UNLOCKING
THE POWER
OF LUXEMBOURG
«Space resources pioneer», «dynamic Fintech ecosystem», «startup
nation», «sustainable finance leader», «digital fortress» … So many
new expressions have been coined lately to describe the Grand-Duchy
of Luxembourg. Located at the very heart of Europe – which it helped
build, notably through Robert Schuman in the 1950s – the country
keeps on reinventing itself to reinforce its position on the global
map. As highlighted by Prime Minister Xavier Bettel at ICT Spring,
«Luxembourg is a country where ideas grow and where people all work
together».
At Farvest, and notably through ICT Spring and BEAST Magazine which
have both been around for some years now, we also aim at promoting our
great – yet geographically small – country, highlight the local expertise,
share best practices and enable the international development of
innovative companies. In this special edition released right before
National Day, or should I say «Lëtzebuerger Nationalfeierdag», we
start by addressing the topics of Innovation, Fintech and Startups, all
intermingling and meeting great success in Luxembourg thanks to multiple
initiatives backed by the government, private-public partnerships or
concepts emerging from creative minds.
Then, the entertainment and art sections focus on the organization
of b2b events, with new locations now available – and therefore new
opportunities – for companies to surprise their clients, employees and
partners with unprecedented and unique experiences. In the current
environment, such events remain key to attract talents but also to
cherish partnerships and business relationships. Art, just like any other
industries, is adapting to the digital world and Luxembourg might very
well be at the center of the new art scene with several artists showcasing
their amazing concepts, mixing virtual reality and artificial intelligence.
Luxembourg is also home of the Space Forum, a place – on Earth –
where local and international experts meet and exchange around the
latest trends, from the advent of 5G and the use of Space Data, to
the impacts on the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
The recent launch of the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA) shows once
more how ambitious the Grand-Duchy is when it comes to outer space
activities.

These developments are only possible thanks to new and emerging
tech – all still controlled by Humans – which are also bringing the
world more equal opportunities, notably serving the unbanked through
mobile financial services. Yet, several challenges need to be addressed,
especially the constant and growing cybersecurity threats. The good
news is that the country of Luxembourg has been working on such
topics for years, to, today, be recognized as a front runner and a force
to be reckon with in these specific fields.
Finally, please do not forget to put your copy of BEAST in your luggage
so that you can get more acquainted with Luxembourg and its vibrant
business community, while sunbathing and sipping on some Piña Coladas
