journey through the wonders of the
deep that exalts nature while at the
same time focussing on the difficult
relationship it has with mankind,
in a journey of sensitisation and
information on the undersea world.
“The project has arisen from my
passion for the sea and my wish to
convey, through photography, my
love for the marine environment
and, in particular, the need to
look after it. I have immortalised
fish and other species in Japan,
Australia, Indonesia and in our
own Mediterranean, which is the
guardian of treasures which it is
everybody’s duty to protect,” Borghi
commented.
Another environmental challenge
has been taken on by Randy Olson, a
long-standing National Geographic
contributor and lecturer at the
Siena Stories Workshop. His Plastic
Apocalipse show in the Basilica di
San Domenico reflects the delicate
balance, harmony and beauty of the
Earth in its tough struggle against
pollution. It is a call to protect the
life of the planet, and to become
conscious that everything we do
changes the face of the world in a
way that cannot be rectified.
