As famous as its counterpart in Siziwan, the Cijin Beach invariably attracts many swimmers who fall over each other to

register when it opens. The facilities within the Bathing Area are quite diverse: there are different leisure areas, including

a scenic trail with sea views and a natural ecological area, as well as a cross-country area, so even when the bathing Area

is closed, travelers can still participate in other leisure activities. The Sea Bathing Area thoughtfully provides

comprehensive washing facilities, and there are many cute statues of sea animals on the grass, large and small, of which

the best-loved is the 2-story red crab.

At the end of 2000, President Chen Shui-bian of the Republic of China and government

officials from Kaohsiung visited Fo Guang Shan bringing with them the wish from their

constituents that Fo Guang Shan reopen its mountain gate.

After due consideration, Fo Guang Shan decided to reopen the monastery to some extent,

thereby providing the public a place to practice Pure Land Buddhism. On top of its

headquarters being the largest monastery in Taiwan, it has a network of over 300

branches throughout Taiwan. [3]

Fo Guang Shan entered mainland China in the early 21st century, focusing more on

charity and Chinese cultural revival rather than Buddhist propagation in order to avoid

conflict with

Taiwan mulling expanded visa privileges for Southeast Asia

Taipei, July 14 (CNA) Taiwan is currently mulling the feasibility of allowing

visa-free entry for visitors from the Philippines, and the possibility of

extending visa privileges for nationals of India, Indonesia, Vietnam, and

others covered in the government's New Southbound Policy, a Foreign

Ministry official said Friday on condition of anonymity.

Since implementing Taiwan's visa waiver program for Brunei and Thailand in

August last year, the results have proved very positive, and the government

wishes to expand the program to include India, Indonesia and Vietnam, as

well as other countries in Southeast Asia, according to the official.

However, there is no timeline as to when these measures might be

implemented, the official said, but noted that a study would be carried out

after August, when related government officials have returned from their

roles at the Summer Universiade, which is set to run from Aug. 19 -30.


A lot of factors need to be considered before free-visa entry and other forms

of visa privileges can be implemented, the official added.

The plan to expand Taiwan's visa-free program and other privileges follows

the recent announcement of visa-free entry for nationals of its 11 diplomatic

allies in Latin America and the Caribbean -- Paraguay, Belize, the Dominican

Republic, Guatemala, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and

Nevis, Saint Lucia, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras and Nicaragua.

Food Purchasing:

San Feng Dry Goods Market. This is one of the biggest Taiwanese dry goods markets in Kaohsiung.

It’s at the corner of Jung Hua and Jianguo Rds.

The Food Ingredient Store. Has three locations. The one most people know is called the Pineapple

Store by foreigners and is at # 151 Benguan Road, Niao Song Township, Kaohsiung City. 07 370-

The latest, newest, version is on the corner of Boi Ai and Cengzi Rd all the way up Boi Ai near the

Ecological Park. The very first and original location in Kaohsiung borders on Fengshan is at #181

Gongzheng Rd, Qianzhen District. Which is over the railway tracks on Ruilong Rd and left on

Gongzheng Rd, opp the Cooperative Bank. This branch also sells fresh meat and vegetables and has

parking for cars on the roof and scooters outside. They have a discount card that can be used at all 3

locations.

The cuckoo in the nest is called The Cookbox it is located on Ming Cheng Road near the corner of Bo

Ai Road. Although this shop sells a range of goods identical to the other 3 stores it is not owned by

the same company as the Pineapple Store aka Food Ingredient Store. So you cannot use the discount

card issued at any of the other 3 stores.You have to apply for a separate discount card for the

Ferry Tickets to Orchid Island from Houbihu Harbour, Kenting & Taitung.

The ferry now runs from April 1st to September 30th. No ferry in winter from Houbihu and only

weekly ferries in winter from Taitung to carry essential items. There are two ferries per day leaving

at 07:30 and 11:30. The trip usually takes 2.5 hours, but may take longer if the sea is rough. There

are now 3 ferry companies working this route in 2017 so getting tickets should not be a problem.

There is also another daily ferry from Taitung harbour which takes 3 hours. Phone Booking office. o8

pets must be put into crates on the deck. Owners must provide the crate. No crate, no boarding. Pets

The Food Ingredient Store. Has three locations. The one most people know is called the Pineapple

Store by foreigners and is at # 151 Benguan Road, Niao Song Township, Kaohsiung City. 07 370-

The latest, newest, version is on the corner of Boi Ai and Cengzi Rd all the way up Boi Ai near the

Ecological Park. The very first and original location in Kaohsiung borders on Fengshan is at #181

Gongzheng Rd, Qianzhen District. Which is over the railway tracks on Ruilong Rd and left on

Gongzheng Rd, opp the Cooperative Bank. This branch also sells fresh meat and vegetables and has

parking for cars on the roof and scooters outside. They have a discount card that can be used at all 3

locations.

The cuckoo in the nest is called The Cookbox it is located on Ming Cheng Road near the corner of Bo

Ai Road. Although this shop sells a range of goods identical to the other 3 stores it is not owned by

the same company as the Pineapple Store aka Food Ingredient Store. So you cannot use the discount

card issued at any of the other 3 stores.You have to apply for a separate discount card for the

Ferry Tickets to Penghu.

Ferry Tickets to Orchid Island from Houbihu Harbour, Kenting & Taitung.

The ferry now runs from April 1st to September 30th. No ferry in winter from Houbihu and only

weekly ferries in winter from Taitung to carry essential items. There are two ferries per day leaving

at 07:30 and 11:30. The trip usually takes 2.5 hours, but may take longer if the sea is rough. There

are now 3 ferry companies working this route in 2017 so getting tickets should not be a problem.

There is also another daily ferry from Taitung harbour which takes 3 hours. Phone Booking office. o8

pets must be put into crates on the deck. Owners must provide the crate. No crate, no boarding. Pets
