Textos adicionales informan sobre las condiciones locales y el contexto sociopolítico. ‘Nanarh Yukpapi’ represents the Sokorpa-Yukpa’s confident step into the public domain. They want the world to know about their existence, their way of life and their tireless struggle for their territory in Northeastern Colombia. For this photo book, the leaders and inhabitants of the Sokorpa territorial unit have teamed up with a photographer and a social and cultural anthropologist. Unique photos and individual stories allow for a personal approach to the photographees. Additional texts provide information about local living conditions and the socio-political context.

De todas maneras, hay que hacer reunión, como siempre hemos<br />

hecho, para consultar con las comunidades, a ver cómo les<br />

p<strong>are</strong>ce, si les p<strong>are</strong>ce bien, a ver si están de acuerdo. Hay que<br />

llevarles información. Yo me pongo enfrente de esto. Hay que<br />

hacer reunión para hacer saber a las comunidades...<br />

My name is Mario González. I’m the representative of<br />

the Santa Rita community. I like these pictures. Anyway,<br />

<strong>we</strong> have to organize a meeting, as <strong>we</strong> always have done,<br />

to consult with the communities, to see how they feel<br />

about it, if they like the idea, to see if they agree. We<br />

have to inform them. I will take c<strong>are</strong> of that. We have to<br />

organize a meeting to let the communities know.<br />
