Nota 1: Si a,b ∈ Z + , el algoritmo <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> división correspon<strong>de</strong> a <strong>la</strong> división usual. Si a o b es<br />
negativo, <strong>la</strong> división usual difiere <strong>de</strong>l algoritmo <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> división.<br />
Nota 2: Para efectos <strong>de</strong> cálculo es mejor enunciar el algoritmo <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> división así:<br />
Teorema 2.3 (Algoritmo <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> división) Sean a,b ∈ Z con b �= 0. Existe r ∈ Z único tal que<br />
Si b > 0, a = b�a/b� + r con 0 ≤ r < b.<br />
Si b < 0, a = −b · �a/|b|� + r con 0 ≤ r < |b|.<br />
En este contexto, a/b <strong>de</strong>nota <strong>la</strong> división usual en R.<br />
El resto <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> división <strong>de</strong> a por b se <strong>de</strong>nota “ rem(a,b)” o también “ a mod b”. En forma compacta,<br />
a mod b = rem(a,b) = a − b · sgn(b)�a/|b|�, b �= 0.<br />
Si a y b son positivos, esta función coinci<strong>de</strong> con <strong>la</strong> función “Mod” <strong>de</strong> VBA y “%” <strong>de</strong> Java.<br />
EJEMPLO 2.3<br />
Dividir −12 por −5 :<br />

EJEMPLO 2.4<br />
En <strong>la</strong> división ordinaria −12 = 2 · −5 − 2.<br />
Des<strong>de</strong> el punto <strong>de</strong> vista <strong>de</strong>l algoritmo <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> división, como<br />
−3 · 5 ≤ −12 < −2 · 5, se tiene<br />
−12 = −3 · 5 + 3<br />
Si a = 2q + r con 0 ≤ r < 2. Si r = 0 a se dice par y si r = 1, a se dice impar.<br />

2.1 Dé un contraejemplo <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> afirmación: a|bc y a ∤ c entonces a|b<br />
2.2 Mostrar que si d|a ∧ d|(a + 1) entonces |d| = 1<br />
2.3 Sean d,n ∈ Z. Si d no divi<strong>de</strong> a n entonces ningún múltiplo <strong>de</strong> d divi<strong>de</strong> a n.<br />
2.4 Si d|a y d|b y si a = bq + r entonces d|r.<br />
2.5 Sea b �= 0 y a = qb + r con 0 ≤ r < |b|. Muestre que en el conjunto {a, a − 1, ..., a − |b| + 1}<br />
hay un único múltiplo <strong>de</strong> b.
