Alexis Bustos, un ingeniero en Transporte oriundo de
Valparaíso, fue llamado para elaborar la propuesta de
esta licitación de recorrido. Hoy es el gerente general de
Trolebuses de Chile S.A. y con orgullo nos relata que
uno de sus mayores logros ha sido poder sacar adelante
esta empresa.
Alexis Bustos, a Transportation Engineer from Valparaiso, was
called upon to develop a proposal for this route bid. Today, he
is the General Manager of Trolebuses de Chile Inc. and with
pride he tells us that one of his biggest achievements has been
to make this company move ahead.
¿Cuál es la situación actual de los trolebuses?
Cuando tomamos la empresa no había infraestructura. Ha sido
mucho trabajo y sacrificio de técnicos y operarios para
rearmarla, ya que el costo operacional asociado es alto. Hoy
está conformada por 68 personas, entre operadores,
conductores, vigilantes, aseadores, personal de administración,
entre otros. Trabajan 2 mujeres como conductoras, quienes por
supuesto, tienen las mismas condiciones laborales que un
hombre. En un momento hubo 5 mujeres, nos hemos percatado
que los trolebuses son un tema de interés de la mujer, aun
cuando sabe que entra en un mundo de hombres. Esto, a
diferencia de los conductores de microbuses en donde me
atrevería a decir que no existe participación femenina en la
región.
Cuando representas el 20% de la demanda de los pasajeros, te
das cuenta que los troles están más vigentes que nunca. A su
vez, este medio de transporte representa el 4% del parque
automotriz de Valparaíso.
What is the current situation of trolley buses?
When we took the company there was no infrastructure. To put
it back together has taken a lot of work and sacrifice from
technicians and operators, given that the operational cost
associated is high. Today, it is made up of 68 people, among
them operators, drivers, security guards, cleaning and
administrative staff, among others. There are two women
drivers whom of course have the same working conditions as
men. At one point, there were five women. We have realized
that trolley buses are a topic of interest for women, even when
they know they enter a world of men. This is different from bus
drivers, where I dare to say there are no women working in the
region.
When you represent 20% of the passengers´ demands, you
realize that trolleys are more valid than ever. At the same time,
this means of transportation represents 4% of Valparaiso´s car
usage.
