and I will assure you there will be plenty of quality and money makers in this year’s auction.
