Dove ci troviamo

La Riviera di Levante, nella sua zona di indiscutibile fascino

allo sbocco della val Petronio, ad est di Genova, è casa di una

cittadina che mantiene intatto il suo spirito marinaresco, con

una spruzzata di paesaggio collinare da esplorare a cavallo

e una di bistrot sofisticati in cui perdersi a mezzogiorno:

Moneglia.

Non a caso, secondo alcuni, il toponimo del paese

deriverebbe proprio dal latino “monilia”, monile, cioè

qualcosa prezioso. Situato nel Golfo del Tigullio, è rinomato

per il clima gradevole, tipicamente mediterraneo, la qualità

della vita e del turismo che lo tengono sempre in vetta alle

cronache, nonché per le sue acque, specchi gemelli di

quelli di Riva Trigoso e Sestri Levante, meno delle scogliere

accidentate, ma ugualmente suggestive, di Deiva Marina, il

primo comune che precede Moneglia e in cui ci si imbatte

partendo da La Spezia. Il borgo di Moneglia si trova

all’interno di una piccola baia racchiusa da due promontori,

in mezzo ad uliveti e vigneti, il Punta Moneglia, una pineta

cresciuta selvatica e impraticabile senza mantenersi sui

dovuti sentieri, ad ovest, e ad est il Punta Rospo, sbocco

per le zone residenziali fino all’abitato di Lemeglio. Il territorio

comunale comprende anche le frazioni di Bracco, Casale,

Camposoprano, Comeglio, Crova, Facciù, Lemeglio,

Littorno, San Lorenzo, San Saturnino e Tessi.

Where we are

On the eastern Riviera, east of Genoa, lies the small

town of Moneglia. The area is of unquestioned

beauty, at the end of the Petronio valley; and the

town has maintained its seafaring atmosphere,

the hills nearby can be explored on horseback, and

there is a sophisticated bistro to visit at midday.

Not by chance the name of the town is derived from

the latin “monilia”, meaning something precious.

Situated on the Gulf of Tigullio, it is famous for its

pleasant climate, typically Mediterranean,and for

the quality of life and tourism, holding its name

high, as much as for the quality of its sea water.

This is the same as that of Casarza Ligure and

Sestri Levante, and for the uneven rocky coast of

Deiva Marina, equally as evocative, which lies near

Moneglia , towards La Spezia. Moneglia lies on a

small bay, closed in by two headlands, among the

olive groves and vineyards. To the west is Punta

Moneglia, a wild pine wood, where you have to keep

to the foot-paths, and to the east is Punta Rospo,

near to the residential area of Lemeglio. The

district includes Bracco, Casale, Camposoprano,

Corneglio, Crova, Facciù, Lemeglio, Littorno, San

Lorenzo, San Saturnino and Tessi.

Moneglia, commune et charmante petite

ville côtière située sur la magnifique Riviera

du Levant se trouve à l'embouchure de la

vallée Petronio, à Est de Gênes et entourée

de collines qui, pourquoi pas, peuvent être

explorées à cheval. L’origine du nom Moneglia

dérive certainement du latin «monilia» qui

veut dire quelque chose de précieux. Sa

position au sein du Tigullio lui confère,

comme pour le reste du golfe, un climat

agréable typiquement méditerranéen et une

certaine qualité de vie. Grâce au tourisme,

la région vit un frétillement permanent. Les

eaux cristallines miroirs de Riva Trigoso et de

Sestri Levante, les rochers moins ardus mais

tout aussi invitants de Deiva Marina font de

Moneglia un petit pays adorable. Moneglia

est insérée à l’intérieure d’une petite baie

fermée par deux promontoires : Punta

Moneglia et Punta Rospo.

Les alentours sont cultivés d’oliviers et de

vignes, une pinède sauvage s’étend à Ouest,

et à Est de Punta Rospo débouche la zone

résidentielle qui s’étale jusqu’à la fraction

Lemeglio. Moneglia remembre les fractions

Bracco, Casale, Camposoprano, Comeglio,

Crova, Facciù, Lemeglio, Littorno, San

Lorenzo, San Saturnino et Tessi.

Im Gebiet der Mündung des Petronio Tals, östlich von

Genua, in einer Umgebung unbestreitbaren Charmes,

beherbergt die Riviera di Levante eine Stadt, die den

Geist ihrer Seefahrt bewahrt, zusammen mit Ausschnitten

auf hügelige Landschaften, die wunderbar auf dem

Pferderücken zu erkunden sind, und auf ein ausgeklügeltes

Bistrosystem in dem man sich zum Mittagessen verlieren

kann: Moneglia. Es überrascht deswegen nicht, dass einige

behaupten der Name des Ortes käme vom lateinischen

„monilia“, Schmuckstück, also etwas Kostbares. Es liegt

im Golf von Tigullio und ist für sein angenehmes und

typisch mediterranisches Klima, die Lebensqualität

und den Tourismus bekannt, die es immer wieder in

den Chroniken erscheinen lässt. Ebenfalls bekannt ist

Moneglia auch für seine Gewässer, gleich denen in Riva

Trigoso und Sestri Levante, weniger schroffe Klippen, aber

ebenso faszinierend wie Deiva Marina, die erste Stadt vor

Moneglia die man antrifft, wenn man von La Spezia kommt.

Das Dorf von Moneglia befindet sich in einer kleinen

Bucht inmitten von Olivenhainen und Weinbergen, von

zwei Landspitzen eingeschlossen, der „Punta Moneglia“,

ein wild gewachsener, ausser den zugelassenen Wegen

unzugänglich gewordener Kiefernwald im Westen, und

der „Punta Rospo“ im Osten, wo sich bis hin in das Dorf

Lemeglio Wohngebiete befinden. Die Gemeinde umfasst

auch die Dörfer von Bracco, Casale, Camposoprano,

Comeglio, Crova, Facciu, Lemeglio, Littorno, San Lorenzo,

San Saturnino und Tessi.

Via aerea: L’aeroporto più vicino è il Cristoforo

Colombo di Genova, a poco meno di un ora del centro.

In alternativa potete atterrare al Giuseppe Verdi di

Parma, o al San Giusto di Pisa, rispettivamente a 91

e 94 km da Moneglia.

Via terra: L’autostrada di riferimento è la A12 Genova-

Livorno, direzione La Spezia, si esce a Sestri

Levante, proseguendo per la strada provinciale di

Riva Trigoso.

Il transito prosegue lungo le ex gallerie della ferrovia,

l’ imbocco del tunnel per l’uscita a Moneglia è

regolato da un semaforo a senso unico alternato,

verde ai minuti 15, 35 e 55 di ogni ora, per un tratto

di dieci chilometri. Dal casello di Deiva Marina per

Moneglia il conteggio si sposta ai minuti 0, 10, 20,

30, 40 e 50 di ogni ora. Da Sestri Si taglia per le

frazioni di Casale, Camposoprano a Facciu.

Moneglia ha una sua stazione ferroviaria sulla linea

Genova-La Spezia, collegata però solo dai regionali.

Se si viaggia con Intercity o altri, lo scalo è a Sestri

Levante, da cui poi vi collegherete con la vostra

destinazione.

Via mare: Il golfo dove si trova Moneglia è situato tra

Punta Portofino e Punta Mesco, a levante, Gli approdi

attrezzati più vicini a Moneglia sono a Chiavari, con

più di 500 posti barca, Lavagna e Sestri Levante, o

in alternativa il porticciolo di Levanto.

How to reach Moneglia

By air: the nearest airport is Cristoforo Colombo

in Genoa, less than an hour away. Alternatively

there is Giuseppe Verdi in Parma, or San Giusto

in Pisa, respectively 91 and 94 kms. from

Moneglia.

By land: the motorway to take is the A12 Genova-

Livorno, going towards La Spezia, exiting at

Sestri Levante, take the direction for Riva

Trigoso. The road goes through the ex-railway

tunnel, and on leaving the tunnel the road for

Moneglia has a traffic light permitting one way

traffic in alternating directions, changing to

green at 15, 35 and 55 of each hour, for about 10

kms. At the exit of Deiva Marina, the traffic light

changes at 0,10,20,30,40, and 50 of each hour.

Coming from Sestri the road crosses the

villages of Casale, Camposoprano and Facciù.

Moneglia has its railway station on the Genoa-

La Spezia line, with only regional trains

stopping; if one is travelling intercity, the stop

is Sestri Levante, from where you can reach

your destination.

By sea: The Gulf where Moneglia lies between

Punta Portofino and Punta Mesco to the

east, the nearest harbours are Chiavari, with

more than 500 moorings, Lavagna and Sestri

Levante, or the little harbour of Levanto.

Comment arriver

Par avion : L’aéroport le plus proche est

Cristoforo Colombo de Gênes qui est à une

heure environ de la ville. Une alternative,

l’aéroport Giuseppe Verdi de Parme, ou

celui de Galileo Galilei de Pise, tous deux à

90 kms environ de Moneglia.

Par route : la A12 Genova-Livorno est

l’autoroute qui mène à Moneglia en sortant

à la gare de péage de Sestri Levante. De là

suivre les indications pour Riva Trigoso puis

Moneglia. La route empreinte les anciens

tunnels de la voie de chemin de fer sur une

longueur environ de 10 kms. Ces galeries

sont étroites et à sens alterné, le parcours

est très suggestif et respecte le feu vert aux

minutes 15, 35 et 55 de chaque heure dans

le sens Sestri/Moneglia. Dans l’autre sens

Deiva Marina/Moneglia le feu vert est aux

minutes 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 et 50 de chaque

heure. De Sestri on coupe par les fractions

Casale, Camposoprano et Facciu.

Moneglia possède sa gare ferroviaire qui

se trouve sur la ligne Genova-La Spezia

qui cependant est desservie seulement

par les trains régionaux. Les autres trains

demandent un changement à Sestri Levante

ou à La Spezia selon le sens d’arrivée.

Par mer : Moneglia et le golfe qui l’accueille

se trouve entre Punta Mesco à Est et

Punta Portofino à Ouest. Une marina de

500 places se trouve à Chiavari ou alors

les marinas de Lavagna, Sestri Levante et

Levanto.

Mit dem Flugzeug: Der nächstgelegene Flughafen ist

Cristoforo Colombo in Genua, etwas weniger als eine Stunde

von der Innenstadt entfernt. Alternativ können Sie auf dem

Flughafen“Giuseppe Verdi“ in Parma oder „San Giusto“ in Pisa,

jeweils 91 und 94 km von Moneglia enfernt, landen.

Auf dem Landweg: Man nimmt die Autobahn A12 Genova-

Livorno in Richtung La Spezia, Ausfahrt Sestri Levante, und

folgt dann der Landstraße Richtung Riva Trigoso. Der Strasse

führt entlang des ehemaligen Eisenbahntunnels, die Einfahrt in

den Tunnel zur Ausfahrt nach Moneglia ist durch eine Einbahn-

Wechsel-Ampel geregelt, Grün bei 15, 35 und 55 Minuten jeder

Stunde über eine Strecke von zehn Kilometern. Von der Ausfahrt

Deiva Marina nach Moneglia ändert sich die Einstellung zu den

Minuten 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 und 50 jeder Stunde. Von Sestri fährt man

Richtung Casale, Camposoprano nach Facciu. Moneglia verfügt

über einen eigenen Bahnhof für die Linien Genua-La Spezia,

verbunden jedoch nur von regionalen Zügen. Wenn man mit dem

Intercity oder anderen Zügen anreist muss man in Sestri Levante

in einen Regionalzug umsteigen, um zum Ziel zu gelangen.

Mit dem Schiff: Der Golf in dem sich Moneglia befindet, liegt im

Osten zwischen Punta Moneglia Portofino und Punta Mesco. Die

an Moneglia nächstgelegenen Landungsstege sind in Chiavari,

mit mehr als 500 Liegeplätzen, in Lavagna und Sestri Levante

oder alternativ im Hafen von Levanto.

Come spostarsi

Una delle particolarità di Moneglia sta nella

posizione felice che occupa nel perfetto centro

dei percorsi che ad est conducono alle Cinque

Terre, il Golfo dei Poeti e le sfuggenti gallerie della

ex ferrovia, lungo Deiva, e ad ovest a Portofino,

Rapallo e Santa Margherita.

Lo spazio raccolto del paese non fornisce molti

luoghi in cui perdersi: partendo dai negozi, i bar

e le caffetterie con il loro bravo chioschetto, o,

semplicemente, dai portici tra le case, fatto qualche

metro si arriva alle spiagge. Tutte le bellezze sopra

descritte sono facilmente raggiungibili in treno,

mezzo di trasporto che vi consigliamo caldamente se

la vacanza non comprende molte tappe specifiche

in giro per il Levante. L’automobile è scomoda

per circolare in centro, le aree a pagamento sono

più numerose dei parcheggi liberi, e non a caso,

considerato che Moneglia è comunque, seppur

piccolo, un centro balneare.

L’ATP è l’esercizio che si occupa dei trasporti locali,

con più di quaranta linee di pullman e autobus che

collegano Moneglia alle frazioni, o, nel periodo

estivo, fornendo bus navetta da e per i campeggi di

Deiva, Sestri e le spiagge di quest’ultima. L’ideale

sarebbe portarsi la bicicletta, o a prezzi modici,

affittare un motorino da un rent-a-car a Sestri

Levante. Sempre nel periodo estivo, è possibile

usufruire ulteriormente di un servizio giornaliero di

traghetti, che batte tutta la costa fino alle Cinque

Terre. In spiaggia, è messo a disposizione anche un

diving center per praticare immersioni.

How to move about

A particular feature of Moneglia is its central

position on the coast between the gulf of the

Poets and the Cinque Terre to the east, and

Rapallo, Santa Margherita and Portofino to the

west. There is little space in the town to explore

but there are the shops, bars and cafés, with

their kiosks, or one can simply pass through

the porticos between the houses, and after a

few meters one arrives at the beach. Everything

described above can be reached easily by train,

we highly recommend this type of transport,

if you don't have to stop too many times during

your holiday. The car is inconvenient in the town

centre, with little chance of free parking, because

Moneglia, although small, is a popular bathing

resort.

The ATP is the company which provides local

transport, with more than 40 bus routes that

connect Moneglia with outlying districts. In the

summer there are shuttle buses connecting the

campsites of Deiva and Sestri with the beaches of

Sestri. The best thing would be to bring a bicycle,

or at low price, rent a scooter at Sestri Levante.

Also in the summer it is always possible to use

the daily ferry service, which operates all along

the coast as far as the Cinque Terre. On the beach

there is also a diving centre for scuba diving

enthusiasts.

Une des particularités de Moneglia est sa position centrale

entre Est et Ouest. Vers Est on trouve les Cinque Terre, le

Golfe des Poètes et les suggestives galeries de l'ancienne

voie ferrée le long de Deiva. À Ouest se trouve Sestri

Levante, Portofino, Rapallo et Santa Margherita.

Moneglia est petite et recueillie avec ses magasins, ses bars,

ses cafés, son kiosque, les porches entre les maisons et sa

plage.

Moneglia est facilement accessible en train surtout si le

séjour ne comporte que cette étape.

La voiture reste un moyen de locomotion difficile à utiliser,

surtout en été à cause du manque de parkings libres

puisque les stationnements sont payants et insuffisants.

Moneglia, quoique petite, est une station balnéaire très

populaire.

Le service de transport « ATP » met à disposition sur

plus de quarante lignes des bus qui relient Moneglia aux

différentes fractions.

Durant la haute saison, un service supplémentaire de bus

navette dessert les campings et plages de Deiva et Sestri.

L'idéal serait de se déplacer en vélo ou bien de louer un

scooter auprès des rent-a-car de Sestri Levante.

Toujours durant la haute saison il y un service maritime

journalier qui dessert toute la côte jusqu'aux Cinque Terre.

Les plages sont équipées de centres « diving » pour ceux

qui désirent pratiquer la plongée.

Eine der Besonderheiten von Moneglia ist, dass es sich in einer wundervollen

und perfekten Lage befindet, inmitten des Zentrums der Wanderwege die im

Osten in die Cinque Terre, den Golf der Poeten und in die schwer erfassbaren

Galerien der ehemaligen Eisenbahn entlang Deiva führen, und im Westen

nach Sestri Levante, Portofino, Rapallo und Santa Margherita.

Zumal der Platz, den der Ort einnimmt, nicht viel Möglichkeiten lässt, sich

zu verlieren: von den Geschäften, Bars und Cafés ausgehend, oder einfach

von den Haustüren, sind es nur ein paar Meter bis zu den Stränden. Alle

oben beschriebenen Schönheiten sind bequem mit dem Zug zu erreichen,

ein Transportmittel das wir sehr empfehlen wenn der Urlaub nicht viele

spezifische Orte der Küste im Osten beinhalten soll. Sich mit dem Auto

in der Innenstadt zu bewegen ist umständlich, es gibt weniger freie als zu

bezahlende Parkplätze und, nicht umsonst, ist Moneglia, auch wenn es sehr

klein ist, als ein sehr beliebter Badeort bekannt.

Die Transportfirma ATP kümmert sich mit mehr als vierzig Buslinien und

Bussen die Moneglia mit den Fraktionen verbinden, um den lokalen Verkehr.

Im Sommer stellen sie Shuttle-Busse von und zu den Campingplätzen Deiva,

Sestri und zu den dazugehörigen Stränden zu Verfügung. Ideal wäre es, ein

Fahrrad mitzubringen, oder einen Motorroller bei einer Autovermietung

in Sestri Levante zu erschwinglichen Preisen zu mieten. Im Sommer ist es

ebenfalls möglich, den Service der täglichen Bootsausflugsboote in Anspruch

zu nehmen, die die ganze Küste der Cinque Terre bedient. Am Strand steht

ebenfalls ein Tauchzentrum für Tauchgänge zur Verfügung.

Un po’ di storia

Dato per assodato che il popolo più antico di cui si

ha notizie, sulla costa, è quello dei Liguri, la tribù che

si riteneva stanziata nel territorio tra Portofino e punta

Mesco si fa risalire invece a quella dei Tigullii, gente che,

in virtù delle ristrettezze del luogo, conduceva una vita

seminomade, arroccata sulla sommità delle colline e dedita

più alla raccolta o alla caccia che alla pesca, sfruttata solo

in seguito.

In epoca romana, i Romani faticarono non poco ad

assoggettarli, spinti dal desiderio di ottenere un percorso

nella posizione strategica rappresentata dal valico tra mare

e monti, e che sarebbe diventato ben presto la ormai nota

Via Aurelia.

La frazione monegliese di Lemeglio viene per altro

menzionata in una carta dell’Impero, la “tabula alimentaria”,

un reperto di importanza storica non indifferente.

Nel corso del VII secolo, durante la dominazione

longobarda, si favorì la diffusione del monachesimo,

con i monaci di Bobbio che, arrivati a dorso di mulo,

svilupparono l’economia del territorio con aziende agricole e

celle monastiche fino alle valli d’Aveto, Sturla e Fontanabuona.

Carlo Magno, con il diploma imperiale del 774, donò il

territorio ai monaci colombani, a cui si deve l’abbazia di San

Colombano di Bobbio fondata dal santo nel 614; assieme

agli altri possedimenti liguri destinati al voto, è ancora una

volta grazie ai monaci che si mantiene il primo ciclo vitale di

commerci, assieme all’agricoltura intensiva a terrazze, con i

successivi collegamenti verso la pianura Padana.

Nel Medioevo, come per molti paesi liguri, la sorte di Moneglia

si rovescia con l’invasione dei Saraceni, che saccheggiarono

e depredarono in tutta libertà sia il piccolo abitato che i paesi

vicini di Deiva e Riva Trigoso. Una leggenda locale vuole che a

Lemeglio una violenta incursione abbia condotto all’uccisione

di tutti gli originali abitanti del luogo, assieme al rapimento di

oltre venti fanciulle.

Moneglia, fino al 1153, è feudo dei conti Fieschi di Lavagna

e da loro viene amministrato, passando poi alla Repubblica di

Genova, a cui dà prova della sua lealtà partecipando con una

flotta delle proprie navi alla celebre Battaglia della

Meloria, e a quella di Porto Pisano contro la rivale,

per l’appunto Pisa, per le rotte commerciali.

In virtù dei fatti, nel 1549 i monegliesi chiedono al

senato di Genova la costruzione di una torre difensiva,

e la ottengono con l’edificazione della fortezza di

Villafranca che, negli anni dal 1936 al 1939, viene

riadattata ad uso abitativo e viene persa del tutto

nel giugno del 1944, a causa dei bombardamenti,

restaurata solo di recente assieme al parco antistante.

Nel 1637 diventa podesteria di Levanto che si eleva a

capitanato della repubblica, un secolo più tardi passa

a Napoleone.

Dal 1815 Moneglia cambia ancora giurisdizione,

prima sotto il Regno di Sardegna e successivamente

trovando in quella del Regno d’Italia, finalmente e dal

1861, la sua ultima ragione di appartenenza. Eccoci

alla seconda guerra mondiale.

Moneglia viene coinvolta dai bombardamenti, ricordati

nelle date del 14 giugno, 29 giugno e 1º novembre

1944, atti a tagliare i rifornimenti consentiti dalla

tratta del treno, sulla linea Genova-La Spezia.

Ma sarà nelle gallerie ferroviarie, quelle che oggi

vengono percorse in senso alterno dalle macchine,

che la popolazione si salverà, trovando riparo e

riprendendo la vita di ogni giorno fino al rivalutarsi

delle coste nel successivo periodo di ripresa, con un

picco negli anni sessanta, assurta a via d’accesso

privilegiata alle capitali balneari di Tigullio e Cinque

Terre.

A little history

It is certain that the most ancient costal tribe was the

“Liguri”, the tribe which inhabited the coast between

Punta Mesco and Portofino was the “Tigullii”. These

people lived a seminomadic life on account of the lack of

open space, and, from the tops of the hills, were hunter

gatherers, rather than fishermen, which they became

later. The Romans had great trouble dominating them.

The Roman army needed a strategic road crossing

the lowland between the hills and the coast, which

eventually became the famous Via Aurelia. The district

of Lemeglio, near Moneglia, is found on a Roman map,

the “tabula alimentaria”, an important historical

reference.

In the course of the 7th century, during the Longobard

domination, the phenomenon of monasticism was

spreading. The monks of Bobbio, having arrived on their

mules, developed the economy of the territory, with

farms and monastic settlements as far as the valleys of

Aveto, Sturla and Fontanabuona.

Charlemagne, with the imperial edict of 774, gifted the

territory to the Colomban monks, to whom we owe the

abbey of Saint Colombano of Bobbio, founded by the

saint in 614. Together with other holdings in Liguria

dedicated to the church, we have again to thank the

monks for maintaining the first commercial activities,

and also their intensive agriculture on terraced fields,

and the connections they established with the northern

plains.

In the mediaeval age, as for many costal places, the

fate of Moneglia was sealed by the Saracen invasions,

who sacked and raided at will the small town and other

A local legend tells that at Lemeglio an attack brought

about the death of all the men of the town and the

abduction of more than 20 maidens.

Until 1153, Moneglia was a feud of the counts Fieschi of

Lavagna, and was administered by them. It passed then

to the Republic of Genoa, for whom it proved its loyalty by

participating with a fleet of its own ships, in the famous

battle of Meloria, and in the battle of Porto Pisano,

against Genoa’s great rival, Pisa, for trade routes. On

account of these events, in 1549 the people of Moneglia

asked the senate of Genoa for the construction of a

defensive tower, and they obtained the construction of

the fortress of Villafranca. Between 1936 and 1939 this

was converted into a dwelling house, but was completely

lost in June 1944 during bombardments, to be restored

recently with the gardens in front. In 1637 Moneglia

became a property of Levanto which gained power in the

Republic of Genoa, then passed to Napoleon a century

later. After 1815 Moneglia again changed hands, going

to the Kingdom of Sardinia, and after to the kingdom

of Italy in 1861, its last owner. We arrive at the second

world war. Moneglia was bombarded on 14th June, 29th

June and 1st November 1944, attacks aimed at cutting

the supply lines provided by the railway from Genoa to

La Spezia. Inside the railway tunnels, which today form

the road, the population, found shelter and continued to

live their daily lives until better times, the re-evaluation

of the coast culminated in the 60s, when the bathing

places of Tigullio and the Cinque Terre were most

popular.

Les populations plus anciennes des lieux sont les «

Liguri ».

Toutefois la peuplade des Tigullii occupait le

territoire entre Portofino et Punta Mesco. Les gens

de cette tribu, compte tenu du territoire escarpé,

conduisaient une vie semi-nomade entre les monts

et la mer entre la chasse et la récolte. Seulement

plus tard la pêche sera exploitée. Les Romains

durant leur empire furent attirés par la position

stratégique entre col, mer et montagne.

Cette antique voie deviendra plus tard dans le

temps la indiscutable « Via Aurelia ». Les romains

fatiguèrent à soumettre les autochtones.

La fraction « Lemeglio » est d'ailleurs mentionnée

comme «tabula Alimentaria » sur une carte de

l’époque Empire ce qui apporte un élément

historique important.

Au cours du VII siècle, sous la domination lombarde,

la propagation du monachisme fut favorisée grâce

aux moines de Bobbio qui arrivèrent avec leurs

mulets.

Ils développèrent sur les vallées Aveto, Sturla et

Fontanabuona l'économie locale en créant des

entreprises agricoles et monastiques.

Charlemagne, roi des Lombards en 774, donna le

territoire aux moines Colombans, dont nous leur

devons l'abbaye San Colombano de Bobbio qui fut

fondée en 614.

Ce sera avec les habitants des lieux prétendus

au vote que les moines organiseront la vie

commerciale, l’agriculture intensive sur les champs

en terrasses, et plus tard les connexions avec la

vallée du Pô seront créées.

Au Moyen Age, à Moneglia, à Deiva et à Riva

Trigoso comme pour beaucoup d’autres localités

de la Ligure, les invasions des Sarrasins ravageront

et pilleront tous les biens accumulés.

Une légende locale raconte que la fraction Lemeglio

subit une violente incursion durant laquelle tous

les habitants du village périrent et plus d’une

vingtaine de jeunes filles furent enlevées.

Moneglia jusqu'à 1153 est fief des comtes Fieschi

de Lavagna et de leur administration.

Puis sous la République de Gênes il y aura un fort

conflit entre la république de Pise, sa rivale, qui,

avec sa flotte participera aux célèbres batailles

Meloria et Porto Pisano pour défendre les routes

commerciales.

En vertu des faits, en 1549 Moneglia demande

au Sénat de Gênes une tour de défense et la

construction de la forteresse Villafranca fut

accordée.

Durant les années 1936-1939 la tour prendra

un usage résidentiel et sera détruite par les

bombardements en Juin 1944. Récemment la tour

a été restaurée avec son parc autour.

En 1637, Moneglia devient le Podesta de Levanto

qui à son tour devient capitaine de la république.

Un siècle plus tard la commune est sous

domination Napoléonienne. En 1815 Moneglia

change de nouveau et sera sous les compétences

du royaume de Sardaigne et plus tard en 1861 sous le

royaume d'Italie. Pendant la seconde guerre mondiale,

Moneglia est impliqué dans les bombardements et

subira de fortes attaques sur la voie de chemin de

fer les 14 et 29 Juin et le 1er Novembre 1944 visés à

interrompre les approvisionnements en transit sur la

ligne Gênes-La Spezia.

Cependant ce sera grâce aux tunnels de la voie ferrée,

qui aujourd’hui sont ouverts au réseau routier, que la

population sera sauvée trouvant en ces galeries un abri

sûr. Plus tard, mais surtout autour des années soixante

les côtes de la région seront réévaluées jusqu’au

atteindre le rang de capitale balnéaire du Tigullio et

des Cinque Terre.

Geschichte

In Anbetracht der Tatsache, dass die Ligurer als ältestes

Volk der Küste bekannt ist, ist der Stamm, der in dem

Gebiet zwischen Portofino und Punta Mesco stationiert

geglaubt wurde, der der Tigullii, Leute, die aufgrund

von der Enge des Ortes, auf den Hügeln thronend, ein

Nomadenleben führten und sich eher der Ernte oder

der Jagd widmeten als der Fischerei, diese wurde erst

zu späteren Zeiten ausgeübt. In der Römerzeit hatten es

die Römer sehr schwer, diese zu unterdrücken, getrieben

vom Wunsch einen Weg in der strategischen Position

zwischen Bergen und Meer zu erhalten, der dann bald

zur inzwischen bekannten Via Aurelia wurde. Die

Fraktion Lemeglio von Moneglia wird zudem in einem

Papier des Reichs als der "tabula alimentaria“ erwähnt,

ein nicht unwichtiges historisches Artefakt.

Während des siebten Jahrhunderts, während der

lombardischen Herrschaft, begünstigte man die

Ausbreitung des Mönchtums durch die Bobbio Mönche.

Diese kamen auf dem Rücken von Maultieren,

entwickelten die lokale Wirtschaft mit Landwirtschaft

und Mönchszellen bis hin zu den Tälern von Aveto,

Sturla und Fontanabuona. Mit dem kaiserlichen

Diplom von 774 gab Karl der Große das Gebiet den

„Colombaner“- Mönchen, denen wir die Abtei von

San Colombano von Bobbio verdanken, 614 durch

den Heiligen gegründet, zusammen mit den anderen

ligurischen, den Gebeten gewidmeten Besitztümern;

und, noch einmal dank der Mönche, erhält man den

ersten wirtschaftlichen Lebenszyklus, zusammen mit

intensivem landwirtschaftlichen Terrassenanbau und

Moneglia ist bis 1153 ein Lehen der Grafen Fieschi von Lavagna und wird ebenfalls

von ihnen verwaltet, bis es dann in die Republik Genua übergeht. Als Beweis für seine

Treue nimmt es mit einer Flotte ihrer Schiffe bei der berühmten Schlacht von Meloria

teil, und ebenfalls, um Handelsrouten zu gewinnen, an der von Porto Pisano gegen

den Rivalen, eben genau Pisa.

Aufgrund der Tatsachen fragen die Monegliesi 1549 den Senat von Genua um

Erlaubnis, einen Wehrturm zu bauen und erhalten ihn mit dem Bau der Festung von

Villafranca. Dieser wird in den Jahren 1936-1939 für Wohnzwecke umgebaut und

wird dann im Juni 1944 durch die starken Bombardierungen vollkommen verloren.

Erst vor kurzem wurde er, zusammen mit dem gegenüberliegenden Park, wieder

renoviert.

Im Jahre 1637 gehört es zu der Gemeinde von Levanto und steigt führend in die Republik

auf, ein Jahrhundert später geht es zu Napoleon über. Ab 1815 ändert sich Moneglias

Zuständigkeitsgebiet wieder, es fällt zunächst unter das Königreich Sardiniens und

findet dann schließlich im Jahr 1861 endlich seine letzte Zugehörigkeit im Königreich

Italien. Im zweiten Weltkrieg wird Moneglia bombardiert, man erinnert sich an

den 14. Juni, 29. Juni und den 1. November 1944, um die Warenzufuhr die durch die

Zugstrecken auf der Linie Genua-La Spezia möglich waren, zu unterbrechen.

Aber die Bevölkerung wird zu ihrer Rettung in den Eisenbahntunneln Zuflucht finden,

diejenigen, die heute im Wechselverkehr von Autos befahrbar sind, und ab hier wird

das alltägliche Leben langsam wieder aufgenommen, bis hin zur Aufwertung der Küste

in der darauffolgenden Zeit des Aufschwungs, mit Spitzenwerten in den sechziger

Jahren, mit privilegiertem Zugang zu den wichtigsten Badeanlagen des Tigullios und

den Cinque Terre.

Tra Punta Moneglia e Punta Rospo, le spiagge si perdono

nell’abbraccio di scogliere direttamente allungate sul

mare, ammorbidite dai profili delle pinete odorose e della

macchia mediterranea. A Punta Manara, tra le pareti

verticali dove risuona la risacca, sono numerose le grotte

e le calette, l’Orto dei Preti, la Valletta, La Ruspea.

In via di mattinate tranquille, a Moneglia l’accesso alle

spiagge è coperto da sottopassi, la strada corre in alto e

resta alle spalle, non disturba assolutamente la siesta. La

sabbia fine, l’ottima esposizione al sole, il fondale tranquillo

e le scogliere che la riparano dai venti, ne fanno un vero e

proprio gioiello anche per le famiglie coi bambini.

Per i più intrepidi c’è un pezzo di spiaggia di pietrisco dopo

la prima galleria proveniente da Deiva, sarà necessario

parcheggiare la macchina o arrivarci costeggiando la

statale, a piedi o in bici. Se si ha cuore di fare un tratto

accidentato in più, si arriva alla meta preferita dei giovani

e meno giovani di Moneglia, messi a rosolare sugli scogli

o intenti a sfidarsi in gare di tuffi.

All’interno del territorio sono presenti ben due parchi

naturali: il Regionale di Portofino e quello della Val

d’Aveto. Il Parco Naturale Regionale di Portofino, istituito

nel 1935, si estende su una superficie totale di 18 km² ,

comprendendo fasce coltivate a vigneti e a oliveti, sentieri

immersi nel verde brillante dei pini e delle acacie, in un

folto sottobosco che non di rado, lungo le asperità del

mare, si colora di corbezzoli. I panorami, qui, quando si

hanno gli alberi alle spalle e la veduta sul mare aperto

liscio come una tavola, sono incomparabili.

Il Parco Naturale Regionale dell’Aveto viene considerato

parco naturale dal 1995: non meno selvaggio del cugino,

dominato dalle maggiori cime dell’Appennino ligure,

oscillando spesso tra i 1600 e 1800 metri di altitudine,

prospetta di tutelare in particolare le tre valli del territorio, la

Val d’Aveto, la più in quota, la Val Sturla coi suoi pascoli e le

presenza dei pascoli e delle coltivazioni a terrazza verso est

e le Cinque Terre.

Nel Tigullio sono stanziali l’aquila reale, vero vanto dei parchi,

e in diverse località alpine persino il lupo, tornato a riprodursi

nei boschi fronzuti di lecci e castagni. Considerevole è la

presenza di altri rapaci quali l’Astore, il Gheppio, il Biancone

e la Poiana. Con più di sessanta specie nidificanti, gli

appassionati di bird watching avranno pane per i loro denti.

Between Punta Moneglia and Punta Rospo, the beaches are separated by

stretches of rock going right down to the sea, softened by scented pines

and Mediterranean undergrowth. At Punta Manara along the vertical

cliffs, where the backwash rumbles, there are numerous inlets and caves,

During quiet mornings, pedestrian tunnels lead to the beaches, the road

runs above and remains behind and doesn’t disturb the siesta. The fine

sand, the sun, the quiet seabed, and the rocks which give shelter from

the wind, make Moneglia a perfect place for families with children. For

bolder bathers there is a shingle beach after the first tunnel coming from

Devia Marina where it is necessary to park somewhere else, and get there

walking along the side of the road, or by bike. If you feel like going a bit

further on uneven ground, you can reach the favourite spot of the young

people( and not so young) of Moneglia, and find them sunbathing and

diving from the rocks.

Inland there are two protected areas: the Regional Park of Porto Fino,

and that of Val d’Aveto. The former, established in 1935 covers an area of

18sq.kms. It includes parts cultivated with vineyards and olive groves;

foot-paths immersed in the brilliant green of the pines and acacias, in

thick undergrowth by the rocky coast, are coloured with the fruit of the

strawberry tree. The views from here of the open sea, flat as a table top,

are incomparable.

The regional nature reserve of Aveto has existed since 1995, and is as

wild as its sister the park of Portofino, overlooked by

the major peaks of the Ligurian Appenines. These are

between 1,600 and 1,800 meters, and have mountain

resorts, ideal for sporting enthusiasts. The park is

inland from Tigullio, and particularly covers the 3

valleys of the area: Aveto – the highest, Sturla with its

pastures, and Val Graveglia with its rural countryside,

caves and mines. It has the only active mine in the area,

Gambatesa, one of the richest manganese mines in

Europe. The forest of Lame and the lake represent a rich

endemic area of biodiversity, with a wealth of geological

and faunistic content. Microclimates are perceptible,

despite the uniformity of altitude, and include the

pastures and the cultivated terraced fields east towards

the Cinque Terre.

In Tigulio there are golden eagles, the pride of the parks,

and in some higher parts there are wolves which breed

in the holm oak and chestnut woods. There are many

other birds of prey such as the goshawk, the kestrel, the

short- toed eagle and the buzzard. With more than 60

breeding species, enthusiastic bird-watchers will have

plenty to do.

Entre Punta Moneglia et Punta Rospo, les

plages se perdent dans les bras des rochers

étendus sur la mer et sont adoucies par les

profils des forêts de pins odorantes et le maquis

méditerranéen. A Punta Manara, au pied des

parois qui surplombent la mer et où résonne le

reflux des vagues beaucoup de grottes et criques

se nichent, telles que les renommées : l'Orto

dei Preti, La Valette, La Ruspea. A Moneglia,

dans le calme du petit matin, les sous-passages

accèdent aux plages. Le sable fin, l'excellente

exposition au soleil, les eaux paisibles et les récifs

qui la protègent des vents font de Moneglia un

véritable havre de paix pour familles et enfants. La

route qui coure au-dessus des sous-passages et

en retrait ne perturbe pas la tranquillité.

Pour les plus aventureux, il y a une grève de

galets qui se trouve après le premier tunnel en

venant de Deiva. Pour accéder à cette plage il

est nécessaire de stationner la voiture le long de

la route départementale et y descendre à pied ou

mieux encore la rejoindre à vélo. Pour les plus

courageux encore il y a une destination à pic sur

la mer que l’on peut rejoindre seulement à pied et

de là on peut y faire de magnifiques plongeons.

Le territoire comprend deux Parcs Nationaux

: le Parc régional de Portofino et celui de la

vallée d'Aveto. Le premier créé en 1935, couvre

une superficie totale de 18 km² et comprend

Le second Parc Natural Régional d’Aveto est

considéré comme tel depuis 1995. Ce Parc est

sauvage comme le précédent et les plus hauts

sommets (1600mt et 1800mt) des Apennins de la

Ligurie le dominent. Des établissements sportifs

y sont installés pour ceux qui aiment les altitudes.

Situé dans l'arrière-pays du Tigullio, son but

est de protéger en particulier les trois vallées

qui tapissent le territoire, la vallée d'Aveto qui

est la plus haute en altitude, la vallée Sturla

avec ses pâturages et la Vallée Graveglia et ses

paysages ruraux, ses carrières dont la minière

Gambatesa, la seule aujourd’hui en activité.

Elle représente l'un des plus riches gisements

de manganèse d’Europe. Le lac et la forêt des

Lames représentent le cœur de la biodiversité

avec son riche patrimoine géologique, avec sa

faune et ses paysages. Les microclimats sont

perceptibles en dépit des apparentes altitudes

lesquelles favorisent des pâturages ou des

cultures en terrasses vers les Cinque Terre. Le

Tigullio est le refuge d’aigles réales qui sont la

fierté des parcs. En différentes localités alpines

la présence de loups et leur reproduction ont été

repérées. Il convient de noter l’existence d'autres

rapaces tels que le faucon, le faucon crécerelle,

le circaète et la buse. Plus de soixante espèces

sont répertoriées pour satisfaire les amateurs du

bird watching.

Strände in der Umarmung der Meeresklippen die direkt aufs

Meer führen, aufgelockert durch duftende Pinien und Wälder

des Mittelmeerraums. In Punta Manara, zwischen den steilen

Felswänden wo die Brandung tönt, gibt es viele Höhlen und

Buchten, die „Orto dei Preti“, „Valletta“, „La Ruspea“.

Moneglias Zugänge zu den Stränden sind mit Unterführungen

bedeckt, die Straße die sich oberhalb und im Hintergrund

befindet, stört die Siesta absolut nicht. Der feine Sand, die

ausgezeichnete Exposition der Sonne, die ruhigen Gewässer und

die Riffe, die sie vor dem Wind schützen, machen es zu einem

echten Juwel, auch für Familien mit Kindern.

Für Abenteurer gibt es ein Stück Kiesstrand gleich nach dem

ersten Tunnel von Deiva, man muss das Auto parken oder neben

der Bundesstraße zu Fuß oder mit dem Fahrrad kommen. Wenn

man Lust auf ein weiteres Stück holprige Strecke hat, kommt

man an das Lieblingsziel von Jung und Alt in Moneglia, die

sich hier auf den Felsen bräunen oder an Tauchwettbewerben

teilnehmen.

Im Inneren gibt es zwei Nationalparks : der Regionalpark

Portofino und das Val d'Aveto. Der regionale Naturpark von

Portofino, im Jahre 1935 gegründet, erstreckt sich über eine

Gesamtfläche von 18 km², darunter mit Weinbergen und

Olivenhainen bedeckte Flächen, in den von Pinien und Akazien

in hellem grün getauchte Wege, in einem dichten Gestrüpp,

dessen Erdbeerbaumblüten sich oft entlang der Rauheit des

Meeres färben. Die Aussicht von hier, wenn Sie die Bäume hinter

sich und die Aussicht auf das offene und glatte Meer haben, ist

unvergleichlich.

Der regionale Naturpark von Aveto wird seit 1995 als Naturpark

betrachtet: nicht weniger wild als sein Vetter, dominiert von den

großen Gipfeln des Ligurischen Apennin, oft zwischen 1600 und

1800 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel, ist er auch Heimat von

Sportanlagen, ideal für die, die Berge lieben. Im Hinterland von

Tigullio, verspricht er insbesondere die drei Täler des Gebiets zu

schützen, das am höchsten gelegene Val d'Aveto, das Val Sturla

mit seinen Wiesen und Weiden, und das Val Graveglia, mit

und vor allem Landschaft: die Mikroklimate sind trotz der

wenig verschiedenen Höhen gut wahrnehmbar, auch aufgrund

der vorhandenen Weiden und Terrassenanbauten in Richtung

Osten und den Cinque Terre.

In Tigullio sind Adler sesshaft, der wirkliche Stolz der Parks,

und in verschiedenen Teilen der Apenninen sogar Wölfe,

die wieder in die von Eichen und Kastanien grünen Wälder

zurückgekehrt sind, um sich fortzupflanzen. Bemerkenswert

ist die Anwesenheit anderer Raubvögel wie der Habicht, der

Turmfalke, der Schlangenadler und der Bussard. Mit mehr als

sechzig Arten sind die Vogelbeobachter hier im siebten Himmel.

La cucina di Moneglia

I primi piatti di Moneglia sono legati alla tradizione genovese, il cui re

indiscusso resta il pesto. Salsa a base di pinoli, basilico, olio “buono” e

formaggio acidulo, prescinseua sulle prime e parmigiano poi, si accosta a

tutta la pasta corta fatta a mano, in particolare con le trofie, tipiche della zona.

Rimanendo in tema di lavorazioni a mano, indimenticabili i “pansotti”, ravioloni

stirati grossolanamente con ripieno di borragine ed erbette selvatiche,

accompagnati con burro o salsa di noci. Ravioli più discreti, ripieni di carne

magra o verdure, linguine e trenette allo scoglio, spaghettate degne di una

portata regale, impallidiscono di fronte all’abuso di farinata, un companatico

di farina di ceci cotto nel forno a legna e servito con affettati e formaggio

fresco, oppure, nella versione bollita per almeno un’ora, da mangiare fredda,

chiamata panissa. Di origine incerta i cuculli, piccoli bocconi di frittelle tonde

impastate anch’esse con borragine ed erbette, ideali come aperitivo e da

spizzicare in compagnia.

I secondi di Moneglia si basano su piatti semplici, divisi tra una ricca gamma

di mare ed una umile da monti. Dal pesce azzurro alle torte di verdure, molto

di ciò che veniva ritenuto superfluo, o inadatto ad una cucina più ricca, rimane

oggi in tavola. Gli scarti del pescato finivano nelle fritture, una semplice zuppa

fredda di pane diventava la caponada, trippe, tranci di baccalà e stoccafisso

e d’Aveto, offrendo in diversi punti freschi,

dislocati sulle strada, persino confetture di

frutta, funghi e carciofi sott’olio, miele e latte

fresco munto in giornata. Moneglia vanta una

produzione di olio d’oliva non indifferente.

L’extravergine ottenuto dai frantoi è a

denominazione di origine protetta “Riviera di

Levante”, custodito nei filari e nelle cantine di

Razzola, Pignola e Lavagnina.

The first courses of Moneglia are close to the Genoese

tradition, the king of which is pesto. This is a sauce made

from pinenuts, basil, olive oil and sour cheese added first, and

later parmesan cheese. It is eaten with homemade pasta, in

particular trofie, a local speciality. Also homemade pansotti

are very good, a sort of large ravioli stuffed with borrage and

wild herbs served with butter or walnut sauce. Smaller ravioli,

stuffed with lean meat or vegetables, linguine and trenette

with sea food sauce, regal servings of spaghetti, compete with

farinata, pancakes of chick-pea flour baked in a wood oven

and served with cold cuts and fresh cheese, or boiled for at

least an hour, eaten cold, called panissa. Of uncertain origin,

cuculli, small round fritters, made with borrage and herbs,

are ideal as an aperitif and to be eaten in company.

The second courses of Moneglia are based on simple dishes,

divided between the richer part from the sea, and the humble

The unwanted parts of fish are fried, a simple cold soup

of bread becomes a caponada; tripe, salted codfish and

stockfish are now popular in restaurants which serve

them on a plate of polenta, or cooked in sauce with olives

and pinenuts.

The second courses of meat are preferred in the valleys,

with a particular preference for wild boar, used also to

make meat sauce and salami, and also for the soft sheep

milk cheeses like ricotta, or cows’milk cheeses like

stracchino and robiola. It is this very locally produced

food that gives us the best of the natural products of Val

Graveglia and d’Aveto, and in different places along the

roads one can buy jams, mushrooms and artichokes in

oil, honey and very fresh milk. Moneglia boasts of its

production of good quality olive oil, extra virgin from

the mills: DOP Riviere di Levante, is kept in the cellars

of Razzola, Pignola and Lavagnina.

Les “premiers plats” sont liés à la tradition

génoise dont le « pesto » qui est le prince

des tables, sauce à base de feuilles de basilic,

de pignons, de la bonne huile d’olives et de

Parfois cette pâte est bouillie pendant une heure,

refroidie, aplatie, coupée en dés qui seront servis

froids, cette préparation s’appelle la « panissa ». Les

“cuculli” dont les origines sont inconnues, il s’agit de

petites gougères rondes faites de bourache et des

herbes des champs, idéales à déguster en apéritif et

en compagnie.

Les plats principaux de Moneglia sont simples et

composés des produits de la mer ou de la terre qui

vont du poisson bleu aux tartes de légumes peu

convoités autrefois mais qui aujourd’hui sont très

appréciés. Les plats pauvres d’antan sont devenus

recherchés. Par exemples les écarts de poisson qui

donnent une excellente friture ou encore une simple

salade froide à base de pain rassis ramolli est devenu

la fameuse “caponada”. Les tripes, les tranches de

merlu fraiches ou salées sont aujourd’hui des plats

recherchés surtout lorsqu’ils sont servis avec la

“polenta” farine de maïs jaune ou tout simplement

à l’étuvée ou encore en sauce tomates avec olives et

pignons. Les plats de résistance à base de viande sont

davantage appréciés dans les vallées. Le gibier, le

D ie Küche Moneglias

Moneglias erste Gänge beziehen sich auf die Genuesischen Traditionen

deren unbestrittener König das Pesto bleibt. Es handelt sich hier um

eine Sauce aus Pinienkernen, Basilikum, „gutem" Olivenöl und anfangs

Sauerkäse „prescinseua“, später dann Parmesan, diese Sauce wird mit

kurzen handgemachten Nudeln serviert, insbesondere mit Trofie, typisch

für die Gegend. Beim Thema Handgemachten bleibend, sollte man die

unvergesslichen "Pansotti", rustikale mit Borretsch und wilden Kräutern

gefüllte Ravioli, mit Butter oder Nuss-Sauce serviert, erwähnen. Einfachere,

mit magerem Fleisch oder Gemüse gefüllte Ravioli, Linguine und Trenette

mit Meeresfrüchten, Spaghetti die einem königlichen Mahl Stand halten

können, verblassen im Vergleich zur Farinata, ein Teig aus Kichererbsen

Mehl der im Holzofen in kleinen runden Formen gebacken wird und mit

Aufschnitt und Frischkäse serviert wird, man kann diese auch in der

gekochten Version essen, als Panissa, in dieser Version wird die Mischung

mindestens für eine Stunde gekocht und kalt gegessen. Von ungewisser

Herkunft sind die „Cuculli“, kleine frittierte mit gemischten Kräutern

und Borretsch gefüllte Teighappen, ideal um einen Aperitif zu begleiten

und in Gesellschaft zu knabbern. Die Hauptgänge Moneglias basieren auf

The inn faces a small atmospheric square in the ancient and quiet

center of Moneglia. Outside are placed elegant wrought-iron tables,

ideal for dining on warm summer evenings. The inside, with its sea

colours lets the eye rove among old and unusual things, like the brick

ceiling and the old wood oven. All this, together with a warm family

atmosphere blends perfectly with the traditional cooking of an old

inn, which serves homemade pasta, fresh fish and traditional Ligurian

dishes.

Le restaurant donne sur une charmante petite place du centre historique

de Moneglia. La petite terrasse extérieure est idéale pour les diners d'été.

Son intérieur rappelle les couleurs de la mer, décoré d’objets anciens et

zu Gemüsetorten , viel von dem, was für eine reichere Küche als

überflüssig oder ungeeignet galt, bleibt heute auf den Tisch. Der

Fischabfall endete frittiert, aus einer einfachen kalten Brotsuppe

wurde die Caponada, Kutteln, Kabeljauscheiben und Dorsch

werden auch in Restaurants teuer verkauft, und mit einem Teller

Polenta oder mit Soße, Oliven und Pinienkernen serviert.

Fleisch wird in den Tälern als Hauptgericht bevorzugt, vor allem

Wildschwein, leckere Soßen und Salami, wenig pasteurisierte

Schafskäse wie Ricotta oder Weichkäse wie Stracchino und

Robiola. Genau die Milchproduktion, zusammen mit der

handwerklichen, erlaubt es, das Beste aus natürlichen Produkten

der kulinarischen Erfahrung des Val d'Avetos und Sturlas in

mehreren Verkaufspunkten direkt an der Straße anzubieten,

man findet sogar Fruchtmarmeladen, in Öl eingelegte Pilze und

Artischocken, Honig und frisch gemolkene Milch.

Moneglia verfügt über eine wichtige Ölproduktion. Das durch

die Mühlen erhaltene „extra virgin“ Öl hat die geschützte

Ursprungsbezeichnung "Riviera di Levante", in den Reihen und

Kellern von Razzola, Pignola e Lavagnina gehütet.

Luoghi d’interesse

Una delle principali è il Castello (o Fortezza) di Monleone,

sulle prime pendici ad ovest dell’abitato di Moneglia. La

tradizione vuole che sia stato edificato nel 1173, quando

venne nominato in un editto genovese che ordinava la

costruzione di castelli difensivi, atti a difendere la Repubblica

dagli attacchi dei rivali Malaspina e dai pirati saraceni.

Attaccato ripetutamente durante gli anni successivi, nel

1397 se ne decretò l’abbandono definitivo come struttura

difensiva.

Quello che oggi si può ammirare dove sorgeva la

fortificazione medievale è il piccolo Castello De Fornari,

costruito a inizio Novecento e in stile liberty, che oggi ospita

un bed and breakfast. Oltre quest’elegante sistemazione,

si trova un bel parco affacciato sul mare, dove si possono

visitare le vecchie vestigia della struttura che fu.

Torre Villafranca, eretta sulle pendici di una collina, domina

ancora la città a est, lambita a destra dal torrente Bisagno

e restaurata negli anni ‘30 del Novecento dal senatore Luigi

Burgo, che allora ne era il proprietario. Durante la seconda

guerra mondiale, la fortezza è stata purtroppo seriamente

danneggiata. Solo recentemente, dopo che le strutture sono

state finalmente messe in sicurezza e riaperte al pubblico,

che può così godere non solo delle rovine della struttura

pentagonale del complesso, ma anche dello splendido

panorama del golfo di Moneglia. Sia il mastio, a pianta

quadrata e realizzata in muratura, che i camminamenti sono

visitabili, così come l’unica garitta di vedetta conservatasi

fino ad oggi; e anzi, la torre, in origine a due piani, è diventata

sede del Centro Studi Felice Romani.

Tra i luoghi di culto trai più antichi del paese menzioniamo la

Chiesa di Santa Croce , che sorge nel centro della cittadina,

a una breve passeggiata di distanza dal Comune, databile

al 1030. Un secolo più tardi, nel 1143, la ritroviamo ampliata

e assurta ad essere il centro di una più ampia comunità

religiosa, o pieve. Purtroppo, della chiesa medievale non

rimane più nulla: le fonti raccontano di un rovinoso crollo

che la coinvolse, avvenuto nei primi anni del XVIII secolo.

La pieve come la conosciamo noi venne quindi riedificata

nel 1726 in stile barocco, e abbellita da opere di Anton

Maria Maragliano e da una preziosa Ultima Cena della

scuola di Luca Cambiaso, che nacque proprio a Moneglia.

Ultimo lascito delle epoche che furono, e che videro Santa

Croce nascere e svilupparsi, è l’Oratorio dei Disciplinanti,

che nonostante le modifiche in epoca rinascimentale,

è ancora visitabile nell’atrio e nell’aula. Le pareti di

quest’ultima offrono un’altra attrattiva al visitatore, con i

loro affreschi risalenti a varie epoche, come recenti studi

hanno dimostrato, e che riempiono le pareti di cicli completi

sulla vita della Madonna cui il complesso è dedicato e della

Passione di Gesù Cristo. Altra chicca su Santa Croce sono

i trofei conquistati nella battaglia della Meloria, combattuta

come abbiamo visto tra Genova e Pisa e conclusasi a

favore della prima. Appesi a una lapide nella facciata della

Chiesa, si possono ancora vedere due degli anelli della

catena che chiudeva il porto di Pisa, trafugati e appesi per

ricordo. Ultima ma non meno importante, la Chiesa di San

Giorgio. Vicina alla fortezza di Monleone, fu edificata nel

1396 da frati benedettini, che ne eressero la struttura in

stile gotico. Per quanto sia stata restaurata agli inizi del XVIII

secolo, assumendo un aspetto barocco sia nella facciata

che nelle tre navate interne, la torre campanaria, a pianta

quadrata, presenta ancora strutture che rimandano al suo

stile originario, come la decorazione a marmi bicromi e le

trifore che ne ornano la sommità. Diviene parrocchia nel

1414, separandosi così dalla giurisdizione della vicina Santa

Croce, e fu ampliata da un chiostro costruito nel 1484, da

monaci francescani che dieci anni più tardi acquisirono il

santuario grazie a un lascito testamentario. Con lo scorrere

degli anni si arricchisce di numerose opere d’arte di pregio,

trai quali le più importanti sono un gruppo ligneo che

raffigura il santo cui il tempio è dedicato, Giorgio, mentre

sconfigge il Drago, o “L’Adorazione dei Magi” del pittore

locale Luca Cambiaso. La tela più importante conservata,

tuttavia, è senz’ombra di dubbio il “San Giorgio che uccide

il drago”, che adorna la volta superiore del presbiterio ed è

attribuito, a ragione o meno, a Peter Paul Rubens.

Placide e beate le passeggiate che farete a Moneglia, nel suo

sistema di caruggi medievali che taglia in due il centro, parallelo

alla riva e stretto tra i muri coloratissimi delle case, quasi tutte

evolute in altezza e con facciate rinascimentali. Il Caruggio di via

Vittorio Emanuele sarà l’incontro di vita notturna e shopping di

Moneglia, sempre che non si intenda farne mambassa perché

in quel caso c’è Sestri Levante ad attendervi.

P lace of interest

One of the most important is the Castle(or fortress) of Monleone, on

the lower hills, west of Moneglia. It was said to have been built in 1173,

when it was named in a Genoese edict that ordered the construction of

various castles for the defense of the Republic against attacks of the rival

Malaspina and the Saracen pirates. It was repeatedly attacked in the

following years, and in 1397 it was ordered to be abandoned. On the spot

where the mediaeval fortress lay, today one can admire the small castle

De Fornari, built at the beginning of the 20th century in the liberty style,

and is a functional bed and breakfast hotel. There is also a beautiful

park overlooking the sea, where one can see traces of the original castle.

Villfranca tower, built on the slopes of a hill overlooks the town from the

east. On the right it is coasted by the Bisagno stream and was restored

in the 30s by Luigi Burgo, who was the owner. During the second world

war, however the fortress was seriously damaged. Only recently, after the

renovation of the building it was opened, it has been opened to the public,

which can enjoy, not only the ruins of the pentagonal complex, but also the

splendid view of the gulf of Moneglia. Both the keep, with a square plan,

and the battlements can be visited, as can the only watch tower surviving

. The main tower, originally with two floors, is now head office of Study

Centre Felice Romani.

The Church of Santa Croce is one of the oldest buildings in the town, rising

in its centre, a short walk from the town hall. It dates from 1030. A century

later in 1143 we find it enlarged and established as a large religious

place of worship, or a parish. However, nothing remains of the mediaeval

church. It was said to have mysteriously collapsed in the early years of the

18th century. The parish church as we now know it, was built in 1726 in

the baroque style, and decorated with works of Anton Maria Maragliano,

and by a precious Last Supper from the school of Luca Cambiaso, who was

born in Moneglia. The last remains of that epoch which saw Santa Croce as

it was, is the Oratorio dei Disciplinante, which, although changed during

the Renaissance, can still be visited. The walls of the hall offer another

attraction to the visitor. The frescoes date from different times according

to recent studies, and cover the walls with complete cycles of the life of the

Madonna to whom the complex is dedicated, and of the Passion of Christ.

Another thing to see in Santa Croce is the remaining trophies conquered

in the battle of Meloria, fought between Genoa and Pisa, and won by the

former. Hanging from a stone on the façade of the church, one can still see

two of the links of the chain that closed the gates of Pisa, carried off and

hung up as a souvenir.

And last but not least important, the church of San

Giorgio built in 1396 near the fortress of Monleone by the

Benedictine monks, who chose the Gothic style. It was

heavily restored at the beginning of the 18th century, to

the baroque style, transforming both the façade and the

three naves inside. The bell tower on a square plan, retains

features of its original style, such as the two coloured

marble decoration and the three mullioned window that

decorate the top. It became a parish church in 1414 and

thus separating itself from the jurisdiction of Santa Croce,

and was enlarged by a cloister built in 1484 by Franciscian

monks who, ten years later bought the sanctuary thanks

to an endowment. As the years passed it was enriched by

numerous valuable works of art, among which the most

important are a group of wooden carvings that represent

Saint George, to whom the church is dedicated, while he

fights the dragon, or the Adoration of the Magi, by the

local painter Luca Cambasio. The most important canvas,

however is, without doubt, “Saint George killing the

Dragon” that hangs in the upper volt of the presbytery and

is attributed to Peter Paul Rubens.

Peaceful and blessed are the walks you will have at

Moneglia, in its mesh of medieval streets which cut the

centre in two, parallel to the shore and narrow between

the highly coloured walls of the houses, most of which

are very high with renaissance facades. The street of Via

Vittorio Emanuele combines as a nightly meeting place

and a shopping street, but if you want to live it up, it’s best

to go to Sestri Levante.

Le château ou la forteresse Monleone se dresse sur les premiers

penchants à Ouest de la ville. La forteresse fut mise en place

en 1173 après un décret génois qui ordonna la construction de

châteaux pour défendre la République des attaques des familles

Malaspina, ses rivaux, et des pirates sarrasins.

Le château fut attaqué à plusieurs reprises après sa construction,

puis en 1397 un décret abandonna définitivement sa structure

défensive. À l’intérieure de la fortification originale se trouve

un petit château de style liberty construit au XIX appelé château

De Fornari, qui de nos jours a été transformé en B & B.

Le parc qui l’entoure offre une vue imprenable sur la mer et les

vestiges de l’ancienne forteresse méritent la visite.

La tour Villafranca construite sur les flancs d'une colline à Est,

bordée par la rivière Bisagno, domine encore aujourd’hui la

ville. La tour fut restaurée durant les années 30 par Luigi Burgo

qui était à l’époque propriétaire et pendant la seconde guerre

mondiale elle fut malheureusement gravement endommagée.

Récemment la structure pentagonale a été mise en sécurité

afin d’ouvrir ses portes au public. Actuellement à proximité

des anciennes ruines de la forteresse qui peuvent été visitées

se dresse une villa offrant des similitudes architecturales avec la

précédente construction.

De ce lieu de magnifiques panoramas donnent sur le golfe de

Moneglia.

Près de la mairie dans le centre-ville, l’église Santa

Croce construite en 1030 représente le plus ancien

lieu de culte. Un siècle plus tard elle fut agrandie

afin d’accueillir l’accroissement de la communauté

religieuse. Malheureusement de nos jours l’église

médiévale originale n’existe plus.

Il se dit qu’un mystérieux écroulement abattit l’Eglise

au début du XVIII siècle. La piève comme aujourd’hui

nous la connaissons fut réédifiée en style baroque en

1726. Elle fut décorée par les œuvres d’Anton Maria

Maragliano, un tableau de l’école de Luca Cambiaso,

originaire de Moneglia, représente la Dernière Cène.

Près de l’église Santa Croce, héritage du X siècle

se trouve l'Oratorio des Disciplinanti. Malgré les

transformations de l'époque Renaissance, l’oratoire et

son atrium sont ouvert au public.

Les murs de ce dernier offre au visiteur des fresques de

différentes époques représentant des scènes de la vie

de la Vierge et de la Passion de Jésus-Christ.

Pour revenir à l’église Santa Croce, elle renferme les

trophées de la bataille Meloria que Gènes à remportés

contre Pise. Sur une pierre tombale de la façade de

l'église, deux anneaux de la chaîne qui fermait le port

de Pise sont accrochés en signe de victoire.

L’église San Giorgio, près de la forteresse Monleone

fut édifiée en 1396 en style gothique par les frères

Benedettini.

Bien que sa façade et ses trois nefs furent restaurées

en style baroque au début du XVIII siècle, le clocher à

forme carrée, les trois fenêtres qui ornent sa pointe

et la décoration bi couleurs en marbres de la façade

rappellent les origines de la construction.

Elle devient paroisse en 1414 en se séparant de l’église

voisine Santa Croce. Elle fut agrandie d’un cloitre en

1484 par les moines Francescani qui 10 ans plus tard

acquirent le sanctuaire grâce à une donation reçue.

Au cours des années l’église s’enrichit de nombreuses

œuvres d'art dont “L’Adorazione dei Magi” du peintre

représente San Giorgio combattant le Dragon.

La fresque de la voute supérieure du presbytère est

certainement l’œuvre la plus importante attribuée à

tort ou à raison à Peter Paul Rubens qui représente la

destruction du Dragon par San Giorgio.

Les promenades le long des ruelles qui divisent le

centre de Moneglia en deux apportent paix et sérénité.

Le centre conçu entre de hautes maisons colorées aux

façades Renaissance longe la rive.

Le Caruggio Via Vittorio Emanuele est le lieu du

shopping et de l’animation des soirées sans oublier que

Sestri Levante se trouve à deux pas pour diversifier.

S ehenswürdigkeiten

Eines der Hauptattraktionen ist das Schloss (oder die Festung) von

Monleone das sich in den Ausläufern westlich der Stadt Moneglia

befindet. Man erzählt, dass es im Jahr 1173 gebaut wurde, als in

einem genuesischen Edikt der Bau von Verteidigungsfestungen

verordnet wurde, um die Republik von Angriffen der Feinde

Malaspina und Sarazenen zu verteidigen. In den folgenden Jahren

wurden sie wiederholt angegriffen und im Jahr 1397 wurde das

Schloss als defensive Struktur endgültig aufgegeben. Was heute auf

dem Gelände der mittelalterlichen Befestigung zu bewundern ist, ist

das kleine im frühen zwanzigsten Jahrhundert im Jugendstil erbaute

Schloss De Fornari, das heute ein Bed & Breakfast ist. Außer dieser

eleganten Unterkunft gibt es einen schönen Park direkt am Meer, wo

man die alten Überreste der Struktur besuchen kann.

Der Villafranca Turm, an den Hängen eines Hügels gebaut, dominiert

nach wie vor die Stadt im Osten, er befindet sich auf der rechten

Seite des Flusses Bisagno und wurde in den 30er Jahren von Luigi

Burgo, dem damaligen Besitzer, restauriert. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg

wurde das Fort leider schwer beschädigt. Erst vor kurzem, nachdem

die Strukturen schließlich sicher gemacht wurden, hat es wieder für

die Öffentlichkeit geöffnet, die auf diese Weise nicht nur die Ruinen

der fünfeckigen Struktur des Komplexes genießen können, sondern

auch die schöne Aussicht auf den Golf von Moneglia. Man kann

sowohl den Turm aus Mauerwerk mit quadratischem Grundriss als

auch die Laufgänge besichtigen, ebenso wie den einzigen bis heute

noch erhaltenen externen Aussichtsturm; und in der Tat, der Turm,

ursprünglich auf zwei Etagen, wurde als Konferenzraum genutzt.

Einer der ältesten Kultplätze im Ort ist die Kirche Santa Croce im

Zentrum der Stadt, nur einen kurzen Spaziergang entfernt von

der Gemeinde aus dem Jahr 1030. Ein Jahrhundert später, im Jahr

1143, finden wir diese erweitert und als Zentrum einer der größten

religiösen Gemeinschaften oder Pfarrei herangewachsen. Leider

bleibt von der mittelalterlichen Kirche nichts übrig: Quellen erzählen

von einem mysteriösen Einsturz im achtzehnten Jahrhundert.

Die Kirche, wie wir wissen, wurde dann im Jahre 1726 im Barockstil

umgebaut und mit Werken von Anton Maria Maragliano und einem

kostbaren Abendmahl von Luca Cambiaso verziert, der in Moneglia

geboren wurde. Letztes Erbe vergangener Zeiten, das die Entstehung von Santa Croce

und seine Entwicklung miterlebte, ist das „Oratorio die Disciplinanti“ (Oratorium der

Disziplinierten) dessen Atrium und Aula man trotz der Veränderungen in der Zeit

der Renaissance immer noch besichtigen kann. Die Wände des Letzteren bieten eine

weitere Attraktion für die Besucher, mit ihren Fresken aus verschiedenen Epochen, wie

jüngste Studien gezeigt haben, und die die Wände mit kompletten Zyklen dem Leben

der Jungfrau, deren es gewidmet ist, und der Leidenschaft Jesus Chrisus, füllen. Ein

weiteres Juwel der Santa Croce sind die Trophäen die in der Schlacht von Meloria

gewonnen wurden, die, wie wir wissen, zwischen Genua und Pisa ausgetragen wurde

und von Genua gewonnen wurde. Man kann immer noch zwei Ringe der Kette an einer

Gedenktafel hängend sehen, die den Hafen von Pisa schloss, diese wurden gestohlen

und zur Erinnerung angehängt. Schlussendlich, aber nicht weniger wichtig, ist da

noch die Kirche San Giorgio. Nahe der Festung von Monleone wurde sie im Jahre 1396

von den Benediktinern erbaut, die das Bauwerk im gotischen Stil errichteten. Obwohl

sie im frühen achtzehnten Jahrhundert restauriert wurde, und somit, sei es an der

Fassade sowie in den drei Kirchenschiffen, einen barocken Stil angenommen hat, kann

man an dem quadratischen Glockenturm immer noch Strukturen erkennen die an den

Originalstil erinnern, wie die Dekoration in farbigem Marmor und die dreibögigen

Fenster, die die Spitze verzieren. Es wurde im Jahre 1414 zur Gemeinde, trennte

sich somit von der Zuständigkeit der nahe gelegenen Santa Croce und wurde von

Franziskanern mit dem Bau eines Klosters im Jahre 1484 erweitert, die das Heiligtum

dann zehn Jahre später durch eine testamentarische Hinterlassenschaft erwarben.

Im Laufe der Jahre wurde es mit zahlreichen Werken der bildenden Kunst erweitert,

ein wichtiges zwischen ihnen ist eine Holzgruppe die den Heiligen darstellt, dem der

Tempel gewidmet ist. Es handelt sich um Giorgio während er den Drachen besiegt,

oder "L’Adorazione die Magi" des lokalen Malers Luca Cambiaso. Das wichtigste noch

erhaltene Gemälde ist jedoch zweifellos das „San Giorgio uccide il drago (San Giorgio

tötet den Drachen)“ dass das obere Gewölbe des Presbyteriums schmückt und, zu

Recht oder nicht, Peter Paul Rubens zugeschrieben wird.

Ruhig und gesegnet sind die Spaziergänge in Moneglia, mit seinem aus mittelalterlichen

Gassen bestehenden Systems, dass das Ortszentrum in zwei Hälften teilt, parallel zum

Ufer und eng inmitten den bunten Fassanden der Häuser, die fast alle in die Höhe

gebaut sind und Renaissance-Fassaden haben. In der Fußgängerzone der Via Vittorio

Emanuele findet das Nachtleben statt und es ist auch auch die Einkaufsstraße von

Moneglia, es sei denn, man will groß ausgehen, in diesem Fall erwartet Euch Sestri

Levante.

Le principali manifestazioni culturali di Moneglia,

rinomate sia in tutti i comuni limitrofi, che a livello

provinciale e regionale , sono i concerti di musica

classica organizzati dall’Associazione dedicata

a Felice Romani, poeta e letterato, apprezzato

librettista, prediletto da Vincenzo Bellini e Gaetano

Donizetti; l’Associazione ha contribuito, inoltre, al

recupero, ristrutturazione e valorizzazione di gran

parte degli spazi culturali sul territorio comunale,

sfruttati poi per queste ed altre iniziative.

Non possono ovviamente mancare nel centro

come nelle frazioni le celebrazioni del patrono,

l’Esaltazione della Santa Croce, durante la quale,

con gran affluenza di popolazione devota, si

susseguono le processioni che vogliono i cristezanti,

con i meravigliosi e pesantissimi “Cristi Liguri”,

attraversare strade impervie e sentieri tortuosi.

Da non perdere assolutamente è il Palio Marinaro

di fine agosto cui partecipano numerosi equipaggi

delle diverse località del Golfo del Tigullio, nella gara

interregionale di gozzi in vetroresina a sedile fisso.

Il lunedì di Pasqua, il Comune e la Pro loco, in

collaborazione con il Consorzio Olivicoltori Du

Facciù, organizzano la Mostra Mercato dell’Olio

d’Oliva.

Ogni anno a febbraio, in più, si celebra il Carnevale

della Zucca, storica festa che rinnova il ricordo della

tradizione popolare che si propone di spiegare il

perché Moneglia venga definita, dai borghi limitrofi,

il paese della zucca, con sfilata di carri allegorici

obbligatoria. Il tutto si basa su di una disputa sorta in

tempi lontani tra due contadini locali che, proprio sul

confine dei loro poderi, avevano trovato germogliata

e cresciuta una pianta di zucca.

It organizes the principal cultural events

of Moneglia which are the concerts of

classical music, well known nearby and

also on a regional and provincial level.

The association has contributed to the

restoration and valuation of the principal

cultural locations of the district, for its own

and other initiatives.

A central place must be given to the Festivity

of Santa Croce, during which the people

follow the procession of the marvelous

and very heavy “Cristi Liguri” through the

winding streets and paths. Don’t miss

the Palio Marinaro at the end of August

when numerous teams of the Gulf of

Tigullio participate in the rowing race with

traditional boats called “gozzi” made of

fiberglass with seats. On Easter Monday,

the City Hall in collaboration with the olive

producers Du Facciù, hold the market show

of Olive Oil.

Every year in February, as well, there is the

carneval of the pumpkin, a historic festival

which keeps alive the memory of the popular

legend which claims to explain why Moneglia

is defined as the capital of the pumpkin or

squash. There is a procession of allegorical

floats. The story goes that in times past there

was an argument between two local farmers

who, on the border of their land, found a

growing squash plant.

manifestations

Les principaux événements culturels de Moneglia et de tous ses

environs sont les concerts de musique classique organisés par

l’association "Felice Romani". L’association porte le nom de ce

poète, écrivain et librettiste apprécié et aimé des compositeurs

Vincenzo Bellini et Gaetano Donizetti. L’association a contribué à

la récupération, à la restauration et à la mise en valeur d'un grand

nombre d’espaces culturels présents sur le territoire qui recueillent

différentes initiatives.

« L’Esaltazione della Santa Croce – l’Exaltation de la Sainte Croix

» célèbre le Saint Parton en procession au travers de ruelles et

sentiers de la ville et des fractions commémorant les pesantes croix

« Cristi Liguri – Christs Liguriens».

À la fin du mois d’août se tient le Palio Marinaro. En l’occasion,

de nombreuses embarcations du Golfe Tigullio en fibre de verre à

siège fixe participent à la compétition interrégionale.

Le lundi de Pâques, en collaboration, la municipalité et la paroisse

avec le Consortium des producteurs d’olives Du Facciu organisent

un marché de l’Huile d’Olive.

Chaque année en Février défile le Carnaval de la Citrouille avec

ses chars décorés pour renouveler la tradition populaire qui vise à

expliquer pourquoi Moneglia et ses fractions sont appelées le pays

de la citrouille. L’histoire raconte d’une fameuse querelle entre

deux agriculteurs qui se disputaient la propriété d’une plante de

citrouille qui avait poussé juste à la limite de leurs terrains.

Die wichtigsten kulturellen Ereignisse von Moneglia, sowohl in allen

benachbarten Kommunen als auch auf Landes- und regionaler Ebene

bekannt, sind die Konzerte klassischer Musik die vom Verband "Felice

Romani" organisiert werden, Dichter und Schriftsteller, geschätzter

Librettist, Favorit von Vincenzo Bellini und Gaetano Donizetti; der

Verband hat auch zur Wiederherstellung und zur Verbesserung der

meisten Kulturräume in der gesamten Gemeinde beigetragen, die

dann für die eine oder andere Initiative genutzt werden. Im Zentrum

sowie in den umstehenden Dörfern dürfen natürlich auch nicht die

Feierlichkeiten des Schutzpatrons fehlen, das Hochleben lassen der

Santa Croce, während deren, mit großem Zustrom frommer Menschen,

die von den Christen gewollten Prozessionen entlang unpassierbaren

Straßen und gewundenen Wegen mit den wunderbaren und schweren

„Cristi Liguri“ durchgeführt werden. Man sollte sich absolut nicht den

„Palio Marinaro“ Ende August entgehen lassen, hier nehmen zahlreiche

Besatzungen verschiedener Lokalitäten des Golfs von Tigullia bei einem

überregionalen Ruderwettbewerb von Kähnen aus Fiberglas mit festen

Sitzen teil.

Am Ostermontag organisiert die Gemeinde und der Fremdenverkehrsverein

in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Konsortium „Olivicoltori Du Facciu“ die

Messe des Olivenöls.

Außerdem wird jedes Jahr im Februar der „Kürbis Karneval“ gefeiert,

ein historisches Fest, das die Erinnerung an die beliebte Volkstradition

erneuert, die mit einem obligatorischen Faschingsumzug erklären soll,

warum Moneglia von den umliegenden Dörfern als Kürbisort definiert

wird. All dies beruht auf einem Zank zwischen zwei lokalen Bauern in

alten Zeiten, die direkt an der Grenze ihrer Grundstücke eine gekeimte

und gewachsene Kürbispflanze fanden.

Sestri Levante

Un breve tragitto in treno, e magicamente si arriva da un capo

all’altro di paesaggi diversi tra loro come il giorno e la notte, ma a

pensarci, racchiusi in poco meno di un centinaio di chilometri in

linea retta. Non solo Moneglia funge da spartiacque tra i territori

scoscesi delle Cinque Terre e le belle baie del Silenzio e delle

Favole di Sestri, Santa Margherita e Portofino con la sua movida

e le passeggiate a ponente, ma vale la pena ricordare il numero

di svariate frazioni e piccoli centri che mantengono l’aspetto

rustico, quasi medievaleggiante, della Liguria interna, luoghi

oltremodo mistici che intervallano i break sulla spiaggia; risalendo

la valle del torrente Bisagno vengono incontro al viaggiatore

San Saturnino e Bracco, lungo la via Aurelia, tuffandosi in un

paesaggio naturale ricco di boschi. In un vallata fluviale si apre

Deiva Marina verso est, in direzione di La Spezia, col suo paese

vecchio e l’area più recente affacciata sul mare, a nord protetta

dal comune di Castiglione Chiavarese, a sud dritta in bocca al

sorriso delle colline soleggiate di Framura, Carro e Carrodano,

che attraverso Levanto si ricollegano al Golfo dei Poeti.

Un appuntamento da non mancare è il “Bagnun” di acciughe che

è uno dei sapori più tradizionali di Riva Trigoso primo Borgo che

si incontra a Ponente dopo le gallerie. L’acciuga, pesce povero

per eccellenza, incontra il pomodoro e la galletta del marinaio, in

una ricetta che regala tutto il gusto del Mediterraneo.

Il Bagnun, dal 1960, è anche qualcosa di più. Da un’idea di

Edoardo Bo, si cominciò allora ad organizzare una serata,

tradizionalmente nel penultimo fine settimana di luglio, durante

la quale offrire ai cittadini e agli ospiti generose porzioni della

celebre zuppa di pesce, passare un fine settimana fra musica e

spettacoli e far scoprire i segreti del nostro territorio. Da qualche

anno il Bagnun è anche un’associazione culturale onlus, che

porta il nome di Sestri Levante in giro per il mondo.

Take a short train journey and magically you will arrive in

a landscape totally different from that where you set off,

but very near , being only 100 km. away as the crow flies.

Moneglia lies between the rocky coast of the Cinque Terre,

and the Bay of Silence and the Fables of Sestri, Santa

Margherita and Portofino with its walks to the west; but

we must remember the inland places of Liguria, with its

numerous towns and villages with rustic and sometimes

medioeval style, mystical places to be visited when you

want a change from the beach. Climbing the valley of the

Bisagno stream, the traveller comes across San Saturnino

and Bracco, on the Aurelia, a landscape of woods.

A river valley opens, in the direction of La Spezia, towards

Deiva Marina to the east, with its old town and the newer

area facing the sea, protected to the north by the district of

Castilione Chiavarese, and to the south are the sunny hills

and from there going on to the Gulf of the Poets.

An event not to miss is the “Bagnum” of anchovies, one

of the most traditional, at Riva Trigosa, the first coastal

town to the west after the tunnel. The fish of the poor, the

anchovy is cooked with tomato and ship’s biscuits in a

tasty Mediterranean recipe.

The “Bagnum” since 1960 is even more. Originating from

an idea of Eduardo Bo, an evening event was organized,

traditionally on the second last weekend in July, when

generous portions of fish soup are offered to citizens and

guests, and the weekend is spent with music and shows,

discovering the secrets of the territory.

For a few years the Bagnum has also been an Onlus

Cultural Association, that spreads the name of Sestri

Levante around the world.

Dans l’arc de cent kilomètres parcourable par train, des paysages

très différents les uns des autres défilent sous les yeux.

Moneglia peut être considéré comme la division des eaux

territoriales situées entre les Cinque terre à Est et Portofino à

Ouest en passant par Santa Margherita. Ces deux dernières

localités sont convoitées pour la vie nocturne. Toutefois de

nombreuses petites villes, fractions et bourgs gardent un aspect

rustique d’antan, voire même médiéval typique de l’intérieure

de la Ligurie. Ces lieux mystiques offrent une pause après les

longs moments étendus sur les plages. En remontant la rivière

Bisagno, on rencontre les fractions de San Saturnino et plus

vers l’intérieur le Bracco qui longe la Via Aurelia retirée dans

un paysage naturel riche en bois. De Moneglia en allant vers le

Nord on rencontre les communes Castiglione Chiavarese, Carro

et Carrodano, le littoral Sud/Est nous proposent les communes

de Deiva Marina, Framura et Levanto et plus bas sur la côte le

Golfe des Poètes.

À ne pas manquer, le "Bagnun" d’anchois de Riva Trigoso qui

est la première localité après le tunnel que l’on rencontre en

partant de Moneglia en remontant vers Ouest. Les anchois

appartiennent aux poissons dits pauvres dont la tomate et la

galette du marin se marient parfaitement avec eux restituant le

goût de la Méditerranée.

Le Bagnun, depuis 1960, est quelque chose de plus. Edoardo

Bo, notable journaliste de Rive Trigoso lança l’idée de créer la

soirée du Bagnun l’avant dernier week-end de juillet pour offrir

à toute la population la fameuse soupe de poisson à l’enseigne

de la fête, de la joie et du spectacle, ce pour faire découvrir les

secrets du terroir. Depuis quelques années le Bagnun est aussi

une association culturale sans but lucratif qui organise des

événements culturels pour adultes et enfants et qui porte dans

le monde le nom de Sestri Levante.

In einer kurzen Zugfahrt kommt man wie mit Zauberei von einem Ende

ans andere verschiedener Landschafen die so verschieden untereinander

sind wie Tag und Nacht, die aber, wenn man darüber nachdenkt, eigentlich

nur etwas weniger als 100km in gerader Linie voneinander entfernt sind.

Moneglia fungiert nicht nur als Wasserscheide zwischen den schroffen

Gebieten der Cinque Terre und den schönen Buchten „Baia del Silenzio“

und „Baia delle Favole“ von Sestri, Santa Margherita und Portofino mit

seinem Nachtleben und seinen Promenaden im Westen, aber es lohnt sich

auch, sich an die Anzahl der verschiedenen Fraktionen und Kleinstädten

im Innern Liguriens zu erinnern, die noch immer ihren rustikalen Look

beibehalten, fast mittelalterlich, extrem mystische Orte; weiter das Tal

hinauf, entlang des Flusses Bisagno, treffen die Reisenden entlang der Via

Aurelia auf San Saturnino und Bracco und tauchen so in eine natürliche,

an Wäldern reiche Landschaft. In einem Flusstal öffnet sich Deiva Marina

in den Osten, in Richtung La Spezia mit seiner Altstadt und dem neueren

Bereich am Meer, im Norden von der Gemeinde Castiglione Chiavarese

geschützt, im Süden direkt in die sonnigen Hügeln Framuras, Carts und

Carrodanos schauend die sich durch Levanto wieder mit dem Golf der

Poeten verbinden.

Ein Ereignis das man nicht verpassen sollte ist das Sardellen "Bagnun",

eine der traditionellen Aromen von Riva Trigoso, das erste Dorf, auf das

Sie nach den Tunneln in Richtung Westen treffen. Die Sardellen, ein

„armer Leute Fisch“ par excellence, trifft in einem Rezept auf Tomaten und

knusprige Seemanns Focaccia mit Rosmarin, mit dem die Geschmäcker des

Mittelmeers angeboten werden.

Das Bagnun ist seit 1960 auch noch etwas mehr. Mit einer Idee Edward

Bos begann man, einen Abend zu organisieren, traditionell am vorletzten

Wochenende im Juli, bei dem den Bürgern und Gästen großzügige Portionen

der berühmten Fischsuppe angeboten werden, ein Wochenende mit Musik

und Shows, an dem man die Geheimnisse unseres Landes entdecken kann.

Seit einigen Jahren ist die Bagnun auch Non-Profit-Kulturverein, der den

Namen von Sestri Levante in die ganze Welt trägt.
