Note: The name Curtisia schreberi J.F. Gmel. is an earlier name for
this taxon. A combination of this epithet under Zanthoxylum
was suggested by Reynel in his doctoral dissertation but
never published. Since it is an obcure name (not used since its
publication in 1791), it would be better not to use it for the sake
of nomenclatural stability. We recommend that Zanthoxylum
monophyllum be proposed for conservation to prevent
Z. schreberi from supplanting it.
