‘’One child, one teacher, one book and one

pen can change the world‘’

This is what Malala Yousafzai said. She is an important Pakistani activist.

HER LIFE

In 2004 the Taliban began to control the Swat Valley, where Malala lives, and

quickly became the dominant socio-political force throughout much of

northwestern Pakistan. Girls were banned from some activities, like attending

school. So Malala gave a speech in Peshawar in September 2008. Malala became

an internally displaced person. However she used the media and continued her

public campaign for her right to go to school. Her activism resulted in a

nomination for the International Children's Peace Prize in 2011. That same year,

she was awarded Pakistan's National Youth Peace Prize.
