Wood Species & Warranty
decorative wood
Carvings and linear mouldings are available in North American hardwoods, including:
Alder (ALD) – superior clear FAS grade;
typical “rustic” characteristics are
defected out (such as heavy mineral,
heavy sap, or severe knots); pulled for
uniform pink coloration
Cherry (CH) – FAS select grade, pulled
for maximum red-colored heartwood
on the best face
Maple (MP/HMP) – New York and
Michigan select hard maple; FAS grade
1&2 white
Oak (OK) – FAS superior grade select
Appalachian red oak; pulled for wheat
color
Poplar (POP) – Southern FAS
natural poplar; a mixture of sap and
heartwood; blacks, purples, and greens
are acceptable; this is our paint-grade
species for linear mouldings
Fleur-de-Lis (FDL) – FAS grade pulled
for white/light yellow sapwood, but
some light brown heartwood is allowed
Most carvings are also available in species designed for price-sensitive projects, including:
Basswood (BW) – also known as
limewood or lindenwood, this soft
and lightweight species is a premier
carving hardwood; pulled for its creamy
white sapwood; texture is even and
fine; grain is faint, fine, and straight;
available in hand carved mouldings
as a paint-grade species but can also
be easily stained to match a variety of
hardwoods; basswood hand carved
mouldings are solid 8’ lengths with no
finger-jointing or lamination
Rubberwood (RW) – a member of the
maple family, this hardwood comes
from trees whose sap produces latex
(rubber); an environmentally friendly
wood due to its secondary use in
furniture and carvings; dense tight
grain with even coloration ranging
from pink to light brown; accepts stain
readily to match a wide variety of North
American species
White Birch (WB) – hardwoods
including Asian white birch, Russian
(Baltic) birch, and Asian soft maple; pale
white in color with finely textured grain
makes this species a good staining
alternative to hard maple
Wood & Moulding Warranty
Hardware Resources believes in quality, integrity, and reliability. We uphold the highest standards of service and
responsibility in the industry.
As such, Hardware Resources warrants all Wood and Moulding to be free from any defects in material and
workmanship. This warranty is valid for up to 1 year from the time of original purchase. Hardware Resources will send
the original consumer purchaser, without charge, new replacement product of equal size and species to replace
any defective wood or moulding product subject to this warranty. This warranty is a warranty of replacement only.
Hardware Resources specifically does not warrant removal of the defective product nor installation of the new
one. This warranty does not cover the finish work on the new product, product that has been incorrectly installed,
exposed to extreme temperatures or humidity, or otherwise used in any manner contrary to their intended purpose.
In the unlikely event that a defective Wood or Moulding is encountered, please contact Customer Service at
800.463.0660. Please be able to provide a brief description and photographs of the defect.

Mitered cabinet doors allow for frame profiles with curves, steps, raised details, rope, and more. More
decorative profile options mean more beautiful cabinets.
Strong Joints
Hardware Resources mitered joints have glue grooves on the tenon for
stronger adhesion. This makes the joint even stronger than a standard
mortise and tenon joint. Wide tenons provide increased surface area for
glue adhesion, creating the strongest possible mitered joints.
Tight Tolerances
We manufacture under the tightest possible tolerances +/- 1/32” as standard, which make our doors
perfect for most applications.

Plastic Space Balls
Many other cabinet door manufacturers
use rubber space balls, which can leak an oil
that will seep into the door and damage the
finish. Hardware Resources uses only plastic
space balls, which will not expel any oils.
Quality Lumber
FAS lumber and A-grade MDF-core plywood are used exclusively in all mitered door production.
These are premium material grades which ensure the most consistent and highest quality product for
every species.
Quality Control
Stress tests are performed routinely to ensure joint and glue integrity. Quality checkpoints are at
every step of the manufacturing process. Each door is examined under cross flow inspection lights for
final hand sanding before packing.

Center Panel Face Routing
Any flat panel (plywood P01) or reversed raised panel (hardwood P08) door
can be customized to have face routing added to the center panel. Any flat
panel (plywood P01) drawer front can also have face routing added.
Choose from V-Groove or Beaded routing pattern with 1-1/2” or 3”

Center Stiles & Rails
Center horizontal rails will be placed on doors over 60” in height. Center horizontal rail will be placed
to achieve a 50/50 split unless otherwise specified by customer. Warranty will be void if customer
refuses center rail placement on doors over 60” in height. An upcharge will also apply if customer
refuses center rail placement on raised panel doors over 60” in height.
If you want spacing other than 50/50, specify on your order which split you need for center rail
placement. For example, a 40/60 split means the lower panel is the larger panel and will comprise
60% of the total visual opening space, while the upper panel will comprise 40%.
Center vertical stiles will be placed on doors greater than 25” wide. Center vertical stile will be placed
to achieve a 50/50 split. Warranty will be void and an upcharge will apply if center stile is refused on
doors greater than 25” wide.

Mullion Doors
Mullion doors are manufactured for use with single pane glass only. Choose from three patterns:

Mullion doors over 48” tall will have a center rail. Mullion doors with center rails are not available on
F14, F16, F17, or 28.

Hardware Resources offers hinge boring on our mitered cabinet doors.
An upcharge per bore will be added to the order.
Standard tab dimension will be 3mm. Customers can specify tab ranging from -4mm to +6mm, in
1mm increments.

• Doors and drawer fronts have a squareness tolerance of +/- 1/32”.
All doors, drawer fronts, glued up panels, or center panels under 24” wide will have an allowable warpage
tolerance of 1/8”. All doors, drawer fronts, glued up panels, or center panels under 48” tall will have an allowable
warpage tolerance of 1/8”. Any items over 24” wide and/or over 48” tall will have a 1/4” warpage tolerance.

Warranty & Guidelines
Warranty
Hardware Resources warrants against defects in materials and workmanship of doors and drawer fronts in
an unfinished state as originally delivered. This warranty does not cover any installation or removal, labor,
travel time, or any related products used with our products. Any variation from our normal construction
specifications as outlined herein is not warranted by Hardware Resources.
Color and grain match between orders will not be guaranteed.
Dimensional tolerances are +/- 1/32”. There is a 1/8” tolerance for bow, warp, or twist for doors with
center panels under 24” wide or 48” tall. Any item with center panel over that size will have a ¼”
warpage tolerance. Any door with a single glued up panel over 24” wide will carry no warranty.
Claims on any order must be made within 1 week of receipt of order or prior to boring, hinging,
drilling, hanging, finishing, or any other modification. Doors must be returned to Hardware Resources
in their original condition for inspection. Any item received which has been hinged, hung, finished,
or shows signs of exposure to extremes in temperature, humidity, moisture, neglect, or any type of
modification, shall be void of any warranty or guarantee.

Hardware Resources is not liable for product damage due to product stored beyond 1 week from the
initial receipt, due to improper handling, storage, or not finishing/sealing the product.
Recommendations & Finishing
All Hardware Resources doors and drawer fronts are produced and shipped unfinished.
Changes in temperature, humidity, or other conditions will cause wood to naturally expand or
contract. Proper precautions and care must be taken during the storage, handling, and finishing of
doors.
We recommend that all doors and drawer fronts are block or sponge sanded to the same grit as the
face frame or cabinet. Finishing and sealing should be applied within 48 hours of final sanding. If
48 hours cannot be met, touch-up sanding may be required to achieve uniform stain results. The
entire door should receive two even coats of a high grade finish across all pieces of the door. We
recommend that all doors and drawer fronts be treated with a pre-sealer, especially when using
medium to dark finishes, to prevent blotchy or uneven finishing. Darker stains or glazes will require
extra sanding steps by the customer. Finishing should be applied in a temperature- and humiditycontrolled
environment.
Proper care should be taken to bring the installation site to the condition and temperature of final
occupancy, before doors are delivered and installed. Doors should not be delivered to an installation
site that is under construction or subject to abnormal or extreme temperatures or humidity.

A member of the maple family, the sap of the rubberwood
tree is collected and processed to make rubber. After the trees
reach 25 - 30 years of age, sap production declines dramatically.
Previously the trees were burned at that point, but today at the
end of its useful life, rubberwood is harvested and is a popular
hardwood for furniture, decorative wood, and other products. What
previously was thrown away as an agricultural byproduct is now
made into beautiful wood products.
Rubberwood is not rubbery, soft, or flexible. It is a hardwood with
the same density as ash or maple, sturdy and solid, with a dense
grain character.
Due to its natural light undertone, rubberwood stains very well and holds true to the stain color used
on it. In this respect rubberwood is similar to maple, and the undertones of the wood are subtle.
Rubberwood also paints well because of its smooth texture.
