Nascono da una comune visione del bagno e
dalla voglia di portare innovazione le nuove
proposte Karol tutte a firma Marc Sadler. Una
serie di progetti di forte impatto estetico ed
elevato contenuto tecnologico, che esplorano
il mondo dei materiali e che analizzano nuove
soluzioni applicative degli elementi funzionali,
quali espressioni di una forza innovativa sul piano
concettuale. Proposte trasversali che possono
vivere autonomamente o essere inserite nelle
linee esistenti della collezione Karol.
The new Karol proposals, all designed by
Marc Sadler, come from a common vision of
the bathroom and from the desire to bring
innovation. A series of projects with a strong
aesthetical impact and high technological content
exploring the world of materials and analysing
new solutions for application of the functional
elements, expressions of an innovative force on a
conceptual level. Transversal proposals that can
be independent or be inserted into the existing
lines of the Karol collection.
Tous les nouveaux modèles Karol, signés Marc
Sadler, naissent d’une vision commune de la salle
de bains et du désir d’apporter de l’innovation.
Une série de projets ayant un fort impact
esthétique et un contenu technologique élevé,
qui explorent le monde des matériaux et réalisent
de nouvelles solutions d’application des éléments
fonctionnels, en tant qu’expression d’une force
novatrice sur le plan conceptuel. Des modèles
transversaux qui peuvent vivre de manière
autonome ou être introduits dans les gammes
existantes de la collection Karol.
Die neuen Karol-Modelle nach einem Design von
Marc Sadler sind Ausdruck einer gemeinsamen
Vision für Badezimmer und eines stetigen
Strebens nach Innovation. Die Entwürfe sind
von ästhetischem Design und technologischer
Perfektion geprägt, die auf neue Materialien
setzt und innovative Lösungen für funktionelle
Elemente bietet. Darin drückt sich die innovative
Kraft der neuen Linien aus. Die Elemente
können alleinstehend eingesetzt oder in bereits
bestehende Kompositionen aus der Karol-
Kollektion eingebaut werden.
A partir de una visión común del baño y del
deseo de innovar, nacen las nuevas propuestas
Karol, todas con la firma de Marc Sadler. Una serie
de proyectos de fuerte impacto estético y alto
contenido tecnológico, que exploran el mundo
de los materiales y analizan nuevas soluciones de
aplicación de los elementos funcionales, como
expresión de una fuerza innovadora en el plano
conceptual. Propuestas transversales que pueden
vivir en forma autónoma o incorporarse en las
líneas existentes de la colección Karol.

The hidden siphon is the solution which expresses
the concept of perfect synthesis between shape
and function.

Der versteckte Siphon ist jene Lösung, die eine
perfekte Symbiose zwischen Form und Funktion

Per i lavabi senza mobile è stato creato un pannello, disponibile in varie
soluzioni estetiche frontali, con apposito vano tecnico per contenere il sifone e
tutto l’hardware di complemento al lavabo (rubinetteria, impianto elettrico per
l’illuminazione).
The washbasins without cabinet are provided with a panel, available in many
frontal aesthetical solutions, with a service space which holds the siphon and all
of the washbasins accessories (taps and fittings, electrical system for lighting).
Pour les lavabos sans meuble, on a créé un panneau, disponible en diverses
solutions esthétiques frontales, avec un logement technique spécial pour
contenir le siphon et tout l’équipement du lavabo (robinetterie, installation
électrique pour l’éclairage).
Für die Waschbecken ohne Schrank wurde ein Paneel mit unterschiedlichen
Frontausführungen geschaffen, das in einem gesonderten Teil dem Siphon
und der gesamten technischen Ausstattung des Waschbeckens Platz bietet
(Verrohrungen, Elektroanlage für die Beleuchtung).
Para los lavabos sin mueble se ha creado un panel, disponible en varias
soluciones estéticas frontales, con un compartimiento técnico especial para el
sifón y todo el hardware complementario (grifos, instalación eléctrica para la
iluminación).

units hide the siphon behind the cavity specially
created inside the units.
Krit, Korian, Kera et Kalla sur les porte-lavabos
correspondants Alpha 1 et 2 cachent le siphon
derrière l’interstice spécialement projeté des

Marc Sadler, francese, vive attualmente a Milano.
La sperimentazione con le materie plastiche,
tema della tesi di laurea nonché sua grande
curiosità personale, ha sempre avuto un posto di
primo piano nella sua attività di designer nei più
disparati settori merceologici.
Apolide in senso lato (ha vissuto ed esercitato
la professione in Francia, Stati Uniti, Asia
e Italia), collabora continuativamente con
importanti aziende dell’arredamento, dei piccoli
e grandi elettrodomestici, dell’illuminazione,
dei prodotti più tecnici, oltre che ancora
fortemente impegnato nel settore dello sport
con collaborazioni più che ventennali.
All’inizio degli anni ’70 mise a punto il primo
scarpone da sci in materiale termoplastico,
poi industrializzato dall’italiana Caber
(successivamente Lotto), con la quale instaurò
una pluriennale e fruttuosa collaborazione,
segnata tra l’altro dal brevetto dello scarpone
con scafo simmetrico, per parecchi anni il più
venduto al mondo. E’ questa l’origine della
specializzazione di Sadler nel “design dello
sport”, che lo ha portato a lavorare con tutte le
più importanti multinazionali dello sport in USA,
Asia, Giappone ed Europa.
Un’esperienza che gli ha permesso di maturare
una competenza composita su materie e
tecnologie di lavorazione. La “provenienza”
dal settore sportivo, dove la ricerca e
sperimentazione di nuovi materiali e processi
produttivi è più diffusa, gli ha consentito di
esportare conoscenze in settori dove il design in
senso classico è da più tempo radicato.
Pluripremiato con il “Compasso d’Oro” ADI – il
più ambito riconoscimento di design in Italia
– per le lampade Drop (Flos, 1995), Tite e Mite
(2001, Foscarini) e la libreria Big (2008, Caimi
Brevetti), ha ricevuto molti altri importanti
riconoscimenti internazionali di design.
Il suo Motorcyclist’s Back Protector (paraschiena
disegnato per Dainese) è nella collezione
permanente di design del MOMA di New York
e la Mite di Foscarini fa parte della collezione
design del Beaubourg di Parigi.

Marc Sadler, French, living currently in Milan.
Experimentation on plastic materials, the topic
of his degree thesis besides his own personal
curiosity, has always held a pre-eminent place in
his work as a designer in all kinds of fields.
Stateless broadly speaking (he has lived and
worked in France, the USA, Asia and Italy),
he collaborates continuously with important
companies dedicated to furniture, small and
large electrical household appliances, lighting,
and more technical productions, besides still
being very active in the sports sector with over
twenty years of collaboration.
At the start of the 70’s, he perfected the first
thermoplastic ski boot, then industrialised
by the Italian firm Caber (which went on to
become Lotto), with which he established a
profitable collaboration for many years. It was
highlighted by the patent he obtained for the
symmetrical shell boot, the most sold worldwide
for many years. This represented the origin of
his specialization as a “sports designer”, that
led him to work with all of the most important
multinational sport Companies in the United

His Motorcyclist’s Back Protector (for Dainese) is
in the permanent design collection of MOMA in
New York and the Mite of Foscarini is part of the
design collection of Beaubourg in Paris.

L’expérimentation avec les matières plastiques,
sujet de son mémoire de maîtrise et sa grande
curiosité personnelle, a toujours eu une place de
premier plan dans son activité de designer, dans
les secteurs commerciaux les plus variés.
Apatride au sens large du terme (il a vécu et
exercé sa profession en France, États-Unis,
Asie et Italie), il collabore régulièrement avec
d’importantes entreprises de l’ameublement
et décoration, de petits et grands appareils
électroménagers, de l’éclairage, de produits plus
techniques, puis encore fortement occupé dans
le secteur sportif avec des collaborations qui
durent depuis plus de vingt ans.
Au début des années 1970, il créa la première
chaussure de ski en matière thermoplastique,
puis industrialisée par la société italienne
Caber (successivement Lotto), avec laquelle
il instaura une collaboration rentable et qui
dura des années, marquée entre autres par le
brevet de la chaussure avec coque symétrique,
la plus vendue au monde pendant plusieurs
années. Voici l’origine de la spécialisation de
Sadler dans le « design du sport », qui l’a porté
à travailler avec les multinationales du sport les
plus importantes aux États-Unis, Asie, Japon et
Europe.
Une expérience qui lui a permis d’acquérir une
compétence hétérogène sur des matières et
des technologies de travail. La « provenance
» du secteur sportif, où la recherche et
l’expérimentation de nouveaux matériaux et
processus de production sont plus répandus,
lui a permis d’exporter les connaissances dans
des secteurs où le design, au sens classique, est
enraciné depuis plus longtemps.
Plusieurs fois primé avec le « Compas d’or » ADI
- le prix le plus convoité pour le design en Italie
- pour les lampes Drop (Flos, 1995), Tite et Mite
(2001, Foscarini) et la bibliothèque Big (2008,
Caimi Brevetti), il a reçu beaucoup d’autres prix
internationaux importants de design.
Son Motorcyclist’s Back Protector (protection
dorsale dessinée pour Dainese) fait partie de la
collection permanente de design du MOMA de
New York et la Mite de Foscarini de la collection
design du Beaubourg de Paris.
Marc Sadler, ein Franzose, lebt derzeit in Mailand.
Seine Experimente mit Kunststoffen, das
Thema seiner Doktorarbeit, sowie sein enormer
Wissensdrang waren die treibenden Elemente,
die ihn stets in seiner Tätigkeit als Designer
für die unterschiedlichsten Warengruppen
begleiteten.
Der Designer, ein Weltenbürger im
weitesten Sinn (er lebt und arbeitet in
Frankreich, in den USA, in Asien und Italien)
arbeitet stets mit großen Herstellern von
Einrichtungsgegenständen, Haushaltsgeräten
unterschiedlicher Größe, Beleuchtungskörpern
und technischen Produkten zusammen und
engagiert sich zudem seit mehr als 20 Jahren im
Sportbereich.
Zu Beginn der 70er Jahre entwarf er den ersten
Schischuh aus thermoplastischem Material, der
dann von der italienischen Firma Caber (später
Lotto) in den Handel gebracht wurde. Damit
setzte er den Grundstein für eine langjährige,
erfolgreiche Zusammenarbeit, aus welcher
unter anderem der patentierte Schischuh mit
symmetrischer Schale entstand, der viele Jahre
lang zum meist verkauften Modell wurde. Dies
erklärt, weshalb Sadler als “Sportdesigner”
bezeichnet wird, der mit den größten
Sportkonzernen in den USA, in Asien, Japan und
Europa zusammengearbeitet hat.
Eine Erfahrung, die es ihm ermöglicht hat eine
hohe Kompetenz in Bezug auf Materialien und
Bearbeitungstechnologien zu erlangen. Seine
Wurzeln im Sport, also einem Bereich, wo die
Forschung und Tests mit neuen Materialien und
Produktionsprozessen stärker verbreitet sind,
haben es ihm ermöglicht, seine Kenntnisse in
jene Sparten einzubringen, in denen Design im
klassischen Sinn von jeher stark verwurzelt war.
Er wurde mehrfach mit dem “Compasso d’Oro”
ADI, dem begehrtesten Designerpreis in Italien,
ausgezeichnet, den er für die Lampen Drop
(Flos, 1995), Tite e Mite (2001, Foscarini) und
den Bücherschrank Big (2008, Caimi Brevetti)
erhielt, und er errang noch zahlreiche weitere
internationale Auszeichnungen für Design.
Sein “Motorcyclist’s Back Protector” (ein
Rückenprotector, entworfen für Dainese) ist
in der Dauerausstellung für Design im MOMA
von New York zu sehen und die Leuchte Mite
von Foscarini ist Teil der Design-Kollektion im
Beaubourg in Paris.

La experimentación con materiales plásticos,
tema de la tesis de grado así como gran
curiosidad personal, ocupa desde siempre un
lugar prioritario en su actividad de diseñador en
los más variados sectores de productos.
Apátrida en sentido lato (ha vivido y ejercido
su profesión en Francia, Estados Unidos,
Asia e Italia), colabora en forma continua
con importantes empresas de decoración, de
pequeños y grandes electrodomésticos, de
iluminación, de productos más técnicos, además
de seguir profundamente comprometido
con el sector del deporte con relaciones de
colaboración de más de veinte años.
A principios de la década de los 70, puso a
punto la primera bota de esquí en material
termoplástico, industrializada en seguida por la
empresa italiana Caber (sucesivamente Lotto),
con la cual instauró una fructuosa y estable
relación de colaboración, marcada, entre otras
cosas, por la patente de la bota con casco
simétrico, que durante muchos años fue la
más vendida en el mundo. Este es el origen de
la especialización de Sadler en el “diseño del
deporte”, que lo ha llevado a trabajar con las
más importantes multinacionales del deporte en
los EE.UU., Asia, Japón y Europa.
Una experiencia que le ha permitido madurar
una competencia compleja en cuanto a
materiales y tecnologías de elaboración. La
“proveniencia” del sector deportivo, donde
la investigación y la experimentación de
nuevos materiales y procesos productivos son
tan familiares, le ha permitido transmitir su
conocimiento a sectores en los que el diseño en
el sentido clásico está radicado desde hace más
tiempo.
Premiado varias veces con el “Compás de oro”
ADI – el reconocimiento más importante en el
campo del diseño en Italia – por las lámparas
Drop (Flos, 1995), Tite e Mite (2001, Foscarini) y
la librería Big (2008, Caimi Brevetti), ha recibido
muchos otros importantes reconocimientos
internacionales de diseño.
Su Motorcyclist’s Back Protector (protector
de espalda diseñado para Dainese) está en la
colección permanente de diseño del MOMA de
Nueva York y la Mite de Foscarini forma parte de
la colección de diseño del Beaubourg de París.
