La pandemida dejóen evidencia lo primordial que son las cadenas agroalimentariasdurante una crisis, pero más allá, deja expuesto el valioso trabajode miles de hombres y mujeres guatemaltecas que mantienenvivas dichas cadenas. Su esfuerzo bajo condiciones limitadas y derestricciones destaca su papel como héroes de la alimentación.Y no es para menos; alrededor del 70% de lo productos que seconsume en Guatemala provienen de la agricultura familiar, porlo que este día mundial además presenta el reto de reimaginary transformar los sistemas alimentarios para mantenerlosfuertes y activos bajo cualquier condición; acercando a lospequeños productores a los consumidores, utilizando tecnologíay herramientas innovadoras que les permitan producir más,de manera más sostenible, con empleos justos y en respeto almedioambiente.El pasado 16 de octubre, desde la Vicepresidencia de la Republicase organizó un espacio para reflexionar sobre la importancia deponer en marcha esfuerzos desde diferentes ópticas que permitanser más efectivos, y cumplir con el compromiso de Estado degarantizar la seguridad alimentaria y nutricional, para ello se contócon la participación de la Secretaría de Seguridad Alimentariay Nutricional, el Frente Parlamentario contra el Hambre, laProcuraduría de los Derechos Humanos, el Programa Mundialde Alimentos, y la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para laAlimentación y la Agricultura.Durante el evento, se afirmó que desde el Gobierno de Guatemala, através del Consejo Nacional de Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutricional,así como desde los Gabinetes de Desarrollo Económico y Social, seestán promoviendo acciones estratégicas que permitan aseguraruna alimentación adecuada para toda la población, con énfasis enla población vulnerable.De izquierda a derecha: Ricardo Rapallo, Representante de FAO Guatemala; Maritza Méndez, Secretaria de SESAN; Guillermo Castillo Reyes, Vicepresidente de la República deGuatemala; Jordán Rodas, Procurador de los Derechos Humanos, Laura Melo, Programa Mundial de Alimentos; Jairo Flores, Coordinador del Frente Parlamentario Contra el Hambre20CONASAN
