Deiva Marina

Deiva Marina, località balneare dai mille

tesori nella Riviera Ligure di Levante,

si posiziona strategicamente tra Genova

e La Spezia, attingendo da entrambe in

quanto bellezza dei territori. Il più occidentale

dei comuni della seconda, ne dista appena

una cinquantina di chilometri, per una

distanza speculare verso Genova. Confina

a nord con il comune di Castiglione Chiavarese,

a sud il Mar Ligure ne addolcisce il

profilo, mentre ad ovest, con Moneglia, e

ad est con Carro, Carrodano e Framura, si

getta tra boschi e pinete profumate.

Dei suoi itinerari, infatti, fanno parte proprio

i paesaggi da fiaba di quel tratto di

costa che, comprendente Portofino, le Cinque

Terre e il Golfo dei Poeti, va da Genova

fino all’incantevole Versilia… Lasciatisi

Deiva Marina alle spalle, sulla via per l’occidente

e superata Moneglia, potrete arrivare

prima a Riva Trigoso e, proseguendo

ulteriormente, raggiungere Sestri Levante,

con le due bellissime baie del Silenzio e

delle Favole.

Deiva è situata nella vallata di due torrenti,

il Castagnola e un secondo, omonimo, da

cui la città viene battezzata. Il paese è concettualmente

diviso in due, da una parte

c’è la zona più moderna, disposta lungo il litorale,

dall’altra quella più antica, cuore del

centro storico, situato in posizione più arretrata

rispetto al mare, sulla sponda del torrente

Deiva, un tempo via di collegamento

con gli altri centri costieri e dell’entroterra.

Conosciuta ed apprezzata per il mare pulito,

si lascia scoprire a poco a poco, circondandosi

della magia del borgo di San Fruttuoso,

con la sua Abbazia del X secolo, ed

oltre ancora, verso oriente, con quella della

Val di Vara, con i suoi borghi dell’età medievale,

ma soprattutto facendo da contrafforte

alle Cinque Terre. Il comune è costituito,

oltre al capoluogo, dalle frazioni di Piazza e

Mezzema e le più piccole Chiappa, Passano,

Preata, Ghiaia, Mulino, Cà Mirò.

Deiva Marina is a seaside resort with a thousand

treasures, strategically located in the

Ligurian Riviera, at the same distance from Genoa

and La Spezia, obtaining a lot from both in terms

of beauty of the territories.

It's the westernmost of the municipalities of La

Spezia, located at only fifty kilometers from Genoa

and La Spezia. It borders to the north with

the municipality of Castiglione Chiavarese, to the

south with the Ligurian Sea which softens the coast,

to the west, with Moneglia and to the east with

Carro, Carrodano and Framura which dive into

the woods of scented pine groves. Deiva Marina is

part of a fairytale landscape which goes from Genoa

to the enchanting Versilia, it includes Portofino,

the Cinque Terre and the Gulf of Poets, leaving

Deiva Marina, going west past Moneglia, first you

ressources de la Riviera de la Ligurie du

Levant. Située entre Gênes et La Spezia, régions

qui abondent de beautés. La Spezia à l’Est

et Gênes à l'Ouest se trouvent toutes deux à

cinquante kilomètres. Au Nord bordée par la

commune de Castiglione Chiavarese, au Sud

par la mer Ligurienne qui adoucit son profil, à

Ouest par la commune de Moneglia et à Est par

celles de Carro, Carrodano et Framura.

La côte qui se déploie de la Versilia à Gênes

régale de fabuleux paysages et des coins magiques

tels que le Golfe des Poètes, les Cinque

Terre et Portofino et bien d’autres encore. De

Deiva Marina, en allant vers l’Ouest, on traverse Moneglia,

Riva Trigoso et Sestri Levante qui possède deux magnifiques

baies (del Silenzio et delle Favole).

Deiva Marina est située dans la vallée aux deux cours d'eau,

Castagnola et Deiva d’où l’origine du nom. La petite ville

se divise en deux parties, la zone moderne s’étend sur

le littoral et la zone antique au cœur historique se situe à

l’intérieure sur la rive du torrent Deiva qui autrefois reliait

les centres côtiers et terriens.

Prisée pour sa mer transparente, Deiva et ses environs se

laissent découvrir peu à peu. Pour commencer, la fantastique

San Fruttuoso et son abbaye du Xe siècle, à Est la

vallée du Vara et ses villages du Moyen-Age et bien sûr les

célèbres Cinque Terre de la Ligurie qui baignent dans la

mer. La ville de Deiva englobe les hameaux Piazza et Mezzema

et d’autres petites localités comme Chiappa, Passano,

Preata, Ghiaia, Mulino, Cà Mirò.

Deiva Marina is well known and appreciated

for its clean sea, it can be discovered little by

little, thanks to the magical atmosphere that

surrounds the village of San Fruttuoso, with its

tenth-century abbey, on the east and to the east

the Vara Valley, with its medioeval villages, but

above all acting as a spur to the Cinque Terre,

the five Ligurian villages built on the hills, overlooking

the sea. Part of the municipality are

also the two hamlets of Piazza and Mezzema.

Via terra: Il casello dedicato di Deiva Marina è raggiungibile

tramite l’autostrada A12 Genova – Livorno da e per

qualsiasi direzione. Imboccata l’uscita, prima di Deiva Marina

si prosegue per circa 3 km sulla SP65, fino a raggiungere l’abitato

di Piazza. In prossimità del primo incrocio si deve svoltare

a destra, proseguendo in discesa sulla SP40 in direzione di

Deiva Marina, raggiungendo così il paese vero e proprio dopo

circa 6 km. In alternativa c’è la possibilità di uscire al casello

autostradale di Sestri Levante, che è l’uscita immediatamente

precedente a quella d’interesse, arrivando da Genova, per poi

proseguire lungo la strada litoranea passando per il comune di

Riva Trigoso. Questa seconda scelta vi permette di utilizzare il

percorso delle vecchie gallerie della ferrovia, che sono tuttavia

a senso unico alternato regolato da un semaforo a tempo. Suggestive

e a ridosso del litorale, sicuramente rallentano il vostro

arrivo a Deiva, ma coronano il viaggio con i panorami tipici per

chi sin da subito vuole entrare nello spirito della città di mare.

Di seguito vi riportiamo gli orari di percorrenza stabiliti:

- Da Riva Trigoso a Moneglia: semaforo verde ai minuti 15, 35 e

55 di ogni ora;

• Strada per le gallerie e vista Baie del Levante

- Da Moneglia a Deiva Marina: semaforo

verde ai minuti 05, 15, 25,

35, 45 e 55 di ogni ora;

- Da Deiva Marina a Moneglia: semaforo

verde ai minuti 00, 10, 20,

30, 40, 50 di ogni ora;

- Infine, da Moneglia a Riva Trigoso:

semaforo verde ai minuti 05, 25

e 45 di ogni ora.

Un ennesimo percorso, dedicato ai

più rodati visitatori di Deiva, passa

per la via Aurelia. In prossimità del

passo del Bracco, una strada locale

di 12 km porta dritta in bocca al paese.

Particolarmente interessanti,

soprattutto per chi viaggia in moto

o in bicicletta, sono i passi appenninici

dei Giovi, della Scoffera, del

Tomarlo, il Passo del Bocco, il Cento

Croci, il Rastrello, la Cisa, il Cerreto,

tutti raggiungibili in poco più

di mezza giornata di viaggio.

La tratta corrispondente, in treno,

è quella di Genova-La Spezia. Dei-

va Marina ha una sua stazione dedicata, ma ci si

arriva senza cambi solo lungo la tratta regionale:

da La Spezia in appena venti minuti, mentre

da Sestri, con cadenza di ogni ora, in poco meno

di quindici. Tutte le altre tratte interregionali o

con Intercity fanno tappa a Genova, La Spezia o

ancora Sestri: vi consigliamo di studiare preventivamente

le tappe del viaggio per non mancare

le specifiche stazioni.

Via aerea: Aeroporto Galileo Galilei di Pisa, a

un centinaio di chilometri di distanza, viaggiando

sull’A12 Genova-Rosignano. Altrimenti, l’aeroporto

internazionale Cristoforo Colombo, a

poco più di un’ora di tragitto, rappresenta una

valida alternativa per l’arrivo. Terza ed ultima

possibilità sono i grandi aeroporti di Milano,

Linate e Malpensa, dai quali potrete muovervi

o con un servizio di car sharing lungo le grandi

arterie della tangenziale, oppure, con un bus

navetta molto comodo che fa tappa a Milano

Centrale, prendendo un treno Intercity per la

tratta di interesse verso Deiva e le Cinque Terre,

tenendo a mente gli scali.

Via mare: La comodità di arrivare a Deiva via

mare sta proprio nella sua felice ubicazione.

Con scalo al Porto di La Spezia, o al nuovo attracco

del Mirabello, distate circa sessanta chilometri

in auto. Per l’arco dei mesi estivi, vengono

inclusi viaggi in battello sia dal capoluogo,

sia dalle Cinque Terre e Portovenere; la società

che gestisce questo servizio è la Navigazione

Golfo dei Poeti.

La stazione marittima di Genova la collega a

sua volta con servizio traghetti della CTN Tunisia

Ferries, e con le compagnie Moby, Tirrenia e

Corsica Ferries per Corsica e Sardegna. Grandi

Navi Veloci e Grimaldi Lines per Sicilia, Spagna

e Marocco.

By land: The dedicated toll booth of Deiva

Marina is reacheable through the A12 Genoa

- Livorno to and from any direction. After the

exit before you get to Deiva Marina, continue on

the SP65, for about 3 kilometres until you reach

the village of Piazza. Turn right at the first intersection,

continue along the SP40, direction Deiva

Marina, you will reach the town after about 6 kilometres.

Another solution, is it to exit the motorway

at Sestri Levante, which is the small town just before

Deiva Marina if you are coming from Genoa,

then continue along the seafront passing through

the town of Riva Trigoso. This second choice allows

you to use the road that was once a railway tunnel,

however it is a one-way road, regulated by a traffic light

with a countdown. This road has charming views

of the coast, that definitely slow down your arrival but,

the beautiful and typical views are ideal for those who

wants to get into the spirit of a seaside town.

Here below the traffic light sequence:

- From Riva Trigoso to Moneglia: green light at 00:15,

00:35 and 00:55 every hour;

- From Moneglia to Deiva Marina: green light at

00:05 minutes, 00:15, 00:25, 00:35, 00:45 and

00:55, every hour;

- From Deiva Marina Moneglia: green light 00:10,

00:20, 00:30, 00:40, 00:50 every hour;

- Finally, from Moneglia to Riva Trigoso: green light at

00:05, 00:25 and 00:45 every hour.

Another way to reach the town, is dedicated to the

most expert visitors, it's the Via Aurelia. When you

get near the Bracco Pass, there is a 12 kilometre road

that leads straight to the town. Particulary interesting,

especially for those travelling by motorcycle or

bicycle, are the Apennine Mountains Passes, Giovi,

Scoffera, Tomarlo, Passo del Bocco, Cento Croci, Rastrello,

Cisa, Cerreto, all within less than a half day

trip. If you go by train, there is the Genova-La Spezia

route. Deiva Marina has a train station, but only regional

trains stop at Deiva Marina; from La Spezia, it takes

just twenty minutes, and from Sestri Levante less

than 15 minutes, there is a train every hour. All other

trains, including fast trains stop at Genoa, La Spezia

or even Sestri Levante: we suggest you to check the

train stops of the specific train stations, in advance.

By plane: Galileo Galilei Airport, in Pisa, is at a hundred

kilometres distance, travelling along the A12

Genova–Rosignano. Another airport is the Cristoforo

Colombo International Airport, in Genoa; at just over

an hour distance, it is a valid option. Third and last

chance to arrive by plane, are the great aiports in

Milan, Linate and Malpensa airports, from which you

can rent a car, use a car sharing service along the ring

road, or there is a very convenient shuttle service that

stops at Milan Central station, then take a train, direction

Deiva and the Cinque Terre, but keep in mind

the stops.

By sea: The convenience of reaching Deiva Marina by

sea, is due to its excellent position. With a stop at the

Port of La Spezia, or at new Mirabello dock, you are

at about sixty kilometers away. During the summer

months, there are trips to and from the Cinque Terre

and Portovenere; the company that runs this service

is Navigazione Golfo dei Poeti. From Genoa Maritime

Station you will find CTN Tunisia ferry services, for

trips To France, Tunisia and France, Moby, Tirrenia

and Corsica Ferries, will take you to Corsica and Sardinia.

Grandi Navi Veloci and Grimaldi Lines will take

you to Sicily, Spain and Morocco.

sortie sur l’autoroute A12 Genova/Livorno,

6 km par SP40 pour rejoindre le centre de Deiva

Marina.

_De Genova, il est possible de sortir au péage

précédent de Sestri Levante, suivre la route

côtière SS1 en passant par Riva Trigoso. Ce dernier

parcours est plutôt pittoresque puisqu’il

emprunte les vieux tunnels de la voie ferrée qui

parfois sont à sens unique avec circulation alternée

selon les horaires suivants :

Riva Trigoso à Moneglia: feu vert aux minutes

15, 35, 55 de chaque heure.

Moneglia à Deiva Marina: feu vert aux minutes

05, 15, 25, 35, 45, 55 de chaque heure.

_Un autre parcours sur la SS1 Aurelia de 12 km,

plus adapté aux motocyclistes qui aiment les

tournants et la campagne vallonnée. Ce parcours

est une partie du trajet qui franchit les

cols des Appenins, des Giovi, de la Scoffera, du

Tomarlo, du Bocco, le Cento Croci, le Rastrello,

la Cisa, le Cerreto. Localités qui peuvent êtres

joindre en une demi-journée.

Par train : La gare de Deiva Marina se trouve

sur la ligne ferroviaire Genova-La Spezia. Les

arrêts sont fréquents sur les lignes régionales.

Vingt minutes de La Spezia, quinze minutes de

Sestri Levante avec départ toutes les heures.

Come già vi abbiamo accennato, Deiva Marina

è divisa in due parti ben distinte: il paese

vecchio, sito verso l’interno, cresciuto attorno alla

piazza antistante la chiesa di Sant’Antonio abate,

caratterizzato da stretti caruggi e case-torri tipicamente

genovesi, e la Marina, più attrezzata e recente,

asfaltata e sviluppata lungo linee geometriche

a definire la passeggiata. Di per sé, restando tra i

confini dell’abitato, Deiva la si può esplorare nel

giro di una giornata, due se si vuole esplorare anche

l'entroterra. E’ spostandosi a ridosso di itinerari

che spaziano dal frastagliato Parco Naturale delle

Cinque Terre, all’Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, incluso

il Golfo del Tigullio con le sue aree pedonali, che

la viabilità si fa difficoltosa, e la macchina si rivela il

biamente meravigliose, ma in prevalenza composte

da tornanti che dall’Aurelia scendono al mare.

Inoltre, per tutto l’arco delle Cinque Terre e fin

quasi al paese, le tariffe dei parcheggi comunali

sono assai care. Non di meno, Deiva Marina è circondata

da rilievi anche abbastanza imponenti. Il

modo migliore per raggiungere e visitare la zona

(oltre quello più economico) si rivela essere il treno,

tanto più se si tratta di dover fare un week

end o una “toccata e fuga”: il servizio ferroviario

è efficiente e ci sono corse continue sia da Genova,

sia da La Spezia. E’ possibile richiedere un

abbonamento o tariffe ridotte per mezzo della

Cinque Terre Card Treno MS fino a Levanto, promozione

fissa e molto gettonata in collaborazione

con Trenitalia.

A piedi o in mountain bike vi godrete tutte le bellezze

naturali della zona: un importante itinerario

naturalistico prevede la risalita dal centro storico

in direzione delle alture, e attraverso le frazioni

di Mezzema, Piazza e Passano, a 298 metri sul

livello del mare, costeggiando la chiesa di N.S.

dell’Assunta, costruita intorno al 1002, su fino al

San Nicolao, che è facilmente riconoscibile perché

sormontato da antenne e ripetitori televisivi.

Si può arrivare anche in località Baracchino,

fino a 800 metri, che tra silenzi e frinire di grilli

vi regalerà una vista niente male fin quasi al Golfo

della Spezia. Gli stessi rilievi che vi rendono il

viaggio in macchina difficoltoso permettono di

appassionarsi alle piste da trekking e di effettuare

passeggiate lungo sentieri, riscoprendo paesaggi

dimenticati tra leccete e boschi di castagno.

Durante la bella stagione esistono collegamenti

giornalieri via mare dalla Spezia, Lerici e Porto

Venere. Monterosso, Vernazza, Manarola e Riomaggiore

sono anch’esse servite, nell’arco della

giornata, da linee di navigazione interne.

As already mentioned, Deiva Marina is divided into

two separate parts: the old one, located inland,

which grew up around the square in front of the church

of St. Anthony Abbot, with its narrow alleys and the

typical Genoese tower houses, and Marina, the new

part, is better equipped and has recently been paved,

it develops along geometric lines to define the promenade.

If you stay in the residential area of the town, it

just takes a day or two to have a look at the sea and

the mountains. If you go along the jagged Natural Park

of Cinque Terre, the High Street of the Ligurian Mountains,

including the Gulf of Tigullio with its pedestrian

areas, the road becomes difficult, the car is not the most

suitable means of transport for an extended stay. The

panoramic roads offer with no doubt wonderful views,

but there many hairpin turns on the Via Aurelia that

goes down towards the sea. In addition, throughout the

whole area of the Cinque Terre and before reaching

the small town, the car parks are very expensive. Nevertheless,

Deiva Marina is also surrounded by impressive

mountains The best way to reach and visit

the area (it's also the cheapest) turns out to be the

train, especially if it is for a weekend or a " hit and

run ": the railway system is efficient and there are

continuous runs from both Genoa and La Spezia.

It is possible to buy a season ticket or lower fares,

with a Cinque Terre Card Train MS even in Levanto,

it's a popular fixed ticket fee offered by Trenitalia.

On foot or with a mountain bike you will enjoy

all the natural beauties of the area: an important

natural route includes the path from the centre

towards the hills, and through the villages of Mezzema,

Piazza and Passano, at 298 meters above

the sea level, skirting the church of NS Assumption,

built around 1002, up to Saint Nicolao, which

is easily recognizable with all the tv antennas and

repeaters.

At 800 meters above the sea level you reach the

very quiet village of Baracchino, you can only hear

the crickets chirping, there is a fantastic view, almost

up to the Gulf of La Spezia. The same geographical

features that makes the journey so difficult

by car, allows you to enjoy hiking trails and

walks along the foot paths, rediscovering forgotten

landscapes among holm oaks and chestnut

woods. During the summer months there are daily

departures by sea from La Spezia, Lerici and Portovenere.

From Monterosso, Vernazza Manarola

and Riomaggiore, other ferries operate throughout

the day.

La visite en une journée de Deiva Marina commence par le bourg

antique bâti autour de la place de l’église Sant ’Antonio Abate et

ses ruelles, ses maisons-tours génoises caractérisent ce quartier, puis

la Marina sur le littoral et sa promenade de bord de mer récemment

dessinée et équipée. Nul ne vous empêche de séjourner à Deiva pour

visiter les alentours les jours suivants. Les reliefs au Nord de Deiva

sont assez élevés laissant apparaitre de magnifiques panoramas à chaque

tournant sur la route montante. Longeant le littoral d’Est en Ouest

on découvre le Parc Natural des Cinque Terre, la Haute Voie des Monts

Liguriens, le Golfe du Tigullio. Le territoire particulièrement escarpé

ne facilite pas l’usage de la voiture, du reste les parkings durant la haute

saison sont difficiles à trouver et coûteux. Le train peut se révéler

un moyen de transport commode et peu onéreux pour visiter la région.

La Cinque Terre Card, délivrée un peu partout, permet d’obtenir

des tarifs spéciaux pour voyager en train ou bus. Pour les amateurs de

mountain bike, un itinéraire naturaliste et particulièrement subjectif

démarre du centre antique de Deiva et atteint le Mont San Nicolao

(847mASL) avec ses antennes télévisées. Le parcours, selon les options,

traverse les fractions Mezzema, Piazza, Passano (298mASL),

Baracchino (800mASL) en passant devant l’église Notre Dame de l’Assunta,

construite en 1002. Parcours faisable aussi en voiture avec la

faculté de s’arrêter pour faire des randonnées parmi les paysages sauvages,

les bois de chênes et de châtaigniers.

A partir du printemps, il y a de nombreuses liaisons quotidiennes effectuées

par les ferries locaux qui relient La Spezia, Lerici, Portovenere,

Monterosso, Vernazza, Manarola et Riomaggiore.

L a cucina di DEIVA MARINA

La cucina dalla quale attinge Deiva, è quella magistralmente

custodita nelle ricette delle donne

del Levante. Esalta i sapori semplici, prediligendo il

pesce e le verdure che la terra ha da offrire, rivisitate

in condimenti, salse e torte salate. Dai pascoli e

dai boschi arriva la selvaggina.

Le trofie, o troffie, pasta corta lavorata a mano a

base di farina di frumento, come tradizione comanda,

sono il must dei primi piatti: arricchite dal

celebre condimento, il “pesto”, preparato usando

basilico, olio extravergine di oliva e formaggio grattugiato,

nella variante genovese sono arricchite da

fagiolini e una patata lessa, messa a fare del primo

uno squisito piatto unico. Fanno parte della tradizione

gastronomica locale anche altri tipi di pasta,

come le trenette o ad esempio i pansotti ripieni di

erbe e ricotta, conditi con salsa di noci, o i corzetti,

medaglioni di pasta fatti con acqua, farina di grano

e sale.

A seguire, la buona forchetta ricerca i ravioloni, col

ripieno di verdure miste, formaggio o salsiccia, conditi

dal tipico ‘toccu’ alla genovese, sugo di carne

portato lentamente all’ebollizione desiderata.

In qualsiasi panetteria trovate facilmente l’autentica

focaccia, liscia o imbottita, ideale per un pranzo

leggero o la merenda dei bambini. Da assaggiare

assolutamente quelle con la cipolla, le acciughe e

i pomodori secchi, o rielaborate secondo fantasia.

Nelle torte di verdura, chiamate non a caso Torte

Verdi, si utilizzano la borragine, le biete, le erbette

di campo, i carciofi o impasti diversi di paese in paese;

più ricca e sontuosa, con uova bollite e ricotta,

la Torta Pasqualina alla genovese.

Nei secondi trionfa il pesce azzurro del Mediterraneo,

tra cui le acciughe, le orate o i branzini, ricciole

quando è stagione, al forno o al cartoccio. I frutti di

mare e i molluschi vengono utilizzati sia nelle fritture,

sia per quello che riguarda i primi, squisiti nelle

tagliatelle ma anche nell’insalata di polpo da servire

tiepida, come antipasto. Ottime e apprezzate, nel

Levante tutto, le frittelle di bianchetti. Nelle giornate

a cavallo della primavera, quando si esauriscono i

primi freddi, chiedete al vostro ristoratore di prepararvi

lo stoccafisso in umido con la polenta di mais.

Dove finisce il mare e cominciano i boschi, ecco che

la tavola si fa imbandita: coniglio alla ligure, con olive

taggiasche, un pugno di pinoli ed erbe aromatiche

direttamente prelevate dall’orto, la gallina ripiena,

la cui preparazione varia di massaia in massaia, e in

perfetto stile di riciclo, così come la Liguria impone,

gli stecchi con creste e fegatini di pollo, fritti, fino

alle cotolette di agnello ancora contornate da una


frittura di interiora, la trippa stufata, servita

macchiata col pomodoro. I funghi, puliti e tagliati,

si spadellano a fiamma bassa assieme

ad aglio, origano e sale. Ortaggi e conserve,

miele di acacia o millefiori, abbondano grazie

alle ricche materie prime di origine agreste.

Per la carta dei dolci, vi consigliamo di assaggiare

il celebre Pandolce Genovese, golosità

delle feste a forma circolare, che racchiude

uvetta, frutta candita e secca in un morbido

pane lievitato naturalmente, le frittelle di

mele, sugose e saporite colte tra i boschi di

Framura, il castagnaccio, a base di farina delle

stesse e leggermente agro.

Qualunque piatto si scelga, due sono gli apprezzatissimi

vini caratteristici: il bianco

secco DOC “Cinque Terre” ed il liquoroso

vinello dolce DOC chiamato “Sciacchetrà”.

Attraversando il territorio comunale di La

Spezia, un’altra coppia fortunata facilmente

consigliata dalle cantine più esperte porta il

nome di "Tramonti di Biassa" e "Tramonti di

Campiglia", bianchi di rigore, poiché non dimentichiamoci

di essere in una delle patrie

della pesca col palamito.

Alla Sagra del Limone, tenuta a Monterosso il

terzo sabato di maggio, è possibile assaggiare

il frutto di una ricercata produzione di limoncino

autoctono.

finds inspiration, comes from

skillfully kept grandmothers' cookbooks.

It enhances simple tastes,

preferring fish to vegetables that

the area has to offer, with new

dressings, sauces and vegetable

pies. Game comes from grazing

lands and woods. Trofie or troffie,

is a short type of hand made pasta,

wheat flour, prepared as tradition

to village, richer, with boiled eggs and ricotta

cheese, is the Genoese Torta Pasqualina.

herbs chosen from the kitchen garden; or stuffed

chicken, the recipe varies according to the

housewife who makes it, and left overs as it is

done in Liguria, skewers with fried liver, chicken

crests, lamb cutlets with fried innards, stewed

tripe with just a drop of tomato sauce. Mushrooms

are cleaned, sliced and cooked in a pan

over a low flame, with garlic, oregano and salt.

Vegetables and jams, acacia and millefiori honey,

we have plenty natural local ingredients. As

regards desserts we suggest to try the famous

Pandolce Genovese, a round shaped cake, rich

in raisins, candies, dry fruit and a naturally leavened

soft dough, or the juicy and tasty fried

apples, picked in the woods in Framura, and

Castagnaccio, made with chestnut flour with a

slightly sour taste. Whatever dish you choose,

we suggest a perfect match with one of the two

well appreciated typical wines: a dry DOC white

wine "Cinque Terre", or the sweet liquor DOC

wine, called “Sciacchetrà”.

Crossing the territory of La Spezia, try two

other wines suggested by the most expert wine

cellars: "Tramonti di Biassa" and "Tramonti di

Campiglia", both strong white wines, as we

must not forget that we are in the land of longline

fishing. At the Lemon Fair held in Monterosso

al Mare, in the Cinque Terre on the third saturday

in May, you can taste the sought after local

product limoncino.

La cuisine de Deiva prend ses recettes

dans les vieux livres de

cuisine des grands-mères des lieux.

Cuisine simple principalement à

base de poisson et de légumes du

terroir, relevée et transformée en

sauces, soupes et tourtes. Des bois

et des pâturages arrivent gibiers et

viandes saines. Les pâtes : _“Les

trofie o troffie”, faites maison à base

de farine de froment servies avec le

fameux “pesto” (sauce verte au basilic,

huile d’olive, fromage râpé) ou

servies, option génoise, avec des haricots

blancs et une pomme de terre

Les ravioloni » farcis de légumes, fromage râpé

et saucisse, servis avec le typique ‘toccu’ à la

génoise (sauce cuite très lentement sur le feu à

base de tomates et viande hachée). Les étals des

boulangeries proposent toutes sortes de focaccia,

simple, farcie aux oignons, aux anchois, avec

tomates séchées ou autres fantaisies, souvent la

focaccia est consommée comme déjeuner léger

ou comme encas pour petits et grands. Les tourtes

salées appelées les “Torte Verdi”, faites avec

la bourache, des blettes, des herbes des champs,

des artichauts, ou d’autres ingrédients encore selon

la tradition des lieux. Par exemple la Torta Pasqualina

façon génoise, riche et onctueuse avec

œufs durs et ricotta. En ce qui concerne Les plats

principaux, les poissons bleus de la méditerranée

trônent sur les tables des restaurants. Selon la

saison on trouve les anchois, les beignets de petits

poissons, la dorade, le loup de mer et les sérioles

qui seront cuisinés au four ou en papillote.

Entre mer et terre, la table se décore : Lapin

façon Ligurie avec olives taggiasche (variété autochtone),

une poignée de pignons et d’herbes

Spiagge e mare stupendo tra Punta

Mesco e l’inizio della provincia di

Genova fanno in modo che la vacanza di

grandi e piccini sia sempre all’insegna del

benessere e di acque pulite, insignite della

celebre Bandiera Blu. Pesca o diving a

Levanto, baie nascoste e un piccolo approdo

a Framura, a Deiva Marina il primo

porto a secco della riviera, che favorisce,

per chi approfitta del traffico ittico, il ricovero

dei natanti da diporto, offrendo

minori costi di gestione e con formule

personalizzate di contratto. Windsurf

ed altri sport possono essere agevolmente

praticati sul posto, grazie anche

alle strutture ricettive degli stabilimenti,

dove previste. Per gli amanti della camminata

trekking e passeggiate lasciano

scoprire il territorio con la dovuta calma,

tra percorsi e tracciati sul mare in una natura

quasi del tutto incontaminata, tutti

facenti parte di una rete molto più vasta

che collega le Baie di Sestri e il Tigullio

alle Cinque Terre. Il più famoso è quello

che partendo da Portovenere arriva a

Sestri Levante, completamente gratuito,

mentre da Deiva Marina è possibile raggiungere

Moneglia e nuovamente Sestri

Levante verso ovest, oppure Framura in

direzione est. Sono una decina i sentieri

praticabili ufficialmente riconosciuti,

facenti riferimento al CAI o ai Sentieri

Azzurri, con tempi di percorrenza alla

portata di tutti e gradi di difficoltà medi.

L’itinerario naturalistico da Bonassola

a Framura e da Framura a Deiva Marina

vi porta dalla Chiesa di Santa Caterina,

attraversando la località Fornaci e fino a

Serro, passando per un dislivello di quasi

300 metri, immersi nei paesaggi tipici

della Riviera, godendo di un panorama

che nelle giornate limpide va dal promontorio

di Portofino fino al golfo di Levanto.

Pur trattandosi di un saliscendi impervio

tra vigneti e scogliere, il tratto della

Riviera di Deiva offre notevoli possibilità

per chi ama la mountain bike. Una pista

aperta di recente fa tappa tra Framura,

Bonassola e Levanto, attraversando le

antiche gallerie del treno a vapore. In bicicletta

si può raggiungere Castagnola,

la parte alta del comune di Framura, pedalare in pianura fino a

Costa di Framura e poi in discesa, verso la pista ciclabile e così

pure per le piste adatte al Free Ride. A Deiva Marina si celebra

la festa patronale di San Giovanni Battista il 24 giugno, con il

popolare falò della vigilia, quella di Sant’Anna nella frazione di

Piazza il 26 luglio e la cerimonia per San Bernardo abate nella

frazione Mezzema il 20 agosto. Sempre ad agosto la Festa della

Madonna della Guardia, con messa e processione. In settembre

la marcia podistica dei Sentieri Azzurri, imperdibile per chi vuo-

trail from Bonassola to Framura and from Framura to Deiva

Marina leads you to the church of Santa Caterina, go past the

village of Fornaci and then up to Serro, where there is a vertical

drop of about 300 metres, here you will be surrounded by the

typical landscapes of the Riviera, enjoy the view, when the weather

is fine, of the promontory of Portofino and the small gulf

of Levanto.

Although the area of Deiva, with its vineyards and cliffs is steep

and difficult, this stretch of Riviera provides remarkable opportunities

for mountain biking lovers. Recently a trail has been

opened, it connects Bonassola to Levanto, passing through the

old train tunnels. By bike you can reach Castagnola, which is the

highest part of the municipality of Framura, cycling on the flat,

up to Costa di Framura and then downhill, towards the bike path

suitable for free rides.

Deiva Marina celebrates its Patron Saint St. John the Baptist,

on 24 June, with a popular bonfire, the night before; St. Anne is

celebrated in the hamlet of Piazza on 26 July and St. Bernard

Abbot, in the hamlet of Mezzema on 20 August. Festa della Madonna

della Guardia, takes place in August too, with a Mass

and a procession. In September, the Sentieri Azzurri foot race,

a must for those who want to try one of the most beautiful trails.

Deiva Carnival, in February, parades from Corso Italia to Piazza

della Posta, a must for children who will enjoy the famous

piñata.

de promenades, un riche itinéraire de sentiers

balisés relie la baie de Sestri Levante au Golfe

du Tigullio et les Cinque Terre, entre mer et

montagne au travers d’une nature restée vierge.

Le réseau des sentiers pédestres italiens

du CAI (Club Alpin Italien), et d’autres comme

Sentiers Azzurri, proposent des parcours dans

tous les sens, de Portovenere à Sestri Levante,

de Deiva Marina à Moneglia, de Sestri Levante

à Framura et bien d’autres encore.

Tous ces sentiers sont balisés indiquant le

temps de parcours et le degré de difficulté. Le

sentier qui va de Bonassola à Deiva Marina passant

devant l’église Santa Caterina de Bonassola

et par les fractions Fornaci et Serro comporte

une différence de niveau de 300 mètres. Cet

itinéraire réserve au marcheur de magnifiques

paysages typiques de la Riviera, et par temps

clair il est possible d’entrevoir du promontoire

de Portofino au golfe de Levanto. Pour ceux qui

aiment la mountain bike, le tronçon de la Riviera

de Deiva passe au milieu de champs cultivés

en terrasses où poussent oliviers et vignes, offrant

montées et descentes adaptées aux bonnes

jambes musclées. Récemment l’ouverture

de la piste cyclo piétonnière qui longe Framura,

Bonassola et Levanto a été créée à partir de

l’ancienne voie ferrée qui a été rénovée et modifiée.

Toujours en bicyclette, on peut rejoindre

Castagnola, fraction élevée de la commune de

Framura, Costa di Framura partie plate et enfin

redescendre vers la piste cyclable déjà citée.

En ce qui concerne le fêtes : _San Giovanni

Deiva Marina avec son énorme feu populaire

allumé la veille au soir. _Sant’Anna à Piazza le

« rottura della pentolaccia - rupture

du chaudron ». Il y a bien sûr d’autres évènements

déroule dans les eaux froides de Janvier. _Des

compétitions de pêche sous-marine en Mai. _La

Tutt’attorno, la Riviera di Levante

è caratterizzata da una costa

rocciosa alta e scoscesa, con piccole

insenature, graziose calette e grotte

semisommerse, delimitate da stretti

promontori. Su questi cresce rigogliosa

la macchia mediterranea, a cui

dedicano le loro cure sussiegose la

brezza del ponente e un clima rinvigorente;

tra un cespuglio di corbezzolo

e le abetaie in vista della Val di

Vara, ritroviamo una straordinaria

diversità di specie animali e vegetali

autoctone. Intorno a Deiva la vegetazione

continua ad essere contraddistinta

da fasce di pino marittimo e

da numerose varietà di ginestra, mirto,

piante di leccio e “odori” dell’orto,

come timo, borragine, erba fragolina

e rosmarino. Di rado, comunque, ci

si imbatte per le aree del Levante in

lingue di sabbia adatte ad una prolungata

tintarella, ma in questo, Deiva, si

avvantaggia con un arenile che richia-

ma annualmente centinaia di turisti. Si tratta di una spiaggia lunga e

stretta, ma molto ben esposta e riparata dai venti, nascosta tra due

corone di scogli. Dalla riva verso i primi boschi salgono le cosiddette

creuze e i primi sentieri del parco naturale “Monte-Serro-Punta Mesco”,

nel quale il paese è inserito. Spostandoci in vista delle Cinque

Terre, girato l’angolo, le terrazze coltivate a vigna dal quale si ottiene

il dolce vino “Sciacchetrà” riempiono gli occhi di colori vividi come l’oro.

I comuni di Carro e Carrodano, a pochissima distanza, si affidano

ai connubi paesaggistici del parco naturale regionale di Montemarcello-Magra,

vestito delle tonalità del pino d’Aleppo che domina le vallate,

tra meandri rocciosi e allargandosi in brevi piane coltivate giù verso

la Valle del Magra, al confine con la Toscana. Con la verde Val di Vara

alle spalle, viceversa, il ritaglio di un mare che vanta la Bandiera Blu,

casa di anno in anno di gruppi di delfini e capodogli in migrazione, ci

conduce in direzione di Rapallo, Santa Margherita e Portofino, piccole

capitali di benessere e cultura. Scogliere e spiaggette che definire

selvagge è dire poco, per chi sa trovarle, permettono ore di relax circondati

da vedute meravigliose. Verso i faraglioni in località Framura,

comune sparso abbarbicato tra Levanto e Deiva, il cui entroterra è coperto

dai numerosi boschi di castagno, è permessa una pesca proficua

tutto l’anno, sia in zone meno fonde, per cefali e branzini in inverno, sia

in tratti più profondi dove è facile catturare saraghi e orate. Notevole,

in località Vigo, la presenza delle querce da sughero. Per concludere,

il monte Serro, situato tra Framura e Deiva Marina, corona la tavolozza

di verdi con le sue rocce a picco sul mare, in particolare a punta Apicchi,

dove si trova un orto botanico, e nelle vallette incastonate tra il

saliscendi delle pendenze, scavate dall’erosione di una moltitudine di

piccoli torrenti.

• Sentiero per Moneglia

The east Riviera that surrounds the place has a high and

steep rocky coastline, with pretty small coves and semi-submerged

caves, separated by narrow promontories.

The blooming Mediterranean maquis, covers the whole

area, with the haughty breeze coming from the west and a

reinvigorating climate, among strawberry-tree bushes and

pine woods overlooking the Val di Vara, we find an extraordinary

variety of local vegetation and animal species. The

area around Deiva shows a vegetation with maritime pine

trees and different varieties of broom, myrtle, holm oak trees

and the "scents " of aromatic plants such as thyme, borage,

strawberry grass and rosemary. However, on the east

side, you will rarely come across sandy areas suitable for

prolonged sunbathing, but in Deiva Marina there is the advantage

of a strand beach that attracts hundreds of tourists

every year. It is a long and narrow beach, very well exposed

and sheltered from the winds, hidden between two big

rocks. From the shore going up, you will bump

into the so-called creuze woods and foot paths,

that are part of the Natural Park "Monte-

Serro- Punta Mesco", the village is part of it.

Moving towards the Cinque Terre, just round

the corner, the terraced vineyards, from which

a sweet wine called "Sciacchetrà " is obtained,

it will fill our eyes with lively colours

such as gold. The municipalities of Carro and

Carrodano, are at a short distance and rely

on the bond of landscapes of the Natural Regional

Park of Montemarcello-Magra, with

its shades of Aleppo pine trees, dominating

the valleys among rocky meanders, the area

gets wider with its small cultivates planes,

down towards the Magra valley, on the border

to Tuscany. Vice versa, with the green Val

di Vara at the back, the strecht of sea that

boasts the FEE Blue Flag with dolphins and

sperm whales migrating every year, leads us

to Rapallo, Santa Margherita and Portofino,

small resorts of wealth and culture. Cliffs

and wild beaches, difficult to find, allow

hours of relax, surrounded by beautiful views.

Towards the sea stacks, we find Framura, a

scattered municipality perched between Levanto

and Deiva, whose hinterland is covered

by many chestnut woods, a profitable catch

is allowed every year, both in less deep areas

for mullets and sea bass, in the winter and in

deeper areas, where it is easy to catch white

breams and sea breams. The remarkable presence,

in Vigo, of the cork oak. Finally, Mount

Serro, situated between Framura and Deiva

Marina, with its many different green colours

and the cliffs overlooking the sea, in particular

La Riviera du Levant se caractérise par un littoral

rocheux et accidenté qui abrite de petites criques,

de jolies baies et des grottes semi-immergées

délimitées par des rochers. Le luxuriant maquis méditerranéen

est caressé par la brise du levant et par un

climat vivifiant. Parmi les buissons d’arbousiers et les

forêts de pins se cachent une faune sauvage et une

extraordinaire flore autochtones : pins maritimes,

genêts, myrtes, chênes, herbes aromatiques tels que

le thym, la bourrache, le romarin et tant d’autres. La

Plage de Deiva qui attire des centaines de touristes

chaque année est longue et étroite, bien exposée et

abritée de tous les vents par des roches qui l’enclosent.

De la rive vers la montagne empruntant

les fameuses « creuze » et sentiers qui mènent

au Parc Naturel, du « Monte-Serro-Punta » on

découvre les cultures en terrasses où le doux

vin “Sciacchetrà” est cultivé. Les communes

voisines de Carro et Carrodano reposent sur

le Parc Naturel Régional Montemarcello-Magra

dont les forêts de pins d'Alep dominent les

vallées et s’étendent vers la vallée du fleuve

Magra, frontière avec la Toscane. Au Sud de la

vallée du fleuve Vara, une mer qui affiche Drapeau

Bleu, sanctuaire des cétacés où migrent

dauphins et cachalots. Plus à Ouest encore, on

se dirige vers Rapallo, Santa Margherita et Portofino,

perles du bien-être et de la culture. Pour

ceux qui fuient les stations balnéaires affolées,

tout le long de la côte, il est possible de découvrir

criques et petites plages sauvages pour se

reposer en toute tranquillité devant de magnifiques

panoramas. Framura est une commune

éparpillée et juchée entre Levanto et Deiva.

Toute l’année ses eaux de bas-fonds sont autorisées

à la pêche au mulet et au loup de mer

en hiver, aux brèmes et dorades dans les hauts-fonds

durant la belle saison. L’arrière-pays

de Framura abrite des forêts de châtaigniers et

des chênes lièges dans la localité Vigo.

Le mont Serro, situé entre Framura et Deiva

Marina se compose de falaises surplombant la

mer, d’un jardin botanique sur la pointe Apicchi

et de nombreux petits cours d’eau de-ci de-là

qui sculptent les flancs du mont.

• S. Antonio Abate, interno, facciata e sagrato

Spicca per particolari e identità religiosa,

compresa nella diocesi spezzina, la

chiesa settecentesca parrocchiale dedicata

a Sant’Antonio Abate, che si trova nel nucleo

antico: edificata nel 1730, è di particolare interesse

per il sagrato policromo, costruito

secondo il tipico tappeto di ciottoli in pietra,

detto “a risseu”. A pianta rettangolare, il presbiterio

è munito di un’abside semicircolare

riccamente decorata, al contrario del bianco

rigoroso che illumina il resto dell’edificio.

All’interno, la troviamo abbellita da decorazioni

barocche e dipinti del diciottesimo e diciannovesimo

secolo. Trova posto a Sant’Antonio

anche un notevole organo della metà

del XIX secolo. Di fronte alla chiesa si trova

una delle due torri di avvistamento, innalzate

dalla Repubblica di Genova per difendere il

territorio. E’ quella a pianta quadrata, coronata

di merli aggettanti, detta Saracena.

La seconda torre, a pianta circolare, è vicina

alla costa, e fungeva da postazione di guardia

in risposta al pericolo delle incursioni di pirati

turchi e barbareschi, esattamente come la

gemella.

Vicino all’abitato di Piazza, si arriva a visitare la chiesa di N.S.

dell’Assunta, ritenuta la prima chiesa plebana del comprensorio,

intorno al 1002 in un’ampia terrazza pianeggiante.

La chiesa è conosciuta per la presenza al suo interno di una

delle più significative testimonianze scritte dell’evangelizzazione

del territorio, un’antica incisa su lastra marmorea,

che riporta il testo di una pretesa “lettera di Gesù Cristo

mandata dal cielo”, datata alla fine del VII – VIII secolo. In

località di Passano e salendo il monte, antica dimora della

locale famiglia feudale dei marchesi De Passano, si trovano i

resti dell’antico castello feudale.

Lontana dai fasti di edifici religiosi e piazze gremite la domenica,

la spiaggia di oltre 600 metri, composta da sabbia

mista a ghiaia, ospita stabilimenti balneari ben attrezzati e

tratti liberi, ideale anche per le immersioni dei subacquei,

ben tenuta e con un grande parcheggio adiacente. La profondità

delle acque diventa notevole appena ci si addentra,

perciò è consigliabile sorvegliare i bambini.

The eighteenth-century parish church dedicated

to Saint Anthony stands out for its details

and religious identity, it is situated in the old part

of the town: it was built in 1730, the polychrome

porch is very interesting, with its typical cobblestones

called “a risseu”. It has a rectangular plan,

the presbytery has a richly decorated semicircular

apse, the strong white brigthens the rest of the building.

Inside, we find Baroque decorations and eighteenth

and nineteenth century paintings. Inside the

church there is also a considerable pipe organ of

the mid-nineteenth century. Opposite the church,

there is one of the two towers, built during the Republic

of Genoa to defend the territory. It has a

square plan, with merlons, it is called Saracen. The

second tower has a circular plan, it is built close

to the coast and was used as a guard post like the

other tower, against Turkish and Barbary pirates

raids.

Near the inhabited area of Piazza, there is the

church Our Lady of Assumption, considered the

first rural church of the area, it was built around

1002 in a large flat terrace. The church is known

for the most significant written records of evangelism

of the territory, it is an ancient engraved marble

slab, which contains the text of a claim " letter

from Jesus Christ sent from heaven ", dated end

of VII - VIII century. In Passano, going up the mountain,

there is the ancient home of the local feudal

family of the Marquis Da Passano, here we find

the remains of the old feudal castle. Far from the

splendour of the religious buildings and the squares

packed on Sundays, there is the beach with its

over 600 metres, with sand and pebbles, it offers

well-equipped bathing resorts and free beaches,

ideal also for scuba divers, the place is well kept

and there is a large car park near it. The depth of

L’

église Sant ’Antonio Abate située dans le vieux bourg,

construite en 1730 est intéressante grâce au parvis

polychrome fait de galets disposés “a risseu”. Sa construction

est rectangulaire, le presbytère est équipé d’une

abside semi-circulaire richement décorée par rapport au

blanc lumineux qui revêt le reste de l’édifice. L’ intérieur

est décoré en style baroque et de peintures des XVIIIe et

XIXe siècles et d’un orgue du XIXe siècle. Face à l'église,

la tour carrée et sa couronne de merlon appelée (Saracena)

fut érigée par la République de Gênes pour défendre le

territoire. La seconde tour circulaire construite sur la côte

en tant que poste de garde pour contrôler l’invasion des pirates

et des barbaresques. Près du bourg Piazza, sur la place,

l’église N.S. de l’Assunta, considérée la première église

de la région fut construite autour de 1002. Cette église est

renommée grâce à la présence d’une ancienne plaque de

marbre datant du VII – VIIIe siècle lors de l'évangélisation

du territoire, gravée du texte d'une "lettre de Jésus-Christ

envoyé du ciel". De Passano vers les monts on y trouve l'ancienne

demeure de la famille féodale locale des Marquis De

Passano ainsi que les vestiges du château féodal.

Loin des édifices religieux et des places couvertes de gens

surtout le dimanche on se dirige vers la plage de sable et

galets, longue 600 mètres, équipée d’établissements balnéaires.

Certains tronçons sont gratuits et bien entretenus

d’où les plongeurs partent pour les excursions compte tenu

des eaux profondes de cet endroit. Bien surveiller les enfants

! Un grand parking adjacent facilite l’accès de cette place.

primi insediamenti collinari di Deiva Marina sorgono

attorno all’VIII secolo, in corrispondenza degli

attuali borghi di Mezzema, Piazza, Passano e Caraschi.

Solo successivamente la popolazione inizierà a

spostarsi verso la costa, costruendo la vera e propria

Deiva in riva al mare, approssimativamente intorno al

XI secolo, approfittando altresì del benessere fiorito

intorno agli scambi commerciali. Al toponimo originario,

dunque, è stato aggiunto l’aggettivo “Marina”, per

la sua posizione a ridosso dell’azzurrissimo Ligure.

L’intera zona resta a lungo un feudo dei locali marchesi

Da Passano, gli stessi ai quali si deve l’edificazione

del castello. Deiva, sotto i Da Passano, giura fedeltà

alla Repubblica di Genova, che incorpora il paese e

Mezzema nella podesteria di Moneglia, mentre Piazza

e Passano entrano in quella framurese; dal 1680 il

territorio viene inglobato nell’unica podesteria monegliese

all’interno del Capitaneato di Levanto.

Genova concede i fondi per costruire le due torri di

avvistamento in prossimità della Marina, una rotonda

e una quadrangolare, quest’ultima nei pressi della

chiesa parrocchiale di Sant’Antonio Abate.

Nel 1797, sotto la dominazione francese di Napoleone

Bonaparte, Deiva Marina rientra nel Dipartimento

del Vara, con capoluogo Levanto, all’interno della Repubblica

Ligure annessa al Primo Impero francese, e

successivamente nel VII Cantone, come capoluogo,

della Giurisdizione di Mesco. Nel 1815 viene annessa

nel Regno di Sardegna, secondo le decisioni del Congresso

di Vienna del 1814, e successivamente nel Regno

d’Italia dal 1861. Durante il Risorgimento italiano il

paese viene ricordato per l’amicizia del deputato Bollo

con Cavour, ma soprattutto per quella di Giuseppe

Garibaldi con il giovane nostromo Luigi Cariglia, che

secondo le cronache gli salvò la vita quando, durante

una scaramuccia nel Rio de la Plata, il futuro generale

venne colpito a morte. Dalla fine dell’ottocento

al secolo successivo il paese riscopre una fiorente

economia basata sulle strutture recettive del turismo

vacanziero, lasciando che l’aristocrazia europea si

perda tra orti e giardini, o nei bagni a mare lungo l’ampia

spiaggia, assieme a quello enogastronomico, con

piccoli esercizi a conduzione familiare oggi trasformati

in agriturismi e cooperative sociali. Durante il periodo

dei conflitti si inaugura la stazione ferroviaria

attuale, ampliata, di Deiva Marina, e l’insediamento

si ingrandisce ben oltre i suoi rilievi, prevalentemente

terrazzati, per dar spazio agli oliveti, principalmente

in vista di Moneglia.

• Torre nel Centro Storico di Deiva Marina

The first settlements on the hills of Deiva Marina,

date back to the eighth century, where

there are now the villages of Mezzema, Piazza,

Passano and Caraschi. Only later the population

started moving towards the coast, where they

built the real Deiva by the sea, approximately

around the eleventh century, taking advantage

of the wealthy trades. The name was changed

adding the adjective "Marina", for its position

close to the very blue Ligurian sea.

The entire area was for a long period a local

feud of the Marquis Da Passano, the same family

who built the castle. Deiva, ruled by the Da

Passano family, sworn its allegiance to the Republic

of Genoa, which also included the village

of Mezzema, part of the area of Moneglia, instead

Piazza and Passano, were part of the area of

Framura; since 1680 the territory became part

of the area of Moneglia within the Captaincy

of Levanto. Genova granted the funds to build

the two towers near the Marina, one has a round

shape and the other one is square, the latter

is situated near the parish

church of St. Anthony abbot.

In 1797, under the French do-

minion of Napoleon Bonaparte, Deiva Marina

was part of the Department of Vara, with Levanto

as an administrative centre of the Ligurian

Republic, part of the First French Empire,

and later in the seventh canton, it became the

administrative centre of the Jurisdiction of Mesco.

In 1815 Deiva became part of the Kingdom

of Sardinia, according to the decisions taken

by the Congress of Vienna in 1814, and later as

part of the Kingdom of Italy since 1861. During

the Italian Risorgimento, the small town is remembered

for the friendship of the deputy Bollo

with Cavour, but also for another friendship,

Giuseppe Garibaldi and the young boatswain

Luigi Cariglia, who according to the chronicles,

saved his life when, during a skirmish in

Rio de la Plata, Garibaldi was shot.

Since the end of the nineteenth and twentieth

centuries, the small town rediscoved a thriving

economy based on tourism facilities, letting

the European aristocracy enjoy the beauties

of its orchards and gardens, or the long and

wide beach, as well as food and wine prepared

in the small restaurants run by families, which

have now been converted into agritourims

and social co-operatives. During the period of

the World war conflicts, the actual train station

was opened, the settlement expanded far

beyond its hills, mainly terraced, to create olive

groves, especially towards Moneglia.

Les premières populations s’établirent sur

les collines de Deiva vers le VIIIe siècle

dans les actuels bourgs de Mezzema, Piazza,

Passano et Caraschi. Successivement et petit

à petit la population descend sur la côte. Aux

environs du XIe siècle, grâce à une prospérité

croissante, l’actuelle Deiva construite sur la

mer prendra le nom définitif de Deiva Marina.

La contrée demeure sous la domination des

Marquis Da Passano qui édifient le château et

qui jurent fidélité à la République de Gênes,

laquelle incorpore la localité Mezzema au podestat

de Moneglia, tandis que Piazza et Passano

à celui de Framura. Depuis 1680 le podestat

de Moneglia englobe tout le territoire qui

est gouverné par Levanto. Genova concède

des fonds pour construire deux tours, l’une

ronde près de la Marina, l’autre carrée près

de l'église Sant ‘Antonio Abate.

En 1797, sous Napoléon Bonaparte, Premier

Empire Français, Deiva Marina rentre dans le

département Vara, chef-lieu Levanto, République

de la Ligurie. Plus tard Deiva Marina

fera partie du septième canton sous la Juridiction

de Mesco et plus tard en 1815, elle

est annexée au royaume de Sardaigne selon

le vouloir du Congrès de Vienne de 1814. À

partir de 1861 elle fera partie du Royaume

d'Italie. Durant la renaissance italienne la

ville est associée à l’amitié entretenue entre

le député Bollo et le Comte Cavour et aussi

entre le Général Giuseppe Garibaldi et le

jeune manœuvrier Luigi Cariglia, qui selon

les chroniques de l’époque, sauvât le futur

Général lors d’une escarmouche dans le Rio

de la Plata.

Du XIXe au XXe siècle Deiva Marina retrouve

une économie florissante basée sur le tourisme

et les loisirs. A cette époque l'aristocratie

européenne vient se perdre au milieu des

vergers et des jardins, sur les grandes plages,

dans les eaux cristallines, mais aussi pour

savourer l’oenograstronomie produite par

de petites entreprises familiales aujourd’hui

converties en chambres d'hôtes, agritourismes

et coopératives.

Durant la période de conflit la gare est inaugurée,

la vie s’installe et se développe, la

population travaille les terres créant des cultures

en terrasses où poussent oliveraies et

vignobles.

Spezia che in quella di Genova, così come

il turista nei centri di vacanze

di prim’ordine. Oltre Punta Manara, la costa

impervia vi dà il benvenuto nel sistema

di monti e colline che si gettano in bocca

all’azzurro mare, sfilando da Moneglia,

Deiva Marina, Bonassola, fino a Levanto.

Ad appena una ventina di chilometri da

Deiva Marina, le Cinque Terre vi aspettano

con il loro colorato ventaglio di storia

e leggende e paesi arroccati sulla costa,

veri e propri borghi marinari che non sono

cambiati nel tempo.

Il tratto conclusivo della costa ligure, compresa

nel Golfo della Spezia fino alle Bocche

di Magra, va dai porticcioli turistici di

La Spezia e Lerici fino agli estuari lacustri

del Magra, ed oltre ancora, salutando i lidi

e la vita notturna della Versilia.

direction. In Bogliasco, Pieve Ligure Sori, Recco and

Camogli you will find a good cuisine and food festivals

throughout the year, accompanying tourists to first-rate

holiday resorts, meeting Zoagli, Chiavari, Lavagna and

Sestri Levante. Beyond Punta Manara, the difficult coast

welcomes the mountains and hills that overlook the

blue sea, from Moneglia, Deiva Marina, Bonassola, up

to Levanto. At just twenty kilometres from our town, we

find the Cinque Terre, with their colourful range of history

and legends, small villages perched on the coast,

real fishing villages that have not changed over time.

The final stretch of the Ligurian coast goes from the

Gulf of La Spezia to Bocca di Magra, with the touristic

ports of La Spezia and Lerici, to the estuaries of the River

Magra and further on, waving to the beaches and

the night life in Versilia.
