Only in 2009 when she was given a Nikon d5000,<br />
a highly professional tool, did she discover the<br />
sometimes complicated world of the machinery<br />
behind a Reflex lens. A world which immediately<br />
conquered her. From that moment on she never<br />
stopped taking pictures and looking at everything<br />
from a different perspective that the quotation<br />
“Carpe Diem” become one with her. As well as nature<br />
and landscapes, she also loves industrial architecture<br />
and the social and urban “bruises” which<br />
she freezes with her lens transforming each shot<br />
into a story. But her photographic stories are not<br />
only external. “I love studio photography, especially<br />
portraits where I create and develop a dialogue<br />
with my interlocutor.” And as regarding portraits,<br />
her masters are Richard Avedon and Irving Penn<br />
from whom she has learnt the secrets of this kind<br />
of photography. Light, on a par with the subjects<br />
she photos, is the undisputed protagonist of each<br />
of her shots. From her position, Paola Sessa chooses<br />
to make herself invisible to let the soul of those<br />
who pass through the viewfinder of her Nikon<br />
d5000 emerge.<br />
Soltanto nel 2009 quando le hanno regalato una<br />
Nikon d5000, uno strumento altamente professionale,<br />
ha scoperto un mondo, a volte complicato,<br />
quello del meccanismo che sta dietro l’obbiettivo<br />
di una Reflex. Mondo che l’ha subito conquistata.<br />
Da quel momento non ha più smesso di fotografare<br />
e di guardare tutto in un’ottica diversa tanto che<br />
la citazione “Carpe Diem” è diventata un tutt’uno<br />
con lei. Oltre alla natura e ai paesaggi ama anche<br />
l’architettura industriale e l’ammaccatura sociale<br />
e urbana che ferma con l’obiettivo trasformando<br />
ogni scatto in una storia. Ma i suoi racconti fotografici<br />
non sono soltanto in esterno. “Amo la foto<br />
in studio, in particolare il ritratto, dove creo e sviluppo<br />
un dialogo con il mio interlocutore”. E sul<br />
ritratto i suoi grandi maestri sono Richard Avedon<br />
e Irving Penn dai quali ha appreso i segreti di questo<br />
genere di fotografia. La luce, al pari dei soggetti<br />
che ritrae, è protagonista indiscussa di ogni<br />
sua immagine. Dalla propria posizione, Paola Sessa<br />
sceglie di rendersi invisibile per lasciare emergere<br />
l’anima di chi passa attraverso il mirino della sua<br />
