l 2016 has been a more than satisfying year for exports.
Dati e mercati di sbocco dell’export italiano
nell’ambito dell’Unione Europea
Il 2016 è stato decisamente soddisfacente anche per
quanto riguarda le esportazioni.
Le aziende italiane hanno una forte propensione
all’export (circa il 75% delle vendite è realizzato all’estero).
all’anno precedente. Tengono i mercati maturi come
Francia, Germania e Belgio.
Final figures.
Spain is also noteworthy, having been one
of the worst affected markets during the
recession losing around 60% of its value. Over
the last two years, this market has really picked
up again as machinery exports for a total of
€53 million in 2016 shows.
The other surprise for the year was,
unquestionably, the UK. Following the Brexit
vote, in a climate of general instability, Italian
manufacturers still sold over €100 million of
machinery, a situation that may be difficult to
repeat in 2017, but for sure will be watched
closely.
Bringing the analysis of the EU to a close are
Croatia and Slovenia, important markets which
together with other Balkan states like Serbia-
Montenegro and Bosnia Erzegovina, have
reached a combined total value of €38 million.
Ease of access, absence of trade barriers
and cultural similarities mean Italy enjoys a
competitive advantage here when compared to
Germany or China.
Moving outside the EU, Russia requires
individual attention due to the political tensions
and international sanctions that are still very
much the order of the day. The devaluation
of the Ruble and difficulty in accessing credit
are both stumbling blocks to trade. 2016’s
figures are testament to this with overall trade
standing at €34 million, up 8% on the previous
year, but when compared to pre-crisis levels of
