Abstract: <br />
The Costa Rican Tax System has as main actors the Ministry of Finance, which acts through <br />
the Directorate G<strong>en</strong>eral of Taxation (DGT), the Administrative Tax Courts as well as the <br />
local governm<strong>en</strong>ts. <br />
The Costa Rican tax system is complex and disperses, with a number of direct and indirect <br />
charges on economic activities. Some of the main taxes at the national level are the income <br />
tax and the sales tax. Real estate transactions are also taxed. At a local or municipal level <br />
there are further charges such as a pat<strong>en</strong>t for the operation of businesses, as well as <br />
charges on public <strong>en</strong>tertainm<strong>en</strong>t ev<strong>en</strong>ts, construction permits and real estate ownership. <br />

Introducción <br />
El pres<strong>en</strong>te <strong>en</strong>sayo pret<strong>en</strong>de hacer una descripción de los aspectos más importantes que <br />
integran el régim<strong>en</strong> tributario costarric<strong>en</strong>se, el cual posee un amplio cuadro jurídico. <br />
D<strong>en</strong>tro de estos aspectos se destacan sus principales actores, los cuales son la Dirección <br />
G<strong>en</strong>eral de Tributación, el Tribunal Fiscal Administrativo y las municipalidades. <br />
Asimismo, sin buscar ser exhaustivos, se <strong>en</strong>listan los principales tributos y su marco <br />
jurídico, con el fin de señalar los aspectos característicos de estos tributos; y se continúa <br />
analizando el régim<strong>en</strong> recursivo, como derecho que posee todo contribuy<strong>en</strong>te de reclamar <br />
cuando no se <strong>en</strong>cu<strong>en</strong>tra de acuerdo con alguna resolución de la Dirección G<strong>en</strong>eral de <br />
Tributación. <br />
