50 veces gracias. La familia Gómez & Molina celebra medio siglo de vida con
una nueva entrega de su magazine, un magazine que por derecho propio es
especial. Por eso, queremos compartir con ustedes Gómez & Molina Joyeros
número 9, la cifra del genio artístico, del sentido humanitario, de la tendencia
al romance y a lo emotivamente sentimental, atributos que entroncan
directamente con nuestros padres fundadores, Miguel Ángel Gómez Verdún
y Antonia Molina Navarro. Su persistencia, su generosidad y esa infatigable
capacidad de empuje hacen que hoy día ustedes puedan estar leyendo estas
palabras. Un sentido homenaje al pasado que nos refuerza en el presente

I worked at a jewellery house at the age of 15 and was captivated by the
diamonds and gemstones.

auténticas obras de arte. Cuanto más rara sea, ¿mejor?
Mi mayor pasión es encontrar gemas raras, diferentes y convertirlas en joyas

You are a specialist in finding rare stones and transforming them into
authentic works of art. The rarer, the better?
My greatest passion is finding rare, different, gemstones and turning them into
stunning jewellery.
Además, tiene especial cuidado en cortar cada pieza. ¿Cómo se corta
una piedra colosal de más de 100 quilates de tamaño?
No importa cuál sea el tamaño. Nosotros hacemos el corte con cuidado y a
mano. Aprendí desde joven de los grandes maestros.
In addition, you take special care in cutting each piece. How do you
cut a colossal stone larger than 100 carats in size?
It doesn’t matter what size it is. We cut carefully and by hand. I learned at an
early age from the great masters.
Usted colabora con Brooke Shields y Angelina Jolei, ¿en qué se
diferencian ambas colecciones?
Ambas tienen su propio estilo. Compartimos amistad desde hace muchos años
y con cada una de ellas hemos diseñado y trabajado juntos en su propio estilo
y personalidad.
You collaborate with Brooke Shields and Angelina Jolie, how are the
two collections different?
They both have their own style. We’ve been friends for a lot of years and with
each of them, we’ve designed and worked together on their own style and
personality.

Cuando vendimos una gema importante que posibilitó la construcción de un
albergue-escuela.

Siempre ha sido sido una de las firmas de diseñadores en nuestro negocio. La

more than thirty years, you have been an active agent of numerous
charities for underprivileged children. Tell us a bit about your feelings.
At high school, we served in kitchens that helped the homeless, which opened

¿Cuándo empezó a sentirse atraída por el mundo de la joyería?
He estado enamorada de los accesorios, las piedras y el diseño desde que
tengo memoria. Cuando tenía 13 años de edad, creé una colección de
accesorios de cristal para el cabello, y ahí fue cuando todo empezó realmente
para mí. Siempre he tenido un espíritu muy emprendedor y un fuerte deseo de
crear.
Usted empezó su camino en 1995 con una colección que lleva su
nombre. ¿En qué ha cambiado la Colette actual?
Creo que la marca Colette ha evolucionado enormemente desde 1995, pero
nuestra ética y sensibilidad de diseño siguen siendo las mismas. Para mí se
trata de crear arte portátil, piezas que son vanguardistas pero que se pueden
usar con jeans y una camiseta. Traté de crear esto en 1995 y sigue siendo mi
enfoque hoy.
Sus antecedentes franco-mexicanos impregnan sus joyas.
Mi trabajo está muy influenciado por mi herencia franco-mexicana. Creo que mi
enfoque hacia la joyería fina combina los detalles delicados y románticos que
recuerdan a París, con el drama y la vitalidad de la Ciudad de México.

home in her native Saint-Germain-des-Prés,
Colette Steckel is always devising new ways for
modern women to wear her fine jewellery. Her
desire is both practical and artistic: works of art that excite women
but are decidedly ready-to-wear.
When did you start to feel attracted to the world of jewelry?
I’ve been in love with accessories, stones and design for as long as I can
remember.. When I was 13-years-old, I created a collection of crystal hair
accessories, and that’s when everything really started for me. I’ve always had a
very entrepreneurial spirit and a strong desire to create.
You started your journey in 1995 with a collection that bears his
name. How has the current Colette changed?
I think the Colette brand has evolved tremendously since 1995, but our ethos
and design sensibility remain the same. For me it’s about creating wearable art,
pieces that are Avant-garde yet can be worn with jeans and a tee shirt. I sought
to create this in 1995 and it’s remains my focus today.
Your Franco-Mexican genes permeate your jewelry.
My work is highly influenced by my French-Mexican heritage. I think my
approach to fine jewelry blends the delicate, romantic details reminiscent of
Paris, with the drama and vibrancy of Mexico City.
And your travels too…
I usually spend 4 to 6 weeks every summer in a destination that is new to
me, and completely immerse myself in their culture. This provides endless
inspiration and drives me to continue creating.

It’s funny – I feel like I’m just beginning! There is so much more I want to
accomplish in this lifetime . . . but you’ll have to watch to find out what’s next!

preferida?
Mi colección favorita es y siempre será mi firma Galaxia. Creo que es con lo
que más me identifico: mi deseo constante de buscar, explorar las galaxias,
mi curiosidad innata y mi sentido del descubrimiento.
Talking about Colette ... You have a lot of collections, which one t is
your favorite?
My favorite collection is and always will be my signature Galaxia. I think it’s
what I identify with the most – my constant desire to look up, explore the
galaxies, my innate curiosity and sense of discovery.

Adrenalina, emoción… Eso es lo que siento al ver cómo mis joyas cobran
vida en tantas mujeres talentosas, hermosas y pioneras. Cada una de ellas ha
sido un sueño con el que trabajar, pero creo que la que más emoción me ha
causado hasta ahora ha sido Michelle Obama. ¡Nunca olvidaré despertar la
mañana después de ver fotos de ella con tres de mis anillos de diamantes!

of its main inventions, the quadruple tourbillon.

a vuelta al mundo en un reloj
No dan nada por seguro, huyen de lo convencional y se aventuran
a cualquier empresa por imposible que parezca. Así es Greubel
Forsey, y es que la firma de La Chaux-de-Fonds lo ha vuelto a
hacer. Robert Greubel y Stephen Forsey presentan una pieza que atesora un
cuádruple tourbillon, un reloj con una versión tridimensional del GMT que hace
gala de un globo terráqueo extragrande, detallado y además, giratorio.
Reinterpretar lo imposible
Para Robert Greubel y Stephen Forsey había una máxima: “reimaginar el
principio del tourbillon”, hecho que originó sus tres primeros inventos
fundamentales –el Double Tourbillon 30° (2004), el Quadruple Tourbillon
(2005) y el Tourbillon 24 Secondes (2006)-. Ahora, el GMT Quadruple Tourbillon
aúna dicha complicación con una pantalla de zona horaria múltiple. Además
de refinar el concepto del tourbillon, se dispusieron inteligentemente los
tourbillones en pares ideando un sistema único de jaulas compactas: cuando
se combinan, las diferentes velocidades de rotación de las dos jaulas anulan

It takes nothing for granted, it flees from the conventional and
it takes a stab at any undertaking no matter how impossible it
seems. Those are the traits of Greubel Forsey, and the company
from La Chaux-de-Fonds has done it again. Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey
are presenting a timepiece featuring a quadruple tourbillon, a watch with a
three-dimensional version of the GMT that boasts an extra-large, detailed,
rotating globe.
Reinterpreting the impossible
Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey had a goal: “to reimagine the tourbillon
principle”, which led to their first three fundamental inventions, the Double
Tourbillon 30° (2004), the Quadruple Tourbillon (2005) and the Tourbillon
24 Secondes (2006). Now the GMT Quadruple Tourbillon is combining this
complication with a multiple time zone display. In addition to refining the
concept of the tourbillon, they cleverly arranged the tourbillons in pairs, thus
creating a unique system of compact cages. When combined, the different
rotating speeds of the two cages cancel out the variations of time caused by
the Earth’s gravitational pull, thereby harnessing all the positions that can be
adopted by a wristwatch.

impresionante arquitectura tridimensional. El dial de las horas y los minutos
parece salir de la caja y cuenta, además, con una indicación cronométrica
de la reserva de marcha -72 horas-. El segundero coaxial y la indicación del
segundo huso horario –ajustable por medio de un pulsador- se ubican a las 4
horas y el globo terráqueo en movimiento entre las 8 y las 9 horas. Un anillo fijo
de 24 horas circunvala los tres elementos anteriores e indica la hora local de
todas las longitudes. Además, también señala el momento del día –día/noche
en zonas claras y oscuras respectivamente-. Finalmente, una ventana lateral
en la sección asimétrica de la caja permite una visión única del ecuador y del

If that weren’t enough, the Greubel Forsey Quadrupe Tourbillon GMT features
a stunning three-dimensional architecture. The hours/minutes dial seems to
jump out of the case and also has an indication of the power reserve (up to 72
hours). The coaxial small seconds and the second time zone indicator, which
can be adjusted via a push-button, are located at 4 o’clock and the rotating
globe, between 8 and 9 o’clock. A fixed 24-hour ring surrounds the three
aforementioned elements and indicates local time for all the longitudes. It also
denotes the time of day (day/night in light/dark zones, respectively). Moreover,
a lateral window on the asymmetric section of the case shows a unique view of
the equator and the southern hemisphere.

Después de trabajar para joyerías conocidas en todo el mundo,
finalmente en 2014 crea su propia firma. ¿Por qué?
Siempre he tenido una gran pasión por el diseño y el arte. Soy licenciada en
diseño de modas y me encantan las bellas artes como la pintura, la cerámica y
la escultura. Desde mi infancia, he estado soñando con poder crear mi propia

After working for well-known jewelers around the world, finally in
2014 you created you own firm. Why?
I’ve always been highly passionate about design and art. I have a degree in
Fashion Design and I love fine arts like painting, ceramics and sculpture. Since
I was a child, I dreamt about being able to create my own brand one day. I can
say that the idea of my jewellery becoming part of people’s important moments
inspired me to create Monan. I hope that Monan is the brand that brings
happiness to generations.

Tengo que admitir que fue difícil. Antes de crear mi propia marca, estuve

How were the beginnings? It mustn’t be easy…
I have to admit that it wasn’t easy. Before creating my own brand, I was
working with a handful of prestigious brands for several years. Many people in
the industry, from important gemstone merchants to extraordinary jewellery
masters and jewellery lovers, knew me personally and motivated me.

Diseños originales y femeninos, las piezas de Monan destacan por su
singularidad. ¿De dónde viene su inspiración?
Me encanta soñar mucho y podría decir que tengo una imaginación salvaje.
Me alimento principalmente de sueños, libros, historias, mis viajes, arte,
arquitectura, cuentos de hadas, etc. Todo lo que pueda inspirarme en la
vida también me da inspiración para la creación de joyas.
Sin los maestros que trabajan las piezas, sería
imposible tener una… ¿Cómo valora su trabajo?
El arte de la joyería es una mezcla de habilidades y
conocimientos artesanales extraordinarios que se
transfieren de una generación a la siguiente. Hoy
en día el número de marcas que todavía producen
joyería hecha a mano está disminuyendo día a día.
En mi opinión, sin la creatividad de un artesano
talentoso con su explosión individual de inspiración e
imaginación, el resultado sería una decepción.
Original and feminine designs, Monan pieces stand out for their
uniqueness. Where does your inspiration come from?
I love to dream a lot and I could say that I have a wild imagination. I mainly feed
off of dreams, books, stories, my trips, art, architecture, fairy tales, etc. Everything
that can inspire me in life also gives me inspiration to create jewellery.
Without the experts who work the pieces, it would
be impossible to have one ... How do you rate their
work?
The art of jewellery making is a mix of extraordinary
crafting skills and knowledge passed on from one
generation to the next. Today, the number of brands
still making handmade jewellery is decreasing day by
day. Without the creativity of a talented craftsperson
with his or her individual explosion of inspiration and
imagination, the result would be a deception, in my
opinion.
Para finalizar. ¿Qué tiene en mente para Monan en el
futuro?
Nuestro objetivo para los próximos años es llevar la marca Monan a los

Hôtel de Nocé
Master gilders and framers, a well-known cabinetmaker and even the Countess
of Castiglione (an Italian spy who seduced Napoleon III) have passed through
this building constructed in 1717. Frédéric de Boucheron acquired it in 1893
to make it the first jeweller on Place Vendôme. With the support of the Kering
Group, this building, listed as a historical monument 1930, underwent a
refurbishment 160 years later. To do so, the Boucheron family worked with
Michel Goutal, a chief architect of historical monuments, a distinction granted
to professionals specialising in restorations (there are only 39 in France), and
interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, who is responsible for hotels like the
Savoy in London, the Shangri-La in Paris and several Four Seasons.

J12, a desire is born
When Jacques Helleu, Chanel’s creative director, created the J12, he drew his inspiration from his two favourite
areas: motor racing, with the stylish lines of race cars, and sailing, with the noble silhouettes of America’s Cup
sailboats. The J12 underwent a facelift 20 years later, but without losing even an ounce of the essence which
led to its success and forged its legend.
Twenty years after being created, Arnaud Chastaingt, director of the CHANEL Watch Creation Studio, changed
the look of the J12 while retaining its identity, fruit of its success and legend.

On the fly deck of the Metis there is a customised gym designed by Kurt Lehmann and Giorgio M. Cassetta which offers a panoramic view of the sea
through sliding glass doors on the bow and stern sides and glass windows on the starboard and port sides. The bridge deck houses the helm station, with
extensive sea views, and the captain’s cabin. The outdoor areas, including the dining and lounging areas, are designed to ensure that the outdoors can be
enjoyed at any time of day. The upper deck features a lovely lounge area with grand piano and bar as well as expansive outdoor areas with a round dining
table and another recreational area for social gatherings. Meanwhile, the centre and bow of the superyacht are reserved for the owner with an apartment
that provides complete privacy. With an area of 162 square metres, it is nearly completely surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass offering exceptional views
and allowing for an abundance of natural light. The spacious owner’s cabin at the far end of the bow has two bathrooms, one with a sauna and shower
and the other with a bathtub. The apartment is completed with a 55 m2 terrace and a helipad. The main deck has a salon with a large recreational area,
a backgammon table and a dining area with a long rectangular table. The main deck also hosts a children’s playroom and a twin cabin with a nanny room
attached, which also includes a small salon with arm chairs and a private terrace with sea views. Further down the bow, on starboard side, there is a garage
able to house a tender and two jet skis. The garage, for its part, has an unusual position nearly two metres above sea level in order to facilitate landing
operations regardless of marine weather conditions. The main feature of the lower deck, which has four large guest cabins and crew accommodation for 12,
is the beach club to the stern with its specially arranged furniture and two side terraces that can be opened up to the aft platform, transforming the area
into an original lounge area in the sea that is remarkable in size and truly innovative.
The heart of the Metis
The vessel is powered by twin MTU 12V4000M53 engines for a top speed of 16 knots and a cruising range of 5,000 nm at 12 knots.

The Mustang Bullitt 2019 is a pristine sports car with
480 horsepower and 596 Nm of torque delivered by its
manual transmission atmospheric 5-litre V8 engine. Inside
it is equipped with the same type of seats as the Mustang

The 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt has an active valve performance exhaust system
with quad tips, which allows the driver to control the volume of the Mustang
exhaust, thus enabling a quiet start when you want to make less noise and an
energy boost when out on open road. As for the breaking system, it has redpainted
Brembo brake calipers as standard.
Traditional essence, contemporary equipment
As for the centre console, it is a fully-configurable 12-inch LCD digital display
with a design that changes when you cycle between various driving modes. It
makes it possible to fully control everything the driver needs to see and offers
the ability to customise the driving mode, thus allowing the most to be made
out of the driving experience. It is quick, intuitive and easy-to-use.
In terms of the sound system, the basic stereo is a nine-speaker unit found on
the premium trims on all Mustangs. It has SYNC 3 with voice control, Bluetooth,
USB input, AM/FM, satellite radio and support for Android Auto and Apple
CarPlay. Meanwhile, you can optionally choose the Bullitt electronics package, a
12-speaker B&O Play sound system with navigation, CD player and HD Radio.

Zanzíbar es una región semiautónoma de Tanzania -costa este
de África Central- que, debido a su condición insular y sobre
todo a las culturas que se asentaron ahí a partir del siglo XV,
presenta una cultura divergente. Primero, se asentaron los
portugueses; dos siglos después, los árabes de Omán, quienes
fundaron un sultanato vertebrado en el comercio y en la integración de las
culturas islámica y swahili. Viejas fortalezas portuguesas dejaban paso a casas
árabes de amplios patios, mezquitas e incluso, iglesias anglicanas.

Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous region of Tanzania -on the east
coast of Central Africa- that, owing to the fact that it is an island
and to the cultures that settled there after the 15th century,
has a diverse culture. The Portuguese settled there first; two
centuries later, it was the turn of the Omani Arabs, who founded
a sultanate centred on trade and on integrating Islamic and Swahili cultures.
Former Portuguese fortresses gave way to Arab houses with large courtyards,
mosques and even Anglican churches.
La independencia de ser diferente
Zanzíbar es una zona relativamente independiente de Tanzania en cuanto a
cultura, política y religión se refiere. La principal ciudad de Zanzíbar es Ciudad
Zanzíbar donde destaca Stone Town o Ciudad de Piedra, el centro histórico de
la ciudad, un espacio arabo-swahili edificado en piedras de coral que debido a
su singular arquitectura y cultura, fue declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad
por la Unesco en el año 2000. Esta localidad es famosa por las puertas de sus
casas, todas talladas a mano y que actúan como el escudo heráldico de la
familia que habita la casa. Según esté tallada informa del origen de la familia,
de su posición social y económica, de su religión, del oficio y también, del
número de hijos engendrados.
La Zanzíbar más salvaje
Casi la totalidad de la isla está circunvalada por arrecifes de coral y en las
profundidades aguarda una amalgama de flora y fauna en su estado más
auténtico y salvaje. La mejor opción es acercarse a Mnemba, un atolón de 28
kilómetros cuadrados donde compartir buceo con tortugas, delfines e infinidad
de especies exóticas. En tierra firme se encuentra Jozani Chwaka Bay National
Park, un bosque tropical repleto de monos colobos, una especie de simios
únicos en el mundo y muy simpaticones.
The independence of being different
Zanzibar is a relatively independent area of Tanzania in terms of culture, politics
and religion. Zanzibar’s largest city is Zanzibar City, which has a particularly
attractive historic centre, Stone Town, an Arab/Swahili area featuring coral
stone buildings that was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year
2000 due to its unique architecture and culture. It is famous for the doors on
its houses, all of which are hand-carved and serve as the heraldic shield of
the family inhabiting the house. Depending on how it is carved, it indicates
the family’s origin, as well as its social and economic position, its religion, its
occupation and the number of children conceived.
The wildest side of Zanzibar
Nearly the entire island is surrounded by coral reefs and in the depths there
awaits an amalgam of flora and fauna in its naturalist and wildest state. The
best option is to head to Mnemba, a 28-square-kilometre atoll where you
can dive with turtles, dolphins and many exotic species. On dry land is Jozani
Chwaka Bay National Park, a tropical forest full of colobus monkeys, a playful
species of monkey native to Zanzibar.
