Opere del verde
Anche quest’anno l’Amministrazione Comunale ha
deciso di sostenere con forza questa importante
manifestazione che si sviluppa principalmente su due
fronti: il Meeting dei paesaggisti e Piazza Vecchia,
che tutti abbiamo vissuto come nostro giardino, ma
che dal programma si vede svilupparsi in diversi
appuntamenti che possono interessare a vari livelli:
dai paesaggisti professionisti ai giardinieri e ai nostri
cittadini appassionati o hobbisti.
È quindi soprattutto ai cittadini che chiedo di
partecipare come lo scorso anno, vivendo appieno
nella nostra Piazza Verde, che rispecchia la peculiarità
del nostro territorio. Bergamo non può essere
definita una “Città Giardino”, ma una città fatta da
tanti giardini; come tanti sono i giardini privati, che
compongono il verde di cui tutti godiamo; basti vedere
i giardini dei nostri colli, che creano un tutt’uno con
quel verde diffuso ancora naturale che li avvolge e crea
una stupefacente atmosfera.
Quindi proprio questa natura, questi colli di
Bergamo, spesso coltivati con i diversi colori degli
ortaggi, incorniciano quella che ora numerosi turisti
apprezzano: Città Alta, con le sue torri, le mura e i vicoli.
Inoltre, come non poter sottolineare che questo
meeting a livello internazionale porta alla ribalta quello
che probabilmente questo periodo di crisi globale ci
chiede: ritorno alla sostenibilità ambientale, a scelte
di vita “green”, alla qualità dei luoghi in cui viviamo,
ritorno alla tradizione, alla terra e ai suoi valori, così
come vuole essere il messaggio del progetto di
Piazza Vecchia…Verde.
Infine, anche la presenza di Slow Food ci fa pensare
alla sostenibilità ambientale e anche alimentare,
all’attenzione per la nostra tradizione tipicamente locale.
Penso che tutto ciò sia molto importante per i nostri
figli, per dare loro ancora speranza nel futuro.
Once again in 2012 we are proud to welcome the event
which has two main parts, the Meeting and Piazza
Vecchia, in which we all felt so at home last year. This
year, the programme has been enhanced, having many
different events with appeal for everyone - professional
landscape architects, interested locals or amateur
gardeners.
Therefore we once again ask the citizens of Bergamo
to participate once more as they did last year, enjoying
Piazza Vecchia to the full, a square which reflects the
peculiarities of the area. Bergamo cannot be called a
“Garden City”, but it is nonetheless a city full of gardens,
many of them private, which create the colours which we
all enjoy. One needs only to observe the gardens in the
hills around Bergamo and their many different shades of
green which merge together with astonishing effect.
It is this very landscape, these Bergamo hills, often sown
with crops of different colours which frame that which is
so much appreciated by visitors to the area - Città Alta
with its towers, the Venetian wall and narrow streets.
I must also draw attention to how this International
Meeting brings sustainability to the fore, perhaps
a reaction to the global crisis. We wish to promote
environmental sustainability and make “green” choices
for the places in which we live. A return to tradition, to
the earth and its fundamental values. This is also the
underlying message of Piazza Vecchia…nature.
To conclude, the presence of the Slow Food organisation
encourages one to think not only of environmental
sustainability but also that of food and attention to our
local traditions. It is not only important for us, but for our
children and their hopes for the future.
