since 2010 in several research projects financed by the
Lombardy Region and by the Ministry of Education, University
and Research (MIUR), aimed at increasing the
performance and reducing the weight of vehicles. Cooperating
and exchanging knowledge in such projects
with the Universities of Brescia, Modena, Bologna, and
with the FCA, ENEA and CNR research centres for the
ITALY 2020 project, increased the company’s technical
competence in just a few years. I would like to mention
thatinthepasttwoeditionsofMetef,OMRwasawarded
special prizes for its innovative drive.
Let us conclude this meeting by talking
aboutMetef,sinceyouwillofcoursebe
present in the event’s next edition that will
takeplaceinVeronafierefromthe21stto
the 24th of June, 2017. What can you tell us
about this trade event that celebrates its
first twenty years and that was the first in
the world to understand the importance of
aluminium, metal foundry and innovative
materials?
It is clear that in our segment of activity the cornerstone
isaluminium,itisthereforeimportantforusthattheentire
light metal industry may grow from a technological
and cultural standpoint. Metef may represent a means for
the technical development and the enhancement of the
imageoftheItaliansystemandoftheentireindustry.In
my opinion it is much more important to underline the
concept of the representation that Metef can provide to
an industrial area that in our country has established traditions
in the fields of light metal, foundry, extrusion and
in the whole range of machining and finishing connected
to light alloys. The industry is rich in experience and
knowledge well rooted in its territory, but it is important
for this system of companies and competence to be able
to move and develop with sensible and shared objectives.
Only in his way will it be possible for us to set important
objectives for ourselves and beat foreign competition,
today there is ample room for a great and fast development
of aluminium in the manufacturing sector, but we
needtocontinuouslymonitorandadaptourtechnological
level, above all in the light alloy foundry domain, in order
to ensure the highest possible competitive capabilities.
Metef is an interesting instrument we may make use
oftoexpresstheactualvalueofoursystem.

Concludiamo questo nostro incontro accennando
appunto a Metef, visto che sarete naturalmente
presenti anche alla prossima edizione dell’evento
che si terrà a Veronafiere dal 21 al 24 giugno del 2017.
Cosa ci può dire di questa manifestazione fieristica
che celebra i suoi primi vent’anni e che per prima
almondointuìl’importanzadell’alluminio,
della fonderia metalli, dei materiali innovativi?
E’chiarochenelnostrocompartodiattivitàlachiavedi
volta è l’alluminio, per noi è quindi importante che tuttalafilieradelmetalloleggerocrescadilivellotecnologicoeculturale.Metefpuòrappresentarelostrumentodisviluppotecnico
ediimmaginedelsistemaitaliano
e di tutta la filiera. E’ secondo me molto importante sottolineare
il concetto di rappresentatività che il Metef
può assicurare ad un’area industriale che nel nostro paesehalunghetradizioni
nelmetalloleggero,nellafonderia,nell’estrusioneeintuttoilcomplessodilavorazioni
e finiture collegate alle leghe leggere. La filiera è
ricca di esperienza e di conoscenze ben radicate nel territorio,
ma è opportuno che questo sistema di imprese e
di competenze sappia muoversi e svilupparsi con obiettiviragionatiecomuni.Solocosìpotremodarciobiettivi
importanti e battere la concorrenza internazionale. In
sostanza, oggi ci sono enormi spazi per un grande svilupporapidodell’alluminionelcompartomanifatturiero,ma
occorre monitorare ed adeguare continuamente il nostro
livello tecnologico, in particolare nel campo della
fonderia leghe leggere, per poter assicurare il massimo
della competitività. Il Metef è un interessante strumento
che abbiamo a disposizione per far capire quanto valga
effettivamenteilnostrosistema.
