FIGURE
OUT
“Figure Out” è un invito a portare su carta immagini,
nostro immaginario personale, diventa soluzione decorativa
“Figure Out” is an invitation to put on paper the images, shapes and patterns from the designers’ imagination, which once
shared become decorative objects capable of breathing new life into a space. The city stands as the backdrop for each
individual’s recent experiences of solitude and uncertainty while being forced to remain within the four walls of their homes.
In the same way, wallpaper and rugs become messages made of colours, graphics and images, as well as instruments for
creating connection and contact with others. Reclaiming urban spaces and exposing the city to creative elements taken
from our imagination becomes both a decorative solution, as well as a means to breakout and escape from our isolation.

About
Texturae
Futuribili, nostalgici, iconici e surreali, i mondi
spazi e riscrivere prospettive. Un’esperienza
estetica unica e personalissima che diventa
narrazione, storia personale e che trasforma
l’abitare in vivere.
votato all’eccellenza.
In questi
importanti collaborazioni artistiche e investimenti aziendali in
spazi diversi evoca sensazioni completamente differenti perché
Futuristic, nostalgic, iconic and surreal, the Texturae
world is a weft of art capable of redesigning
spaces and rewriting perspectives. A unique and
intimate experience which becomes a narrative,
a personal story and transforms simply living
within a space into an immersive experience.
Texturae was founded in Reggio Calabria in 2016. In 2014, the
initial idea for Texturae began to take form; after two years of
research and hard work from both the artistic and production
teams, Texturae was launched at Fuorisalone in Milan in April
2016. Texturae is a natural evolution of the business acumen that
years earlier motivated the founder, Daniele Morabito to create
his rug company: Karpeta. Inspired by his family’s passion for
antique objects and driven by his personal interest in furniture,
Daniele has created an innovative brand dedicated to the pursuit
of excellence. Having carefully observed the market’s new trends,
he saw the potential of using wallpaper as a new design element.
When looking at colours, the eye is fascinated by textures and
patterns, wallpaper can almost spontaneously appear with one
glance, from the carpet up towards the wall, appearing as a
continuum of the floor itself.
Noted for its revolutionary characteristics and unique design
collaborations with international artists has made Texturae standout
from the crowd, becoming immediately recognizable within
the design realm. Texturae has grown over the years through
important artistic collaborations and having made significant
business investments in search of innovative yet, high-performing
sustainable materials that eventually increased the brand’s value.
Above all else, Texturae is an ‘open space’ which allows us to imagine.
A space for daring visual input far from the usual stereotypes. Its
revolutionary and avant-garde personality expresses itself with a
deliberate language outside the box, thus becoming a design ruse
to revolutionise the overall vision of a living space. The goal is to
transform the space, invading it with new forms of contemporary
art. The understanding that a mutual interpretation will never
be reached, but one can appreciate the freedom to have infinite
possibilities of expression. Each product generates a personal
aesthetic experience and each design tells a unique story.
The wallpaper itself evokes different sensations in different living
spaces because it merges with the experiences of its environment
going beyond material perception. The variety of Texturae’s collections
is a way to explore this universe of emotions and possibilities of
the mind through a synergy of colours, techniques and materials.
The aim is to create a new experience for our clients, to excite
and disconnect them from their ordinary visual routine.
CARIN SCHEVE
Carin lascia Parigi per trasferirsi a New York, dove
impegnati su tutti i progetti dello studio legati a
immagine e stile. Durante la sua permanenza in
Italia, Carin inizia a sviluppare e creare prodotti per
diversi progetti di interior design, senza rinunciare
al lavoro di stylist e direttore creativo. Oggi Carin
vive e lavora a New York, e continua ad aggiungere
Carin Scheve is Dutch by design, but French, Italian
and American in spirit. After her studies in fashion,
she started working with Li Edelkoort, the famous
trend forecaster in Paris. In addition she started
working as a freelance fashion and interior stylist, for
clients such as Hermes, Cartier, Galeries Lafayette,
Vogue France and Marie Claire Maison. From Paris,
Carin moved to New York where she continued to
style, though her work increasingly involved creating
creative concepts and direction. At this time Carin
developed her vision as an interior stylist, working
to bring a unique concept and sense of creativity to
each project. The work in interiors had become her
greatest passion, and when she met the designer Piero
Lissoni who invited her to come to Milan, she did.
Together they began a collaboration for all style and
image related projects in his studio. During her time
in Italy, Carin started to create and design products
for several projects and interiors, alongside her work
as stylist and creative director. Today she works and
lives in New York, still creating magic in every image,
interior and product she touches.
BRIT VAN NERVEN
Brit usa diversi strumenti come
work on commissioned and self initiated projects. Her work explores the relationship
between form, colour and space from a contemporary social context. It translates
her narrative way of thinking into an abstract idiom and shows a strong dialogue
between fashion and product design. In effect, she focuses on the tension between
handicraft and industrial manufacture with the aim to explore new possibilities
for materials and techniques in an experimental way. She uses several different
types of media such as, photography, film and graphic design to tell the full story.
DWA DESIGN STUDIO
DWA viene fondato a Milano nel 2005
da Alberto Artesani e Frederik De
Wachter. Il nostro lavoro si sviluppa
attraverso un continuo dialogo fra
sensibilità diverse e interessi comuni,
ricerca, rigore e ispirazione, declinando
il processo creativo alle molteplici
forme del vivere. Dialoghiamo in modo
trasversale con il mondo del design,
della moda e dell’abitare, spaziando
dall’interior agli allestimenti, dal
retail all’art direction alla ricerca sul
prodotto. Progettiamo spazi privati
e collettivi in cui vivere, sostare e
condividere. Dal grande al piccolo,
dal contenitore al contenuto, diamo
identità ai nostri progetti dal concept
alla realizzazione finale, trasformandoli
in soluzioni creative in sintonia con i
bisogni dei nostri clienti. DWA Design
Studio ha progettato per Wallpaper*
Magazine, Elle Decor Italia, Salvatore
Ferragamo, Rimowa, Atelier Swarovski,
Room Mate Hotels, Arpa, Ermenegildo
Zegna Group ed altri leader nel mondo
del design, lifestyle e moda.
In 2005, DWA was founded in Milan
by Alberto Artesani and Frederik De
Wachter. Our work developed through a
continuous dialogue between different
sensitivities and shared interests,
research, rigour and inspiration and
complying the creative process to
the many ways of living. We dialogue
across-the-board with the world of
design, fashion and living -ranging
from interior, exhibition design, retail
to art direction and product research.
We design private and public spaces
in which to live, relax and share. From
RUI PEREIRA
Rui Pereira è un product designer
portoghese. La sua infinita curiosità
verso culture diverse e nuovi modi
designer spagnola Patricia Urquiola. Oggi
vive a Copenaghen, dove lavora come
responsabile della direzione design e
visual per Hay, brand di arredamento
danese. Lavorando a contatto con diverse
realtà, Rui ha sviluppato nel tempo una
posizione critica nei confronti dei processi
industriali in uso nel settore del design
e più in generale, nella società moderna.
La ricerca costante di nuove prospettive
ed esperienze diverse lo porta a ridefinire
e proporre tipologie di prodotto che
creano un collegamento immediato con
chi ne usufruisce, riuscendo allo stesso
tempo a sensibilizzare sulle tematiche
importanti dei nostri tempi. Nei suoi
progetti, Rui esplora le potenzialità dei
materiali e delle tecniche di produzione,
ricorrendo a un linguaggio tagliente
che trova la sua espressione nei suoi
prodotti, sinceri e pertinenti.
Rui Pereira is a product designer born in
Portugal. His ceaseless interest in learning
from different cultures and mindsets led
him to become a nomad: he has lived in
Valencia and Milan, where he has worked
for Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola
and is currently based in Copenhagen
where he works as design and visual
direction manager for danish furniture
brand HAY. By working and contacting with
different realities he has progressively
developed a critical position towards the
design industry processes and society in
general. His research focus on finding new
perspectives and experiences by proposing
or redefining product typologies which
create an immediate connection with the
user and simultaneously raising awareness
on relevant contemporary issues. In his
projects, Rui explores the potentialities of
materials and manufacturing techniques,
making use of a sharp language to ultimately
deliver clear pertinent objects.
I fondatori,
Sans Nom is a product design studio based in Italy. It takes a radical approach
with its work and aims to discover hidden everyday details – frequently forgotten
or taken for granted – and to bring their poetry into objects of use and research.
The intent is to create products that reflects this peculiar research in a reasoned
and nuanced way. An exploration and redefinition of shapes characterised by a
strong conceptual approach, balanced with meticulous research for effortless
functionality. The founders are driven by their deeply rooted passion to create
to speak for themselves in a pure and straightforward way.
WUNDERGALLERY
Wundergallery is an artisanal design atelier specializing in the study of graphic patterns.
The starting point of each project is based on a hand-printed matrix, by using a xylograph
(woodcut), monotype or a marbling technique. Basically, sincere research of a crafted design:
press, ink and paper become tools to explore the expressive potential of signs. Currently,
the studio collaborates with companies, designers and architects for the design of new
products, custom prototypes and artisanal production of graphic elements. Art designer and
founder of Wundergallery, Eleonora Zampieri revisits the historical foundations in eclectic
and interdisciplinary style phenomena. By combining a rigorous research with creativity, she
creates objects with strong and unique characters that can coexist in total harmony. Graphic
designer, Alessia Fantinato studies colour palettes and the process of digitizing and exporting
patterns to be printed on different materials.
Wanderlust
AR-O STUDIO
a paesaggi incontaminati e continenti sconosciuti. Il
tempo diviene una dimensione frammentata dove le
idee continuano a vivere e i pensieri si sovrappongono,
convivono, divenendo colori, forme, micro pattern e
personaggi, ripetuti nel tempo e nello spazio come
un pensiero costante.
Physical space is no longer a place of confinement but
a shrine to our wandering imagination that opens us to
uncontaminated landscapes and unknown continents.
Time becomes a fragmented dimension where ideas
continue to live. Thoughts overlap and coexist becoming
colours, shapes, micro-patterns and characters repeated
in time and space like a constant thought.
A journey within has the immense possibility of
through the evocative power of memories which is a
source of creative re-elaboration. It is the cure for
an inability to travel and allows us not only to relive
escape from everyday life and from the feeling of
“missing out.”
Paesaggio II
WUNDERGALLERY
guarda questi soggetti.
Paesaggio II delivers an aerial vision of landscapes, organic
forms of mountain ranges and imaginary maps of familiar
places. The abstract nature of the pattern allows you
to always spot something new based on our personal
lives and dream experiences. The faces, the landscapes,
the earth seen from the sky- these are just some of the
possible meanings and details you might discover every
time you look at these subjects.
This landscape is a blurred vision that is meant to
evoke different places, be it an underwater place or
a mountain view with imaginary colours. It can also
become another planet, it is a suggestive vision. The
colours are mixed by the pastel pencils, as are the
feelings while you are looking at it - a colourful canvas
and at the same time melancholic, similar to looking
at a large window with a view.
Solária
BRH+
matrice a losanghe ripetute: raggi luminosi, proiezioni
A field of uniform colour scored by fine lines which
intersect in oblique wefts in a matrix of repeated
lozenges: bright rays, shadow projections, trajectories of
small celestial bodies. Solária is a window onto a new
and unknown horizon, the map of a new sky and of an
abstract firmament. The graphic design is a dedication
to the art of Piero Portaluppi, to his refined architecture,
recurring decorative motifs and his passion for scientific
instruments of measurement through an abstract
interpretation of the warp of the hour lines on a sundial.
Harmonica
BRIT VAN NERVEN
dimensione allo spazio.
Harmonica Wallpaper is a visual expression of the
designer’s continuous research on how colours, shapes
and materials interact. Harmonica shows a meeting of
colours in the shape of a harmonica, also known as a
between front and back. The shape creates the illusion
of depth and gives a new dimension to the space.
Blush
CARIN SCHEVE
“The collection is inspired by both the old Italian fresco’s,
as well as the work from the Dutch masters of the art
period called De Stijl, as that is my own heritage. The
wallpapers are a ‘marriage’ between Italian and Dutch
history. With the feel of handprinted versus digital print,
these wallpapers are a modern version of the fresco’s
found in Italian palaces and homes. The name Blush
for this collection, is a synonym for the watercolour
technique used to create them. The light brushstrokes
of the watercolour creates a soft set of colours, much
like a blush.”
Interaction
of colour
diversificate.
Inspired by the interiors of Le Corbusier and the graphic
plates of Josef Albers, this collection investigates the
forced perspective. This perception is simply induced by
the use of geometric shapes and colours. These elements
create a boiserie with a perspective breakthrough effect
that amplifies and gives a new dimension to the wall. The
colour combinations can be tonal or vibrant to create
new and diversified suggestions.
Grid Gates
LIO DE BRUIN
Rotterdam. L’unione di queste griglie costruttive su
scale completamente diverse conduce a composizioni
sottili e giocose allo stesso tempo.
For the designs of these wallpapers, Lio was inspired
by the graphics in the weaving guides that she uses
in her own weaving process and from the modern
architectural buildings that surround Rotterdam. The
union of these grids on completely different scales
creates a subtle and playful composition at the same
time.
Rapport
Rapport - TXFG22192
The starting point for this project is a reflection on
the principle of the relationship, the technique used
to repeat a pattern in order to create a visual effect of
uniformity by using individual sections, in this case strips
of paper. Instead of using the relationship to confer a
homogenous effect, the challenge for the designer is
how to identify potential individual expressions with a
continuous print on a roll of paper. The final result is
produced by a rhythm which changes according to the
height of the space where the wallpaper will be hung.
DWA DESIGN STUDIO
rende l’insieme fluido e conferisce tridimensionalità
ad una superficie piana.
Curiosity and an interest in small gestures are the basis
of this exercise which, like a game, explores the aspect
and properties of a surface, seen as a space that can be
brought to life, designed and sensitized using the most
varied means and elements. An intertwining created by
the repetition and superimposing of segments placed
at equal distances becomes a shower of marks whose
thickness increases and decreases, the surface comes
alive and pulsates. This perception of movement is
generated by the combination of colours amongst the
background - giving three-dimensionality to a flat surface.
Largo
Largo - TXFG22221
LAURA AFFINITO
The creative play behind this collection comes from
a simple squared sheet of paper as a comparison,
the marks come about unexpectedly, moving freely
between the lines and their intersections within a
simple regular grid.
Lighthouse
AR-O STUDIO
e colori.
The superimposition of two layers creates a pattern
that resembles light waves or strokes on the magnetic
spectrum. Just like a lighthouse that has been synthesized
by playing with the superimposition of different layers,
creating a dance of the elements, shapes and colours.
Digital Tartan
AR-O STUDIO
L’utilizzo
del colore crea un gioco vibrato in contrapposizione
al tessuto monocromatico.
Inspired by the classic Tartan fabric, the word itself derives
from the French word “tiretain” which in turn, originates
from the French verb “tirer” to weave threads in contrast
to a solid-coloured fabric. The use of colour creates an
exciting game of contrasts with the monochromatic fabric.
Risultato di una performance artistica ispirata alle
Opus sectile
Ritraendo
Trasformato in
linguaggio estetico dalle molteplici letture.
The drawings of this wallpaper originate from cyanotype
By portraying the small letters that were once used in
typography, Paola Bernardi has invented a visual language
in code to connect and communicate with the world
Faded lines
RUI PEREIRA
tradizionale motivo a strisce acquisisce maggiore
By using a gradient line pattern, an additional volume
layer has been added to the archetypal stripe motif.
To further emphasize the potential of creating a three
dimensional landscape, a randomized version, featuring
different stripe width has been developed, giving the
larger ones a column like presence.
Grid Bars
LIO DE BRUIN
Rotterdam. L’unione di queste griglie costruttive su
scale completamente diverse conduce a composizioni
sottili e giocose allo stesso tempo.
For the designs of these wallpapers, Lio was inspired
by the graphics in the weaving guides that she uses
in her own weaving process and from the modern
architectural buildings that surround Rotterdam. The
union of these grids on completely different scales
creates a subtle and playful composition at the same
Vinyl solutions
Special solutions
(T)ECH
WE(T)
lavabile e ignifuga. La combinazione di questi materiali garantisce
resistenza e flessibilità in fase di posa. Particolarmente adatto in
porte, soffitti).
This high-performance support is made up of a non-woven fabric base
and a vinyl upper part. The surface is both washable and flame-resistant.
The combination of these materials guarantees durability and flexibility
when hanging. It is particularly suitable for highly-frequented interiors
with irregular shapes (walls, doors, ceilings).
alta frequentazione. Possiede una grande resistenza all’abrasione e
Richiede
minima manutenzione ed è ipoallergenica. È ideale per spazi come
bagni, cucine, spa e palestre grazie alla resistenza a umidità e calore.
Fibreglass is the ideal covering for highly-frequented areas and humid
environments. It has a strong resistance to scratches, is UV-resistant and
does not turn yellow. It is also low-maintenance and hypo-allergenic.
Its resistance to humidity and heatproof qualities make it ideal for
bathrooms, kitchens, spas and gyms.
ME(T)
INSULA(T)
The vinyl covering is enhanced with silver reflections thanks to a metallic
base on which the design is printed. ME(T) has the same technical
characteristics of durability as (T)ECH, as well as being practical to hang,
maintain and remove. The iridescent effect plays with the light which
brightens and enhances a space.
isolamento dalle onde sonore provenienti dall’esterno. Presenta
This is a sound absorbing covering which improves acoustics in interior
spaces. Made up of different layers of vinyl material, it produces an
excellent balance between the absorption and reflection of sound waves
by eliminating the “echo” effect and at the same time, isolation from
outdoor sounds. Its technical and aesthetic characteristics are similar
to vinyl and in addition, it carries out the function of sound absorption.
e pubblici.
The ecological version of non-woven fabric produced by combining cellulose fibres. This type
of support represents the evolution of traditional wallpaper; it has the effect of paper to the
touch while maintaining the characteristic strengths typical of non-woven fabrics. The smooth
weft enhances both complex and geometric patterns and the use of a natural fibre without
formaldehyde makes it a versatile and sustainable choice; ideal for interior spaces in homes
and public spaces.
drop, net e trace.
This is the embossed version of PRIN(T): the same material, but the surface has a relief motif
produced by pressure that embellishes the decorative effect of the print. It is possible to choose
Natural solutions
NA(T) - FLOW
Cinque nuovi materiali completamente sostenibili
Five new sustainable materials with a powerful aesthetic
impact, highlighted by the naturalness of the fibres. The
ecological aspect does not mean the durability and
versatility are sacrificed. These supports are particularly
suitable for homes where the living space cannot be
separated from the necessity for natural decorative
materials.
This delicate interweaving of paper fibres creates a subtle, yet strong
weft for a highly refined covering. Its material quality is apparent both to
the eye and to the touch. The basic colour tends to be more cream for
an antique, almost vintage effect by desaturating colours and providing
visual relaxation to the space.
Sisal, is a completely sustainable fibre from a particular type of agave
that once woven produces a very strong fabric. It is rough in appearance
and to the touch, in alignment with the radical aesthetic conveyed when
thinking of ecological materials. In its raw state, it has striped veining
and a large weft that creates movement, reminiscent of other natural
materials such as, bamboo or rice paper, thus lending itself to orientalthemed
prints.
dettagli vanno evidenziati. Il retro in tessuto non tessuto conferisce
resistenza e facilita la posa.
This is a more structured version obtained by interweaving paper fibres.
The mesh is wider and more noticeable and the weft is rounder creating
a greater three-dimensional effect. Its pure white colour makes the
chromatic contrast stronger. The bold texture enhances prints for floral
wallpapers or for designs in which lines and details are highlighted. The
non-woven fabric backing gives it strength and makes it easy to hang.
Lucens is a support in pure linen, a completely natural and sustainable
fabric with an irregular texture that lends movement. The colour of the
raw fibre ranges from hints of ivory, ecru, brown and grey and creates
a deliberately ‘stained’ effect, while the natural sheen of the material
exalts the colour of the print.
It is a natural and precious coating that covers the walls with the beauty
of wild silk. The texture is thin, distinctly horizontal, rough to the touch
and irregular at times. The silky fibres stands out for its raw appearance
and is noted for absorbing reflective colours and light thereby restoring
the richness of shades, warm reflections and a brilliant sheen. This is
why NA(T) – SILK can be used to enhance a wide selection of designs.
The material is 100% silk with a non–woven backing for greater resistance
and to facilitate an easier application.
Project box
doppia connotazione, creativa e commerciale.
All’interno della
quanto delicata. Gli abbinamenti e le proposte, che
nascono quasi spontaneamente maneggiando i vari
campioni, vanno a comporre moodboard ispirazionali
Project Box is a new tool between the associated brands,
Karpeta and Texturae and a collaboration with the iconic
decorative paint brand: Wilson & Morris. Project Box focuses
on both the creative and business side. It is an invaluable
source of inspiration- providing a wide-range of proposals
for decorative elements and coverings- everything useful
for architects, interior designers, and retailers. Inside the
box is a selection of Texturae wallpapers, colour samples
from the Savanna B Karpeta rug collection and includes
Wilson & Morris paint samples. These materials, patterns
and colours have been selected and matched together
by the art direction of Ar-o Studio. The selection enables
one to create endless combinations and help facilitate
a delicate decision-making process. As soon as you see
the combination of samples, you become inspired to
create a variety of mood boards for your clients when
choosing their finishings, thus offering an effective
solution to share with clients in both design and sales.
