sono princìpi da cui nascono i sedili Luigi XV.
Vengono ridotte le proporzioni per ottenere
poltrone facili da spostare. Gli schienali
assumono forme avvolgenti e le sedute
diventano più profonde e accoglienti.
I braccioli arretrano per agevolare l’appoggio
delle braccia e accogliere le ampie gonne con
crinoline delle signore. Trionfa la linea curva;
lo sviluppo di fasce, gambe, schienale e
bracciolo segue un andamento continuo.
Anche le gambe si incurvano “a esse” per
terminare in un ricciolo. Nelle decorazioni si
dispiega una grande fantasia. Fiori solitari, a
tre o a mazzetti oppure motivi di riccioli,
fogliami, conchiglie e spume si poggiano su
fasce e gambe o disegnano schienali e
braccioli.

The spirit of lightness and the search for more
comfort are the principles that inspire Louis XV
seats. Proportions are reduced so that the
armchairs are easy to move. Backs have
enveloping shapes and seats become deeper and
more comfortable. Armrests are fixed a little
farther back on the seats to make it easier to
put on one’s arm on the rest and to allow
women with large crinoline skirts to sit
comfortably. Curved lines triumph, while the
development between bands, legs, back and
armrest follows a continuous movement. Legs
bend in an “S” shape and end in a curl.
Decorations show great imagination. Single
flowers, in groups of three or in bunches, or
motifs with curls, leaves, shells and foams rest
on the bands and legs or they are drawn on the
backs and armrest.
