The decaying areas on mature normally colored fruit may at first become creamy yellow, then<br />

dark yellow and finally light buff. The fruit surface then becomes wrinkled and water-soaked.<br />

The disease readily spreads to other fruit by contact. Diseased fruit usually attracts insects,<br />

especially fruitflies. The fungus probably enters the fruit through injuries.<br />
