La Ciudad del Sol y del Acero
Sogamoso es conocida como la Ciudad del Sol, acá se encuentran los vestigios del
Templo del Sol, el centro religioso de la cultura Muisca. Allí acudían indígenas de
todo el altiplano cundiboyacense a rendir culto al Astro Rey.
En el museo Antropológico, se encuentra la colección más grande de la cultura
Muisca del país; más de 5.000 piezas, entre vasijas en barro, pinturas rupestes,
herramientas de caza y otros utencilios elaborados por esta civilización.
En este museo, podemos ver algunas momias y aprender acerca del proceso de
momificación de los muiscas, entre otros temas.
En este municipio, la economía se basa en la industria siderúrgica y de materiales
de construcción; además de la explotación de calizas, carbón y mármol. Sus
celebraciones tradicionales son las fiestas del Sol y del Acero.
