Entonces rn = mcd(a,b).
a = r0q1 + r1, 0 ≤ r1 < r0
r0 = r1q2 + r2, 0 ≤ r2 < r1
r1 = r2q3 + r3, 0 ≤ r3 < r2
.
rn−2 = rn−1qn + rn, 0 ≤ rn < rn−1
rn−1 = rnqn+1 + 0
EJERCICIOS 23
Prueba: Aplicando el algoritmo de la división obtenemos una sucesión decreciente de residuos
0 ≤ ... < r k < r k−1 < ... < r1 < r0. La sucesión es finita pues entre 0 y r0 solo puede haber un
número finito de enteros. Por tanto, debe haber un residuo mínimo. Si este mínimo es rn ≥ 0,
entonces rn+1 = 0.
De acuerdo al lema (2.2) tenemos que
Usando inducción matemática,
EJEMPLO 2.16
mcd(a,b) = mcd(a − r0q,r0)
= mcd(r1,r0)
= mcd(r1,r0 − r1q2)
= mcd(r1,r2)
= mcd(r1 − r2q2,r2)
= mcd(r3,r2)
mcd(a,b) = mcd(rn−1,rn) = mcd(rn,0) = rn. (2.1)
Vamos a aplicar el algoritmo de Euclides para calcular mcd(8,2) y mcd(78,32).
(1) mcd(8,2) = 2. En efecto; (2) mcd(78,32) = 2. En efecto;
8 = 2 · 4 + 0
Así, r0 = 2 y r 1 = 0.
78 = 32 · 2 + 14
32 = 14 · 2 + 4
14 = 4 · 3 + 2
4 = 2 · 2 + 0
