In the beginning it was a collection of stories. In fact the
film is a remake of the 1966 Broadway musical Cabaret
inspired by “Goodbye to Berlin”, a collection of stories
by Christopher Isherwood: this explains why the plot
centres around life before the rise of Adolf Hitler.
