We ourselves shape our
future life
The concept of the future is many-faceted,
and yet it seems that everyone has a similar view of
it. When we talk of our visions of the future, it always
involves a degree of ambiguity which is associated
both with technological advances and change and
with our inner view of the world, which is influenced
by our experiences. Matthias Horx, the
well-known trend analyst and futurologist
(www.horx.com), describes two
ways in which we construct our own
mental image of the future. Firstly there
is »Future 1«, which imagines a linear
progression from the present. This includes
technological advances such as
solar energy, electric cars and even new developments
in the media through the internet. All of this
can simplify our lives, and the fact that new ways
of saving our environment are being sought is just
one further benefit. Secondly, Horx talks of »Future
2«, which emerges from a different mental process,
and which we ourselves initiate. »We experience
something which changes and transforms us. Our synapses
reconfigure themselves. We generate the future
– the new – in ourselves, by changing our perspective
of the world,« explains the futurologist, »and this
approach is essential for our future life. The idea must
first develop, and then it must be lived, in order that
we can drive progress together«. Horx also states that
we carry certain constants and values within ourselves
which assist in this shaping, because without the
present no future can exist. It »will be colourful, angular,
square, upright. It will be dangerous, dramatic [...]
and sensational. Sort of positive and comfortable, as
well. And sort of totally normal once you get there,«
according to Horx. On that note, we should let all this
sink in and see what contribution we can make.

hervorgeht, der von uns selbst in Gang gesetzt wird. »Wir
machen eine Erfahrung, die uns selbst verändert und verwandelt.
Unsere Synapsen ordnen sich neu. Wir produzieren
die Zukunft – das Neue – in uns selbst, indem wir
unsere Sichtweisen auf die Welt verändern«, erklärt der
Zukunftsforscher und dieser Ansatz ist entscheidend für
unser zukünftiges Leben. Es muss erst die Idee entstehen
und dann gelebt werden, um den Fortschritt gemeinsam
voranzutreiben. Horx verweist auch darauf, dass wir
gewisse Konstanten und Werte in uns tragen, die uns bei
der Gestaltung helfen werden, denn ohne die Gegenwart
kann keine Zukunft existieren. Sie »wird bunt, eckig, quadratisch,
hochkant. Sie wird gefährlich, dramatisch [...]
und sensationell. Auch irgendwie günstig und komfortabel.
Und irgendwie doch ganz normal, wenn man erstmal
dort ist«, so Horx. In diesem Sinne sollten wir sie auf uns
wirken lassen und sehen, wie wir uns einbringen können.

cambiamos nuestras formas de ver el mundo", afirma
el futurólogo „y este enfoque es fundamental para
nuestra vida futura. Primero debe surgir la idea y luego
debe vivirse para impulsar el progreso juntos”. Horx
también señala que tenemos ciertas constantes y valores
en nosotros que nos ayudarán a diseñar el futuro,
y es que sin el presente no puede existir el futuro. “El

manera bastante normal, una vez allí se está allí", en
palabras de Horx. En este sentido, debemos dejar que

ALCAZABA LAGOON
Alcazaba Lagoon is an innovative urban
project in the Costa del Sol by inaugurating the first
Crystal lagoon in Europe. It has various sports entertainment

CUANDO LA PLUSVALÍA ES CONTRARIA
AL DERECHO Y A LA CONSTITUCIÓN.
Wann die Plusvalia rechts- und verfassungswidrig ist
El tema de la plusvalía está en boca de
todos en España. Numerosos medios han informado
desde el pasado mes de febrero sobre la posibilidad
de que el Impuesto sobre el incremento del valor de
los terrenos de naturaleza urbana pueda ser ilegal
en algunos casos. Entre tanto el impuesto no sólo
ha sido declarado ilegal en algunos casos, sino también
contrario a la Constitución española.
Para entender este tema hay que acotar con mucha
precisión el tema que se trata realmente. En España,
cuando se vende un inmueble, hay que hacer frente
a dos plusvalías: la primera es la conocida como
plusvalía municipal (impuesto sobre el incremento
del valor de los terrenos de naturaleza urbana), con
la que los ayuntamientos gravan el incremento del
valor del terreno sobre el que se encuentra parcialmente
el inmueble (en el caso de los apartamentos)
y totalmente (en el caso de viviendas unifamiliares).
Por otro lado, también existe una plusvalía estatal,
que se regula dentro del impuesto sobre la renta de
las personas físicas o del impuesto sobre la renta
de los no residentes, y grava el beneficio obtenido
por el vendedor en la venta del inmueble, con el
argumento que toda plusvalía o beneficio supone
una renta obtenida en España.
La plusvalía estatal para las personas no residentes
fiscalmente en España asciende actualmente a un
19,5% del beneficio y no es ni contraria a Derecho,
ni contraria a la Constitución española, y por lo
tanto no se ve afectada.
El impuesto aludido por las sentencias que lo declaran
contrario a Derecho y contrario a la Constitución
española es únicamente el conocido como Plusvalía
municipal, pero solamente en los casos en los que

in aller Munde. Zahlreiche Medien, informierten
im vergangenen Monat Februar darüber, dass die
städtische Wertzuwachssteuer möglicherweise in
einigen Fällen illegal sein könnte. In der Zwischenzeit
ist die Steuer nicht nur illegal in einigen Fällen,
sondern auch verfassungswidrig.
Um dieses Thema zu verstehen, muss man sehr genau
analysieren worum es hier tatsächlich geht. Zunächst
sei festgestellt, dass in Spanien beim Verkauf einer
Immobilie zwei verschiedene Wertzuwachssteuern
fällig werden: zum einen wäre das die eingangs
erwähnte sogenannte gemeindliche oder städtische
Wertzuwachssteuer (auf Spanisch: Impuesto sobre
el Incremento del Valor de los Terrenos de Naturaleza
Urbana, vereinfacht Plusvalía municipal genannt). Mit
der Plusvalía besteuern die Gemeinden den Wertzuwachs
des Grundstückes auf dem sich die Immobilie
anteilig (zum Beispiel bei Apartments) oder gänzlich,
im Falle eines Einfamilienhauses, befindet. Zum anderen
käme noch die staatliche Wertzuwachssteuer, die
vom Finanzamt als Einkommensteuer betrachtet wird,
zum Abzug. Mit der Begründung, dass jeder Wertzuwachs
ein Einkommen in Spanien darstellt.
Die staatliche Wertzuwachs- oder Einkommensteuer,
die in der Regel für nicht in Spanien ansässige
Personen 19,5 Prozent des Gewinns ausmacht, ist
nicht verfassungswidrig und bleibt bestehen.
Von der Rechtswidrigkeit und jetzt auch der Verfassungswidrigkeit
ist lediglich die gemeindliche oder
städtische Wertzuwachssteuer (Plusvalía municipal)
betroffen. Allerdings nur dann, wenn beim
Verkauf kein Gewinn für den Verkäufer entsteht.
Bisher verlangten die Gemeinden eine Zahlung

la venta no produzca ningún beneficio al vendedor o
se trate de una herencia. Hasta ahora los ayuntamientos
podían obligar al pago de la plusvalía municipal
en cualquier transmisión de propiedad, incluso
cuando el vendedor no obtenía beneficio con la transacción
o incluso sufría una perdida. La plusvalía se
aplicaba incluso a las herencias (además del impuesto
de sucesiones), aunque no se vendía ningún
inmueble, simplemente se heredaba. Esta situación
me ha hecho preguntarme a mí mismo en numerosas
ocasiones, que plusvalía obtenía el fallecido por
la transmisión de su inmueble a sus herederos.
Del pago de este impuesto no responde sólo el deudor,
sino también el inmueble que se vende, por lo
que el ayuntamiento se garantiza el pago del impuesto
por el propio comprador que retiene el importe
para evitar que la propiedad adquirida pueda ser
embargada por la falta de pago del vendedor.
Contrario al Derecho y a la Constitución española.
La ilegalidad de la plusvalía municipal se ha confirmado
doblemente por los tribunales de justicia.
Primero fue el Tribunal superior de Justicia de

bei einer Erbschaft (neben der gewöhnlichen Erbschaftssteuer)
fällig, obwohl die Immobilie ja nicht
verkauft, sondern lediglich vererbt wurde. Hier
stellte sich für mich schon immer die Frage welchen
Wertzuwachs ein Verstorbener durch die Übertragung
seiner Immobilie an die Erben erzielen sollte.
Für die Zahlung dieser Steuer haftet im Übrigen
nicht nur der Schuldner, sondern auch der Käufer
mit seiner soeben erworbenen Immobilie. Denn bei
einem etwaigen Zahlungsausfall seitens des Verkäufers,
erfolgt eine sofortige Pfändung inklusive
Eintrag in das Grundbuch.
Rechts- und verfassungswidrig
Die Illegalität der gemeindlichen Wertzuwachssteuer
im genannten Fall wurde zuletzt gleich doppelt
bestätigt. Zunächst entschied der Oberste Gerichtshof
von Andalusien (Tribunal Superior de Justicia de
Andalucía, TSJA) in einem Urteil, dass die Plusvalía

Andalucía con una sentencia en la que, para un
caso concreto, establecía que no debía pagarse la
plusvalía cuando el precio de venta de un inmueble
fuese inferior al de adquisición.
El 16 de febrero de 2017 el Tribunal constitucional
español sentenció que la plusvalía municipal
era contraria a la Constitución cuando no existiera
beneficio en la venta de un inmueble.
Uno de los motivos principales de ambas sentencias
versa sobre el sistema de cálculo de la plusvalía
municipal. No se tiene en cuenta la diferencia entre
el precio de mercado del inmueble en el momento
de la venta y de la adquisición, sino únicamente el
valor catastral. Este valor se ha incrementado en
numerosos ayuntamientos, contrariamente a lo que
ocurría con los precios de los inmuebles después del
estallido de la burbuja inmobiliaria: los valores catastrales
se han elevado y es fácil encontrar ayuntamientos
de la provincia de Málaga con valores muy
por encima de los que existían hace pocos años.
Para el vendedor de un inmueble la nueva situación,
producida por las sentencias, significa concretamente
que puede impugnar inmediatamente
la liquidación por la plusvalía, pero también en los
antiguos casos en los que el impuesto se aplicó de
forma ilegal por los ayuntamientos, pueden impugnarse
las liquidaciones. Los ayuntamientos pierden
una buena parte de sus lucrativas fuentes de
ingreso y además tendrán que contar con una ola de
demandas e impugnaciones solicitando la devolución
de los impuestos indebidamente cobrados.
En este contexto surgen dos preguntas principales.
La primera, de qué manera recupero el impuesto
pagado indebidamente a un ayuntamiento, cuando
el pago se llevó acabo antes del dictado de las sentencias
actuales, y segundo, qué pasa con la plusvalía
a pagar cuando ahora o en el futuro se venda
algún inmueble con pérdida o se herede.

Am 16. Februar legte das Spanische Verfassungsgericht
(Tribunal Constitucional de España) nach, und
stellte fest, dass die Plusvalía in denjenigen Fällen
in denen kein Gewinn durch den Verkauf einer
Immobilie erzielt wird, verfassungswidrig sei.
Mitentscheidend für beide Urteile ist die fragwürdige
Berechnung, die der Plusvalía zugrundeliegt. So
wird nicht die Differenz zwischen dem Marktwert
der Immobilie zum Zeitpunkt von Kauf und Verkauf
berücksichtigt, sondern der Katasterwert. Dieser
Wert aber hat in den zurückliegenden Jahren eine
genau gegenteilige Entwicklung erfahren wie die
realen Preise der Immobilien im Anschluss an die
geplatzte Immobilienblase: Die Katasterwerte sind
explodiert und liegen in einigen Gemeinden der Provinz
Málaga deutlich höher als noch vor wenigen
Jahren.
Für den Verkäufer einer Immobilie bedeutet das konkret,
dass er ab sofort nicht nur die neuen Wertzuwachssteuerfälle
im Sinne der Urteile des TSJA und
des Verfassungsgerichtes anfechten kann, sondern
auch ältere Fälle, in denen die Steuer nach aktuellem
Stand der Rechtsprechung von den Gemeinden
zu Unrecht erhoben wurde. Für die Gemeinden versiegt
damit nicht nur eine wichtige wie lukrative
Einnahmequelle; sie müssen zudem damit rechnen,
dass eine Welle von Klagen auf Rückzahlung unberechtigt
erhobener Steuern auf sie zukommt.
In diesem Zusammenhang stehen zwei Fragen im
Vordergrund. Erstens, wie bekomme ich zu Unrecht
gezahlte Steuern von der Gemeinde wieder zurück,
wenn die Zahlung vor der aktuellen Rechtsprechung
erfolgte. Zweitens, was passiert mit der Plusvalía
wenn ich jetzt oder in Zukunft eine Immobilie mit
Verlust verkaufe oder erbe.
Für diejenigen Verkäufer, die in der Vergangenheit

Pueden impugnar ante el ayuntamiento correspondiente,
pero dentro del plazo de cuatro años de
prescripción. Los ayuntamientos están alegando
este plazo de prescripción, aunque en el caso concreto
de la inconstitucionalidad, numerosos expertos
creen que este plazo no sería aplicable. Ellos opinan
que un negocio jurídico declarado inconstitucional
y, por tanto, nulo, no puede estar sometido a plazos
de prescripción, No obstante, recomiendo por el
momento impugnar dentro del plazo de cuatro años.
Los propietarios que vendan ahora o en el futuro
con pérdida y los herederos, en este momento
tienen que pagar incomprensiblemente el impuesto.
Pese a ser contrario a Derecho y a la Constitución
española, los ayuntamientos siguen liquidando el
impuesto con el argumento de que lo determinado
en las sentencias, aún no ha sido trasladado a la
legislación vigente. Por ese motivo los herederos y
los propietarios que vendan sin beneficio tienen que
pagar todavía hoy el impuesto contrario a Derecho
y a la Constitución española y después impugnarlo.
No sé si ustedes pueden imaginarse la cara con la
que me miran mis clientes, cuando les explico que
un impuesto declarado ilegal e inconstitucional
debe pagarse igualmente. Si no se paga los ayuntamientos
liquidan una penalización del 25% sobre
el valor del impuesto. Además, también es importante
respetar los plazos de impugnación. Si estos
no se tienen en cuenta, los ayuntamientos pueden
negarse a devolver el impuesto cobrado ilícitamente.
Todo parece un absurdo, pero lamentablemente
es la triste realidad en este país.

betreffenden Gemeinde erheben. Allerdings ist die
Verjährung hierzulande in steuerlichen Fällen sehr
kurz und beträgt lediglich 4 Jahre. Die Gemeinden
berufen sich derzeit auf diese Frist, obwohl diese
im konkreten Fall der Verfassungswidrigkeit von
vielen Rechtsexperten angezweifelt wird. Ein als
nichtig erklärter Rechtsgegenstand dürfe keinen
Fristen unterliegen, sagen sie. Insofern könnte ein
Einspruch auch dann Sinn machen, wenn die Vierjahresfrist
bereits vorbei ist.
Diejenigen, die jetzt oder künftig erben oder mit
Verlust verkaufen, müssen unverständlicherweise
zunächst auch zahlen. Die Gemeinden stellen die
Steuer trotz Rechts- und Verfassungswidrigkeit
weiter in Rechnung, mit der Begründung, dass die
aktuelle Rechtsprechung auf Gemeindeebene noch
nicht angepasst wurde. Deshalb müssen der Erbe
und der Verkäufer einer vererbten oder mit Verlust
verkauften Immobilie, die rechtswidrige Steuer nach
wie vor zahlen und erst später die Steuer anfechten.
Vielleicht können Sie sich in etwa vorstellen, wie
meine Mandanten mich anschauen, wenn ich ihnen
erkläre, dass eine verfassungswidrige und damit nichtige
Steuer trotzdem zunächst gezahlt werden muss.
Wird nicht gezahlt, erheben die Gemeinden sogar eine
Strafe in Höhe von 25 Prozent des Steuerbetrages.
Darüber hinaus ist der anschließende Einspruch oft an
bestimmte Fristen gebunden. Werden diese nicht eingehalten,
wollen sich manche Gemeinden danach weigern,
die zu Unrecht erhobene Steuer zurückzuzahlen.
Klingt insgesamt wie ein absurder Schildbürgerstreich,
ist aber leider traurige Realität in diesem Lande.

IRREVERSIBLE ELECTROPORATION (IRE):
A NEW, MINIMALLY INVASIVE TREATMENT
FOR PROSTATE CANCER
Irreversible Elektroporation (IRE):
Eine neue minimal-invasive Therapie des Prostatakrebs
Prostate cancer is the most common form
of cancer in men. In Spain, around 28,000 new
cases are diagnosed every year, and the incidence
of new cases each year is rising.
Major advances in diagnosis have been made over
the last few years. Widespread PSA screening, the
use of magnetic resonance imaging and new biopsy
techniques (fusion guided biopsy) have led to the
majority of prostate carcinomas now being diagnosed
at an early stage.
The significance of focal therapy
In cases of low risk localised prostate carcinoma,
most urological specialists currently recommend
the following treatment options: radical surgery
(known as radical prostatectomy) external radiotherapy
(external beam radiation), brachytherapy
(seed implantation or after-loading therapy), or
active monitoring (active surveillance). In between
30 and 70% of cases, the first three of these forms
of treatment are accompanied by serious sideeffects
such as impotence and/or incontinence.
In addition, the PIVOT study showed that survival
rates in the 10 years following diagnosis were no
better for patients who had undergone radical surgery
than for those under active surveillance. On
the other hand, there is a risk in cases of active
surveillance of the tumour progressing to a worse
stage (this affects 25 to 30% of cases). Active surveillance
is also often discontinued by patients due
to the psychological extreme stress that it causes.
Prostatakrebs ist die am häufigsten auftretende
Krebsart bei Männern. In Spanien werden jedes Jahr
etwa 28.000 neue Fälle diagnostiziert. Die Tendenz der
jährlichen Neuerkrankungen ist in ganz Europa steigend.
In den letzten Jahren wurden erhebliche Fortschritte
in der Diagnose gemacht. Durch das weitverbreitete
PSA- Screening, den Einsatz der multiparametrischen
Magnetresonanztomographie sowie durch neuartige
Biopsietechniken (Fusionsbiopsien) wird das Prostatakarzinom
aktuell in der Mehrzahl der Fälle in einem
frühen Stadium diagnostiziert.
Stellenwert der Fokaltherapie
Aktuell werden beim lokal begrenzten Niedrig-Risiko-
Prostatakarzinom von den meisten urologischen Fachgesellschaften
folgende Therapieoptionen empfohlen:
Radikaloperation (sog. Radikale Prostatektomie), äußere
Bestrahlung (sog. Perkutane Radiatio), Brachytherapie
(Seeds-Implantation oder Afterloading- Verfahren) oder
eine aktive Überwachung (sog. »Active Surveillance«).
Bei den ersten drei Therapien treten in 30-70% gravierende
Nebenwirkungen wie z.B. Impotenz und/oder
Inkontinenz auf. Zudem zeigte die PIVOT Studie in den
ersten 10 Jahren nach Diagnosestellung keinen Überlebensvorteil
für Patienten nach Radikaloperation im Vergleich
zu Patienten unter aktiver Überwachung. Andererseits
besteht bei der aktiven Überwachung das Risiko
der Tumorprogression hin zu ungünstigeren Tumorstadien
(betrifft 25-30% der Fälle). Auch wird die aktive
Überwachung häufig wegen der resultierenden starken
psychologischen Belastung vom Patienten abgebrochen.

From this arises the current discussion about
over-treatment due to radical surgery or radiotherapy
on the one side and under-treatment resulting
from active surveillance on the other. Which
is why focal therapy is appropriate for closing
the gap between potential under-treatment and
potential over-treatment of localised prostate
carcinoma.
The aim of focal therapy
The aim of focal therapy is the targeted removal of
a tumour mass inside the prostate, while ensuring
that the prostate, along with its functions, remains
intact, and side-effects are significantly reduced.
Focal therapy techniques
With cryotherapy (freezing of the tissues) and
HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound), thermal
energy is used to destroy cancer cells directly.
Irreversible electroporation (IRE, also known as
the NanoKnife) uses electric pulses in the microsecond
to millisecond range in order to open pores
in the wall of the tumour cell, following which the
tumour cells die over a period lasting from days
to weeks. The electrical impulses are carried to
the tumour through probes (needles). Since IRE is
not a thermal ablation procedure, there is minimal
risk of damage to surrounding structures (urethra,
nerves, blood vessels etc.). The effectiveness
and safety of this technique have been proven in
numerous studies.
The procedure takes about 45 to 90 minutes and
is carried out under general anaesthetic. It is only
necessary to stay in hospital for two to three days.
IRE has been carried out by Dr Erik Schulten in collaboration
with Prof Dr Ulf Tunn in the Ochoa Hospital,
Marbella and the CERAM Hospital, Marbella
since the beginning of 2017.

Hieraus ergibt sich die bestehende Diskussion der
Übertherapie durch eine Radikaloperation oder
Bestrahlung auf der einen bzw. einer Untertherapie
durch eine aktive Überwachung auf der anderen
Seite. Die Fokaltherapie ist dazu geeignet, die Lücke
zwischen einer evtl. Über- bzw. Untertherapie des
lokal begrenzten Prostatakarzinom zu schliessen.
Ziel der Fokaltherapie
Das Ziel der Fokaltherapie ist die gezielte Entfernung
eines Tumorherdes innerhalb der Prostata,
wobei der Organerhalt und damit der Erhalt der Prostatafunktionen
und die erhebliche Verringerung der
Nebenwirkungen im Vordergrund stehen.
Techniken der Fokaltherapie
Bei der Kryotherapie (»Vereisen des Herdes«) und
dem HIFU (Hoch Focussierter Ultraschall) werden
thermische Energie verwendet, welche die Krebszellen
unmittelbar zerstört.
Die Irreversible Elektroporation (IRE, sog. NanoKnife)
verwendet elektrische Pulse im Mikro bis Millisekundenbereich,
um Poren in der Zellwand der Tumorzellen
zu schaffen, durch die es nach Tagen bis Wochen zum
Tod der Tumorzellen kommt. Die elektrischen Impulse
werden durch Sonden (»Nadeln«) an den Tumor
gebracht. Da die IRE ein nicht thermisches Ablationsverfahren
ist, besteht kaum eine Gefahr der Schädigung
umliegender Strukturen (Harnröhre, Nerven,
Blutgefässe etc.). Die Wirksamkeit und Sicherheit der
Technik wurde in zahlreichen Studien nachgewiesen.
Der Eingriff dauert etwa 45-90 Minuten und wird in
Vollnarkose durchgeführt. Die stationäre Verweildauer
liegt bei nur 2-3 Tagen.
Die IRE wird seit Anfang des Jahres 2017 von Dr.
med. Erik Schulten in Kooperation mit Prof. Dr. Ulf
Tunn im Krankenhaus Ochoa Marbella und Krankenhaus
CERAM Marbella durchgeführt.

LEISHMANIASIS,
A DISEASE WHICH IS UNFORTUNATELY
BECOMING ALL TOO COMMON
Die Leishmaniose,
eine leider zu häufig auftretende Krankheit
Leishmaniasis is a disease which occurs
across the entire Mediterranean region. It is
caused by a parasite which is transmitted by a
certain type of mosquito, known as a »sand fly«.
If this parasite is passed into the blood of a dog,
it transmutes into a different stage of development
and can attack different organ systems.
The symptoms of this disease can vary greatly. It
can take the cutaneous form, which causes symptoms
on the skin or mucous membranes, or what
is known as the visceral form, which can attack
different organs. The symptoms that appear
depend on the organ affected; the liver and kidney
are most commonly affected.
Unfortunately, if the disease is suspected, it
is in many cases difficult to reach a diagnosis
using the means available nowadays. For this
reason, the disease cannot always be immediately
precluded if there is a negative result. It is,
therefore, in many cases not possible to avoid
carrying out a number of tests in order to reach
an accurate result. The most common method of
testing is to carry out a blood analysis, although
this too can produce a »false negative«. Hence it
is sometimes necessary to extract samples from
other areas such as the spinal cord, or tissue
samples from specific organs, and analyse these
using special tests. Treatment of leishmaniasis,
too, often proves very difficult. The disease cannot
be cured, although it can be controlled, but
Die Leishmaniose ist eine Krankheit, die im
gesamten mediterranen Raum vorkommt. Verursacht
wird diese durch einen Parasiten, der von einer gewissen
Mückenart, die sog. Phlebotomen, übertragen wird.
Gelangt dieser Parasit ins Blut des Hundes, verwandelt
sich dieser Parasit in ein anderes Entwicklungsstadium
und kann verschiedene Organsysteme angreifen.
Die Symptome dieser Erkrankung können sehr verschieden
sein. Man unterscheidet zwischen einer
kutanen, die Hautsymptome und der Schleimhäute
hervorrufen, und einer sog. viszeralen Art, die verschiedene
Organe angreifen kann. Je nach betroffenem
Organ werden jeweils entsprechende Symptome
vorkommen, in den häufigsten Fällen sind die
Leber und die Nieren betroffen.
Leider ist es in vielen Fällen sehr schwierig, bei Verdacht
auf die Erkrankung mittels der heute verfügten Mittel zu
einer Diagnose zu kommen. Deswegen kann nicht gleich
immer bei einem negativen Ergebnis die Krankheit ausgeschlossen
werden. Deswegen lässt es sich in vielen
Fällen nicht vermeiden, verschiedene Untersuchungen
durchzuführen, um auf ein genaues Ergebnis zu kommen.
Die häufigste Untersuchung ist die Durchführung
von Blutanalysen, aber auch hier kann es zu »falschen
negativen« Fällen kommen. Deshalb müssen manchmal
Proben aus anderen Regionen wie Rückenmark oder
Gewebeproben von spezifischen Organen entnommen
und mittels Spezialuntersuchungen analysiert werden.
Die Behandlung der Leishmaniose erweist sich
ebenfalls häufig als sehr schwierig. Es handelt sich

options, which will have to be individually
adapted to each animal according to the way the
disease progresses. As with many other diseases,
prevention is the best medicine. Contact
between dogs and mosquitos must be prevented.
There are various products available which act as
»repellents« (collars and droppers). The product
aims to stop the dog
getting bitten by the
mosquito. Walks at
times when mosquitos
are at their most active
(dusk) and bodies
of still water (pools,
ponds) should also be
avoided.
A vaccine has been
available for several
years, and a second
vaccine came onto
the market at the
beginning of this year.
Unfortunately, neither
of these offers one
hundred percent protection,
since it has not yet been possible to produce
a vaccine with a higher degree of protection
against a parasitic disease. We would, however,
very much recommend vaccination at our degree
of latitude.
Finally, it is worth adding that leishmaniasis can
also occur in humans, which is why it has been
designated a zoonotic disease by the World
Health Organisation (WHO) (zoonitic disease: a
disease which can be transmitted from animal
to human and from human to animal). In western
countries, it appears up to now to be people with
a weak immune system who are affected.

Hierfür gibt es verschiedene Behandlungsmöglichkeiten,
die je nach Verlauf der Erkrankung von Tier zu
Tier individuell angepasst werden müssen.
Wie bei vielen anderen Krankeiten ist die Prophylaxe die
beste Medizin. Der Kontakt der Hunde mit den Mücken
muss vermieden werden. Dafür gibt es verschiedene
Produkte (Halsbänder und
Pipetten), die als »Repellenzien«
funktionieren.
Das Produkt soll verhindern,
dass die Mücke den
Hund sticht. Die Spaziergänge
zu den Uhrzeiten,
an denen die Mücken am
aktivsten sind (Abenddämmerung)
und stille
Gewässer (Tümpel, Teiche),
sollten ebenfalls
vermieden werden.
Seit einigen Jahren gibt
es eine Impfung und
Anfang dieses Jahres
kam eine zweite Impfung
auf den Markt.
Leider bieten beide keinen hundert prozentigen
Schutz, da es noch nicht gelungen ist, eine Impfung
mit höherem Schutz gegen eine Parasitenkrankheit
herzustellen. Trotzdem ist eine Impfung in unseren
Breitengraden sehr zu empfehlen.
Als Letztes gilt es noch hinzuzufügen, dass die
Leishmaniose auch beim Menschen auftreten kann
und deswegen von der Weltgesundheitsorganisation
(WHO) als eine sog. Zoonose bezeichnet wird
(Zoonose: Krankheit, die von Tier zu Mensch und
Mensch und Tier übertragen werden kann). In den
westlichen Ländern scheinen bisher Menschen mit
einem schwachen Immunsystem betroffen zu sein.

offers delicious melt-in-the-mouth German specialities
such as juicy beef steaks, spätzle (a type of egg pasta),
pork chops and salads. The adjoining snack restaurant,
with its beer garden, is a further highlight: the fresh
bratwurst and curry sausage from the barbecue are not
just delicious but taste all the better in the Mediterranean-style
courtyard with a German touch. It is definitely
worth paying a visit.

In the Andalusian mountains lies a town which exudes
a quite particular charm: Ronda, "piled high on
two cliffs", as the German poet Rainer Maria Rilke
once described it. The town, regarded in its history
as untakeable, located above the gorge of the Rio
Guadalevín, which is 100 metres deep and enthuses
the observer with respect when he steps across the
three bridges linking the old and new towns. Ronda
is one of the "white villages" which are very well
known and highly regarded as a trip destination.
Among these villages Ronda, with 30,000 inhabitants,
stands out. One reason is the breathtaking
view from the 700 metre high town and its vantage
points, from which the visitor can enjoy a full panorama
across the whole region. Countless tourists
are attracted by the charm of this little Andalusian
town, for here there is still much more to see and
experience. Picturesque narrow streets in the old

Ausblick von der über 700 Meter hoch

The largest of the three bridges, the Puente Nuevo,
consists of three arches and is impressive to look at.
If you stroll along by the old walls of the former aristocratic
houses such as the Casa del Rey Moro, it is
like a journey in time to a past of hundreds of years
ago. Once arrived at the Palacio de Mondragón, the
visitor sees an imposing church, the Santa María
la Mayor, located near Ronda's Town Hall. The little
town is home to a number of fascinating architectural
styles. Thus you can spot Arab influences, and
the way the town was rebuilt by the Catholics after
the Reconquista. The Santa María la Mayor unites
a striking mix of both styles. The former mosque
had a belfry placed on top of it during its rebuilding.
After your tour through the old town, you will arrive
via the Puente Viejo in the new town, also called El

der Altstadtseite die Steuern zu hoch waren und sie
ihre Märkte deswegen außerhalb, vor den Mauern
der damaligen Stadt und heutigen Altstadt, abgehalten
haben. Neben Baustilen und Ausblicken hat
Ronda noch weitere Sehenswürdigkeiten im Repertoire.
So zum Beispiel die Stierkampfarena mit ihren
prunkvollen Säulen, die zu den ältesten Spaniens
zählt. Zudem dient sie auch immer wieder als Kulisse
für verschiedene Filmdreharbeiten. Selbst die
»Queen of Pop«, Madonna, drehte hier ein Musikvideo.

AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE
Since 2016, the new boot firmm-Vision has been in operation, which also
allows guests to observe the animals through underwater windows. Thanks
to 19 years of research, animals are encountered on 99% of the trips.
In the Strait of Gibraltar seven different species of
whales and dolphins can be observed. Because of
the high food supply caused by the special geographic
conditions on site and the resulting currents, a
high concentration of marine mammals lives here.
Common and striped dolphins, as well as Bottlenose
Dolphins and Pilot Whales belong to the resident
species, additionally Sperm Whales can be
seen primarily in spring,
Orcas in the summer time, and with a little bit
of luck Finn whales can be admired.
You can see these wonderful creatures with the
Swiss foundation firmm that offers 2-hour boat trips
from April until the beginning of November, provided
the weather is fine.
Particularly important is the experience of seeing
the animals in the wild, as well as the information
about them. Therefore, before every trip, a 30
minutes long lecture is held in various languages.
The intention is to awaken the love for the marine
mammals and for nature and so to contribute to
their protection. In addition to the daily excursions
also one week observation courses are offered. The
foundation always approaches the animals in a respectful
way, which was recognized this year by the
acceptance of the foundation as a member of the
WCA (World Cetacean Alliance).
The WCA is committed to the protection of
marine mammals, and has created a network of
partners who carry out responsible whale watching.

Ein unvergleichliches Erlebnis

In der Straße von Gibraltar
kann man sieben verschiedene
Arten von Walen und Delfinen
beobachten. Durch das hohe
Nahrungsangebot, das durch
die speziellen geographischen
Voraussetzungen vor Ort und
den daraus resultierenden Strömungsverhältnissen
zu Stande kommt, gibt es eine hohe Konzentration
an Meeressäugern. Gewöhnliche und gestreifte Delfine,
sowie große Tümmler und Grindwale zählen
zu den residenten Arten, dazu kommen vor allem im
Frühling Pottwale, im Sommer Orcas und mit viel
Glück kann man manchmal auch Finnwale bestaunen.
Zu sehen bekommt man diese wundervollen Tiere
mit der Schweizer Stiftung firmm, die von April bis
Anfang November, vorausgesetzt das Wetter lässt
es zu, zweistündige Touren von Tarifa aus anbietet.
Besonders wichtig dabei sind
das Erleben der Tiere in freier
Wildbahn und die Information
über sie. Vor jeder Ausfahrt
gibt es deshalb einen halbstündigen
Vortrag über die Meeresbewohner
in verschiedenen
Sprachen. Damit soll die Liebe zu den Meeressäugern
und zur Natur geweckt und so zu deren Schutz
beigetragen werden. Neben den täglichen Ausfahrten
werden außerdem einwöchige Beobachtungskurse
angeboten. Was die Stiftung weiter auszeichnet ist
die stets respektvolle Annäherung an die Tiere, was
dieses Jahr auch durch die Mitgliedschaft in der WCA
(World Cetacean Alliance) anerkannt wurde. Die WCA
setzt sich für den Schutz der Meeressäuger ein, und
hat ein Netzwerk von Partnern ins Leben gerufen, die
verantwortungsvolles Whale Watching durchführen.

Una experiencia inolvidable
Desde el año 2016 está en uso el nuevo barco firmm-Vision, que
hace posible que los clientes puedan observar a los animales a través de
ventanas de visión submarina. Gracias a 19 años de investigación hay
avistamientos en el 99% de las salidas. Se presta la máxima atención a un
acercamiento cuidadoso a los animales para no molestarlos, porque estos
seres maravillosos y su hábitat necesitan ser protegidos urgentemente.
En el Estrecho de Gibraltar se puede observar a siete
especies distintas de cetáceos. Gracias a la gran oferta
alimenticia que proviene de las condiciones geográficas
especiales y las corrientes que resultan de ellas,
hay una alta concentración de mamíferos marinos.
Delfines comunes, listados y mulares, asi como calderones
comunes, cuentan como las especies residentes;
sobre todo en primavera se les suman cachalotes, en
verano también las orcas y con mucha suerte de vez
en cuando se pueden contemplar rorcuales comunes.
Se puede avistar a estos maravillosos animales con
la fundación suiza firmm, que ofrece excursiones de
dos horas desde abril hasta principios de noviembre,
siempre que el tiempo lo permite. Especialmente
importante es encontrarse con los animales en la
naturaleza e informarse sobre ellos. Por eso hay antes
de cada salida una charla informativa de media hora
sobre los habitantes marinos en varios idiomas. Con
ello queremos despertar el amor por los mamíferos
marinos y la naturaleza y contribuir en consecuencia
a su protección. Aparte de las excursiones diarias se
ofrecen además cursos semanales. Otro aspecto característico
de la fundación es un acercamiento siempre
muy respetuoso a los animales, lo que le fue también
reconocido por su afiliación a la WCA (World Cetacean
Alliance). La WCA lucha por la protección de los mamíferos
marinos y ha creado una red de socios que realizan
un avistamiento responsable de ballenas.
