Introduction<br />
Welcome to the <strong>Bassetlaw</strong> Sports Forum’s Sports <strong>Club</strong><br />
<strong>Directory</strong>.<br />
Throughout the district of <strong>Bassetlaw</strong> there are lots of<br />
organised <strong>sports</strong> clubs and this booklet tries to incorporate<br />
their details to give you the opportunity to contact them and<br />
get involved.<br />
The <strong>Bassetlaw</strong> Sports Forum has made every effort to include<br />
as many clubs as possible in the directory.<br />
It is important to emphasise that although clubs that are<br />
included in this directory are not recommended or endorsed<br />
by the <strong>Bassetlaw</strong> Sports Forum, through information received,<br />
the <strong>Bassetlaw</strong> Sports Forum can identify clubs who have<br />
gained club accreditation from either their National Governing<br />
Bodies, <strong>Club</strong> Mark or the <strong>Bassetlaw</strong> Sports Forum’s Kite Mark<br />
Accreditation scheme.<br />

The club was created in October 2008 to provide quality<br />
strength and conditioning training for local <strong>sports</strong>people<br />
mainly in athletics but also for local cricket, football, rugby<br />
and tennis players that wish to improve their fitness and<br />
agility. This year we have added a speed and agility<br />
training night. The club has links to local <strong>sports</strong> clubs for<br />
athletics and has 5 athletes in the top 30 of the UK and<br />

The event takes place annually in January, where the sporting<br />
talent, commitment and dedication of <strong>Bassetlaw</strong>’s finest are<br />
highlighted.<br />

Nottinghamshire County <strong>Council</strong> Coach Scholarship Fund<br />
Aspirations of the Fund<br />
The growth of our sporting community is reliant upon the abilities and<br />
passion of coaches. Without talented coaches there can be no talented<br />
athletes. It is the aspiration of this fund to support their professional<br />
development.<br />
Scope of the Award<br />
One application per person up to £200 in any financial year. Awards will be<br />
made to successful applicants to help with up to 75% of the cost.<br />
Eligibility<br />
Applicants at all levels of experience, in a sport recognised by Sport England,<br />
and coaching on a voluntary basis. (A paid coach working less than 20 hours<br />
per week may still apply, but only for courses relating to the voluntary<br />
aspect of their coaching). All applicants must be a member of a club which<br />
has attained or is actively working towards <strong>Club</strong>mark. Their permanent<br />
home address must be within Nottinghamshire. Applicants must be<br />
supported with an appropriate reference.<br />

<strong>Bassetlaw</strong> Sport Forum’s Coach Scholarship<br />
Scheme<br />
This scheme aims to financially support coaches that<br />
already have gained their level 1 coaching qualification and<br />
are wanting to work towards a higher level of qualification.<br />
The scheme aims to provide coaches with a financial<br />
incentive to develop their coaching skills by offering up<br />
to 50% of the course cost, up to a maximum value of<br />
£150.00.<br />

The <strong>Bassetlaw</strong> Sports Forum Kite Mark <strong>Club</strong> Accreditation<br />
scheme<br />
The scheme has been developed to help <strong>Bassetlaw</strong> clubs work towards<br />
providing a higher standard of sporting provision.<br />
The scheme supports clubs in working towards the Minimum Operating<br />
Standards that are expected of a <strong>sports</strong> club within the district of <strong>Bassetlaw</strong>.<br />
The Minimum Operating Standards that are measured are:<br />
• <strong>Club</strong> or group constitution<br />
• The implementation of Child Welfare Procedures.<br />
• Use of Coaches with up to date qualifications relevant to the roles they are being<br />
asked to undertake.<br />
• Affiliation to a <strong>sports</strong> governing body and / or public liability<br />
insurance.<br />
• Codes of conduct for coaches / volunteers / Officials &<br />
players.<br />
• Session attendance registers.<br />
• Health and Safety procedures including Risk Assessments and<br />
First Aid cover.<br />
• The application of equitable provision.<br />
By achieving the Kite Mark <strong>Club</strong> Accreditation Standard your club will<br />
be acknowledged as a quality assured <strong>sports</strong> club and will also be well<br />
placed to start working towards National <strong>Club</strong> Accreditation Standards.<br />

CLUB MARK and other National Governing Body<br />
Accreditation Schemes<br />
<strong>Club</strong>mark is the only national cross <strong>sports</strong> quality accreditation<br />
scheme for clubs with junior sections. It is built around a set of<br />
core criteria which ensure that accredited clubs operate to a set of<br />
consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards.<br />
Sport England recognises and values the commitment made by <strong>sports</strong> clubs to develop<br />
high quality, welcoming environments for young participants. The development of clubs<br />
that encourage young people to take up sport, improve their talents and give them the<br />
option to initiate and maintain life-long participation in sport is an essential part of our<br />
work to support the sporting infrastructure in England.<br />
<strong>Club</strong>mark is endorsed by all the main sporting, youth and education agencies involved<br />
in delivery of sporting opportunity for young people as the accreditation scheme for<br />
clubs with quality assured junior sections.<br />
A club is accredited via either its licensed National Governing Body (NGB) or County<br />
Sports Partnership (CSP). It must, therefore, be affiliated to the relevant Sport England<br />
recognised NGB in order to be accredited.<br />
More than 10,000 clubs across around 35 <strong>sports</strong> are currently <strong>Club</strong>mark accredited or<br />
‘working towards' the award. These cover a diverse array of <strong>sports</strong> from ball games<br />
such as tennis, cricket and rugby to water <strong>sports</strong> like swimming, canoeing and rowing.<br />
