<strong>of</strong>fice, or to such person as <strong>the</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> may appoint to receive <strong>the</strong> same.<br />

Resolved, fur<strong>the</strong>r, That Article II <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> By-Laws<br />

be amended by adding <strong>the</strong>reto <strong>the</strong> following new section:<br />

Section 12. The Finance Committee <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> shall,<br />

not later than <strong>the</strong> first day <strong>of</strong> March <strong>of</strong> each and every year, provide<br />

for <strong>the</strong> security <strong>of</strong> all funds and property <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Subordinate <strong>Lodge</strong>s<br />

which may, from time to time, come into <strong>the</strong> hands <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Financial<br />

Secretaries and Treasurers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Subordinate <strong>Lodge</strong>s, or any <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m,<br />

by a suitable contract entered into between <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong>, as <strong>the</strong><br />

insured, for <strong>the</strong> use <strong>of</strong> any Subordinate <strong>Lodge</strong> as its interests may appear,<br />

as party <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> first part, and some responsible surety company,<br />

authorized to do business in <strong>the</strong> State <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong>, as party <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> second<br />

part; such contract to be made subject to <strong>the</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong><br />

Master and <strong>the</strong> premium <strong>the</strong>refor to be provided for by appropriation<br />

and paid out <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> funds.<br />

Whereas, The Sovereign <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> Independent Order ,<br />

Odd Fellows, at its recent session in Minneapolis, committed every<br />

Odd Fellow in <strong>the</strong> world to wage a war on gambling and all o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

vices, and<br />

Whereas, The nation-wide movement against gambling, -started<br />

by <strong>the</strong> fraternal orders in <strong>Illinois</strong> in 1912, has grown into a worldwide<br />

movement <strong>of</strong> crime prevention; now, <strong>the</strong>refore, be it<br />

Resolved, By <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> Odd Fellows in Convention<br />

assembled at Springfield, 111., in 1913, that we pledge every Odd Fellow<br />

in <strong>Illinois</strong> to follow out <strong>the</strong> suggestion <strong>of</strong> our Sovereign <strong>Grand</strong><br />

<strong>Lodge</strong> in waging unrelenting warfare on all vices in <strong>Illinois</strong> and help<br />

make <strong>the</strong> State <strong>of</strong> Lincoln, Grant and Logan a happier and better place<br />

in which to live and do business.<br />
