Living on credit
Imagine you had a "vital resources" loan
and that you frittered away this eco loan, not caring
about your losses. Our credit on the global account
is gradually but definitely coming to an
end and, instead of tightening our belts
a little more, we just go on as if there
were nothing to worry about. But if we
go on living in the way we have done,
by 2030 we will need two planets similar
to our own just to feed the population
and cover our need for renewable
raw materials. Sylvia Earle, the "grande dame" of
marine research, once pointed out that our planet
is "a small blue patch in a universe of unwelcome
options". Nonetheless, for over 30 years we
have, every year, been piling up new debts on our
eco account and that has huge consequences for
coming generations. Each year, every German consumes
twice as many resources than are actually
available to him or her. Good examples of this are
wasteful water consumption and food production
that takes little account of sustainability. Overfished
seas, deforested woods and high levels of
greenhouse gas emissions all make for climate
change and the extinction of species. It is already
the case that in the oceans 90% of the larger fish
have vanished and that half of the coral reefs have
been lost or badly damaged. But it is in the world’s
oceans that life originates and if we destroy that
origin of life, we will at some point destroy humanity.
But it is not too late! We simply have to become
aware of the finite nature of our resources and stop
firing up climate change. We can no longer just do
nothing when faced with our blue planet’s gradual
destruction, for it is the only planet we have.

eigentlich zur Verfügung stehen. Hierfür sind u.a. der
verschwenderische Wasserverbrauch und die wenig
nachhaltige Lebensmittelproduktion verantwortlich.
Überfischte Meere, gerodete Wälder und ein hoher CO 2 -
Ausstoß sorgen für den Klimawandel und den Rückgang
der Artenvielfalt. Schon jetzt sind z.B. in den Ozeanen
90% der großen Fische verschwunden und die Hälfte
der Korallenriffe ist verloren oder stark beschädigt.
Dabei liegt in den Weltmeeren der Ursprung unseres
Lebens und wenn wir diesen Ursprung zerstören, zerstören
wir auch irgendwann die Menschheit. Doch es ist
noch nicht zu spät! Wir müssen uns lediglich der Endlichkeit
unserer Ressourcen bewusst werden und damit
aufhören, den Klimawandel mit Volldampf zu befeuern.
Schauen Sie nicht länger tatenlos dem Verfall unseres
blauen Planeten zu, wir haben nur diesen einen.

de producción de alimentos poco sostenibles. Mares
esquilmados, bosques deforestados y unas altas
emisiones de CO 2 provocan el cambio climático y la
pérdida de la biodiversidad. Por ejemplo, en los océanos
ya han desaparecido el 90 % de los peces grandes
y la mitad de los arrecifes de coral se ha perdido
o está gravemente dañado. Todo esto, sin pararnos a
pensar que en los océanos se encuentra el origen de
nuestra vida, y que si destruimos este origen, tarde o
temprano esto acabará por hacernos daños a nosotros.
¡Pero no es demasiado tarde! Solo tenemos que
ser conscientes de la naturaleza finita de nuestros
recursos y dejar de echar leña al fuego del cambio
climático. No sea un simple espectador de la muerte
lenta de nuestro planeta azul; solo tenemos este.

prices have reached enormous dimensions. It is very
interesting to see what the current developments are.

landed property in the world covers 11 million hectares
and is offered for USD 325 million. The land area is larger

eine Beerdigung zu koordinieren und zu organisieren.

Sterbefall auftritt, ist der damit verbundene hohe
finanzielle Aufwand.
Durch den Abschluss einer entsprechenden
Versicherung, der sogenannten Asistencia
Familiar (abschließbar bis zum 80. Lebensjahr),
sind alle notwendigen Behördengänge und
die Kosten für die Beerdigung abgesichert.

1) Das Kündbarkeitsrecht des Versicherers

gekündigt werden können, da Sie sonst keine
neue Versicherung finden, weil Sie möglicherweise
zu alt oder wegen der erlittenen Erkrankung

Intensive care and veterinary
treatment saved the lives of five little
cats.
The team from the Terravet veterinary practice is
repeatedly faced with situations where an urgent
response is required. Like what happened in this
case of five kittens. The mother and her litter were
under the care of a truly charming lady who was
doing her very best to ensure the welfare of the
creatures. All went perfectly well for the first three
weeks following the birth, when suddenly one evening
the condition of two of the little kittens took
a turn for the worse. The call that came in indicated
that all was not well. The two kittens were refusing
to drink their mother's milk, were sleeping a
lot and otherwise seemed rather quieter than their
siblings. To simplify matters and prevent the kittens

being separated from their mother, an immediate
visit to the home was decided on to find out what
precisely was up. Unfortunately, this confirmed the
team’s suspicions that the kittens would have to be
taken to a clinic straight away. The full examination
revealed a very bad cold plus serious injuries to the
mouth, tongue and throat. The necessary medication
and sufficient artificial
warmth were provided at
the clinic and the cats had
to be force fed. After just
two days, they were a lot
better and soon were again
able to lick up their moist
kitten food. As the kittens
were so very young, this
was supplemented with
artificial mother’s milk.
However, another two days
passed and the remaining
three kittens also began
to exhibit the same symptoms.
So it also became
necessary to separate them
from their mother if they were to stand a chance
of survival. Now all five kittens were at the clinic,
where happily they were able to recover following
intensive care, and be happy and playful again. It
took a total of four weeks before they were all in
perfect health once more and able to return home.
Their mother recovered from the strains of pregnancy
and from having given birth and was then
sterilised. The kittens are developing excellently
and have now been vaccinated and identified with
microchips. They will now be sterilised too.

die Vermutungen, sodass es unumgänglich war,
die Kätzchen stationär aufzunehmen. Die komplette
Untersuchung ergab eine hochgradige Erkältung mit
schweren Verletzungen im Maulbereich, an der Zunge
und im Rachen. In der Klinik bekamen sie die notwendigen
Medikamente, genügend
künstliche Wärme und wurden
zwangsgefüttert. Nach bereits
zwei Tagen ging es beiden
viel besser und sie konnten
bald wieder selbstständig an
nassem Welpenfutter lecken.
Dieses wurde, bedingt durch
das geringe Alter der Kätzchen,
noch mit künstlicher
Muttermilch erweitert. Nach
zwei weiteren Tagen fingen die
verbleibenden drei Kätzchen
jedoch ebenfalls an, die selben
Symptome zu zeigen, sodass es
unumgänglich wurde, auch sie
vom Muttertier zu trennen, da
sie sonst keine Überlebenschance gehabt hätten.
Auf Station waren nun fünf Kätzchen, die sich glücklicherweise
nach intensiver Betreuung erholen konnten
und wieder munter und voller Spielfreude waren. Nach
insgesamt vier Wochen ging es allen wieder gut und
sie konnten alle in ihr altes Zuhause zurückkehren. Die
Katzenmutter erholte sich von den Strapazen der Trächtigkeit
und Nachgeburt und wurde anschließend kastriert.
Die Kätzchen entwickeln sich prächtig und wurden
mittlerweile geimpft und jeweils mit einem Mikrochip
versehen. Sie warten nun auf ihre eigene Kastration.

At last! The Nueva Kaskada is celebrating
its fifth anniversary. For five wonderful years, top
chef Ewald Fichthaler has been treating his guests
to delicious dishes on the Costa del Sol. What fun
has been had and what marvellous culinary experiences!
The likeable chef has decided this is a
great opportunity to get together with his friends,
family and, of course, his guests, to mark this
memorable birthday in appropriate style. Ewald's
Gran Gala was celebrated on 23 September at the
Nueva Kaskada.

halbes Jahrzehnt verköstigt Ewald Fichthaler als
erfolgreicher Koch seine Gäste an der Costa del
Sol. Was wurde in dieser Zeit nicht alles gefeiert
und geschlemmt. All das nahm der sympathische
Koch zum Anlass, gemeinsam mit seinen Freunden,
seiner Familie und natürlich seinen Gästen
dieses wundervolle Jubiläum angemessen zu zelebrieren.
Gefeiert wurde Ewalds Gran Gala am 23.
September im Nueva Kaskada.

SUMMER GALA OF CONCORDIA
Die Sommer-Gala von Concordia
As every year, the presence of
members of the nobility and the jet set
guaranteed glamour and elegance at
the Summer Gala.
This year, hostess Countess Marie Louise and
her husband Count Rudolf of Schönburg-Glachau
received their glittering guests at the Restaurant
Babilonia. The décor, attractively themed around
Asia, was the perfect setting for an exquisite dinner
accompanied by the talented Samuel Gomez
on piano. The evening's other attractions included
a Thai dance group from London, singer Alejandro
Canales and a draw with 22 exclusive prizes. The
real reason for the annual charity event is to finance
the Concordia Marbella AIDS Foundation, which has
set itself the task of teaching young people on the
Costa Brava about this sensitive issue and providing
fast AIDS tests. On 5 December, the foundation will
be hosting its next event, the St. Nicholas Dinner.

la bienvenida este año a un público de alto standing
en el Restaurante Babilonia. En el ambiente
del restaurante, decorado con motivos asiáticos, se
podía disfrutar durante la exquisita cena del talento
del pianista Samuel Gómez. Otros momentos centrales
de la noche fueron un grupo de danza tailandesa
de Londres, el cantante Alejandro Canales y el
sorteo con 22 premios exclusivos. El motivo princial
de este acto benéfico anual es la financiación de la
fundación de ayuda contra el sida Concordia Marbella,
que se ha fijado como objetivo educar a los
jóvenes de la Costa del Sol sobre este sensible
tema y proporcionarles pruebas rápidas de VIH.

The Department of International Marketing
East El Corte Ingles Andalusia celebrated what
was already its fourth event for its partners in the
tourism sector, at the Starlite Festival in Marbella.
Around 400 prominent figures and management
staff met up in the spectacular setting of the exclusive
shoppingmall to enjoy the tribute concert "God
Save The Queen". Among the guests at the event
were the top representatives of 5 and 4-star hotels,
tour operators, agencies, leisure parks and public
institutions involved in Málaga’s Turismo Andaluz
organisation. Other tourism delegations from a
number of municipalities in the east of Andalusia
were also present.

vierte Event für seine Partner in der Tourismusbranche

The Festival Kuwait-Spain took
place at the Antonio Banderas Plaza in
Puerto Banús, demonstrating a journey
of cultures that delighted the likes of
hundreds of multi-national attendees.

The festival started and opened on 29 July with a very
special appearance from Mesheal Abdelmohsen Alsaed,
the Vice-Ambassador of the Kuwait Embassy as well as
José Bernal, the mayor of Marbella and Javier Porcuna,
the Tourism Councillor and Deputy Mayor. This festival
was totally free and open to people of all religions and
cultures and was aimed at bringing Kuwait and Marbella
closer together. Abrar Al Masoud the organiser of the
event made this clear that this was her objective from the
start and also commented: »This idea was born because
of my love for this country, in particular Marbella, where
I have many fond childhood memories that I will treasure
for many years. I hope this event sheds some light on
the relationship between Spain and Kuwait in relation to

both countries and that everyone may have the chance to
learn about the culture of Kuwait«. On all 3 days of the
festival, numerous diverse flamenco groups and Kuwaiti
dance performances took place. Amongst them, one
must highlight the various municipal dance schools that
performed: Marta Álvarez, Sandra Vázquez, Loli Ropero,
Karina Parra, Eli García y las Hermanas Maldonado. With
respect to Kuwait, a traditional Kuwait music group performed
as well as the music fusion group with Eimar and
a dance spectacle from Sonia Al Andalus. The Spanish
agencies and businesses that had their own stand at the
festival were very satisfied with not just the sales but
also the promotion they gained over the weekend.

einem besonderen Auftritt von Mesheal Abdelmohsen
Alsaed, dem Vize-Botschafter von Kuwait, sowie
José Bernal, dem Bürgermeister von Marbella, und

und stellvertretenden Bürgermeister, eröffnet.
Das kostenlose Festival war für Menschen aus allen
Religionen und Kulturkreisen offen und sollte Kuwait
und die Stadt Marbella enger zusammenbringen. Die
Organisatorin Abrar Al Masoud erläuterte, dass dies
von Beginn an ihr Ziel gewesen war und sie ergänzte:
»Die Idee zu diesem Festival entstand aufgrund meiner
Liebe für dieses Land und besonders für Marbella,
mit dem ich viele Kindheitserinnerungen verbinde. Ich
möchte ermöglichen, dass dieses Event die Beziehung
zwischen Spanien und Kuwait in puncto Wirtschaft,
Politik, Kultur, Kunst und Tourismus vertieft und damit
die Verbindung zwischen beiden Ländern stärker wird
und natürlich, dass die Besucher die facettenreiche
Kultur Kuwaits einen Abend lang genießen können.«
An allen drei Tagen des Festivals fanden Auftritte
verschiedener Flamenco-Gruppen sowie kuwaitischer
Tanzgruppen statt. Ein Highlight darunter waren die
Aufführungen der verschiedenen städtischen Tanzschulen:

This is not the first time that a world renowned artist has
come to this municipality to exhibit their creations and
as Lirone previously stated, "Marbella is known for its
contemporary art and for decades it has had a diverse
demanding group of customers". In regard to his artwork,
his plastic photographs are essentially made from upscale
acrylic glass, aluminium, wood and steel. "I love the mixing
and contrast of these materials, while seeking a balance
and harmony between them through the best possible
finishing product", stated the artist. Furthermore each one
of his creation has its own meaning and he describes that,
"I try to bring out in the viewers a feeling of fullness that
invites evasion and rest. My work is dedicated to the lovers
of art and design who appreciate my artwork as if they
could marvel at a beautiful piece of jewellery or a fine luxury
watch". A feeling that he himself experiences when he
finishes every single piece of hand crafted art. The "Plastic
Surgeon" of photography said he is currently working on
the realization of artwork onto thick acrylic glass with a 3D
element in order to give life back to a photo in an innovative
way. An idea that will become part of his future projects
to ultimately boost his international coverage. "I am
totally invested in an active approach to make my artwork
more internationally recognized", concluded Lirone.

Steuern und Abgaben beim Immobilienkauf in Andalusien
und auf den Balearen
A la hora de vender o comprar un inmueble es
España, surge obligadamente para las partes intervinientes
la pregunta sobre que impuestos y gastos se
originan con este negocio jurídico.
En el supuesto de viviendas usadas, el comprador
tributa por el Impuesto sobre Transmisiones Patrimoniales,
cuyo tipo impositivo según reciente modificación
en Andalucía asciende para un precio de compraventa
de hasta 400.000 Euro a un 8%, de 400.000,01
Euro a 700.000 Euro a un 9% y para el resto hasta la
totalidad del precio a un 10%. En caso de plazas de
garaje el impuesto asciende hasta 30.000 Euro a un
8%, de 30.000,01 Euro a 50.000 Euro a un 9% y para
el resto hasta la totalidad del precio a un 10%.
En las Baleares el tipo impositivo para casas
y viviendas es el mismo, aunque para las plazas de
garaje hasta 30.000 Euro asciende a un 8% y para el
resto hasta la totalidad del precio a un 9%.
Los detalles del Impuesto sobre Transmisiones Patrimoniales
son competencia de las Comunidades Autónomas.
Para el caso que compre un vivienda de nueva
construcción, tributa en vez de por el Impuesto sobre
Transmisiones Patrimoniales, por el Impuesto sobre el
Valor Añadido, cuyo tipo impositivo asciende desde a
un 10% para viviendas y sus garajes y trasteros anejos.
Para otro tipo de inmuebles, como puede ser el caso
de locales de negocio o aquellos garajes y trasteros
que no se adquieran de forma simultanea con la vivienda,
y también para terrenos, el Impuesto sobre el

Betrag 9% vom Preis.
Die Einzelheiten und die Höhe dieser Steuer
werden von den Länderregierungen (Comunidad
Autonoma) geregelt. Kauft man eine neu erbaute
Immobilie, zahlt man anstatt der Grunderwerbssteuer
Mehrwertsteuer, die bei Wohnungen und
dazugehörigen Abstellräumen oder Garagenplätzen
10% beträgt. Bei anderen Immobilien
wie Geschäftslokalen oder Garagenplätzen, die

Valor Añadido asciende ahora a un 21% del precio de
compraventa. En este caso, el Impuesto sobre el Valor
Añadido se abona al vendedor, que estará obligado a
ingresarlo. En el momento del otorgamiento de la Escritura
Pública de aquellas compraventas que tributan por
el Impuesto sobre el Valor Añadido se devenga también
el Impuesto sobre Actos Jurídicos Documentados
por importe del 1,5% del precio de compraventa en
Andalucía y 1,2% en las Islas Baleares. El plazo para la
liquidación de estos impuestos es el de un mes desde
el otorgamiento del la Escritura Pública de Compraventa.
Tan solo aquellas Escrituras que puedan acreditar
la liquidación del correspondiente impuesto tendrán
acceso a la inscripción en el Registro de la Propiedad.
Los aranceles notariales suelen ser asumidos en
la práctica por el comprador, a pesar de que, según
el artículo 1.455 del Código Civil, los gastos de otorgamiento
de escritura deberán ser asumidos por partes
iguales. Es aconsejable acordar este extremo de

insgesamt vom Käufer übernommen, auch wenn
nach Art. 1.455 Código Civil die Kosten geteilt
werden müssen. Dies muss aber ausdrücklich

El vendedor tributa por la ganancia obtenida por
la venta por el Impuesto que grava el Incremento de
Patrimonio al 24,75%. Además si se trata de un no
residente, se retiene un 3% del precio de compraventa
en concepto de pago a cuenta de la liquidación del
impuesto. El vendedor no residente vendrá entonces
obligado a presentar en el plazo de 3 meses desde
el otorgamiento de la Escritura Pública de Compraventa
la correspondiente Declaración mediante la
cual, o bien podrá solicitar una devolución (en el caso
que el pago a cuenta haya sido superior al importe a
ingresar), o bien vendría obligado a ingresar la diferencia
entre el pago a cuenta y el importe real de la
cuota tributaria resultante.
A ello se añade para el vendedor en los supuestos
de ventas de terrenos de naturaleza urbana,
aquél impuesto conocido como "Plusvalía municipal"
(Incremento sobre el Valor de los Terrenos de Naturaleza
Urbana). A través de este impuesto se grava el
incremento del valor experimentado por los terrenos
de naturaleza urbana desde su adquisición hasta su
transmisión. Este impuesto encontrará su aplicación
siempre y cuando haya transcurrido más de un año
desde la adquisición anterior. El importe del impuesto
es de regulación local, y puede variar de un municipio
a otro, por lo que es aconsejable informarse en el
Ayuntamiento correspondiente.

er entweder eine Rückerstattung (im Falle, dass
die Akontozahlung höher war als die eigentliche
Kapitalgewinnsteuer) beantragen kann, oder er
ist verpflichtet, den Differenzbetrag zwischen
Akontozahlung und tatsächlichem Betrag der
Steuer abzuführen.
Dazu kommt für den Verkäufer bei Stadtgrundstücken
noch die im Volksmund Plusvalía municipal
genannte Steuer (Impuesto sobre el incremento de
valor de los terrenos de naturaleza urbana). Dabei
wird der Wertzuwachs des Katasterwertes zwischen
Erwerb und Verkauf der Immobilie besteuert.
Diese Steuer wird dann fällig, wenn der Verkäufer
die Immobilie seit mindestens einem Jahr
in seinem Eigentum hatte. Die Höhe der Steuer ist
von Gemeinde zu Gemeinde unterschiedlich und
daher bei der jeweiligen Gemeinde zu erfragen.

In the Andalusian mountains lies a town which exudes
a quite particular charm: Ronda, "piled high on
two cliffs", as the German poet Rainer Maria Rilke
once described it. The town, regarded in its history
as untakeable, located above the gorge of the Rio
Guadalevín, which is 100 metres deep and enthuses
the observer with respect when he steps across the
three bridges linking the old and new towns. Ronda
is one of the "white villages" which are very well
known and highly regarded as a trip destination.
Among these villages Ronda, with 30,000 inhabitants,
stands out. One reason is the breathtaking
view from the 700 metre high town and its vantage
points, from which the visitor can enjoy a full panorama
across the whole region. Countless tourists
are attracted by the charm of this little Andalusian
town, for here there is still much more to see and
experience. Picturesque narrow streets in the old

Ausblick von der über 700 Meter hoch
gelegenen Stadt und seinen Aussichtspunkten,
von denen sich dem Betrachter ein umwerfendes
Panorama über die umliegende Region präsentiert.

consists of three arches and is impressive to look at.
If you stroll along by the old walls of the former aristocratic
houses such as the Casa del Rey Moro, it is
like a journey in time to a past of hundreds of years
ago. Once arrived at the Palacio de Mondragón, the
visitor sees an imposing church, the Santa María
la Mayor, located near Ronda's Town Hall. The little
town is home to a number of fascinating architectural
styles. Thus you can spot Arab influences, and
the way the town was rebuilt by the Catholics after
the Reconquista. The Santa María la Mayor unites
a striking mix of both styles. The former mosque
had a belfry placed on top of it during its rebuilding.
After your tour through the old town, you will arrive
via the Puente Viejo in the new town, also called El

Reconquista. Einen bezeichnenden Mix beider Stile
vereint die Santa María la Mayor in sich. Der einstigen

der Altstadtseite die Steuern zu hoch waren und sie
ihre Märkte deswegen außerhalb, vor den Mauern
der damaligen Stadt und heutigen Altstadt, abgehalten
haben. Neben Baustilen und Ausblicken hat
Ronda noch weitere Sehenswürdigkeiten im Repertoire.
So zum Beispiel die Stierkampfarena mit ihren
prunkvollen Säulen, die zu den ältesten Spaniens
zählt. Zudem dient sie auch immer wieder als Kulisse
für verschiedene Filmdreharbeiten. Selbst die
»Queen of Pop«, Madonna, drehte hier ein Musikvideo.

Unfortunately,
many amateur
golfers think
too little about
how important
the shafts of
their golf clubs
are. Generally,
graphite shafts should be used for woods and hybrids.
With irons, steel shafts remain the best
choice (see photo). If you have a distance problem
due to your age or a physical limitation, you can
also switch to graphite. The shaft has to match your
swing. It is the heart of the golf club and should be
adjusted to you and your club by your pro.
Über die Bedeutung der Golfschläger-Schäfte wird leider
bei vielen Amateurgolfern zu wenig nachgedacht.
Im Wesentlichen sollten bei Hölzern und Hybriden Grafitschäfte
verwendet werden. Bei den Eisen sind nach
wie vor Stahlschäfte am besten geeignet (s. Foto).
Sollten Sie aber aufgrund von Alter oder körperlicher
Einschränkung ein Weitenproblem haben, können Sie
auch zu Grafiten übergehen. Der Schaft muss zu Ihrem
Schwung passen. Er ist das Herz der Golfschläger und
sollte von Ihrem Pro angepasst werden.

After two extremely successful
annual tournaments, Marbella Bridge
Association will hold its 3rd event at
H10 Andalucia Plaza Hotel on 11 and
12 November 2016 with a warm up session

Normally after work, our team enjoys going to quiet

(Cádiz) is a good place to take a walk. Moreover, we
