Los Pasos, and is connected to the Jockey Club’s Country
Club by a recently built pedestrian/vehicle bridge. The
bridge leads directly to the Jockey Club’s existent artificial grass field,
which will be Stadium no. 2 during the World Cup.
During this first stage, developers will finish the foundation on
which the artificial playing surface will be installed. Approximately
50% of the work will be completed by mid-May. The watering sys-
tem will be implemented within a few days, and it is expected to be
operational by June-July.
Specialists in charge of the project also highlight the importance of
the construction of a drainage system, which was planned for the near
future but was turned into a priority by the upcoming World Cup. Part of
the work will be ready when the international delegates arrive.
The structure of the stadium is undoubtedly the main issue. It
will accommodate 12,000 spectators, and the lighting system will be
of over 1,000 lux. The full project, carried out as a joint effort with
Rosario’s City Hall, includes also a building beside the stadium with
an approximate area of 1,000 square meters of covered space, which
will comprise locker rooms, press boxes and a small gym.
AfTER THE wORLD CUP
Out of the 3,000 sq. m of covered space which will be used dur-
ing the World Cup, 2,000 belong to a community service area which
will include a public school, a clinic, a Social Development Center
and a multi-purpose hall. The functional areas in which World Cup-
related events will take place between August 30 and September 10,
2010, will be afterwards handled by the City Hall for public use.

Los Pasos, Barrios del Jockey, es un proyecto urbanístico
que prevén completar en siete años. Se ubica al
oeste de la ciudad de Rosario, en una zona de poca urbanización.
Lo conformarán un total de cuatro barrios
cerrados, de los cuales el primero será Paso del Country.
En los próximos años le seguirán Paso del Golf, Paso
del Puente y Paso del Arroyo, a los que se les suma un
sector de manzanas abiertas y una zona comercial. El
proyecto promete ayudar a desarrollar esta zona de la
ciudad, trayendo energía eléctrica y construyendo un
acueducto, entre otras obras de infraestructura.
El grupo corportativo que lleva adelante Los Pasos
esta encabezado por el empresario rosarino Gustavo
Shanahan.
La participación de Los Pasos en el Mundial de Hockey
del año próximo se enmarca en un acuerdo suscripto
con la Municipalidad de Rosario. Las obras de infraestructura
resultantes, que se destinarán al uso público
luego del evento, serán en gran parte una contribución
de Los Pasos al patrimonio social de Rosario y su zona.

Los Pasos, Barrios del Jockey, is an urban development
project planned to be completed in seven years. It will comprise
four closed neighborhoods, the first of which will be Paso del
Country. After this, in subsequent years, Paso del Golf, Paso
del Puente and Paso del Arroyo will be built, and the neighborhood
as a whole will have also an open-space area and
a shopping area. This project will promote the growth of this
area in the west of Rosario; bringing electricity and potable
water supply, among other improvements.
The head of the corporate group that is carrying out project
Los Pasos is Rosario’s businessmam Gustavo Shanahan.
Los Pasos’ involvement in next year’s Hockey World Cup
is the result of an agreement with Rosario’s City Hall. The
infrastructure work that this agreement brings about will be
devoted to public use after the event, and will be a contribution
of Los Pasos’ tenants and investors to the Rosario’s social
heritage.
