Paradise 2 Begins Now! A Lake Symphony
Die Landschaft wird zur Bühne. Das IBA-Finale beginnt mit der »See-Symphonie«
genau dort, wo 3.500 Menschen einst ihren Ort Bückgen verloren, weil sich die Bagger
immer weiter durch die Kohle fraßen, bis die Wende kam, den Tagebau Meuro stoppte
und ihn flutete – für den künftigen Ilse-See. Die gravierenden Umbrüche der Landschaft,
Arbeitswelt und sozialen Beziehungen, der Strukturwandel von einer Bergbauregion
in eine Tourismusregion sind Thema der Symphonie, in der sich über 300 Sänger
und Musiker sowie Politikerreden, Glockengeläut, blaue IBA-Schirme und Kinder
mit weißen Hirschen zu einem Gesamtkunstwerk verbinden. Musik beginnt, wenn
Worte allein nicht mehr ausreichen, um Geschichte zu vermitteln. The landscape becomes
a stage. The IBA-Finale begins with the »Lake-Symphony« exactly where 3,500
people once lost their village of Bückgen, as the excavators devoured ever more coal-until
the political change, and the Meuro opencast mine came to a halt and the mine
was then flooded – for the future Lake Ilse. The profound upheaval of the landscape,
the working lives, and the social conditions, the transformation from a mining region
to a tourist area are themes of the symphony. Over 300 singers and musicians as well
as political speakers were joined together, with bells ringing out, blue IBA-umbrellas
and children with white deers, all creating a unified work of art. Music begins, when
words alone are no longer sufficient to convey history.
