The compressor contains the specified amount of compressor oil for the lubrication, cooling and sealing of the
sliding and rotating parts.
In the repair process, make sure that the specified amount of lubricating oil is provided, because:
- Too little oil causes a seizing up of the compressor.
- Too much oil leads to an insufficient cooling capacity of the air conditioner (interference of heat transfer). The
delivery pressure of the compressor increases excessively, which can lead to damages.
Maintenance and servicing work on air conditioners is required at frequent intervals for the
following reasons:
- Hoses become leaky.
- Refrigerant can diffuse (refilling required; search for leaks).
- Screw connections loosen.
- Seals age and dry out.
- The condenser and connecting lines lie in a part of the vehicle that is endangered by rock impacts and accidents
(damage to the condenser in case of front-end damage).
- Maintenance connections can easily become leaky, e.g. due to soiling when the service hoses are connected.
- Components of the air conditioner are subject to certain wear.
- Moisture can penetrate.
- Bacteria and bad odours may form in the evaporator or collector.
