The latest ownerof the estate has shown particular passion for these “collectinginterests” and has been able to further the collectionenormously.Intended for the decoration of a grand residence, the lots in this catalogue were chosenin order to form the framework around a lifestyle that had always been sensitiveto the demands of society yet remaining, to an even greater extent, wholly receptiveto the cultural influences of the time. The chandelier in rock crystal made in Genoa inthe 18 th century is a fine example of such a lifestyle, as are the French gilt wood armchairs- the height of Rococo sophistication - and the large Genoese chest of drawersin rosewood.Amongst these furnishings and paintings much attention in the collection was alsoplaced upon the finest of works from the orient.
