Il CAEF si trasforma:
nasce la European Foundry Federation (EFF)
Nuovo nome e nuova governance per l’associazione europea, che sarà
guidata nel prossimo triennio da Chiara Danieli. Il presidente di Assofond
Fabio Zanardi entra nel board
L’associazione europea di fonderia, nota a
tutti come CAEF, cambia nome in European
Foundry Federation (EFF) e si proietta nel
futuro con l’obiettivo di aumentare la propria
capacità di intervento nei meccanismi
decisionali dell’Unione Europea. Grazie a una
modifica dello statuto approvata dall’assemblea
generale tenutasi a Sofia, in Bulgaria,
dal 28 al 30 settembre scorsi, l’associazione
imbocca così un nuovo corso per rispondere
alle sfide che l’industria manifatturiera deve
affrontare.
Dopo il quadriennio 2020-2023, durante il
quale le fonderie europee sono state messe
alla prova da eventi del tutto imprevedibili –
la pandemia, gli shock energetici e gli shortage
di materie prime – quanto anche da politiche
europee pro-ambiente estremamente
sfidanti, l’EFF affronta i prossimi anni con
nuova determinatezza e soprattutto con la
consapevolezza di essere una voce protagonista
nell’industria manifatturiera del nostro
continente.
Obiettivo principale dell’associazione è accrescere
la visibilità e l’influenza del settore della
fonderia e diventare una voce sempre più affidabile
e autorevole per l’industria della fonderia
europea. I costi energetici, le nuove normative
ambientali e la difficoltà crescente nel
reperire forza lavoro qualificata sono solo alcuni
dei punti critici che le imprese del settore
devono affrontare, e che richiedono una più
forte rappresentanza dell’industria europea
della fonderia nell’arena politica di Bruxelles.
Consapevole di queste esigenze, l’EFF è pronta
a cogliere la sfida di affrontare le complessità
di un panorama industriale in rapida
evoluzione e, agendo come forza unificante, a

Fabio Zanardi joins the board
The Committee of Association of European
Foundries, known to all as CAEF, is changing
its name to the European Foundry Federation
(EFF) and is heading into the future with the
aim of increasing its capacity to intervene in
the decision-making mechanisms of the European
Union. Thanks to an amendment to the
statute approved by the General Assembly
held from 28 to 30 September in Sofia, Bulgaria,
the association is thus embarking on a
new course to meet the challenges facing the
manufacturing industry.
After the four-year period 2020 to 2023, during
which European foundries were tested by
totally unpredictable events—the pandemic,
energy shocks and raw material shortages—
as well as extremely challenging European
pro-environmental policies, the EFF looks to
the coming years with new determination and,
above all, with the awareness that it is a leading
voice in our continent’s manufacturing industry.
The association’s main objective is to increase
the visibility and influence of the foundry sector
and to become an increasingly reliable and
authoritative voice for the European foundry
industry. Energy costs, new environmental
regulations and the growing difficulty in find-
