Od II wojny światowej miasto podzielone jest na niemiecki Guben i polski Gubin.
Pośrodku miasta, jakby otwarta rana, stoi serce Gubenu i Gubina - Kościół
Miejski i Główny / Fara Gubińska. Fara Gubińska, tak nazywany jest dawny
kościół farny i z pomocą IBA ma się on stać miejscem kontaktów i spotkań dla
ludzi wszelkich kultur. W ramach projektu artystycznego »Raj 2« spotykają się
od września 2008 r. do lutego 2010 r., co miesiąc, Polacy i Niemcy na »kręgach
słuchaczy«, aby opowiadać sobie historie ze swojego burzliwego życia. Po
każdym spotkaniu kręgu uczestnicy zapisują na papierze, co ich najbardziej
poruszyło. Wrażenia te podejmowane są następnie przez polskich i niemieckich
organistów jako tematy i określają wybór muzyki na 24-godzinny koncert
organowy w Farze Gubińskiej w dniu 8 maja 2010 r. – dokładnie 65 lat po
zakończeniu wojny. Koncert ten stanowi punkt kulminacyjny społecznego projektu
pilotowego, mającego na celu zrozumienie »krajobrazów wewnętrznych«
innych, obcych osób, dawniej wrogo do siebie nastawionych.

Die Stadt ist seit dem 2. Weltkrieg in das deutsche Guben und das polnische Gubin
geteilt. Wie eine offene Wunde steht die Stadt- und Hauptkirche, das Herz von Guben
und Gubin, mittendrin als Ruine. Fara Gubińska wird diese einstige Pfarrkirche genannt
und soll mit Hilfe der IBA ein Begegnungsort für Menschen aller Kulturen
werden. Im Kunstprojekt Paradies 2 treffen sich vom September 2008 bis Februar
2010 monatlich Polen und Deutsche in Hörkreisen, um sich Geschichten aus ihrem
bewegten Leben zu erzählen. Am Ende jedes Hörkreises bringen sie auf Papier, was
sie am meisten bewegt hat. Diese Eindrücke werden von polnischen und deutschen
Organisten als Themen aufgegriffen und bestimmen die Musikauswahl für das
24-stündige Orgelkonzert in der Fara Gubińska am 8. Mai 2010 – genau 65 Jahre nach
Kriegsende. Dieses Konzert ist der Höhepunkt eines sozialen Pilotversuches, »innere
Landschaften« fremder und ehemals verfeindeter Menschen zu verstehen. Since the
Second World War the town has been divided into the German Guben and the Polish
Gubin. The towns principal church, the heart of Guben and Gubin, stands in the
centre as a ruin like an open wound. Fara Gubińska is the name of the former parish
church, and with the help of the IBA it is destined to become a meeting place for
people of all countries. From September 2008 to February 2010, Polish and Germans
convened monthly in listening circles as part of the art project Paradise 2, telling each
other stories from their eventful lives. At the end of each listening circle they wrote
on paper what had moved them most. These impressions were taken up as themes
by Polish and German organ players and determined the musical selection for the 24hour
organ music concert inside Fara Gubinska on 8 May 2010 – exactly 65 years after
the end of the war. This concert was the highlight of a social pilot-project designed to
understand the »inner landscapes« of people who formerly regarded one another as
foreign and as enemies.
