Business Plan 2013
This document was uploaded in the page of Aztech (http//www.aztechrobotics.com.mx),
is available in Spanish for the Latin teams.
“POKTLIBOT”
The team AZTECH decided
named their first robot
“POKTLIBOT”. Pochtli is from the
Nahuatl language and means
‘young’. Also, if we change the
letters ‘ch’ by ‘k’, means ‘breath
of the spirit’, and we put ‘bot’ in
it to can make it more
technologic.
By this way the meaning that the
team decided to adopt and the
reason that we decided named
our robot is: ‘Spirit young robot’.
Executive Summary.
AZTECH 4775, in their first FRC Season (First Robotics Competition) 2012-2013
have generated a business plan that let see the strategy of the teamwork
and the investment in every area (Mechanic, Electronic, Programming,
Security, Communication, Finance and our project, AZTECH GREEN)
Our ABP (AZTECH Business Plan) reflects the structure and transparency of
all the activities made inside and outside of our educational institution;
Plantel Azteca.
AZTECH start the summer course 2012 with 200 students in the different
categories (FLL, FTC and FRC), and with the collaboration in the
coordination and the development in the plain of work of Oscar Montoya,
José Pablo Athie and Erika Argándar, founders of the AZTECH project. After
that, the official FRC team for the 2013 season, started in October of 2012.
Our team is composed by 39 students of Plantel Azteca. All of them with a
great academic performance as well, having additional classes and social
service. That’s what makes a high performance team. AZTECH have 1 Head
Coach, 1 Coach, and 5 Mentors distributed in each area to can make easy
the teamwork.
In 4 months, AZTECH have made new opportunities of learning, personal
development and team spirit (Gracious Professionalism) in each member
with different activities like the participation in the concert of the Orquesta
Esperanza Azteca in the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, supporting in the
assignation and logistic of the places of participants , and the participation
as volunteers in the regional of FLL Mexico, celebrated in the installations of
ITAM.
AZTECH, in addition to being a team of robotic FIRST, is a team that supports
the areas that needs of us. That is the reason to create AZTECH GREEN, a
project who promotes the ecologic education and the social responsibility.
AZTECH GREEN has begun activities parallel to the construction of the robot,
like; transformation of the greenhouse of Plantel Azteca, recycling of trash,
cleaning of areas nearest of the institution and the awareness of ecology in
all the High School.
The great responsibility of the finance team in AZTECH, was minimize the
costs of the team, seeking to generate our own revenue with fundraising
with the sale of doughnuts and other things. The goal is make AZTECH a selfsustaining
team.
The objective of AZTECH is generate more teams for the next season 2013-
2014 in the three categories, to can share with more students the wonderful
experience of belong a US FIRST team.
AZTECH, in all this season, doesn’t just make that the team was unified; it
made a great family where the values are important inside and outside of
the team.
Now, the science and the technology let the robotic be part of the
educative model in High School of Plantel Azteca.
After all, AZTECH wants to say thanks to the sponsor and founder; Fundación
Azteca and Plantel Azteca of ‘Grupo Salinas’, for their support in the project
in this season and the coming years.
Antecedents.
In May of 2012, our Head Coach, Oscar
Montoya, got that the team Panteras 2283,
can make a visit and a demonstration of
robotics with the goal of generate interest in
the students of Plantel Azteca to the FIRST world.
That was the first touch of our student community with the project.
With the influence of Panteras 2283 in our
institution, the founders decided form a
group of each category (FLL, FTC, FRC) to
can make a summer course, where the
students can have the chance to know
more about the work of a FIRST robotic
team. The summer course finished with a
demostration for the parents, where all
the teams showed
their work.
Team History.
In September of 2012, the call was released to can start the AZTECH project
by the web page of the institution (Aula24Horas.com), the goal was can
get students with a minimum average of 9 to the different categories of
FIRST: FLL, FTC and FRC.
In October 27, AZTECH in FRC category made their first season, having a
group of 38 students guided by the mentors Oscar Montoya and José Pablo
Athie.
According the abilities and interests of each student, they decided in what
area will be inside the team (Animation, Communication, Electronic,
Finance, Mechanic, Programming and Security). With the assignation of
areas, we generate an organization chart.
One of the first activities made by the team was defined the logo that will
identify us, and after see the designs made by members, we finally found
our logo.
Preseason.
Week1
That morning, the team met in Plantel Azteca, where a bus was waiting for
us, ready to take us to the Universidad Panamericana.
On our way, our mentors gave an introduction to the FISRT world; they
talked about the transcendence of this project and the benefits that we will
have for participate, not only physically, but by the experience.
Our visit in the University was so nice;
the team Panteras showed us the
work that they had made every
year since their foundation. , they
explained the way that the team
members work together in their
areas to
can have
great results, and they offered their help for any
doubt that we would have.
After that, we met for areas to can deal with
specific issues.
This visit also, aimed to create coexistence
between the teams, so, after a few hours of work,
we sat to eat.
That evening, we back to our school with a lot of
new knowledge and, especially, the start of a
closer relationship with the guys of Panteras.
Week 2
November 10th, 2012.
The activities of this day were realized inside Plantel Azteca. The first part
was watch the movie Forever Strong, which is based on a true story and talk
about the life of Rick Penning, who think that know and can do everything,
but that changes due to alcohol abuse. He is taken to the juvenile
correctional.
With rugby training and
community service the guy
develops different values as
humility, respect, trust and
teamwork. At the end of
the movie, our mentor
made us some questions
about it, like why we
believe that the
communication between
the team members and the
support provided is
important, the reasons why
we were on the team and
the abilities that we have
that we think can be help
us inside the team.
Knowing the answer of that
questions, we could met for
areas and identify the
activities that each one will
had.
Week 3
November 17th, 2012.
This season inside
Plantel Azteca, all
the day we
dedicated to
check important
documents of FIRST,
like the safety
manual, guidelines
for business plan
and the
specifications of
the robot based on
the 2010’s
challenge.
Obviously, that texts
are in English, so, some of our members took turns for read and traduce all.
Mentors also told us about the future registration in the regional of Dallas,
Texas, in which we would be participating.
We talked about the importance of every member of the team had
passport and Visa.
Week 4
November 24th, 2012.
This was a very
special day for the
team, and it
started with a
surprise cake that
was baked by our
mentor, José
Pablo to celebrate
that the team
already had a
number: “4775”
and the inscription in the Dallas Regional. All of us were so excited and
happy and we enjoyed the delicious gift.
One of the important things about be FRC, are the values and between
them, are the teamwork, tolerance and empty, so, for that reason we
decided that by the rest of the day, we can make some different.
We are a new team
with members of
different grades and
most of us hadn’t any
relationship, so we
made games to meet
each others.
We played soccer with
mixed teams and
really enjoyed that.
We laugh a lot and
made some new
friends.
Week 5
December 1st, 2012.
This day, areas of Finance and Communication worked in how raise funds in
the Pre-posada that Plantel Azteca organizes.
We organized to receive options of the other members, like sell chocolate,
Christmas’ gifts, food or doughnuts.
We investigate the
requirements and the
results of sell any of the
options and, by the vote,
we choose sell
doughnuts.
For this, was necessary
enroll AZTECH in the
program of Krispy Kreme,
where you can get the
same amount that you
put in.
When we investigated the
documents that we had
to give to Krispy Kreme,
we solicited to the
administration of our
school the license to can
sell it. They authorized us and we made publicity to our event.
The Communication area designed the poster of the left side.
Week 6
December 7th, 2012.
During the afternoon of this Friday, the team AZTECH in their different
categories (FLL, FTC and FRC) had their first participation in the student
community.
With a little help of our mentors, we adapted the prefecture area to can sell
the doughnuts and some of
our friends were all around the
school with boxes with
doughnuts inside, to can sell
more.
other teams of the country.
That day, we expected to sell
600 doughnuts and we did it in
less of 3 hours. All the Plantel
Azteca community helped the
team.
Another goal of this was let the
people meet the team,
because just a few people
know about us, FIRST and the
Week 7
December 15th, 2012.
This Saturday the season started early in the class room, like always, where
all the areas talked about topics like the Passports and Visa, to can travel
without any problem, and after that, the guys of mechanic designed the
box where we will put the robot and what will use to transport it.
The programmers and
the electrician, with
help of Finance area
made the list of
materials that they
expected to use in
the robot.
Communication, like
in all the seasons, took
the photos that will be
evidence of our work.
Week 8
December 22nd, 2012.
This was the last season that we had before the Kick-Off and we took very
important decisions for the team. We made a feedback to decide the
captain and the sub captain of the team, and the captains of every area.
We did it because we think that was important have someone that could
be in the events talking for the areas and the work that we make in it.
After the feedback, the team assigned to Verónica Hernández like captain
and Alfredo Acosta like sub captain.
We talked about how important would be the Kick-Off, and our mentors
told us some experiences of the last years and how they administrate their
time. That was important, after that, we think about our strategies to can be
ready.
AZTECH
Aztech team is formed by 39 students, 1 head-coach, 1 coach and 5
mentors. To explain the way we work, we develop the following
organization chart.
Besides we defined the mission, vision, objectives and values that Aztech
pretend to promote within the team and the community.
Objective
Obtain a competitive robot that meets the guidelines of FIRST®, taking as
tools the team work; according to the talents, abilities, qualities, knowledge
and goals of each member, giving a total delivery to achieve
competitiveness that leads us to the triumph of the "Rookie All Star Award"
at regionals and in this way qualify for the world championship, where we
want to have an excellent representation and to continue with the
enormous work, expecting that the whole team to feel proud y why not,
with a trophy and a medal.
Besides doing parallels activities to AZTECH robotics (as the restoration and
maintenance of the orchard, cleanups within a radius of 656 feet around
the campus, donating vegetables that are harvested in our orchard to the
S.O.S village, improvement of the teachers’ workplace, stationery supplies in
every classroom, inter alia.)
Mission
Promote the interest for one of the branches of technology such as
robotics, that focuses on the design, operation, manufacture and
application in the construction of a robot capable to do the specific
activities on each challenge. Achieving all this with the help of science and
electronic. Taking care of the industrial safety standards, with adequate
financial management. And also a dynamic and opportune dissemination
of AZTECH robotics.
Visión
Being a team that search, through the construction of robots, develop on its
members the abilities, attitudes and aptitudes, that highlight with the
philosophy of FIRST, in each one of the categories, as FLL, FTC and FRC.
In Aztech Robotics we have the compromise to consolidate us as one of
the best teams, to be a reference for rookie teams that integrate in future
years to FIRST, putting the values of our institution, such as ethics, honesty,
respect, effort, trust, among others, which we have learned along our
integral education of excellence.
We want to strengthen our team constantly. and from being participants,
we want to become future mentors for keep participating year over year at
regionals and championship events of FIRST.
Values
Team spirit, tolerance, respect, empathy, ethics, honesty, effort, confidence
and community support are just some of the values that integrate AZTECH
Robotics, which aims to spread not only in the institution but in their own
family and community
Start Of Season.
KICK –OFF
January 5th, 2013.
That morning the team
met so early in the
school, where a bus was
waiting to take us to
Instituto Tecnológico de
Monterrey in the campus
of Toluca.
On the road, our mentors told us about the event and all the important
people and other teams that we would see. That was an important event
for us, and we were so excited to can show the team. We ‘re Rookies, and
al waus new foro es!
In the campus, some members of Tecbot, the team of the Tec de
Monterrey, Toluca, were waiting for us. They were so happy to see us and
they guide us to the auditorium, where the event will be.
The atmosphere in the place was so amazing! The old teams were excited,
the music was so loud. After a time of fun
and connivance of the teams, we sat to
see the new challenge.
Then, Esteban Moctezuma, president of
Fundación Azteca, talked with us, he
asked us how we feel about that and we
give him the official t-shirt of Aztech. He
looked so happy.
Some guys went to receive the FIRST kit.
We had a lunch of two hours and in that time we talked with other teams of
different states of Mexico.
That evening, the areas went to different activities that will help them for the
season. Mechanic made the chassis with pieces of the kit, other areas
talked with experts
in electricity and
programming to
can know how to
put the electrical
wiring and the
programs that
were allowed to
use.
Finance and
communication
took a conference
for the teams that
want to win the
Rookie. They talked about their experience in their first year, their business
plan, the atmosphere in the regionals, the problems that they had to solve
to win the Rookie All Star Award.
When we were back in the bus to can go home, all of us were tired, but full
with great ideas to can make us win. We feel that the whole thing of the
Regional and the awards and the robot were real!
We were so happy and ready to work as soon as possible.

completely free, with middle and high school
levels, where is offered to young of low
resources the opportunity of having an
education of quality, values and technical experience.
Week 1 (January 6 to12 of 2013)
The first week were made the most significant expenses, because Plantel Azteca
didn't count with a robotics workshop, and it was the responsibility of all of us to
generate those spaces.
Therefore, the following investments were generated:
This generated a total investment of $35,894.63 (Mexican pesos). The material was
delivered to the team the same week and was inventoried by the Safety Area to
prevent losses.
Week 3 (January 20 to 26 of 2013)
Along the robot construction, different modifications and the need to acquire new
tools appeared. For that reason we bought the required material.During this week,
the next investments were generated.
This week we had very large sessions, so in some cases was necessary to buy meals
for the whole team; Costs which are included in the project expenses; thus this week
$9,255.71 (Mexican pesos) were invested.
Week 4 (January 7 to February 2 of 2013)
During this week, with the pressure of finishing the robot in time, to make some
proofs, new requirements emerged. For that reason new materials were bought. As
the time was passing, the investments were each time smaller and smaller.
Week 5 (February 3 to 9 of 2013)
In the penultimate week, the expenses were focused on the bought of materials for
the robot, and still are not compared of the ones in the first weeks. During this week
we included the investment realized for the bought of donuts that the team sold
along the kermesse organized by Plantel Azteca with the reason of celebrating St.
Valentine’s Day. The bills are included in the week expenses.
Week 6 (February 10 to 16 of 2013)
This is the last week we had to work in the robot, in it were covered all the
expenses like the elaboration of the box where our robot is going to travel
and another necessary pieces.
Besides this week we organized a fundraiser where we bought four
thousand donuts to sell in St Valentine’s Day.
To cover those expenses, the following investments were generated.
This week was generated a total inversion of $7,951.64 (Mexican pesos)

SOCIAL NETWORKS.
AZTECH know about the importance of the social
networks in the actuality, so we don’t want let pass
the chance of use it to make that the people know
about our project.
The communication area was responsible of that
great work when all team decided that get
involved in the social networks was the best option.
First of all, we created our Facebook page with the
name of ‘Aztech Robotics – 4775’. In it, we started
to put all the information to can be interesting to our public, and by this
way, that they know more about us and can feel closer to the team with
photos and notes.
After, we created a Twitter account:
‘@aztech_frc’. This is a faster and easy medium to
can share all the things that happens and that
was our principal reason to use it. This account
let us put simple but important things.
We have too a YouTube channel; ‘Aztech Robo’.
Here, we put all the videos that the members of
communication take in all the preseason and the
season.
We think we have made a great diffusion with the
social networks and we work every day to can
actualize and that the people can feel part of us.
Aztech Robo
Week 1 (6th to 12nd of January of 2013)
The day 12th started at 9 o’clock, and all met in the same classroom when
we talked about the challenge of the year.
In the season, José Pablo wanted that every member of the team created
a sketch with a possible design for the robot.
After that, the team was divided
into three parts and all of them
had to create a new design
based in all the ideas.
45 minutes after, every group get
in the front of the class to can
draw the sketch and explain their
idea.
When they finished, the rest gave
their point of view and ask some
things that don’t understood.
The objective of that was that
that day, the design of the
robot was ready.
With all of that, we stated to
check what were the great
things of the designs and the
goals of the robot.
At least, we got an innovation
design and all the team voted
for it.
Week 2 (13rd to 19th January of 2013)
PLANTEL AZTECA
That day was a bit different ‘because
some teachers joined us to can help
as mentors. The teacher Misael Juárez
joined to the communication area.
Before to start the journey, we
wanted that the teachers knew
about the objectives and the work of
the team. When we finished that, all
the mentors with their area started to
work in different classrooms.
Communication, with the help of the teacher, redacted the vision, the
mission, the objectives and the values of AZTECH. So, we started one of the
projects of the team: AZTECH GREEN.
ITAM
The morning of January 12nd, some members of the communication and
finance areas went to the ITAM as volunteer in the national tournament of
FLL, we went with our Head Coach, Oscar
Montoya.
Our journey started so early, before all the
participants arrived, we get installed in the
judges room and after that, we went to
check.
In all the day, we helped to check the
participant teams, to put them in their pits
and keep the order.
When the interviews with the judges started,
we guided the teams to the right rooms -
When the interviews finished, was time to put the teams in their tables.
The day ended with the awards, when we helped to give the results of
every team. So, the director of FIRST in Mexico, Bárbara Gómez de Navarro,
made a special announcement for us and for the Lic. Esteban Moctezuma.
For the AZTECH team, was a wonderful experience get involved like
volunteers in the competition, so, the media was there and our team
captain; Verónica Hernández, get an interview to can show the project
and the event in the TV.
Week 3 (20th to 26th of January of 2013)
This Week, we defined all the important points of AZTECH GREEN, our great
project.
Introduction.
Inside the FIRST philosophy, is important the diffusion and promotion of
values; the team spirit based in the solidarity and the fair competition when
we want to make a global change: not just for the member of the team, for
their community too. AZTECH wants to make a better place today and in
the coming years.
The world’s problems aren’t a new thing. The contamination of the air, the
water and the earth, the destruction of the forest and jungles by the fire, the
extinction of species and other topics are so important to AZTECH.
This is the inspiration of AZTECH robotics to create ‘AZTECH GREEN’ like a
complementary project, where we reflected the compromise that we have
with our planet and society, wanting to put an ‘ecologic think’ and by this
way save and create green places all around our institution.
‘AZTECH GREEN’ trusts in the words, the thinking and the diffusion of ideas
like the change to make this a better world.
Objective.
Recognition of human actions in their community, and the effects that they
make in their relation with the natural and social places, using strategies
that can make the people take care of it.
Communication of the events that are occurring in the natural medium to
can make a change in the Plantel Azteca community.
Mision.
FIRST and Plantel Azteca shares the same values: an integral idea of
education and youth based in the ethic and a scientific and technologic
formation with fun.
For that, the AZTECH team and their branch AZTECH GREEN, conscious of
their social responsibility, considered that the education in ecologic can be
the detonating of a change in the world. The care of the environment is
important.
AZTECH believe in the exemplary action: we started with concret
aportations in the community to after that can make the rest of the Plantel
can get involved in a new ecologic thinking.
Vision.
AZTECH GREEN is a branch of AZTECH Robotics recognized for their social
labor. This gets better every day and is present more than in the school
where it was born. Is closely with the sustainable development.
Methodology.
RESTORATION AND MANTEINANCE OF GREENHOUSE.
Invite the parents to realize the donation of seeds and plants.
Select the seeds and the plants.
Prepare the earth that we’re going to use in the planting of the seeds,
putting a little portion of Humus of worms.
Realize the planting of seeds.
Take care of the seeds and the plants like: humidity and light.
The AZTECH team periodically will be recollecting the trash around the
campus.
RESTORATION Y AND MANTEINANCE OF THE GREENHOUSE.
9 th to 15 th February: Donation of seeds and plants.
16 th February: Selection of seeds and plants.
16 th February: Preparation of the earth with Humus of worm.
16 th February: Planting of seeds.
17 th February to 17 th March: Cares of the plants.
18 th March: Products harvested.
This project started with the idea of clean the greenhouse of the school,
that unfortunately, have become in a
warehouse, and the objective is that
this greenhouse totally functional, so
we started to clean it.
The members of Communication and
Finance, with help from the mentors,
started pulling out the boxes, the trash,
plastic and other things inside the
greenhouse.
To continue, we separated in groups. While
one group cleaned the floor of the
greenhouse, others separated the
cardboard, the plastic, paper, etc. After
that, we selected what can use and what
not; to can put it in a new warehouse.
After hours of hard work, we took a break to eat and drink something. In the
break, we talked about the advances of the day, and the pending topics
of each area.
We backed to the work, ‘cause Communication have to document and let
the people know the work of the team every week.
Week 4 (27th of January to 2nd of February of 2013)
We dedicated this week to prepare the information that some members o
the Programming area will use in the design of the Web page.
So, we redacted the information of AZTECH GREEN, about what we
expected to do with the project and all the steps to do to can get it.
Also, we sold doughnuts in the school, and we talked about the possibility
to sell in February 14 th in TV Azteca and the offices of Grupo Salinas.
Surged the idea of the next Saturday, can be a meeting with the parents
and talk they about the project, the travel, the regional in Dallas, Tx, etc.
The Saturday, the team
met at 8am in the
Metrobus of Indios Verdes
to can go to the UP
(Universidad
Panamericana) and can
met with Panteras 2283.
When we arrived, we
bought tamales for the
teams to can take some
of breakfast. Each
member presented with
the rest, saying their name
and their area.
We started to work and Panteras 2283 was so kind with us. They let us use
their workshop and gave us some tips.
At 4:30pm, the teams bought pizza to can eat. As always, AZTECH have a
very good time with Panteras.
Week 5 (3rd to 9th February 2013)
In this week, the team met after classes, from the 1:30pm to 4:00pm.
The first two days, Communication was checking some details of the
information for the web page.
In Thursday, all the team met at 1:00pm
because we’ll talk with the couches and
some mentors. We talked about the
pending topics and the dates to send the
Business plan and the robot.
When we finished that, all the team went
outside the school to clean the sidewalks.
It was more dirty than the usual because
those days, the school gave the
inscriptions to first year of High School, so
we found a lot of trash in the morning.
The Friday February 8 th , AZTECH sold once
again doughnuts in the school, and
Communication walked around the
school to can talk about the project, invite
the students to like us on Facebook and
we gave they lollipops.
On Saturday, the team met at 8:00am in the school, we prepared the
presentation for the parents that will be visiting us at 11:00am.
They were so excited to participate in the project, and some of our girls,
putted they a sticker with the team logo. It was designed for our members
of Animation. Also, we gave they candies.
First of all, we showed the parents the work that we did in the greenhouse
of the school, and they bring sedes and plants to dónate.
After that, they visited our
workshop, where members
of Security, Mechanic and
Electronic explained the
way that we worked in it, the
security inside and how we
use the tools for the
construction of the robot.
Then, Oscar Montoya, our Head Coach, talked about the project and put
videos of FIRST, so the parents can understand better. We count with Erika
Argándar, director of the educative projects of Fundación Azteca, María
Teresa Badillo Ruíz, director of Plantel Azteca and Clemente Cartujano, subdirector
of the school.
When we finished,
Communication decided
make a surprise for the
team with help of all the
parents. We know that
the days of competition
can be really hard, so we
made a video with words
of our parents to can
motivate us.
Week 6 (10th to 16th February 2013)
Searching the sustainability of the team, in February 14th, AZTECH went to
make sweeter the Valentine’s Day.
The goal was sold 4000 doughnuts in different places of Grupo Salinas (TV
Azteca, Elektra Towers, Fundación Azteca and Plantel Azteca) So, since
9:00am, AZTECH started this hard and wonderful labor.
In the Elektra Towers and TV Azteca, the groups that will be selling there,
met at 9:00am, so Oscar Montoya can gave them indications and tips.
They started just in time; in TV AZTECA they were in the main
hall and in the
towers they were in
the esplanade.
AZTECH used all
they enthusiasm,
talking with the
people and
convincing them to
support the team
and enjoy the
delicious
doughnuts.
Our goal wasn’t just sell doughnuts. We want to the people
know us, generate interest and win the support that all the
teams need to feel inspirited. We did it.
All of them showed so interested in AZTECH, in our activities and happy that
Young people like the members of AZTECH want to develop the science
and technology in our country.
They gave us good wishes and ask us for
do our best that we can for us, for the
school, for the team and obviously, for
Mexico.
For about 8 hours, we worked hard and
we met important people of the shows.
At 5:00pm, we finished so proud of us.
That was the last activity that we do
before the construction of the robot
finished.

Week 1 (6th to 12th January 2013)
After a week of the Kick Off, we met in a classroom. In our houses, we have
read the game manuals, the rules and the rest.
We checked the possibility that each element that our robot system can
have, the advantages and disadvantages. When we decided the design,
we draw it in the blackboard.
Three designs were exposed:
A robot that, with a system of
bands, would raise the Frisbees,
stop it in the right height and
with potential energy will expulse
it.
A robot that will collecting the
Frisbees with a system, and keep
raising it with a chain so it can
put it in the container and can
expulse it.
A robot with a similar system of the Tortillas machine that with a band
can raise it and put it in the low porter’s lodge.
We checked the content of the KOP’s boxes and our Head Coach show us
all the tools that we are going to use in the workshop like piliers, hacksaws,
drills, srewdrivers, sabre mower, disc mower, vice, etc.
The team decided to use the
model with the system of a
tortillas machine, and the
strategy was win points in the
porter’s low and scale of any
level of the pyramid.
Week 2 (13rd to 19th January 2013)
We met in the classroom this Saturday with the surprise that new mentors
were in the project. We talked about the robot and other activities and the
teacher Manuel Anaya decided to
work with us.
With the experience of the mentor, we
saw how to elevate the robot in the
pyramid and we divided to can
check the topic and adjust the
chassis.
Next day, we cut profiles and we
settled it back. We calculated the
robot measures and the material that
we will need the next season to start the work.
Week 3 (20th to 26th January 2013)
We saw how we can cut the profiles and when we found a nice solution, we did it.
The profiles didn’t look good, so our mentor
make us check it.
The next day, we made the changes
to the profiles. Not was a long stance,
but we had a great advance.
Saturday 26th, we met knowing that
we only have 3 weeks to go. In
Mechanic we put the profiles to finish
the triangle form and get a strong and
confinable structure, and then we
calculated the measure of the bands. At the end of the day we met with
the rest of the team to show them the advance.
Week 4 (27th January to 2nd February 2013)
In Tuesday 29 th , our Coach, José Pablo, led the axes that we would use in
the pulleys. We calculate the distance
and cut the axes to the perfect
measure.
In Thursday 31st, we moved the motors
of place to let the members of
Electronic work. We advance so much
and we are enthusiastic of the work,
On
Saturday February 2nd, we solicited the
help of Panteras 2283 team to can use their
installations and keep working on the robot;
cause in our installation will change the
electric infrastructure.
We start to put the axes of the bands for our
system. While one calculate the axe, others
cut and others checked the things ready.
Also, we put the motor in the window that
we’re going to use to can move it.
We finished
the system
and we make probes; it didn’t work at all so
we change it. At least, we chosen a mini
CIM to use it.
Week 5 (3rd to 9th February 2013)
The Saturday 3rd, we went to the UP to see the way that we will put the
motors.
Our Couch José Pablo gave
us a material that we will put
in the bands, and will support
the Frisbees; it doesn’t work.
We made a space for the
profiles in the back so the
Frisbee can pass and we
started to design the plate to
raise the discs of the floor.
On Monday 4th, we went
again to the UP, we took a
breakfast and started to work.
We did the plate to raise the discs and we put it into the chassis. We prove
it.
With the new band, and the new
pulley, we put a mechanism of
three bands for the system.
On Wednesday 6 th , we finished
the idea for the feeder; we cut
acrylic and the profiles to use it
as a guide. We showed how it
will be in an easy way.
On Thursday 7th, we put the
profiles and the acrylic, and we
were proving the discs to know
where stop it.
We put all the things in our system
and after that, we prove the motor
and it worked.
On Tuesday 5 th , in our workshop,
we cut the profiles for the back
and we fix it to can be in the
chassis.
On Friday 8th, we start to think how to raise the Frisbees. With the help of
hooks in the band, we did it. We pasted it with yarn and glue. We checked
the motor, and it was so tense, so we removed the band.
On Saturday 9th, we cut profiles for the system rails. We put it and prove it to
check the discs. We checked it without motor and it was great. This was the
hardest week but all is going right, so we expected that the things go as
now.
Week 6 (10th to 16th of February 2013)
We were back to the workshop on Monday 11 th . We put the catcher in the
low side and we checked the inclination so the discs can be cached easy.
Also, we modify the distances of the
hooks. We don’t want that the Frisbees
get stuck in the band, so we talked with
our mentor about use a wheel in the top
of the robot to can use two discs in the
feeder part, and two in the bands. We
prove wheels to use it and checked the
positions to expulse the discs from the
floor to inside.
On Tuesday 12th, we presented the
motor of the window for the system,
ut now in the feeder, using a Wheel. This is going to work pressing a button,
then, the wheel will roll and the discs will slice to the bands.
On Wednesday 13 th , we sanded a piece to can fix the motor with the
wheel that will catch the discs from the floor. We checked the motor,
because the circumference was smaller. That day we didn’t made so
much, but the things we did, were important.
On Thursday 14 th , we changed all the nuts by locknuts. We did proofs and
change positions because the discs can’t pass well.
As well, we helped to the doughnuts
sell in the school.
On Friday 15th, we did again the axis
that is in the motor and make the
system more effective.
We painted the catcher, cleaned all
the corners of the robot and made
the bumpers with the angles of the
wood.
The Couches went to pick the motors
Victor’s to put it the next day. All was
ready.
On Saturday 16th, we arrived early
and we noted that the pulley in the
low side was deforming, so, we
changed it. We finished the Bumpers too.
We took the robot of the World Trade Center (WTC Mexico City) to a
practice event of Panteras team. We change the hooks and finished the
mechanic part. We waited the Electric part to can make tests.

Week 3 (20 to 26 January 2013)
We gathered in the campus, and we check if any tools and materials were
missing.
We were supporting the design of the robot base: the tire alignment and
screeds to place.
By the Pythagorean Theorem we
calculated the angle, cathetus
and hypotenuse corresponding
to every sill.
Jose Pablo went purchase the
material we needed, then
between errors and repetitions,
we fixed corresponding screeds.
The next day we set up a basic
circuit and we collaborated in
restoring the greenhouse of the
institute, in project named
“AZTECH Green”.
Week 4 (January 27 to February 2, 2013)
In this week we can stand out the visit to the UP, because in Aztech's
institute facilities we had no electricity, which is essential for our work.
At the facilities we were assigned a specific work area, and began working.
According to the sill set, we cut the acrylic for the Distribution Power Board,
Analog Brakout, Victor's and cRio.
Our mentors helped us to review the distribution and wiring so that it was
positioned correctly.
At the end of the day, we organized the materials and electronic parts.
Week 5 (3rd to 9th February 2013)
This week we met to cut the acrylic of the design of the robot.
Cut the acrylic was a bit hard because sometimes it moved or the pieces
can broke.
We put with Velcro the battery, the cRio, the Access Point and the victor’s
of all the motors.
Also, we realized tests of the movements of the bands. José Pablo told us
that the activities will end at 6:00pm.
Week 6 (10th to 16th February 2013)
This week we had a hard work. We were cutting acrylic for the 5 victor’s
and we checked the cabled.
We had some troubles with the acrylic, but fortunately we solved it.
On Friday, we finished the cabled and the acrylics.
All except the victor’s that didn’t have arrived.
On Saturday, we received the 5 vectors: ¡Finally!
So we focus on connect it right. After that, we
talked with the guys of Security and Electronic
participated showing the tools that we use.
The team Panteras organized connivance in a
World Trade Center to can solve some doubts and
prove the robots. Electronic worked until 8:00pm,
¡We finished the cabled!
We checked the polarity of the cables and the
fusible. To finish the day, we practiced with the
Frisbee.

We started to talk about what we should do and how we do it.
We installed LabView in the laptop and create the ISO to pass it to the
other members. Also, we installed the OS of the machine that was inside the
FRC kit.
Week 2 (13th to 19th January 2013)
Good news! We met some mentors that will help us in the robot. We were
already ready, but its good have new people that can guide us.
Programming was passing copies of the
program to the members and by this
way, all of them can have in their
computers.
In this season, we talked about that the
program has to be easy. We mean than
the process have to be easy, not using a
lot of memory.
Week 3 (20th to 26th January 2013)
Tuesday 22nd January, 2013.
Joysticks, the motors, clusters to
control the moves, and include the
watch dog to check the process.
Friday February 8 th .
We analyzed de code to make the
robot back after a hit.
Week 6 (10th to 16th February 2013)
We programmed the way of tele-operate and we have worked in the
autonomous way in the morning.
In the afternoon, we went to
the WTC, where we moved
the cables of the
components and we
eliminated cycles.
In the eliminated cycles, where the While loop and the Case Structure to
can make easier the reaction of the robot with the joysticks.
We configurated the cRio to charge the program and make tests.
Sunday February 17th.
We changed electric mistakes of the bad installation of cables in the PWM
ports.
We charged the program and made test of manipulation, like the bands,
the dispenser, the motors, etc.
We modified the buttons of the joystick to can make the driver feel
comfortable and with more control in the competence.
The drivers keep doing the tests to our area can check mistakes.

During the six weeks of the challenge, the Industrial Security area was
responsible for keeping order in the workshop, for which purpose have
generated different important documents as the regulation that each of
the team members must follow to the verbatim, according to the area to
which they belong.
Safety Regulations
What is Industrial Security?
Industrial safety is a group of techniques which adapt and adopt in the
prevention of accidents and occupational risks considering that any work
activity has inherent dangers that need a proper management.
In Aztech, as in our lives, health and safety in the workplace is essential, it is
for this reason that below are set out a set of rules. The proper monitoring of
these can prevent accidents, risks and occupational diseases in the team.
It will prepare a previous record to each team member to know their health
status and further they will be asked a certificate backed up by the
Secretary of Health and Public Assistance.
During the preseason there will be an intensive course to the members to
learn about the health and safety measures with which the team counts in
each of the areas. And knowledge about tools and their proper use.
In case of no fulfill the appropriate standards, you cannot be part of our
team.
Mechanics and electronics.
Work clothing.
Wear safety glasses all the time.
In case of working with heavy tools, wear helmets and gloves to
avoid injury.
To enter the heavy machinery workshop must wear the uniform
(clothing, including: short sleeves, jeans or overalls, slip-resistant shoes, and
equipment: gloves and safety glasses) to prevent accidents.
In case of using any tool you should select the right gloves for this
activity
It is essential to use the right size clothing.
Stay in the workshop.
When entering the workshop you must to put in a plastic container all
manner of electronic device to avoid any distraction and thus to prevent
an accident.
Consuming food is strictly prohibited within the workspace.
They must keeping order and respect among teammates at any
moment to prevent risks and accidents in the area
There will be a check list every 30 minutes in the workshop to check
the cleanliness in space, equipment and tools, where the minimum
standard of assessment is 9 "a clean area is a safe area"
At the end of the work you must return the equipment and tools to
the place intended for them, leaving the area clean and free
Using tools in the workshop.
You should provide the proper use to each tool "the right tool for the
right job"
When finished using a tool must be in place in its original place.
The manager of the area will earmarked for a person to be in charge
of inventorying every time the session ends.
When using heavy tool, the coach will verify that the correct
technique is used.
Programming
Work clothing.
Wear the shirt compulsorily granted by Aztech robotics.
Using anti-reflective lenses.
Stay in the workshop
Before starting work, monitor the proper functioning of computers in
terms of:
PLAN DE
NEGOCIOS 2013
“POKTLIBOT”
Comunicación, Finanzas y nuestro proyecto AZTECH GREEN).
aprendizaje, desarrollo personal y compañerismo (Gracious Professionalism)
mentores Oscar Montoya y José Pablo Athie.
a comer juntos unas deliciosas pizzas.
convivencia.
Somos un equipo
totalmente nuevo, con
integrantes de
secundaria y
preparatoria y que
anteriormente no
habíamos tenido
relación alguna, es por
ello que realizar
actividades
integradoras(jugar futbol) es de vital importancia.
Semana 5
vender donas.
Una vez determinados los
documentos que
debíamos entregar para
la inscripción a este
programa, nos
encargamos de solicitar
los permisos
correspondientes con la
administración de la
escuela. Ya autorizadas
nuestras actividades fue
momento de hacer
promoción a nuestro
evento, para lo cual el
equipo de comunicación
se encargó de la
creación de la
publicidad.
Semana 6
sería el Kick-Off,
nuestros mentores
medalla.
FIRST.
Valores
KICK –OFF
5 de Enero de 2013
La mañana de este día
el equipo se reunió
desde muy temprano en
Plantel Azteca donde un
autobús nos esperaba
para llevarnos hasta el
Instituto Tecnológico de
Monterrey en su campus
Toluca.

grandes satisfacciones: AZTECH GREEN.
ITAM
y después acudimos a registrarnos.
GREEN, nuestro gran proyecto.
semana a semana.
poder irnos a la UP
(Universidad
nuestro Head Coach Oscar
Montoya, y contamos con la
presencia de la Lic. Erika
Argándar, Directora de Proyectos
Educativos de Fundación Azteca,
la Ing. María Teresa Badillo,
Directora del Plantel Azteca y el
Lic. Clemente Cartujano
conocimos a varias personas
importantes en el medio del
espectáculo.
Cerca de las cinco de la
tarde cumplimos con nuestra
meta y estábamos muy
contentos y orgullosos de
nosotros mismos.

esos perfiles. No estuvimos mucho
tiempo, pero esta semana tuvimos un
avance notable.
El sábado 26 nos reunimos, sabiendo
que ya sólo nos quedan 3 semanas a
partir de este día para acabar con
nuestro robot.
reforzado y no tengamos algún
inconveniente. Estuvimos colocando
seguridad. Se fijó el motor a la llanta
que nos ayudará a recoger discos del
suelo. Hicimos las pruebas y vimos que
funciona, pero tuvimos que cambiarlo
de posición porque los discos no
pasaban del todo bien. Les ayudamos
a barrenar acrílicos a los compañeros
de electrónica, para que puedan
colocar los Victor’s que necesitamos.
Nuestros head-coach no estaban, y
Empezamos a definir

solera.
José Pablo salió a realizar compras
Board, Analog Brakout, Victor’s y cRio.
World Trade Center para solucionar dudas y
probar los robots. Al llegar al World Trade Center
se nos asignó nuestra respectiva área de trabajo;
prácticamente el Área de Electrónica estuvo
trabajando hasta las 8:00 p.m. ¡Logramos terminar
