Whereas, Fifty years ago today on <strong>the</strong> afternoon <strong>of</strong> November 19,<br />

1863, Abraham Lincoln delivered, at <strong>the</strong> Dedication <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Gettysburg<br />

National Cemetery, his now famous Gettysburg Address; and<br />

Whereas, No greater brief document expressing l<strong>of</strong>ty sentiment<br />

and high ideals appears in <strong>the</strong> English language; now, <strong>the</strong>refore, be it<br />

Resolved, That it is altoge<strong>the</strong>r fitting and proper that this message<br />

be read in this <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> today; and be it fur<strong>the</strong>r<br />

Resolved, That <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> Secretary read, or cause to be read, at a<br />

suitable hour between three o'clock and four o'clock on <strong>the</strong> afternoon<br />

<strong>of</strong> November 19, 1913, <strong>the</strong> famous address <strong>of</strong> Lincoln's as a message<br />

<strong>of</strong> love <strong>of</strong> man to man.<br />
