SHELVING TIPS & TRICKS
INSTALLING DIVIDER SHELVING OVER A WHEEL WELL
PLAN YOUR INSTALL!
When installing Westcan products into your vehicle, it’s important
that all installation procedures are followed correctly. Be mindful of
the order in which you are piecing together your items, as this can
cause problems with installation. Read all installation instructions
thoroughly before beginning the building or installation processes
to ensure the smoothest install possible.
PICK YOUR SHELVING PACKAGE
Whether you are building your own shelving package or installing
one of our complete shelving units, knowing your shelving
package configuration before putting it together is a must.
INSTALL YOUR BOTTOM SHELF
To start putting together your shelving unit, install the bottom
shelf first. Ensure that the bottom of the shelf is above wheel
well height to avoid collisions and installation issues.
INSTALL YOUR TOP SHELF
Place your top shelf at a height that is comfortable for you
to reach, whether that is near the top of your end panels or
several inches further down.
DETERMINE PLACEMENT OF SHELVING ACCESSORIES
If you are using locking door fronts, thoroughly read the
instructions that come with them before proceeding any
further with your shelf installation. The door instructions
will give you the clearance measurement between shelves
required for the door fronts to fit properly.
SPACE OUT YOUR OTHER SHELVES
If you have no locking door fronts installed, any remaining
shelves may be spaced out evenly and installed.
ADJUST SHELVES ACCORDING TO PLANNED PRODUCT HEIGHT
If you know your customer intends to carry taller or shorter
items on their shelving that might require uneven spacing,
you may adjust the shelving deck positions accordingly.
ADD ON A RETAINER LIP FOR ADDITIONAL “SHELF” SPACE
Although the wheel well may be taking up some of the space
beneath your shelving unit, by adding a retainer lip, you
create additional “shelf” space where items from boxes to
stray cords can be tucked away and kept safely out of your
walking floor space to prevent tripping and injury.
