El poliéster es un compuesto de fibra de vidrio y resina. Un material no poroso y totalmente impermeable.<br />
Una vez testada su resistencia a la humedad dureza de constitución, ligereza y resistencia, se empezó a utilizar en la<br />
industria naval hace más de 50 años sustituyendo al poco tiempo a la madera y al hierro como material de fabricación<br />
de cascos de barco.<br />
Desde entonces, el poliéster ha desbancado por prestaciones a otros materiales en infinidad de aplicaciones: recubrimiento<br />
de piscinas, impermeabilizaciones, chasis de fórmula 1, etc. Gracias a él ha sido posible ampliar horizontes en la industria<br />
e inventar elementos inexistentes que no podían ser fabricados con el material preciso; determinadas matrices, moldes,<br />
cámaras frigoríficas industriales...<br />
