DOCUMENT NO. 103.<br />

To <strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> State <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong>, I. O. 0. F.:<br />

Your Committee on Degree Work would respectfully report<br />

as follows<br />

:<br />

The <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong> should be extremely proud because<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> splendid work done by <strong>the</strong> degree staffs which exemplified <strong>the</strong><br />

work last evening, and especially so when <strong>the</strong> fact is taken into consideration<br />

that <strong>the</strong> staff which exemplified <strong>the</strong> Initiatory Degree was<br />

composed <strong>of</strong> members from three <strong>Lodge</strong>s and that <strong>the</strong> staff which<br />

exemplified <strong>the</strong> First Degree had been organized but four weeks. The<br />

degree staff for <strong>the</strong> Initiatory Degree was under <strong>the</strong> charge <strong>of</strong><br />

Bro<strong>the</strong>r W. W. Crowder, <strong>of</strong> Teutonia <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 166, and was composed<br />

<strong>of</strong> members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> three lodges located in ,Springfield. Bro<strong>the</strong>r<br />

Past <strong>Grand</strong> Master Sayler being a member <strong>of</strong> one <strong>Lodge</strong> and Bro<strong>the</strong>r<br />

<strong>Grand</strong> Secretary John H. Sikes being a member <strong>of</strong> ano<strong>the</strong>r. This union<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> three <strong>Lodge</strong>s in degree work exemplifies <strong>the</strong> harmony and good<br />

will existing among <strong>the</strong> members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong>s in Springfield, and<br />

which should exist among <strong>the</strong> members <strong>of</strong> all <strong>the</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong>s throughout<br />

<strong>the</strong> State. The staff which exemplified <strong>the</strong> first degree was under <strong>the</strong><br />

leadership <strong>of</strong> Captain John Ericsson, <strong>of</strong> Three-Link <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 812.<br />

The name <strong>of</strong> this <strong>Lodge</strong> is emblematical <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> harmony existing in<br />

this staff. The fact that <strong>the</strong> staff has been organized but four weeks,<br />

should be an incentive to all <strong>Lodge</strong>s to do better work. This staff was<br />

under great expense, coming from Chicago at <strong>the</strong>ir own expense to<br />

exemplify this unexcelled degree.<br />

We, <strong>the</strong> committee, feel that <strong>the</strong> Chief <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Instructors used<br />

splendid judgment in choosing <strong>the</strong>se staffs to exemplify <strong>the</strong> work at<br />

<strong>the</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong>. The committee recommend that a vote <strong>of</strong> thanks be<br />

extended to <strong>the</strong>se degree staffs for exemplifying <strong>the</strong> work.<br />

Fraternally submitted,<br />
