Introduction
to Digital Audio Broadcasting
The DAB add-on unit used in conjunction with
the Toyota DAB-ready car radios enables you
to receive DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting).

With DAB, you can receive radio with digital
sound quality. Unlike conventional radio, DAB
always transmits several Service Stations on a
single DAB Channel. These Service Stations are
grouped to form so-called "Ensembles". One
Ensemble consists of several, usually more than
six, Service Stations which broadcast different
audio content. At the same time, one Service
Station can also include sub-programs, the socalled
Components. Components can be
selected in the same way as Service Stations.
The UK, for example, has been allocated, at
this writing, seven DAB Channels within the
spectrum of Band III. This DAB radio supports
reception for both Band III and L-Band
broadcasts, where available.

When you scroll through the Service Stations,
you will automatically scroll through each
Component within the same Service Station, as
if they are individual Service Stations, but the
label "Component" will appear on the display.
