Reminders for dog owners
Our
dogs love it when they get to run around and play outside
without
a leash, however if you own a dog remember that there
are only some places where this is allowed in Manningham.
Dogs are permitted off lead in designated areas providing the
dog
is kept under control at all times. Dogs must be on lead
within 15 metres of

public barbecue facilities
•
children's play equipment
•
organised sporting events
•
approved functions or public meetings.
There can be penalties for owners who let their dog off their
leads in areas where it is not permitted. Find out where your

Dog owners must also remember that it’s your responsibility
to remove and dispose of dog droppings in public places and

Since Biden became the US president the US
and China have held their first high-level meeting
in Alaska last week. This was where China first
publically challenged the legitimacy and supremacy
of Western values and systems. China demanded US
to regard China as an opponent on equal footing and
should not impose western democracy onto China’s
internal affairs. Chinese spokesperson Yang JieChi’s
20-minute speech (including translation) signalled
Chinese leaders’ self-confidence in the midst of the
western downturn. US Secretary of State Blinken
requested the reporters to stay for his response. He
said the US has already solicited support from the
allies in counteracting China’s expansion. Seemingly it
is not optimistic for the US-Chinese relation to regain
harmony and cooperation as in pre-Trump state.
Australian PM Morrison’s attendance in the summit
with US, Japan, India has shown that Australia had
taken side in the Pan-Pacific region in terms of military,
economic and pandemic positioning. So it is predictable
that the Australian-Chinese relation would remain
tense and economic pressure would continue to come
from China on Australia.
An earlier report “Being Chinese in Australia” by
the Lowy Institute indicated the values and impression
on China of most Australian Chinese differed from
the mainstream Australians. Under the prevailing
international relations and Chinese high economic
profile in muzzling Australia, Australian Chinese have
to watch out for anti-Chinese sentiment coming in.
Australian Chinese came in different eras from
different nations hence unlikely to have a unified view
on world politics. But over the past decade or so due to
the influx of immigrants and students from China, also
with her upbeat economic activities in Australia, and
that the Chinese government has actively been involved
in Chinese community organisations aided by Chinese
social networking media, hence directly or indirectly
China influence on local Chinese communities has been
immense. At the same time the Chinese communities
have a tendency to function self-contained. Many of
them are just living with Chinese input to the extent
that they do not know, understand nor accept the values
of the mainstream society. Lowy Institute’s report
sounded an alarm signal for our society if we want to be
part of the nation in harmony.
Amid tense Australian-Chinese relation, Chinese
immigrants especially those recent ones need to rethink
how to get closer tie with and better understanding of
the mainstream society so as to gain better trust and
support.

The Jaguar F-TYPE has
been lightly updated with a
meaner design and sleeker
equipment, and remains an
accessible and easy to use daily
sports coupe.
The year 2021, calling a
two-seater sports coupe the
core of brand seems almost
outrageous. In this day and age
of SUVs and electrified models,
small, two-seater sports cars
have become increasingly
niche.
And yet, for Jaguar,
the F-TYPE is somewhat
fundamental to the brand
identity. Yes, it is not going
to be a volume seller (not
even close), but it is the one
model that still captures and
exemplifies the brand's racing
heritage. Before becoming a
luxury brand pumping out
executive saloons for the
masses, Jaguar first made
its name in the world of
motorsports. Cars like the
C-TYPE and D-TYPE racked
up victories at Le Mans, while
the E-TYPE's combination
of beauty and high performance
made it an automotive icon.
Launched in 2013, the F-TYPE
is the next evolution of the brand's
sporting DNA. It combines sleek
looks, nimble handling and ample
performance (especially with the
outrageously powerful V8 models).
Now, we have a facelifted
model that looks to carry on the
brand's sporting legacy.
We test drive the 280kW, sixcylinder
supercharged, and rearwheel-drive
P380 model.
What is changed?
Visually, the F-TYPE has been
lightly revised. With redesigned
head lights and slimmer taillights,
along with a wider front grille, the
car now has greater visual width.
The car remains a muscular yet
beautiful sports coupe, sure to
attract envious looks wherever you
go.
The updates are more notable
in the interior, with a notable
digitalisation of the cabin. You
now get a 12.3-inch Interactive
Driver Display on which you can

choose a variety of display modes. It can be
configured to show a full-screen map. The
10.0-inch Touch Pro infotainment system
offers improved usability and functionality.
This First Edition model also gets some
additional equipment, including aluminium
gearshift paddles, as well as Windsor leather
performance seats, and Ebony suede cloth
headlining.
The cabin is an undeniably classy place
to be in. Yes it is not particularly spacious,
and the high door sill makes getting in and
out a little inelegant in tight carpark spaces.
Jaguar has now removed the spare tyre from
the boot and put in a tyre repair system
instead, so, the boot is now actually narrow
and long, usable at 336-litre, and provides
surprisingly reasonable amounts of space.
How sporty is it?
The 3.0-litre engine produces 280kW of
power and 460Nm of torque, which allows
the F-TYPE to sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.9
seconds. The engine is probably the mostimpressive
part of the whole mechanical
package. It is quick and does sound very nice
(raucous) when extended. The F-Type has to
be one of the most dramatic sounding cars.
The F-TYPE's delightfully weighted
steering and stable ability make for good
fun through windy roads. The rest of the
mechanical package is impressive. The
steering feels great – there is nice weight to
it, and there is an oiliness to the steering that
feels really nice. The suspension setup strikes
a nice balance between sporty firmness and
sufficient pliancy to make long journeys
surprisingly comfortable and forgiving.
And, dive into corners and the F-TYPE's
immense grip and well-judged balance make
for a fun, dynamic experience; smooth and
crisp shifts.
Value for money
The price for the Coupe First Edition
starts at $206,965 plus on road costs such
as Luxury Car Tax. The test car has a few
options like Meridian Sound system ($7,260),
Eiger Grey Metallic paint ($2,959), Red brake
callipers ($1,010), Configurable dynamics
($3,980), Fixed roof ($2,110), Powered
tailgate ($1,160), Two-zone climate control
($1,040), Blind spot assist Pack ($900), and
Privacy glass ($650).
This First Edition Coupe model, F-TYPE
P380 is most certainly not cheap.
The F-TYPE continues to carry the torch
for special sports coupes amidst a changing
automotive landscape. The updates to the
F-TYPE have improved on its already stellar
everyday usability and quality. It is not the
most exciting car to drive, but it comes with
a certain motorsport pedigree and visual
aplomb that stands it uniquely apart from
most other cars on the road. That has its own
particular appeal, and it is hard to really put a
definitive price on that.
The F-TYPE has been, and always will
be, a niche product. And you know what, that
is how it should be. It is a special kind of car
that carries the torch for Jaguar's motorsport
heritage, and we are just glad it still has its
place in an automotive landscape that is
increasingly shunning cars of this category.
The 2021 Jaguar F-Type has been
updated with style and good looks. It delivers
remarkable performance and continues to
capture the imagination of the young ones
and the hearts of driving enthusiasts.
