TACTICAL HX - LIMITED EDITION
Limited Edition, pourquoi ? Simplement parce que chaque canne est
numérotée et qu’elle est associée à un propriétaire unique. La série comportant 4
numéros, elle sera limitée à 9999 pièces (Soit une bonne décennie).
Chacun des propriétaires bénéficie d’une garantie unique pendant les deux
premières années pendant lesquelles les éléments sont remplacés gratuitement
quelque soit le motif de la casse. Lors des 36 mois suivants, un forfait est appliqué.
Technologie : le carbone utilisé est issu du développement aéronautique et
aérospatial. Contrairement aux nappes de carbone habituelles concentrant des
fibres parallèles enroulées autour d’un mandrin, le carbone des HX est d’une
géométrie complexe aux fibres multidirectionnelles. Cette technologie de pointe
permet d’alléger le blank, un gain de puissance au talon, mais surtout qui annihile
à 95% le phénomène ressenti du « nerf » de la canne. En action de pêche les
distances deviennent plus faciles à atteindre, la précision est optimisée quelque
soit l’action imposée au blank (coup droit, revers, roulé, shoot, mending, lancer
courbe, français etc…).
Montage : des coloris neutres ont été choisis pour la réalisation de la HX. Blank
marron mat, anodisation bronze des parties aluminium et bois précieux teinté
vert/ bronze. Le premier anneau est volontairement placé à 56cm ou plus pour
favoriser le shoot, la distance de lancer. On évite ainsi le foisonnement de la soie
au passage du premier anneau. Anneaux Fuji SIC et Pacific Bay.
Globe-moucheurs : votre passion vous entraîne souvent loin de chez vous. La
TACTICAL HX vous est livrée avec deux scions afin de ne pas réduire à néant un
rêve de pêche du fait d’une casse accidentelle. Cette canne est livrée dans un
tube alu résistant et protecteur pouvant contenir 3 cannes.
Limited Edition, why ? Simply because each rod is numbered and
associated to a unique owner. The collection has four numbers so it will be limited
to 9999 items. (That’s to say for about a decade)
Each owner has a unique guarantee during the two first years during which the
items are replaced for free no matter the reason of the damage. For the next 36
months, a charge will be applied.
Technology : the carbon used on the rods comes from aeronautics and aerospace.
Unlike the usual carbon plies that concentrate parallel fibres around a mandrel;
the carbon on HX are of a complex geometry with multidirectional fibres. This
cutting-edge technology enables to lighten the blank, to empower the rod heel
but most of all to annihilate up to 95% the phenomenon that is felt of the ‘nerve’ of
the rod. When fishing, the distances are easier to reach, the precision is optimised
no matter the action imposed on the blank (forehand, backhand, rolling, shoot,
mending, curved cast, French cast, etc…)
Rigs : neutral shades have been chosen to make the HX. Matte brown blank,
bronze anodizing of parts made of aluminium and precious wood tinted green/
bronze. The first guide is willingly placed at 56cm or more to increase the shoot
and the distance of casting. Fuji SIC and Pacific Bay guides.
Globe-fisherman : your passion often takes you far from home. The TACTICAL
HX is delivered with two tips so that you will not prevent yourself from a perfect
fishing trip because of an unfortunate damage. This rod is delivered with a strong
and secure aluminium box that can fit up to 3 rods

J’ai rarement vu Pascal Cognard revenir d’essais de prototypes
avec un aussi large sourire…La conjugaison de tant d’années
de travail et des technologies récentes nous permet aujourd’hui
d’approcher l’ultime perfection. Je pense inutile de vous abreuver en
superlatifs ; vous connaissez déjà la réputation des gammes Tactical.
Vous trouverez simplement ci-dessous quelques points importants
qui font la différence.
Blank : Il tient deux numéros de soies. La soie la plus légère avec
une belle vivacité permettant des pêches tout en technicité et
légèreté. La plus lourde actionne la progressivité, la force tranquille
et la distance .
Anneaux : Fuji SIC pour le premier suivi d’anneaux REC Recoil TM
en Titane/nickel pour gagner en légèreté et minimiser les « points
durs » sur la canne.
Porte moulinet : a vissage vers le bas pour les cannes les plus
longues (gain d’équilibre qui optimise la vitesse du poignet tout en
minimisant la fatigue). Réalisé en aluminium 5040 anodisé. Profil
Truite gravé au laser.

The reputation of the Marryat’s Tactical Pro rods speaks for itself -
They have become the rod-of-choice for many competition fishermen
on the International circuit. Tactical Pro rods have been developed to
take advantage of the latest in material knowhow, new components
and current fishing styles to deliver what fishermen really want. Here
are some of the most important points that make the difference :
Blank : these rods carry two line-weights for a reason. The lighter line
can be cast with accuracy, precision and finesse while the heavier
line can be cast using the butt section reserves to achieve greater
distance.
Rings : Fuji SIC butt ring, followed by REC Recoil TM rings titanium /
nickel to save weight and minimize «hard points» on the blank.
Reel seat : screw-down style seat on longer rods – to improve
balance at the wrist so minimizing fatigue). Made of 5040 anodized
aluminum. The spacer has been laser engraved with a trout.
Handle : as always AAAA cork grip.

L’origine de la technique trouve ses racines en République
Tchèque il y de cela quelques années. La compétition en est le
berceau : il faut pêcher vite, au fil à deux nymphes dans les courants
rapides ! Très vite, cette méthode s’impose sur certains parcours.
Reprise et développée par d’autres pays comme l’Italie mais surtout
l’Espagne cette technique se généralise aujourd’hui pour offrir à
chacun la possibilité de prendre des poissons dans des veines d’eau
où ils étaient jusqu’à lors bien difficiles à aller chercher.
European Nymphing techniques have their roots in the Czech
Republic however things have moved on in recent years. The driver
behind both tackle and rod developments has been the competition
scene, where it is important to fish fast with long leaders and two
nymphs in fast currents !
This method was adopted very quickly and finessed by other national
teams as the style-of-choice. France, Italy and especially Spain have
evolved this technique to fish seemingly impossible runs and pocket
water and produce fish !

« C’est au cours de nombreux échanges,
discussions et réflexions avec Olivier Meurant (DG
Marryat France) que sont nés ces deux projets
de cannes. L’objectif fixé étant de construire des
cannes polyvalentes adaptées à nos différentes
techniques françaises de pêche en nymphe tout
en préservant la possibilité de pêche en sèche.
Après avoir longuement étudié l’équilibre, la
répartition des anneaux, l’action proprement
dite, des séries de prototypes ont été lancées.
Depuis mai 2019, je teste ces produits dans
toutes les conditions. Je vous livre cidessous
mes conclusions :
La Tactical HX 10’3’’ # 3/4
Première impression immédiate quand j’ai testé
le prototype Tactical HX 10’3’’ # 3/4 : l’action mélange
judicieusement puissance et douceur. Que ce soit en sèche, en
nymphe au fil ou en sèche/nymphe, la Tactical HX est d’une grande
polyvalence, cette canne sera appropriée aux grandes rivières comme aux
cours d’eau plus modestes et possède une excellente tenue des poissons de
toutes tailles, même des plus gros. Elle conviendra parfaitement aux pêcheurs qui
recherchent une canne polyvalente pour la France ou des destinations plus lointaines.
«It was during many exchanges, discussions and thoughts with Olivier Meurant
(Managing director of Marryat France) that these two rod projects were born. The
objective is to build multi-purpose rods adapted to our different French fishing
techniques in nymph while preserving the possibility of dry fishing. After a long study
of the balance, the distribution of the rings, the action itself, series of prototypes were
launched. Since May 2019, I have been testing these products in all conditions. I give
you below my conclusions :
The Tactical HX 10ft 3ins # 3/4
First immediate impression when I tested the prototype Tactical HX 10ft 3ins # 3/4: the
action smartly mixes power and softness. Whether dry or nymph, the Tactical HX is
versatile, this rod will be suitable for larger rivers as well as smaller streams and has an
excellent hold of fish of all sizes, even the largest. The Tactical HX 10ft 3ins # 3/4 will be
perfect for anglers looking for a versatile rod for France or further destinations.

La Tactical Pro 10’3’’ # 2/3
Quand j’ai testé le prototype Tactical Pro 10’3’’ # 2/3, mon premier ressenti a été une impression de légèreté et j’ai de
suite apprécié son action progressive qui présageait d’excellentes sensations en nymphe au fil.
J’ai principalement testé cette canne avec une soie numéro 2 et une soie spéciale nymphe de 0.55 mm de diamètre.
La canne est directionnelle, son action progressive mais pas molle permet de lancer des nymphes légères ainsi que
des modèles beaucoup plus lourds. La tenue du poisson quelle que soit sa taille est excellente. J’ai pris un immense
plaisir à tester cette canne pendant 5 mois, c’est l’outil idéal pour la nymphe au fil comme pour la sèche/nymphe. Elle
conviendra également pour la pêche en sèche entre 5 et 15 mètres équipée d’une soie de taille 2. Dans le compte
rendu que j’ai envoyé à Marryat suite au test du prototype, j’ai décris cette Tactical Pro 10’3’’ # 2/3 comme une « canne
exceptionnelle pour la pêche en nymphe au fil » .

Tactical Pro 10ft 3ins # 2/3
When I tested the Tactical Pro 10ft 3ins prototype of # 2/3, my first feeling was a feeling of lightness and I immediately
appreciated its progressive action that foreshadowed excellent sensations in nymph in the wire.
I mainly tested this rod with a line number 2 and a special line nymph of 0.55 mm in diameter. The rod is directional,
its progressive but not soft action allows to launch light nymphs as well as much heavier types of nymphs. The hold of
the fish regardless of its size is excellent. I took great pleasure in testing this rod for 5 months, it is the ideal tool for the
nymph in the wire as for the dry/nymph. It will also be suitable for dry fishing between 5 and 15 meters, equipped with
a line # 2. In the account I sent to Marryat following the test of the prototype, I described this Tactical Pro 10ft 3ins #
2/3 as an «exceptional rod for fishing in nymph in the wire».

TACTICAL BOMBARDE
La pratique de la pêche en lac ou en réservoir nécessite
l’emploi de différents types de soies, flottante, intermédiaire ou extra
plongeante . Au fil des années, j’ai rencontré bon nombre de pêcheurs
qui avaient à faire face au même problème : celui de l’efficacité du
lancer entre la soie flottante et la soie plongeante…
Un petit rappel technique s’impose
À chaque soie correspond un poids qui détermine son numéro. Le
seul bémol est que ce poids est calculé sur 30 pieds (un peu plus
de 9 mètres). Par exemple, une soie de 7 se doit de peser 12g, une
soie de 8 se doit de peser 13,5g. Eh oui ! seul 1.5g les différencient.
Lorsque nous concevons une canne, nous utilisons en référence une
fourchette de tolérance, qui dans le cadre de l’exemple en soie de 7
oscille entre 11.5g et 12.5g.

Qu’en est- il de la pratique ?
Combien de pêcheurs s’arrêtent-ils à 9 mètres avant de shooter ? 1
sur 10 ? On entend souvent : « ma canne se couche avec une soie
plongeante ». Les nouveaux profils de soie du type Forty Plus chez
Airflo ou encore XS-tra chez Snowbee décuplent le problème…
En effet, bon nombre d’entre nous shoote après avoir sorti 12 ou 15
mètres…soit souvent plus de 15g avec une canne pour soie de 7 ce
qui correspond en fait au poids d’une 9… Utiliser une canne pour
soie de 9 ? Non, impossible vous ne pourriez pas sortir les premiers
mètres de soie…
C’est donc une innovation majeure qui est ici proposée :
La « même canne » mais en version F (de flottante à S2) ainsi qu’en
version S (de S3 à S7). L’une est habilitée à poser proprement à
grande distance et l’autre à shooter des soies lourdes avec une
plage de tolérance plus importante. Avec vos deux Marryat Tactical
« Bombarde » vous couvrez toutes les situations. Existe en 9’6 7# et
9’6 8#.

Stillwater fishing on lakes and reservoirs, especially if you’re in a
competition, requires the use of different types of line ( floating, midgetip,
intermediate and sinking). Over the years Marryat designers have
discussed these variables with many fishermen who all faced similar
problems – how to switch between floating and sinking lines with the
same rod and still be able to cast effectively …
In Theory floating lines have specified weights determining their
AFTM number and this specific weight is calculated on the front 30
feet of line. Therefore 30 feet of a 7-weight line must weigh 12 grams
and an 8-weight must weigh 13.5 grams, so there’s just 1.5 grams to
differentiate them. Now consider that 7-weight rods are designed to
work with a line weight of between 11.5 grams and 12.5 grams.
The Challenge here is «my cast collapses when using a sinking line”
and these days this also happens with floating lines like Airflo’s Forty-
Plus and Snowbee’s XS-tra floating lines, because their heads are
heavier than their AFTM specification. Another consideration is that
many fishermen shoot 35 to 45 feet of line these days ... that’s more
than 15 grams on a 7-weight line or 30 feet of a 9-weight floating line
… so should you be using a 9-weight rod? No, because if you did you
wouldn’t get the first 3 feet of line out …
Our Solution is that the designers at Marryat have created a major
innovation, two superb 9 foot 6 inch rods specifically for use on
stillwaters with floating and sinking lines. The 7-weight is available in
two versions; one designed for use with a Floating Line and, because
of the extensive use of heavy-weight floating and sinking lines the
other has been developed for Sinking Line (S3 to S7), enabling you
to cast heavy lines with confidence.

Agrémentée d’un joli coloris bleu mat, d’une gravure laser sur le
porte moulinet illustrant un Bonefish ou un Tarpon, cette série de deux
cannes vous accompagnera sur les grands flats à la recherche de
poissons d’exception.
Une bonne réserve de puissance libérée progressivement pendant le
combat aide dans le contrôle du poisson. L’action plutôt typée pointe
lors du lancer, en fait d’excellentes shooteuses qui permet en 3 faux
lancers d’atteindre une très bonne distance. Légère mais surtout très bien
équilibrée, cette série se démarque aussi par son confort d’utilisation.

Marryat’s TACTICAL Sea series rods are the result of years of
technical research combined with input from some of the world’s
most talented fisherman. First and foremost, these are fishing rods !
They are really good at casting a long line with tight loops but don’t
be fooled, there is more to fishing than distance. From the moment

Une bonne canne brochet doit être rapide pour lancer
de gros streamers. Lorsque le poisson est ferré son action
durant un combat doit aussi être progressive pour un meilleur
contrôle. Elle doit vous donner du plaisir avec un brochet de
60 cm comme avec un monstre du mètre. Son bon équilibre
vous donne du plaisir toute la journée sans fatigue.

Nous avons développé les cannes TACTICAL originales à
partir du Blank Furtive Rod. Chaque longueur et poids de cannes
TACTICAL LX a sa propre personnalité qui offre une performance
optimale. Il était donc naturel de continuer le développement de
blanks qui augmenterait la rapidité et la précision. Une finition mate
des blanks, des points d’alignements et un porte-moulinet coulissant
ont aussi été des demandes réalisées par l’introduction de la série
TACTICAL LX.
Un ajout plus récent à cette gamme de cannes est la 10’ #6. C’est
un futur classique qui est à la fois à l’aise dans les grandes rivières
d’Ecosse et de Norvège et dans les espaces ouverts, les loughs, les

We developed the original TACTICAL rods from the Furtive
Rod blanks. Each TACTICAL LX rod length / line weight has its
own personality offering optimum performance so it was natural
to continue development of blanks that would increase speed and
accuracy. Matt finish blanks, alignment dots and a slick reel seat
were also requests delivered by the introduction of the TACTICAL
LX Series.
Most recent addition to this range is the 10 foot 6-weight – a soon to
be classic that’s equally at home on the wide spate rivers of Scotland
and Norway as it is on the open waters and loughs, lochs, lakes and
reservoirs on Ireland and the Home Nations.

La série Marryat Tactical est née de la fusion de recherches techniques et de l’expérience de
Champions du Monde comme Pascal Cognard et Jérôme Brossutti.
Cette série est rentrée dans la légende, tant de pêcheurs l’utilisent avec plaisir en lançant toute la journée
en boucles serrées et sans fatigue un long bas de ligne à bonne distance. Chaque canne est élaborée
en fonction d’une pêche bien définie et l’ensemble de la série offre de large possibilités d’utilisation,
du ruisseau au grand lac. Par exemple la 10’ #5 pourra vous servir pour une pêche au streamer en
rivière en début de saison, dans l’utilisation de nymphes lourdes ou la pêche aux chiros en réservoir.
Autre exemple, la 10’ #4 est faîte pour les pêches fines et délicates en sèches ou nymphes légères qui
demandent précision et bas de lignes très fin (8/100).
Au ferrage vous réaliserez la raison pour laquelle cette série est différente. Sensibilité, douceur et
progressivité du blank, permettent de mettre de très beaux poissons à l’épuisette sans risque de casse
sur un bas de ligne fin.
Marryat TACTICAL series rods are the fusion of years of technical research, fishing know-how from

are really good at casting a long line with tight loops but don’t be fooled, there is more to fishing than

Hommage à George Selvyn Marryat
Après avoir servi comme officier dans l’armée anglaise en Inde, George Selvyn Marryat, gentleman et pêcheur à la
mouche par excellence, retourne à Salisbury, Angleterre, en 1870 pour consacrer le reste de sa vie à révolutionner la
pêche à la mouche. George Selvyn Marryat et l’un de ses contemporains changèrent l’histoire de la pêche à la mouche
dans le monde par le traitement systématique et scientifique des mouches sèches et de leurs imitations; cherchant à
représenter l’insecte dans l’eau tel qu’une truite pourrait le voir. L’invention des hameçons à oeillet, de soies tissées
et l’amélioration des cannes représentent d’autres aspects importants de sa contribution au monde de la pêche à la
mouche. Décédé le 14 février 1896 à l’âge de 60 ans, il fut considéré par ses contemporains comme le pionnier le plus
astucieux de son temps.

Marryat est synonyme de très haute qualité dans le monde. SMITH Japon, fondé en 1970, commence à produire des
moulinets pour son propre marché mais la demande étrangère est si importante qu’il décide d’exporter ses produits audelà
des océans par leur maison-mère, Coret, située à Zürich en Suisse. Aujourd’hui, cannes, moulinets et accessoires
sont reconnus et distribués dans le monde entier. En 1998 naît Marryat France S.A. qui rejoint le groupe Coret. Marryat
va rapidement accroitre la demande dans le domaine de la mouche en développant des cannes à mouche plus adaptées

Tribute to George Selvyn Marryat
After serving as an officer in the British army in India, George Selvyn Marryat, a perfect gentleman and fly fisherman,
returned to Salisbury, England, in 1870 to spend the rest of his life revolutionizing fly-fishing. George Selvyn Marryat
and one of his contemporaries changed the history of fly fishing in the world by the systematic and scientific treatment
of dry flies and their imitations; trying to represent the insect in the water the way a trout would see it. The invention of
hooks with an eyelet, woven bristles and rods improvement are other important aspects of its contribution to the world
of fly fishing. He died on February 14, 1896 at the age of 60, he was considered by his contemporaries as the most
ingenious pioneer of his time.

Marryat is synonym of a very high quality in the world. SMITH Japan, founded in 1970, starts to produce reels for its
own market but foreign demand is so important that it decides to export its products beyond the oceans through
their parent company, Coret, located in Zürich, Switzerland . Today, rods, reels and accessories are recognized and
distributed around the world. In 1998 Marryat France S.A. was born and it joined the Coret group. Marryat will quickly
